Since they don't label and write each box and piece of furniture, the loading and unloading went quickly. All 3 men were in a good mood even after the long drive and unloading the truck. It was in October and no one was too hot or cold which probably makes it easier.
Description of Work: 3 nice men came and took quite a few pieces of furniture and about 100 boxes 120 miles to my new house. The furniture was in good condition when uploaded. The boxes were all in good condition except for one box that was damaged while unloaded I believe

This move made my 8th move using a professional mover. All moves have been to different states. We have previously used packing services on 6 of the moves. We have used United/Mayflower on all moves except one. Based on my experience, I know what to expect from these moves. The quality of your experience depends on who shows up at your house to perform the service. My decision to utilize United came from my previous experience with their company and we were moving to an area we had lived before. We had used United during that previous move several years before and had a good experience with the local United agent in that area. I knew the local agent would be providing help for the delivery process. That was why I decided to go with United. When I called about getting an estimate, they sent someone from VIP transport. The estimator from VIP set up an appointment to come out and view our belongings. He was late for our appointment but called to let me know. He was professional and friendly. He was able to provide an estimated cost for our move that same day. The move coordinator was friendly. There was not too much contact between us. There was less contact with her than with any previous move coordinators when we moved before. She was flexible in allowing me to change the dates when the closing of our house was delayed. I did notice on their estimate that they had left off a piece of furniture. I emailed her about it since it was a bed and they would need an additional mattress carton. I never heard anything back from her. If I could rate the packing service separately, I would give them a D. They showed up about 10:45am. There were four of them. I was surprised at the number since I have had only two packers show up in all previous moves. It turns out two of them were new so they were learning the ropes. They left quite a few of my belongings unpacked which I did not realize until after they left. I found all my coats unpacked. I had to go back and open up wardrobe boxes to try to fit the coats in. When I did that, I found lamps thrown in the bottom of the wardrobe boxes with shoes thrown around them. These were breakable lamps. They left all my make-up and toiletry items unpacked which by the way I had nicely arranged in these small plastic bins to make it easier to pack. One guy said they do not pack any liquids (shampoo, soap, etc) when the information states they do not pack flammable liquids. They did not pack any lightbulbs (the old fashioned type...not the new energy saving ones) because I quote "they might break and get on your belongings". They did not pack my bedding on 3 of my beds. They did not pack my dog beds stating that they could just throw them into the moving truck to provide extra cushioning. They did not remove or pack any of my glass shelves from my china cabinet. They did not provide a carton or pack my guest bedroom dresser mirror which is old, antique type furniture. The top of my mirror broke off during the move. I took a picture of it to document the damage. It has moved on all previous moves and was always packed in a picture type carton. Never had a problem until this time. I was up until 3:30 am packing my belongings and even had to go out to a Staples to buy extra boxes. Several of my boxes were not labeled. They had not even written our name much less what was in them. I sent emails to the move coordinator to express my disappointment. I don't fault the new guys; they did not know nor where they getting good direction from the one who appeared to be in charge. I would have been better off packing it myself but like I said, your satisfaction depends on who shows up at your door. On the positive side, my high value items arrived unbroken. The next day, the driver and his helper came to move out our furniture. I would give them an A+. They were both professional and they worked very hard all day. They had to pack 5 additional lamps since the packers did not complete their job. They also had to pack an additional high value item since a packer forgot to do that too. They worked well together. They treated our belongings with respect. They were there for 10 hours. I think they could have used an additional helper but only if it was someone who was willing to work. Our furniture was delivered in a timely fashion. The unloading process went well with three guys helping the driver. The driver and the helpers on moving out and in are the positive aspects of this company. They are the reason I answered yes to the question if I would use this company again. I wish they could reward the employees who worked so hard. The packers really disappointed me and that is why I am only giving them a C. I have had much better service from United before and they just did not live up to my expectations based on previous experiences with this company.

The move itself was fine. The movers came on time and they did not ask for more money but they did not put the furniture together properly. When I contacted the office, they said they would take care of it. I have heard nothing back from them since then, over 2 months now, despite repeated attempts to contact them.
Description of Work: The post-delivery service is non-existent.

I had a guaranteed price, witnessed by my housemate and they charged $500 more. I told him I wanted my cds and records separated because some of my things in storage. For a month he said he would come and help me sort through the storage unit. He always has excuses as to why he was not going to show up.

Poorly. The original pickup was fine. And the items were not damaged after a year in storage. But on delivery they were 3 hours late. The man in charge insisted many items could not be taken upstairs (saying it was too tight). Me and a friend later brought all the items upstairs by ourselves with no problem. There was a ton of room. They were very slow. And I found one worker asleep in my bathtub. That's right. Asleep in my bathtub. Then they billed me for 9 hours. Later I figured out it would have taken them 2 times as long to load the truck as it took them to unload. And they were very slow unloading. And they charged me for the time they were driving.
Description of Work: Moved me. Picked up, stored, and delivered.

WE SINCERELY APOLOGIZE FOR THE PROBLEMS THAT THE MEMBER HAD ON HIS MOVE. WE HAVE CHECKED OUR FILE AND WE HAVE NO RECEIPT OF ANY COMPLAINTS FROM HIM. AFTER FINDING A MAN ASLEEP IN MY BATH TUB I THINK I WOULD HAVE IMMEDIATELY CALLED THE COMPANY TO COMPLAIN AS I ALSO WOULD HAVE DONE IF THE DELIVERY WAS TAKING LONGER THAN ANTICIPATED. I CAN ASSURE YOU THAT HAD THE MEMBER NOTIFIED OUR OFFICE WE COULD HAVE TAKEN IMMEDIATE ACTION. HOWEVER, THIS IS THE FIRST WE HAVE HEARD OF THESE COMPLAINTS. ONCE AGAIN, WE APOLOGIZE FOR THE PROBLEMS YOU HAD BUT PLEASE IN THE FUTURE, ADVISE THE COMPANY THAT YOU ARE HAVING ISSUES WHEN THEY HAPPEN, NOT MONTHS AFTER THE FACT. SINCERELY, CATHY PEZ
