I thought the tiling was well done. They were also, responsive, they were real responsive, communicating with their home office was very prompt. There where two guys that worked on but they weren't from the front office. The vanity didn't fit, so it had to be reordered. So that caused another 6 week delay. So it's a question of whether you can that on there or not. I think initially it should have been a two week job. It was fairly clean. They crated a lot of dust from just the work. So they could have, in my opinion, they could have, like I initiated getting drop cloths, they didn't. They got like a limited number, where as I would have

Spoke with Steve and was told they do not do work in condos and would not come take a look at my bathroom. I explained that parking and water turn off are not issues here, but still not interested. No reason to take time to contact them if you live in a condo.

As the customer mentioned, we do not work in condominiums or apartment complexes. We have the same policy for all customers and do not change our policy on a case by case basis. It is a shame that this individual felt the need to provide us with a poor grade because we would not modify our policy for him. Adhering to our policies has enabled us to meet or exceed the expectations of customers for the past 28 years. Once again, our only poor reviews on Angie's List are from individuals where WORK WAS NOT PERFORMED. When work is performed, we get outstanding reviews!

I had our master bath redone about 14 years ago and that company didn't exist anymore, but I tracked down the owner - he owns American Bath now and I hired them without reservations. They did excellent work both times, and the crews were very professional and easy to work with. I recommend them highly for anything you need and wish they did more than bathrooms!

Every aspect of this job was perfect. From Ron giving us detailed explanation of our options to Steve in the office who was responsive and helpful, always checking to make sure we were happy. The crew, Jason and Chris were above reproach. Professional on every level, even when we asked them to change stuff that was already done. Always on time with a detailed explanation on what was going to happen that day. They were on time and on budget. Would hire these guys again in a New York minute.

Ron, the owner, came out very quickly to talk to us about the project. He gave us some ideas and places to go to pick out tiles, etc. His quote included the prices for the tiles, etc. but were removed when we purchased the items ourselves (worked out very nicely). The crew came on time and started working. After they removed the walls, etc. we discovered that the shower upstairs was leaking causing all of the damage. They quickly gave us a quote to repair the upstairs bathroom instead of the basement bathroom that was very reasonable. They started work immediately and finished on time. Jason and Chris worked very hard and were very easy to work with. We are using them again in January to complete the basement bathroom.

Excellent. Work crew showed up on time every day except one, when a helicopter landed on I-66. At which point they called. Very responsive. Excellent work quality - they really cared about the work. Respectful of the house, and very polite. Excellent work with pleasant folks. Highly recommend for good work and a good experience.

Response from American Bath Remodel, LLC
This individual must be confusing us with another company. We never received a phone call or email request for an estimate for kitchen counter tops and cabinets. We would never schedule an appointment with this job description since we remodel bathrooms exclusively. If we had received the request we would have provided him with that information at the time. I have done all estimates for over the past 25 years and I have never stood a customer up or missed an appointment without contacting a customer and never would. We have been in contact with Angie's List for over a week now to have this review removed since it is clearly inaccurate. They have been unable to verify this information to date. This review needs to be removed immediately.

Initially the work was great. We had a plastic showerpan removed and a new pebble tile floor installed. This required removing older shower doors, which were replaced with frameless ones (done by another company), removing the lower row of wall tiles, installing the floor and then reinstalling a new row of wall tiles. The project was done in a timely manner, the work looked great, worker were very nice and friendly and they were very clean with their work. I was very satisfied. Fast forward to a year later, I notice there's a water spot in the ceiling below my shower, so I went to investigate. Seems the grout they put in had cracked away in many spaces. After doing some research I found out that sanded grout is to be used in wide gaps between tile, while nonsanded grout should be used for small spaces. After further inspection, they had used sanded grout on the wall tiles they installed. I can tell it was their work because the remainder of the wall (which was never touched) has nonsanded grout. I contacted them and asked them if they would fix it since the grout shouldn't be cracking at close to a year. They basically wanted to charge me a lot of money to come and fix it and said they wouldn't backup their work and take responsibility. Luckily, I'm handy enough that I was able to re-grout it myself but I'm disappointed in them that they wouldn't back up their work. Until that point I would've hired them again but I cannot trust them anymore after that experience.

