Cleartree

This was a brilliant experience from start to finish! I called Cleartree because of their high rating on Angie's List. Estimate: Mike was delayed to the estimate appointment due to true emergency, and he called right away to let me know he would be delayed. He was apologetic as well, even though he was not at fault for the situation causing the delay. He was actually at the hospital helping someone else. He called a few times to update me on the evolving situation, and wanted to make sure I'd be around when he arrived. Mike called again just prior to arriving, and when he showed up, he was professional and thorough in his explanation in what would be involved to remove the tree. He explained the various options for taking the tree down (climb vs. bucket truck vs. crane, etc), the pros and cons of each, along with his suggestion for the best approach. His overview of the company, crew, and procedures was better than anyone I've dealt with before. He explained the proper procedures for proof of insurance, and supplied me with written proof as well as email proof from the insurance company. By doing this, the insurance company was demonstrating his policies were current and in good standing. Due to the danger of the tree to the house, he expedited the job and was able to come out two days later. He indicated the crew would be out at 7:45 am, and at 7:45 am "on the dot", they arrived. Mike was there to give the crew a final check on the work. His crew of 5 people included (another) Mike as the crew chief/bucket worker along with 4 other ground workers. Once they got underway, Mike the owner chatted with me one last time and then was off to do some additional estimates for other customers. Several on the crew (including Mike the crew chief) have been with the company since it started, for over 11 years. Mike started removing some of the lower limbs for the chipper, and he noticed I was watching. He stopped, and I saw home lower the bucket to the truck while he fished around in a job box for something. He handed something to a ground worker, and he came to me and I learned they offered me some earplugs from their kit so I could be comfortable and watch. Mike went back up to the tree, and then I saw him help a tree snake (prarie king snake - very docile) down. It was up about 30 feet on a limb. I walked over to see it, and he asked if I wanted to hold it. Snakes don't bother me so I took it, and walked it to some other trees on my property. The crew worked in harmony and the tree was safely down in about 2 hours. They cleaned up perfectly and thoroughly. Mike (the owner) texted me right away to make sure all was good and I was happy). I let him know that this was the best experience I've had with a company contracted for work. I would not hesitate to call Cleartree for any future work, and they will be the first (and only call) i'll make. No need searching for the best deal/company when I already know the answer! (And +1 for Angie's list, they have come through yet again, as always!)

WOW...What a company! We wanted to have a tree removed asap... Mike came out today 6/1/15 around noon wrote us a reasonable estimate and at 2:15pm the crew was walking up our driveway to get the job done! Now that's service and it was with a smile too! The guys that came out were so professional and pleasant. They went to work and in no time flat you would have never known they had been here! They removed the huge tree, cleaned & hauled everything away. If you ever need a real professional team to do any kind of tree work...CLEARTREE IS YOUR COMPANY !!! By far the best customer service I've received. Mike, the owner, came out for the estimate, and in less than 24 hours the project was done. He gave me several pricing options, and was more than willing to work with me on the price. The crew was very efficient, and my neighbors and I still can't believe what an amazing job they did in such a short amount of time.

I did not see them. I am pleased with the extra little things they do to want the customer service in the future. It is nice that they take that kind of care and it was very unexpected that they sent me a card thanking me for the business. I thought that was very nice.

I have to say that Cleartree and their workers were amazing. They worked hard and were very efficient and polite. There appeared to be two crew bosses, Carey and Mike. Cleartree sent out multiple crews so the job could be completed in one day as we are having other work done on our property. Tom Weigl was our initial contact person who came out and gave us the estimate. Tom was also very polite, knowledgeable and professional. I felt that he gave us a very fair price for all of the work that was being done. He also was on-hand on the day of the job to make sure that everything was clear to his staff. He stayed for a good while when the work began. I really have to rave about the clean up job that the workers did. All yard debris including some old fallen leaves and sticks were raked up and removed along with the on-site mulching of the tree and shrub debris. They even leveled the areas where the grinder was used so the dirt was level with the surrounding grassy areas. It was clear to me that this company knew their trade, wanted to do an excellent job and were customer service oriented. They are also licensed tree experts, so I felt peace of mind that the large trees that were directly near my house would be removed the right way. I give them an A plus rating. They are excellent and I would highly recommend them. The owner of the company, Mike Kasun, also sent a thank you letter which I thought was very nice.

