Surprise on my front lawn: large limbs off the large Bradford Pear tree, after heavy rains. Did I panic? No - I knew I could call Bartholomew Tree Service, Certified Aborist/Licensed and Insured.I did call the office at 9:30pm to ask for help, got a call back, and the next morning, as promised, owner Jeff, (who always works alongside his crew) and his crew drove up to take care of the issue: they worked me in on their way to another job. I was so very grateful. Thanks Bartholomew Tree Service, and thanks to you,Sunny, for keeping me posted about his schedule so I don't sit around wondering when he would come!

Jeff and his crew showed up on the coldest day of the year, right on time and ready to work. They had to remove a large cracked limb that was overhanging my neighbor's property, being careful not to damage the fencing and landscaping directly below. They were very careful and methodical in their labors, and the limb was removed without incident. On another tree they pruned some large branches, and installed a cable support between two Y limbs. When finished, they cleaned-up all the debris and hauled it away. They did a great job overall, and I won't hesitate to call Bartholomew for future tree work.

I was very pleased from the very beginning. I found Bartholomew Tree Service on the web and arranged for an estimate. Jeff came by on a Sunday, and when he discovered how hollow the maples were -- one of which was also leaning quite a bit -- he made us a priority job. He felt one of them posed a potential threat to the house, and told me to make sure my daughter didn't play in that part of the back yard. Sony, the office manager, promised an emailed estimated by Sunday evening, but when a storm knocked out power, she called to apologize and said she would email it on Monday (which she did). We were placed on the schedule for Tuesday, and Jeff called Tuesday night to confirm and give us the arrival time for the next morning. On Tuesday morning, Jeff called back to say his lead climber had called in sick, and he was attempting to find a replacement. When he was unable to do so, he rescheduled us for Friday, saying he had a 2-day job in Virginia that he could not move. On Wednesday afternoon, Sony called to say the Virginia job was proceeding better than expected, and that there was a chance they would be able to come out a day earlier on Thursday. Wednesday evening, Jeff called and said they would be there Thursday morning, and that he would be on our job for a while, break off for a time to the other job, and then return to our job in the afternoon. He said they would get the trees down for us and remove the brush, and they would return the following week to remove the wood. By Thursday evening, the trees were in fact down, and he and his crew returned on Tuesday to get the wood. We arranged for them to remove a flowering crab apple in our front yard, and also some brush piled up in the back yard. We will call them again next time we need tree work. Jeff, Sony and their crew are honest, hard working, and communicate exceptionally well throughout the process. We're especially grateful at their efforts to get our trees down as soon as possible given the threat, as who knows what might have happened with the storms and heavy rains that came through right after they got the trees down. We definitely recommend Bartholomew Tree Service.

Bartholomew Tree Service was supposed to cut 2 trees on Monday 24 June 13. They called that Monday morning at 8:00 am because their 'climber' had called in sick! They rescheduled their service for Wednesday 26 June 13. Still no 'climber'. Finally, they came on June 28. In spite of this delay, I have been very happy with the service. Jeff Bartholomew came with a crew of 4, and finished the job in 3 hours. Very professional. Came with all the equipment to remove all the branches and stumps. Perfect clean-up. I can recommend the Service to anybody who needs tree removal. I think the price is fair, but I have no experience to give a final judgment.

They stayed within their price estimate. They got the work completed in about a day and a half.

I requested estimates from 5 area tree service companies, based on Angie's List reviews. I had to wait a little bit longer for the Bartholomew estimate because Jeff does the estimating work on Sundays. The person in the office explained that they do it this way so that Jeff can be onsite at the job sites during the weekdays, which made sense to me and gave me peace of mind that the certified arborist (Jeff) would actually be at the job, if I chose this company. I prefer that arrangement to a larger company that might have more staff but might not supervise the work as closely. Waiting a few extra days for the Bartholomew estimate was totally worth it because Bartholomew provided the most reasonable proposal and, more importantly, they were able to schedule my work for the same week that I accepted the proposal. So, it only took four days from the day of the estimate until the work was completed. I was very pleased with the work that the 3 person crew did. They were careful to protect the backyard gate as well as a healthy tree that was in their way and they cleaned up all of the woodchips, etc., from their work. I will definitely call Bartholomew in the near future to evaluate the remaining trees in my yard.