Words cannot express how thrilled we are with the work that American Bath Inc did. Our master bathroom shower was in need of a remodel, as it was the original shower pan, doors, and trim kit installed by the builder. We contacted the company via phone, and Steve handled all our questions and or concerns right away. Right off the bat with their free estimate offer, and the fact the president himself, Ron, was coming to do the estimate, clearly says a lot about how much they care about their work and customers. Ron arrived on time and was extremely knowledgeable about the work we wanted to have done and answered all our questions without hesitation. There was no pressure nor a sales pitch to make you feel like you had to sign a contract right then and there to have the work done. We asked for some time to think about it, and within a few days we contacted American Bath Inc to have them remodel our shower. Little did we know they would be in such high demand after just a few days, but Steve went above and beyond to accommodate us and fit us in their work schedule. They told us the job would take 3 business days and the cost would be $3200, all of which was right on point, and those 3 days actually equaled to about 2.5. I can't say enough about how impressed we are with Rob, the installer and bathroom guy who did the work for us. His personality, attention to detail, and willingness to go out of his way to make sure the customer is happy, proves just how much this company cares about the work/customers. Rob even came back a day after all the main work was completed, to install the trim kit, as it was delayed by a day in delivery. We highly recommend American Bath Inc to anyone who is looking to have a remodeling job completed in the near/far future, and we would definitely use them again, time after time.

We hired American Bath to update a full bath earlier this year. We are so thrilled with the result! It’s our favorite bathroom in the house right now. It was a pleasure to communicate with Ron. I could have talked to him all day. He spent time listening to my wishes and being so kind about my crazy ideas. I liked being able to shop for tile and vanities myself, because I found some fun sales that kept the cost down as much as possible, and I got to be particular about buying and returning things until I found just what I wanted. The estimate was detailed and the cost reasonable. Ron and/or Steve were always punctual in returning my calls or emails. They speak realistically and openly about cost to keep that from being an awkward misunderstanding later. The crew protected my carpets and floors and swept inside every day before they left. I was unusually picky about wanting to be able to air-seal and insulate in the joist spaces myself before they put the new walls up, so they took a well-timed lunch break to let me do that before they continued. How nice :) We are looking forward to having them work their magic in our master bath next.

Just fine! Ron Wood, the owner showed up on time and we worked together on the scope of work. He had all paperwork with him regarding insurance, recommendations, etc. After deciding on the scope, he sent a fair estimate, which was about 30% less than another contractor that I had used before. Steve, the office manager, was very courteous and professional throughout the process of scheduling and coordinating services. The estimate included materials the contractor provides and ones we would be responsible for. The workers showed up on time and worked diligently with us, asking us about our satisfaction on several steps of the remodeling. the made improvement suggestion regarding some of the work, which were spot on. They were pleasant and kept the place clean throughout the process. They also finished a bit earlier than we anticipated with is a definite plus. The service cost was $9,500. The field for this isn't working for me, keeps deleting

How did it go? Good enough to contract my Hall Bath with them. Jason did an incredible job, even so he had to deal with this pain in the *** customer. I didn't know what I didn't know till I saw what I didn't like and then changed stuff up. Jason was a trooper and dealt with me. Final verdict I have an incredible Master Bath. Thanks Ron and Jason.

It's been almost a month since Jasen and his guys finished a complete remodel of our master bathroom. It has taken us this long to write a review because when your bathroom turns out this nice you never want to leave it. In all seriousness, American Bath took our vision and made it a reality. We couldn't be more pleased with our selection of American Bath and how professional and painless the entire process was. From the start, everything was clearly laid out, thanks to Ron (the owner and estimator), and we knew what to expect every step of the way. Steve, Ron's son, was always accessible via phone and email, and was super timely and informative with all of his responses to our many questions and changes we requested. Jasen is a true craftsman and a workhorse, arriving early each morning and getting right to it; not to mention, his workmanship is stellar. Also, he's a really nice guy. He came over on a Saturday, which was also his birthday, to fix a leak that had started due to an old pipe being jostled around. He didn't have to (we could've waited till Monday) and we didn't even ask him to; that's just how nice he is! Our bathroom has been completely transformed into a modern, relaxing, and functional space. We can't say enough good things about this company and our experience. I'll add pictures once I figure out how to do that. Also, note about the cost: this is an approximation, and includes the contract cost plus cost of materials.