I called ClearTree to arrange for an estimate on a Wednesday and the appointment was made for 2 days later. The representative, Tom Weigl, arrived on time and was very helpful and knowledgeable. We walked the yard as I explained what we needed and he wrote a very fair proposal. Based on this meeting and the outstanding ratings we found on Angies List for this company, I accepted the proposal. The amount of work was extensive. We had three fairly large pear trees, one small and one large dogwood trees that we wanted to be cut down and removed. We also had a very large pin oak tree that needed extensive pruning, along with six large bushes that also need to be pruned. Tom advised me that the owner, would call on Monday to schedule the work. I received the call as promised and we arranged to have the work done on the following Monday. Monday morning arrived and so did the crew, on time. The crew leader, Cary, introduced himself and we reviewed the work to be done and the crew went to work. I was so impressed with the workmanship of this crew. They knew exactly what to do and how to do it. When they were finished, the yard was left completely cleaned of all evidence the trees were every there. The large oak was beautiful once it was so properly pruned. The bushes also looked good. I was completely happy with the work. I would highly recommend ClearTree.

The crew was great. There was a lot of work and they had a lot of people out here, they cleaned up after themselves. Their truck damaged my driveway and the owner worked out a deal with me to fix it.

I called 3 different companies for estimates. Cleartree had the best price if I waited until January. They offered a discount for January and also an Angies list discount. They showed up promptly with several crews and equipment. Both trees were removed, along with all debris. The total time was approximately 8 hrs.

We are so glad we went with Cleartree to remove the large pine tree from our house. Mike and his team were very professional and did an amazing job. We were very impressed with how well they communicated throughout the entire process?from initial contact, getting an estimate, to the actual removal of the tree (and they even followed up with a note after completing the job!). The quote for stump grinding we received from them was a little higher than others, but it was definitely worth it?they went probably a foot below grade and followed the large roots about 10ft square leaving our lawn completely flat and ready for grass. This is far superior from what we believed we would have received from any of the other quotes/companies. While on the job they were very cautious and careful while removing limbs and the trunk of the tree, which was very much appreciated as it was very close to our house and power lines. I was also very impressed that they sent an appointment card in the mail after scheduling the removal of the tree and they even called the day before to remind/confirm and arrived promptly the day of. Highly recommend to anyone looking to have trees removed!

In July 2014, two large branches fell from a towering Poplar in our backyard. It crashed through our roof into our bedroom and funneled the rain directly onto the carpeted floor. Given that this was the second tree branch in five years that fell on our roof we decided to bite the bullet and cut the three trees down. They were there before we came and each one was at least 60 feet high and were too close for comfort. They were growing on a slope behind a retaining wall and were in a spot that was too close to the BGE utility electric lines. I contacted several tree companies and everyone who came out looked at the trees with apprehension and said that we needed a large crane. However, since there was no street nearby it meant that we needed a huge crane with a long boom that would be parked in our drive way and would have to haul the tree over our house. If anything fell it would crush our house underneath. In addition, the crane alone would cost anywhere from $9-12,000 for one day. Each of the estimates that came in from the tree companies used a crane and had no details in them whatsoever. Finally, another contractor who did our retaining wall recommended ClearTree and gave me Mike Kasun's number. I called him and he was very pleasant on the phone. We scheduled a time to meet and he was punctual and super professional. He looked at the trees and carefully went around and inspected them from different angles. I asked him if he needed a crane and he said absolutely not. He said that a crane at that distance would be too dangerous, not only because it can damage the house but it would be dangerous for his men who would be climbing the trees, since the crane operator would not be able to see them clearly. He explained a detailed plan that would use zip lines and pulleys and they would be able to do the whole thing without a crane. He pointed out the difficulty of carrying the wood up onto the retaining wall but he devised a clever way to do that. After that he sent me a detailed estimate with all the different things that he will do including a discount if we did all three trees together. He also honored his Angie's List discount. The price was less than renting a crane alone. There were some weather delays and unexpected delays from BGE, but when he started work he got it all done in a couple of days. There was no trace that the trees existed except for the low tree stumps at the bottom. After that stellar job I asked him to evaluate whether any other trees need to be cut down to avoid damage in the future. To be honest I felt that there were at least 20 trees that could be cut. He brought an expert and they both looked at everything and Mike said that he only recommended cutting down two more Poplars that may cause us trouble in the next 10 years. He felt it wasn't necessary to spend money to cut anything else down. Once again he arranged with BGE and his team cut everything down as promised. That night when BGE didn't come back to reconnect the lines, I couldn't get a live person on the phone. Mike kept calling his contact at BGE and stayed in touch with me until the power was reconnected by 11 pm. That was not his fault at all, but he insisted on handling it until it got fixed. After cutting the last two trees, they left the tree trunks on the slope to save us money since hauling those logs over the top of the retaining wall could only be done manually and could cost us a lot of money. However, when I pointed out that the land on the slope did not belong to us and we needed to remove them, he brought out his chief engineer and they devised a way to bring them down the slope which ended up costing us less money. There were some delays on the way but none of them were Mike's fault. The weather was a factor and obviously they couldn't cut the trees down when it was pouring rain or extremely windy. However, Mike would contact me by email or phone and promptly reschedule it to his next available time slot (a major bonus was he excellent communication via email and phone). Another couple of times BGE dropped the ball and canceled the day the power should have been disconnected. Mike would promptly let me know and reschedule again. To be honest I can't say enough good things about Mike and his professional team. After they finished the cleaned out the backyard and they did such a good job that my wife remarked that it was like those trees had never existed. Mike was the only one who was upfront about how his men were insured and covered for liability. He even sent us a copy of the insurance policy (none of the other big name companies did that). What was really impressive to me is how Mike behaved as if he was doing the work at his own house. He was careful to inform me about all the costs (hidden and otherwise) and I always felt that he wanted to get the best work done at the best price possible. When I asked him if it is OK to fix the roof or if we should wait until the trees were cut to avoid any potential damage, he said that we should absolutely go ahead and fix it, and if any accident happens with the trees, he would pay for it. That was impressive to me since he could have just asked us to delay the roof repair. To summarize, ClearTree is an excellent company and Mike Kasun is a real professional. I would definitely ask him to do more work in the future and would highly recommend him and his company to anyone else who needs a tree expert.

