Hidey's Landscape Supply Yard is a local family owned business since 1988. From landscape supplies (mulch, soils, stones, play chips, wood chips, compost, sand, gravel, firewood, wood pellets, sawdust and wood shavings), we have grown to include the sales, service and rentals of Hidey's Custom Golf Carts, specializing in Star, E-Z-GO, Club Car, and Yamaha. As well as providing Hidey's Roll Off Rentals. All of our mulches are heat treated to be weed, seed, and insect free. They are manufactured on site without any pallet or scrap wood with owner oversight ensuring a high quality product. The mulch is available in bulk or bags. Our screened topsoil is 50% enriched with compost and stored undercover so you can have a dark rich product that is easily rakeable on even wet days. It also is available in bulk or bags. All of our bulk products are sold by cubic yard for a consistent volume wet or dry. We are always available during regular business hours to help you calculate the correct volume of product for your job. We also split hardwood with a state of the art wood processor and deliver it to your home ready to burn. The wood averages 18" in length and is available by the cord, the 1/2 cord, the scoop, and the 6 piece bundle. If you have a wood pellet stove, our premium hardwood pellets by O'Malley burn between 8200-8300 BTU's and generate less than 1% ash content. They are available for pick up or delivery as are all of our products. Hidey's Roll Off Service is available to rent cans for construction debris, yard debris, or home cleaning. We also can deliver sawdust/wood shavings in a can and haul back manure. Our rental includes the drop off and pick up of the can in a timely manner. If you desire, we can deliver firewood or landscape supplies in the can and waive the delivery cost with the can rental. Hidey's is looking out for your needs and is available to recommend products to enhance the exterior appearance of your property. Hidey's professional and friendly staff will try to accommodate your requests to the best of their ability.
"After a dump truck drops a bad load firewood, wood scraps, dirt and stone in the middle of a driveway, there is no good fix. Last fall we placed an internet order and paid for 2 cords of firewood for $450 plus delivery from what we thought was a reputable vendor. We couldn’t see the wood in the delivery truck. After dumping the driver commented on the poor quality and said we could exchange the very large pieces and small scraps. After doing some sorting we called Hideys to figure out how such a misconception occurred, what we could do this year and future years. We received a very mixed attitude. They couldn’t come look at our problem. Two of us went to Hideys to meet with their office manager. We were looking for how this went bad, whether Hidey’s could be our long term supplier, or, how to select another vendor. She acknowledged the bad shipment but continued with attitude and excuses ... we didn’t understand what bulk firewood is, we should have ordered premium, we could put the big wood in fireplace diagonally… and on and on. She showed us wood cleaning equipment I understood was new. I later read a review that stated this equipment was new the previous year. Hidey’s measures cords by a number of scoops from a loose thrown firewood dump. ------ [*** Link removed ***] ---- A loose thrown cord should take up about 180 cubic feet (6.66 cubic yards or 5.1 cubic meters) of space as is. The idea is that, when stacked, the total volume would equal roughly 128 cubic feet (3.5 cubic meters), or the volume of a full cord. A "thrown" cord takes approximately 30%+- more space than a stacked cord. A typical pickup truck w/ 6ft. bed is 54 cubic feet (2 cubic yards - level load-Stacked); an 8ft. bed is 81 cubic feet (3 cubic yards - heaped load- Stacked). Remembering now! that "thrown" takes 30%+- more (space) than stacked. Therefore a 6ft. truckload has 30%+- of a "thrown" cord; an 8ft. truckload has 45%+- of a "thrown" cord. -------- Hidey’s gave us an adjustment of a pickup full of loose thrown wood and we left. Neither of us was impressed or interested in future business. After sorting and stacking all the wood, at that time, we figured it was about a full cord. A little hard to know because the log size varied so much. We shoveled the dirt, rock and wood scraps into carts and dumped it in a low spot. Yesterday we received 4 cords of mixed hardwood from a new supplier. We could see the wood on the trailer. Good clean mostly even cut wood. Three pieces started and burned well. These cords must be metric because they are bigger than Hidey’s. The crew helped me stack much and showed me the best way. If Hidey’s simply supplied this quality wood I’d be using them annually. This vendor supplied better wood at a lower price with better service. I gave a bonus and now consider them my wood supplier. I now feel comfortable reviewing bulk firewood! Any company can have a bad day or delivery. How that company then handles things makes all the difference."

The average cost of playground equipment installation is around $500, and most homeowners pay between $330 and $700, excluding the cost of the playground equipment itself. Your total project cost will depend on site preparation requirements, playset size, design complexity, number of accessories, and the swing set materials. Don’t forget to account for the cost of playground surfacing, which can cost between $15 to $160 per cubic yard or $225 per cubic yard for poured rubber.
It may be tempting to DIY the construction of a swing set to save money, but we don’t recommend it. Since children will use the swing set, the entire system must be solid and safe, meaning the cost savings aren’t worth potentially endangering them. Plus, most DIYers will have to build their swing sets out of wood, which won’t last as long as metal or vinyl and introduces the risk of splinters. Instead, hire a local playground equipment installer to ensure the swing set is built safely and efficiently, setting up your kids for fun for years to come.
Rubber mulch is widely considered the best material to place under a playset. This material option provides more cushioning than traditional wood mulch for added protection, remains cooler than sand and most other materials in direct sunlight, and it’s low maintenance. Rubber mulch is slightly more expensive than other common options at $120 per cubic yard on average, whereas pine bark mulch is $30 per cubic yard. But when it comes to your children’s safety, the investment is worthwhile. Consult your playground equipment installation company about material recommendations before starting this project.
Whether or not you need a permit to install a playground depends on where you live, as some cities require it and others don’t. You can contact your local building department to find the answer or ask your playground equipment installer if you need a permit. Reputable playground equipment companies will know the laws in your area and can help you apply for the permit and coordinate inspections. Building permits cost $250 to $2,000 for outdoor projects.
In most cases, your professional playground installer will put down a playground surface before assembling the fun-filled system. However, you should ask your installer about this service before booking an installment date. Most playground equipment installation companies offer service add-ons like leveling the area, laying down a surface, building a border to keep the surface material contained, and setting up the swing set.