Response from American Bath Remodel, LLC
Once again, no appointment, no estimate, and no work performed. This gentleman contacted the office and said just the lower track on his shower door needed replacing. As we advertise, we do repairs, however we clearly state on our website we have a minimum job cost of $1,500. This is because we have remodeling crews only. We explained this to the customer and also recommended he contact the shower door company we use for repairs. He took the information we provided, thanked us and hung up. Upon seeing this review, we contacted him to see if he had us confused with another company. Apparently he did because the company he mentioned we referred him to was not even a shower door company or one we have even heard of. He told us he would take this post off, but apparently it is not the priority for him that posting a review was. Please note in 27 years of specializing in bathroom remodeling I have been given 4 F's on Angie's List. Not a single one of these have we even gotten to the point of providing them an estimate. We get exceptional reviews when we do get to that point.

Before I go into my long winded review, I just want to say how extremely happy we are with the work that American Bath, Inc performed. Our new shower stall is incredibly beautiful and every tile was laid meticulously! Ron's guys, Jeff, Dave and Dennis did phenomenal work. Details of our remodel follows. I searched Angie’s List as well as other sources for contractors and read dozens and dozens of reviews of various contractors. I liked what I read about American Bath, Inc. on their website saying that they only do bathroom remodels. I figured they must know what they are doing. I also liked the fact that American Bath, Inc. had great customer reviews and an A rating on Angie’s List. So I contacted them. I spoke to Steve, the owners’ son who was courteous, polite and not pushy at all. We set up an appointment for Ron, his father, the owner of American Bath to come and give us an estimate. The estimate was scheduled for one week later. During that week, I had scheduled 3 other estimates from other contractors. One of which we were very interested in. We were going to cancel the scheduled estimate with American Bath, but we had not yet received a written estimate from the company we were considering. So we kept our appointment with Ron. Ron came out on 4/18/16 and spent nearly 2 hours with us to discuss our thoughts and plans for this bathroom remodel. He was pleasant, friendly and shared his photos of other jobs. We wanted to supply all of our own material, vanity, sink top, faucets, tiles, paint, shower door, mirror, light etc. Within 6 hours Ron had emailed us a written estimate. Unfortunately, shortly after Ron had left, and before his estimate arrived in my email, my husband was laid off from his job of 16 years. BAD TIMING! I thought at this point we may not be able to go forward with the remodel. Ron called me and asked if I had gotten the estimate. I told him yes and also relayed the news of my husband losing his job. He offered to send us an estimate of only putting a shower in. Since the tub tiles were damaged, due to a fall we really needed to replace it with a safer walk in shower. We asked to remove the cost of the installation of a shower door to help bring the cost down. We knew we could have that installed at a later date. He sent a new estimate which we liked and signed a contract the next day. We were told the job would start the following week. Steve, Ron’s son, was in contact with us confirming days and time that their guys would be coming. Now the fun! D (demolition) Day had arrived. Jeff, Dave and Dennis, showed up promptly to replace our bathtub with a shower stall. They covered with tarps every inch of flooring, stairs and hallway and through the Master bedroom to the bathroom that they would be working on. Jeff had asked to see my plans, material and to go over what we had envisioned for this shower stall. The three guys went right to work, removed the tub, tiles, put cement board up framed a bench seat, worked on the plumbing and poured a concrete pan for the shower floor. The granite sink top and new faucet was placed on our original vanity as well. They were quick and efficient in their work. The second day, Jeff, Dave and Dennis arrived promptly and went to work tiling the shower. I was amazed at how beautiful their tiling was. The niche was framed in with the matching bull nose of the tiles used on the shower wall with the accent tile on the back of the niche. They were meticulous in the laying of every tile and putting together the accent rows of marble tile. Two marble corner shelves were place directly below the row of accent tiles. The third day came. The grouting was done, Shower head, grab bars (hopefully to avoid future falls) and shower curtain rod installed. Job Complete! Jeff, Dave and Dennis did extraordinary work. They were precise, meticulous and hard working. The job was flawless on my end and completed in the time frame allowed. Anyone who gets Jeff, Dave and Dennis to do their bathroom remodel will not be disappointed. They were Fantastic. Thank you Ron, Steve, Jeff, Dave and Dennis for all that you have done! We are some very happy customers!