When Mike Kasum, the owner of Cleartree, came to see me and give an estimate he walked me around my property and pointed out what each tree needed as far as pruning and trimming. He was a very knowledgeable and pleasant gentleman. He offered me a discount if I waited until November, and gave me 2 prices. One price was to do a regular trim and the other was to do a thorough trim and topping off of the larger trees. He explained that because of way the trees were cut previously, they needed to be thinned and topped off to make them remain healthy. On the day of the trim the crew arrived and did a very professional job. My front and back lawn were full of leaves before they arrived. After the cutting/trimming they even went to my neighbors lawn and blew the leaves that had fallen from my trees over to y property and then proceeded to remove all of the leaves and twigs and debris. Anything that was moved for the trim/cut was back in it's place. The place looked great. They did a terrific job! I am very, very pleased.

They were very good. It was better than I expected. They did the job well. They cleaned up when they were finished. They were lower than another estimate that I got.

Our large Bradford Pear tree split in half during a storm. I called several companies, and ClearTree was very prompt in returning my call. They came out and gave us an estimate to remove the tree and grind down the stump, as well as trim other trees in our yard and remove the debris. After getting other estimates, we decided to have ClearTree perform the work. When I called to schedule the appointment, the office staff was extremely friendly and helpful. On the day the work was done, ClearTree arrived on schedule and started working. Both my husband and I were out of the house that day, but upon our arrival home we found that not only did ClearTree do the work contracted to do, but also cleared our yard of leaves! They left our yard in great condition! I would certainly recommend them to anyone looking to have tree work done.

They called and arranged a good time to come for an estimate. Arrived on time, answered our questions, discussed what they would do and associated costs. They called with a date and time they would do the work. They arrived on time, discussed with me what they would be doing in detail, and performed the work in a very professional manner. Very pleased with the work performed. Everything was cleaned up before they left. It looked better than it did before they started.

Mike was very responsive with getting an appointment for the estimate. He knew my husband was anxious to get the work completed so he could seed the lawn and Mike fit us in the following Saturday. The crew was very careful with our yard, driveway, fence and deck. They took great care and their price was very competitive.

In April, Mike came to my house to check out the job. He explained there were couple of options for the job. When he sent the estimate, it reflected exactly what we discussed. I took a few weeks to decide what to do then scheduled the work for July 29th. On the scheduled date, the Cleartree crew arrived on time and started work right away. There were definitely enough members on the crew to get this job done (and done right!). The trees (4) on my neighbor's property are pretty big and needed major trimming. Several large branches from one tree were hanging over my house. The Cleartree team was able to safely remove the branches without damaging my property. For this job, there was one tree on my property which needed to be removed. It was positioned behind my shed and next to the back fence. They were able to take that tree down without any issues. When the job was completed, my property was totally cleaned-up and free of debris. Every aspect of this experience was easy for me. What a professional group of people -from Mike, the office personnel and the crew. I highly recommend Cleartree and will definitely use them again.