We have used Bartholomew Tree Service for the past six years. Jeff Bartholomew is extremely knowledgeable and highly professional. The price is always fair. He trains his crew extremely well and they stay with him through the years. This company is thoroughly trustworthy. I would not call any other tree service.

I had about 12 Leland cypress trimmed down about 12 feet and pruned; and 4 other trees pruned. The work was done promptly and they cleaned up everything. I have used Bartholomew for years. They are wonderful. They gave us a cost break because I got two other neighbors to get work done on their trees at the same time.

They knew what they were doing an did a good job.

Overall I was quite satisfied with the second estimate I received from this company. I plan to call them again when I need tree work done.

They are wonderful and have done several jobs for me. The guy is wonderful and he is there 100 percent of the time instead of turning it over to the workers like most of them do. His prices are pretty good and I have already recommended them to people. I will use them again in the future.

The job went very well. Jeff called the day before to tell me he and his crew would be out the next day and the approximate time frame they'd arrive. He had enough of a crew to work on both trees at the same time. They did the job requested and took away all the tree debris afterwards.

My Leland Cypress trees had exploded with growth following the heavy snowstorms of last year and heavy ground water. They were taking over my yard. Some branches that had bent over from the weight of the snow did not recover and were propped up hoping for rejuvenation. Jeff came to give me his estimate over the weekend and was prompt in delivering his estimate. He advised me on what best to do for the trees on my property. As a result, I had him also prune a Branford Pear, dogwood and maple tree. This is a thoroughly professional company. Their price was very competitive. The work was just what we agreed to. They cleaned up and hauled away as promised. I would use them again.

They took everything out and removed the stumps. They were very accomodating, and saved some trunks for me. They did everything without damaging anything in my yard.They were just really great and professional.

We were extremely pleased at the quality of their work. I asked them to leave the logs, which I will split for firewood. They cleaned up all the brush and left the logs neatly stacked and out of the way of our barn. We will definitely use them again.

The trees were removed to our satisfaction, and the price was lower than another quote we got. The communications from the office were a big disorganized, probably in part because it was a busy time for tree removal (post winter storm). In the end they came earlier in the day than promised, so this meant we were not on site and could not follow up with some additional work we had told them we were interested in.

we called. they came and provided an estimate. they answered questions by phone and then came and did they work. the only small hitch is that they did not call in advance to tell us that they were coming that day.

I had to remind them to put protective covering on my deck which was just resealed. I was annoyed about that and they could have been more careful. They did an average job. They cleaned up the mess.

Everything went well. Project was completed in half-a-day. No mess afterwards.

I have used Jeff and his crew at 2 homes now. He is an arborist and knows his trees. I've always found his services to be timely, and very professional. His prices are competitive although not inexpensive but the quality of his work is very good. I'd use him again and highly recommend him.

The job took just over 2 days. It went very smoothly. The trees were taken down in many stages with ropes to control the limb fall. I was very pleased with the care taken to avoid damage to the house.

They came with the proper equipment needed to do the job. I was very impressed when the owner showed up with the crew. They did a fantastic clean up. I had a positive experience with this company and highly recommend them.

My wife and I have used this contractor for shaping, pruning and thinning shrubs and trees for several years. The firm is responsible for the appearance of our shrubbery by shaping and pruning plants twice a year. Our property is certainly recognized as a standout in the community and Bartholomew deserves some of the credit. Workmanship can be described as "beyond superb." Prices are reasonable. Contractor has employed same skilled and dedicated workmen for three years who appear to maintain their allegiance because of good working conditions, incentives and constant safety considerations especially with respect to working in trees. Mr. Bartholomew's concern for his field staff was expressed when he found it desirable to postpone work on our property one day because of a forecast of a high temperature in excess of 95 degrees. Jeff Bartholomew and his staff are good people to know and easy persons to talk to.