If you are interested in cutting corners and the having your remodeling project completed without a permit, American Bath might work well for you. If your project requires a permit (aka job done by the code), you'd need to look somewhere else... That's exactly what we are doing now, looking for another company that can obtain a proper permit and do the job the way it's supposed to be done.
Description of Work: Asked for a quote. Received an email and a followed up with a phone call. American Bath refused to provide a quote because... "the job would require a permit".

There was no appointment, no estimate, and no work performed for this individual. Our decision and explanation to this individual had nothing to do with permits. This is a multi-million dollar Potomac, Md home. The individual's request was 3 complete remodeled, redesigned, and reconfigured bathrooms done simultaneously and time was of the essence for him. I have limited the size of my company's growth to three highly experienced crews, specifically for quality control rather than maximizing profit. Multiple bath contracts are very common here, however the way I choose to operate is to send one crew only to your home and if the contract does involve more than one bathroom we start and complete the bathrooms individually. This minimizes the disruption to your home and allows my crew to focus on one bathroom at a time. I also never have a crew working at two different job sites simultaneously which is the norm for many general contractors. With our work schedule we could not adhere to this individual's request. I am very adamant about not promising something I can't deliver on. I have found this to be the very opposite for many competitor's who will not turn down work under any circumstance, which can ultimately result in a detrimental experience for the customer. I have insisted on running all of my own estimates for over two decades in this business so that I personally see and evaluate every job, provide specific details and don't over promise what I can't deliver. FYI- All of our work is done to code. We haven't survived 27 years by exclusively remodeling bathrooms and have earned the top rating on Angie's List and the Better Business Bureau if that were not the case. We did our best to politely explain our situation to this individual, he even responded that it was no problem he is getting many estimates. Unfortunately, Angie's List or any company cannot verify the validity of a call/post or even if these individuals are affiliated with a competitor. This is one of the disadvantages of the internet.