They are wonderful to deal with. They did an excellent estimate. They helped with a problem and referred me to another company because of a dead tree. They went above and beyond. I’m going use them soon.

Service is excellent! Mike gave us the most thorough consultation by far. We knew every detail of how the project would take place. Their work was timely and exactly what we asked for. They also fit us in as an emergency visit following a winter storm where tree limbs fell on our roof. We have already used them for additional service, and we will be contacting them for future jobs.

Mike and his crew were great. Mike came and surveyed the property, gave some thoughts/advice on what needed to be done, what could be done, what should be done now vs. later, etc. Was prompt with the estimate and the service. The price is not bargain, probably a touch over the average. But... the quality of the work, professionalism, and the 10% Angie's List discount easily make up for it. With regards to the stump, crew removed the chips and covered with soil so it's ready for grass... many service providers will grind and/or remove but then you're left with a big hole or bare spot. This extra attention shows he understands what people want and need.

Mike and co were great to work with. Responsive, professional, followed thru and reasonable. Next time you need tree work done give Mike a call...I know I will.

We originally contacted Cleartree in Dec. 2013 to provide an estimate for removing three large maple trees. Tom came out within a couple of days and provided a detailed estimate that evening. We had obtained estimates from two other tree services and decided to go with Cleartree. Due to fiscal constraints, we decided to postpone the work. We contacted Cleartree again in late Feb. 2014 to complete another estimate. The work load increased due to damage to many of our trees caused by the severe ice storms in Feb. Tom again provided a timely and detailed estimate. We felt the cost was high. Mike Kasum, the owner, came out and met with us in order to see how the cost could be adjusted. After negotiating further, we agreed on a price and we were put on the schedule for April 21 and 22, 2014. In an act of good faith, Mike had his guys come shortly after we reached agreement to clean up the front yard since it would be month before they could start the project. This was greatly appreciated. On the morning of the 21st, I contacted Tom about some last minute instructions. Tom indicated he would not be on site even though the proposal specifically said he would be. Tom did eventually meet the crew to relay our instructions. The proposal specified that branches 3-18 inches in diameter would be left for us to cut into firewood lengths. Unfortunately, the crew chipped all branches under 7 inches in diameter. This was disappointing as that amounted to a lot of wood that we intended to burn in our wood stove. We contacted Mike about this issue and he agreed to provide a cord of wood to replace the wood that was chipped or credit us $200. We chose the wood and felt this was fair resolution. Overall, we are happy with the work that was done and are very pleased. Cleartree was careful about not disturbing a new drain field and lawn. They cleaned up as promised. Our neighbors have had nothing but compliments and some have asked for Cleartree's contact information. We felt Mike sincerely wanted to please us and did so by his actions and professionalism. We would use them again and highly recommend. Cleartree did honor its advertised 10% discount for Angie's List members. Thanks again Mike for a great job!

Overall, my experience with Clear Tree was nothing but positive. I contacted Mike on Monday and told him that I am having a new deck installed in my backyard next week and that I needed to have some stumps ground around my existing deck. I also asked for an estimate to take down a tree in the front of my home. Mike said he was very busy with tree removals right now but that he did not want to let me down so he looked at his schedule and said he would send someone to my home the next day to write up an estimate, which he said he would email to me that evening. True to his word, I had a written estimate in my email box the next Tuesday night, which clearly broke down each portion of the work and then applied the Angie's List 10% discount. Mike said he would be able to grind the stumps in my backyard before my deadline and TBD on the tree removal (which I was ok with, since the backyard was my immediate concern). I received an email on Thursday that they were going to fit me in on Friday and once again, he was true to his word. The truck showed up late Friday afternoon and ALL the work was completed. I was so impressed by Mike's professionalism that I sent the guy to my neighbor's house, who worked a deal on the spot to have one of his tree's removed as well. In sum, ClearTree was able to take care of the work I needed, when I needed it. I am not sure if I could have gotten the work cheaper, but there is something to be said for running a business where your customer's needs come first. I would recommend them highly for any tree removal services you may be considering.

I purchased an Angie's List Big Deal for this service and it was great. They did a great job and I had no problems at all. They did a neat and tidy job. They cleaned up extremely well and I was quite happy with it. My interaction with the provider was fine. I think the owner of the company was there and my work was out of his service area, which was not clearly stated in the ad so we added another $100 to the Big Deal price to cover his additional efforts in getting out here. They got out here as soon as they could, considering the weather. I was completely satisfied with the fact that they could not have done it anytime sooner. It was very convenient as far as I was concerned. Their price was fair and the quality of work was very good.