American Bath was amazing!!!!!! First off full-disclosure, my dad has been a contractor for 40 years, so nothing that anyone ever does is as good as he could do it. Even my dad was impressed with their work. So the problem was that I had a leak from a tub in an upstairs bathroom that was damaging the ceiling in the bathroom below it. I called a few companies, but the responsiveness, solutions, general knowledge and price set American Bath far above all the other companies. When Ron (the owner) came out to look at the project he provided the estimate within 24 hours. In addition he provided me a list of 20 local references to contact- and if you give me a list of references, I?m going to call them. I called 4 at random. Every one of the four references called me back and raved about how much they loved American Bath. They all said how years later their bathrooms still looked great and how not only did they plan on using American Bath Inc for all their future bathroom remodel needs, but that this was the only company they even consider having work on bathrooms in their house. Everyone spoke very highly of the team that worked for them, and after having Jason and Matt work on our bathroom- I can see why this company is A++++++++ rated. So after I signed the contract with American Bath, my husband and I started changing the plan- what if we did different tiles for the floor, what if we did subway tiles for the bathtub? Ron and Steve were great about all the changes. They answered all of my questions promptly and professionally and were extremely accommodating. (We could purchase our own supplies, we could identify the supplies that we wanted to use and they would pick them up, etc.) The floor tile was at a different place than the shower tile, and the fixtures were at a 3rd place- not a problem? The process could not have been more seamless and easy. Both my husband and I work full-time and so having to coordinate a re-model was not something I was looking forward to- Ron and Steve made it easy. Then came the install. Jasen and Matt were my installers and I can?t say enough great things about them. They were scheduled to arrive at 7:30am and at exactly 7:30am they rang the doorbell. (They were actually outside a little early and waited so not to impose). Their work was amazing, they had to literally gut the bathroom. (I mean fully rotted 2x4s, rotted subfloor, all types of a mess.) Never a complaint? When they had gutted the bathroom all the copper pipes were exposed- and there was some cement spatter on the pipes. I was concerned that these were pinhole leaks, and that I was going to need to re-do the entire plumbing. Now a less scrupulous company would have said ?yes ma?am we?d be happy to replace all of your copper plumbing in the bathroom.? However Jason took the time to listen to my concerns and show me that even though it look like a pinhole leak pattern it was just splatter from the cement on the wall, that there was no need for replacing the pipes and my plumbing was fine. So kudos to Jasen, Matt, and American Bath for not taking advantage of me and trying to upsell me. Now the outcome- arguably the most important part?. We LOVE our bathroom. I really didn?t think I was going to care, I mean this was an ?unplanned? remodel in that I need to pull out the tub and tile to fix the leak and the rotted wood?. We didn?t expand the bathroom footprint and so I assumed (incorrectly!) that tile and paint was interchangeable. Not so. It really feels like a whole new bathroom due to the care and attention to detail that Jason and Matt put in- you can tell that after all the years of experience and all the bathrooms that they?ve done, each bathroom really is a work of love. My only problem is that now everyone in the family wants to take really long baths and my husband liked the work so much that he wants to have American Bath come back and re-do our other bathrooms (even though there is nothing wrong with them J). Below are some after pictures from the remodel, you can see the attention to detail in the caulking and grout lines? and how flush everything is. My only regret is that American Bath only does bathrooms- I wish that they did whole house remodels (hint hint!!). So if you need bathroom work done (big or small), and you made it to the end of my review, you should absolutely call American Bath! We signed up American Bath to remodel one bathroom around the first of the year and were so impressed with their work that we immediately signed them up to remodel our other 2 bathrooms. In short, they did what they said they would do, when they said they would do it, and for the price they said they would do it for. No gimmicks, no nonsense, just exceptional workmanship. We met with 4 contractors before beginning our first bathroom renovation. American Bath's proposal was far and away the most comprehensive and professional. What the company would do, as well as what we would be responsible for, was clearly spelled out in the proposal. For each bathroom project, the crew started on a Monday and stayed on the job until it was completed 5 days later. Unlike some contractors who subcontract various parts of the job, American Bath's experienced crew handled all aspects of the job (tile, electrical, plumbing, etc.) themselves, so there was no delay waiting for subs to show up. And the work the crew did was exemplary. We'd hire American Bath again in a heartbeat, but we don't have any bathrooms left to renovate!

My vision for my bathroom was to have new tile, sink, toilet, and have a bench in the shower, but to have this I had to have a wall built in the bathroom, new mirror with a light fixture over the mirror and paint the bathroom. When I say transformation that's what it was. Okay on February 8th I met Jasen and Matt (oh by the way they were on time)... Jasen explained everything to me. He went back over what Ron and I had discussed, about what was going to be done to the bathroom and he told me that it will take two weeks to complete. Jasen told me that he will be taking everything out of the bathroom and replacing it with new things and retiling the floor, then he was going to paint. He explained everything to me all the way down to the knobs on the faucet. Jasen said once they start taking everything out that him and Matt will clean up after themselves (which they did every day). There was no mess left behind...Yayyyy...He also said when the job was completed that they would remove everything off of the premises that they had taken out of the bathroom.. (Which they did). Okay so they started working on the bathroom. I left and came back. The walls were gone..wow the transformation had started. Jasen kept me abreast of every step of the way with this new project. If there were new pipes that had to be installed or whatever it was he made sure I knew of it. He did not hide nothing. Just to let you know this was an old, very old house. The next day I believe the tub was gone..yall i didnt have a tub. Every day Jasen and Matt made sure that the goal was to complete this project in two weeks. They had a lot to do just because the house is an old house. Friday, the last day of that week everything was gone. The following week came, I could not believe my eyes. The wall was put up, the bottom of the shower was put in, tile was put up, the walls were painted, medicine cabinet put in, sink, faucets everything was done. I was in awe. I couldn't believe my eyes. My vision was completed. I wish they could have remodeled my whole house. If there is any bathroom remodeling that I would ever need done again, I will not hesitate in recommending this company. I will definitely ask for Jasen and Matt. You guys are the best and I greatly appreciate everything that you have done to my bathroom. THANK YOU AMERICAN BATH FAMILY.
Description of Work: First, Ron came out I showed him my bathroom and I explained to him the vision that I had for it. Everything that I wanted done to my bathroom and what I wanted in it. He understood my vision. He went over everything with me about him and the company. Ron showed me pictures of other jobs he had done and explained to me how long he was in the business, how long it would take, for the job to be done and the cost. He was very patient with me, any questions that I asked he took the time in answering them for me. Which was a big A plus with me. After that he said that I would not see him anymore and my project will start on February 8th at that time I will meet Jasen and Matt. Thank you Ron, I appreciate you!

When Ron, the owner, came to look at the job, I could see immediately that hew knew exactly what had to be done as well as what I wanted to have done. Two other firms had said that fixing the problem would require much more work--removing and replacing much more tiles, plumbing fixtures, etc--and therefore would cost considerably more. Moreover, he sat down then and there, and wrote out the estimate. Jasen and his helper Matt spent a week on the project, which had to be carried out in a number of steps due to drying times. They were extremely punctual, worked hard, and were exceptionally clean. Jasen explained to me the details of the job as he went along, and both were fun to talk to and get to know. The work was top quality, and in addition blended very well with the existing tiles.

I just want to thank American Bath for the wonderful job they did renovating my two bathrooms. When I had to suddenly replace another contractor, I found myself with a living room and dining room full of tiles, toilets, vanities, and a multitude of hardware pieces. I had previously considered using American Bath, so I reached out to them again. Not only did Ron Wood, the company owner, provide a clearly detailed job specification with associated pricing, but he called another client and rearranged the work schedule so that they could start on my reno two weeks earlier so I could regain the use of my house. The work crew, Rob and Bob, were a delight to work with, and worked hard to make the experience as painless as possible. They kept the house as clean as possible, and kept me up-to-date on everything that was going on. They would check with me immediately if they had a question about something, and when they had a question about installing the shower diverter they called the company and talked with them. I was extremely pleased with the quality of their work. They stayed right on budget, with an increase to do two things I requested: 1) fix the living room ceiling after the leaky tub was fixed (they found 4 leaks!) and 2) bump out the wall in the closet so the shower appliances I had purchased would fit. The amount they charged me was certainly fair for the work involved, and the results are great. I would absolutely recommend American Bath to anyone, and am totally confident they would immediately respond if I had a problem - but I haven?t had any. They really came through for me and I?m very pleased with the result. I think my water bill has gone up by a factor of three because I can now enjoy taking a soaking bath whenever I want!

DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME WITH THIS GUY -- READ ON FOR WHAT REALLY HAPPENED! As a result of the high rating on Angie's List, I called this provider to arrange a meeting for an estimate of cost on remodeling a 150 sf master bathroom. Upon my initial call, I spoke to the owner's son, and informed him of my general plans to remove my tub and relocate my shower to the tub area along with installing a steam shower, replacing the cabinetry, etc. The young man informed me that I would have to wait 2 weeks to meet with the owner, Ron Wood. He touted how his father provides very personal service and would easily be able to complete this renovation in a timely fashion. I asked him about their company's experience, renovation ideas, and material selections. He responded that Ron would show me on his computer a gallery of other projects that they completed and discuss all of this with me to assist with final plans and material selections. On 10/27/15, Ron Wood appeared at my home as scheduled. I promptly showed Ron to a bathroom upstairs that we just recently renovated to give him some idea of the material selections we might seek. I then showed him the master bath. I immediately gave him my minimum requirement of a large steam shower and asked for his ideas for a total renovation of this bathroom. He had no suggestions. I then thought to myself, ok, there must be some reason why he got all of these great reviews on Angie's. I proceeded to tell him to price replacing the large soaking tub with the new shower, close off a window since there was already a skylight above, replace the toilet, sink and counter, remove the soffit, install new tile work, and add a linen closet where the old shower was previously located. He said his work would take 2 weeks and the glass wall and door for the shower would take 3 weeks thereafter. I asked him if permits were going to be pulled and he said, "Oh no, they are just too time consuming to work with and if i wanted to work with him, the work would be performed by his highly experienced professionals but it would be without permits." I said ok and moved on. I then asked to see some photos I was promised of the hundreds of bathrooms that Ron has renovated over the recent years. He said he didn't have any with him and handed me a typed page of references and description of the type of work they perform. All of the work that I requested and far beyond was within the scope of what was listed on his promotional materials. It also highlighted that he was "licensed, bonded and insured, MHIC #34670-01". At the end of our 45 minute meeting, Ron said he would have a price estimate for all the work within a few days. 4-5 hours later, I received an email from Ron as follows: "I want to apologize for your time and inconvenience, but after seeing the scope of your job I am not comfortable providing you an estimate. Your job absolutely should be permitted, which as mentioned I do not get involved in permitted jobs, so I wouldn't feel comfortable putting myself in that position. I wish you the best with the project and I hope I haven't caused you any undue delay." What kind of licensed or experienced contractor takes this position? Not only that, in a business that specializes in bathroom renovations, which always requires some level of electrical, plumbing, mechanical and wall renovations, how could you not either be prepared to obtain permits or alternatively just move forward and ignoring them. I clearly spooked this contractor just by asking about whether or not his price would reflect permits for the project. I'm not sure how this contractor could possibly be in the bathroom renovation business unless he just insists on working with customers that have no idea of the work that he is performing in almost all cases technically requires a permit. Be sure not to ask him about permits if you want to use this contractor. Shame on Angie's List for giving this contractor their Super Service Award.

To be kind, let me say there are some truths to this review, the vast majority of statements are either fabricated or possibly an honest mistake on this individual’s part. When we were contacted by this person the first thing we were told about was a story regarding a previous contractor who was recommended to him by his brother. He met with this contractor in his home and had multiple contacts with this individual. The problem was this contractor (who was recommended to him by his brother) refused to give him a written estimate. To be honest, after meeting with this individual in his home let’s just say I completely understand the first contractor’s reaction. How do you explain that to an individual without being insulting? As noted by this individual in his review above, I did try to be as polite and professional as possible in declining to work for him. This is a very rare situation that my comfort level with a customer would prevent me from providing a proposal. Please note this is only the third negative review we have had in over a half dozen years. The previous two we never stepped foot in the customers home and this time I obviously did enter the home and realized it was a mistake in a very short period of time.

Removed all fixtures and materials for replacement from the premises. Installed a bathtub, including new drain and overflow, and tub faucet and shower head. Installed ceramic tile on floor and wall around tub, which went all the way to the ceiling. Installed a marble window sill. Installed toilet, installed vanity top and cabinet, installed a large mirror and light fixtures above the mirror. They also prepared the wall to be painted, installed the towel bar and toilet paper holder and a new heat register. When I met with Ron, he was so easy to talk to. There was absolutely no pressure for me to do anything. I told him what I wanted, and he gave me the information I needed to pick out the tile I wanted and where the best place was to get the vanity I told him I wanted. The installer, Jason and his assistant, Dale were fantastic. They did everything they said they were going to do and finished on time. I know there were times I got on their nerves, but they never let me know it. They were always calm, polite, and very professional. I also enjoyed talking with the office manager, Stephanie. She was so helpful and I appreciated all the information she provided during the process. From the owners to their staff I could not have worked with a better company.

We were very pleased with American Bath from start to finish. They showed up promptly to look at the project, and providing detailed, typed estimates for two different approaches (building out this non-standard space to take a pre-fab shower unit, or creating a custom-sized shower with tile). The estimates looked profession, with specified products, and the estimator was willing to discuss the two different options. New estimates were provided when we made a few substitutions on the products. The office staff was pleasant -- communication, mostly by e-mail ,was efficient. The company kept us in the loop with the scheduling. The workers showed up promptly in the morning, were pleasant, and stayed focused on their work, and seemed to know their business. They warned us when there was going to be some loud noise ( with jackhammers to lay the plumbing), and explained some changes that had to be made mid-project. They kept things reasonably neat in the surrounding area. The project finished right on schedule. And the results look very good -- neat and nicely finished.
