A light that had been working just fine for 17 years started blinking/flickering. Electrician investigated the situation and quickly determined the 2 wall switches had not been installed correctly and their connections had finally come loose. She replaced the 2 switches. Problem solved.

They arrived on time, very professional and knowledgeable. What impressed me the most was that they put booties over their shoes, so to not bring any dirt into my house. I would use them again. This was my first time using Angie's list and it went very well.

They came quickly and found an electrical short which was difficult to identifify.

Greg/Tristar was able to fit our repair in with short notice. The technician and her apprentice were very proficient and professional. We would definitely use their services again!

We were having our refrigerator repaired, when the repair man discovered that the outlet it was plugged into was not grounded. He would not do further repairs until we got the outlet fixed. I called TriStar around 1:30, and they had a technician to our house by 2:00! I could not have asked for better service - they diagnosed the problem, replaced the outlet, then offered to check over our electric panel at no charge. I recommend TriStar to everyone! If only I could say the same about the refrigerator repair man, but we're at the mercy of our warranty on that one.

Tristar's estimator came out and gave me an estimate which was about $1,500 less than a competitor to do the 'heavy up'. He also gave me what seemed like reasonable estimates of what it would cost to have other electrical work done in the house, and was professional, personable, and helpful. I believe their cost was fair, and certainly way below some other companies. I had the work done, and Greg in the office talked me through several times what would happen in terms of how Tristar would interface with Pepco for the inspection, etc. and it all happened just as he said. Very professional company and helpful workers. I'd definitely used them again.

Specifically: I wanted to have two (2) ceiling fans installed, installation of plugs and switches, and I thought I needed a dedicated circuit on my upper level and another dedicated circuit on my first level. Unfortunately and, even though I was out of TriStar’s service range Greg, the estimator/scheduler, took the time to discuss with me some possible options for addressing part of my needs i.e. using more efficient and/or smaller appliances. His tips could possibly save me unnecessary expense and were well worth the minor cost of trying them first. Actually, I already had energy efficient heaters in my house which was one of his recommendations. After talking with Greg I was so sorry that TriStar did not service my area. I choose TriStar because of its high rating and member comments on Angie’s List. After talking to Greg I also felt that I would have been dealing with a company that I could trust. When asked for a referral to another company, Greg suggested I continue to search on Angie’s List. Way to go Greg! Before ending our call I felt like I could not thank him enough for the time that he took to discuss my concerns and his (FREE) suggestions.

Deb arrived within the expected time frame, discovered the problem, and fixed it promptly. She also diagnosed another issue we can now fix ourselves. She was efficient and polite!

Debbie was our electrician and she was WONDERFUL! Would call Tristar Electric again without any hesitation, they are now OUR ELECTRICIANS!

Absolutely first-rate, A+ service from the initial call through the last minute of work. We could not have been more pleased. The ongoing telephone communication with Greg in the Tristar office was helpful, efficient and effective. Debbie came out and listened to us describe the work we wanted done. She laid out all of our options and did a fantastic job of helping us problem-solve our way to a plan of action. She gave us an estimate that turned out to be right on the mark. She did all of the work in one morning, demonstrating amazing skill at her craft. She encountered a couple of unexpected quirks while executing the plan, but quickly found workable detours that brought us the exact results we wanted. All of our electrical issues are now fully resolved, but we are searching for new ones just so we can have her back!

A very good experience. Troy and John wasted no time troubleshooting the problem. They isolated the fixture with the short and repaired it. Very pleased. Will definitely call Tri-Star again.

They were very responsive and provided a quick and respectable estimate to wire my basement. Their estimate to finish the basement was very competitive with two other electricians I called. My basement project is on a very tight budget, so I ended up going with another electrician that was cheaper. Tristar was very professional and we were going to go with them until the very last estimate came in. We look forward to working with Tristar in the future!

The replacing of our electrical panels turned out to be more complicated than first anticipated, but the wonderful and clever and talented Gary did arrange everything while being extremely careful and thoughtful. This is more than a first-rate operation. Scott and his team are just incredible!

Our fan was installed by Debbie whom we had do a small job relocating a thermostat two weeks ago. She was prompt ( loved that she could be here around 7 a.m.), efficient, and very professional. She also cleaned up the area very well. An excellent job.

It went very well. I was pleased with the overall service. The receptionist was friendly and helpful, obtained information about the work to be done and had a dispatcher call me shortly. Debbie and her assistant Cory arrived on time, made sure that everything was covered with plastic in the four rooms that they worked. Any mess that was made they cleaned up. They consulted with me whenever there was more than one way to do a particular task. She was very patient with me when I had produced the wrong type of power source for the track lighting, draw a diagram of what was required. While I was at the hardware store she continued to complete other parts of the job. The work was done efficiently, Debbie and Cory worked uninterrupted until the work was complete, which took about 5 hours. The work was done within the estimate that had been provided.

Overall, a very good experience with Tri-Star. The electrical work is second to none. However, I didn't have a good experience with their pluming subcontractor, J&R Plumbing of Millersville. I ended up having to hire AVS plumbing to correct their work. To date our generator system has run very well.

It was absolutely wonderful. I recommend them highly. They were prompt, neat, efficient, explained everything to me, and I couldn't have asked for better service. I would definitely use them again. I felt like the price was good, it wasn't one of Angie's List Super Deals because they were trying to get some for me along this line but I couldn't but they were perfect. They were just fantastic. I have nothing bad to say about them.

Greg was a pleasure to work with in estimating and scheduling the work. Troy was the lead electrician on the project and he did an excellent job. I was pleased with the outcome and would definitely use Tristar again.

I wanted to have a new Hunter Ceiling fan installed in the morning room of our new home, but couldn't reach the ceiling with the ladder I had. Decided to call an electrician to do the install and finally settled on TriStar Electric (from the HoCo Best Pick Reports book). Their price was about average from the other companies, but I liked talking with their customer rep over the phone to setup the appointment, which helped make the difference. On the day of install, they arrived 30mins early with 2 electricians dressed in nice uniforms, their van also looked very presentable. I'm assuming one was considered an apprentice with the master. Either way, they did a wonderful job and were very efficient and respectful to me and the house. They put on shoe covers upon entering and laid down plastic in their work area. Right after the prep, they immediately went to work installing the fan. I was very impressed with their knowledge of the Hunter fan w/ remote install and it was completed in less than 1hr of time to include wiring a new switch. I would highly recommend using TriStar electric to anyone.

We recently remodeled our 50-year old master bathroom from a 4 x 8 ft horrible space to a 8 x 13 wonderful room. Tri-star provided the electrical installation including custom light fixtures, a new jacuzzi, a heated floor and new exhaust fan. (I had pre-purchased these items.) Tri-star exhibited exceptional knowledge and professionalism. They were prompt and efficient and personable both in the office and with their crews in the field. The project took multiple visits to our house to work around the framer, the plumber, the fan installer, and the tiler (me). They were easy to coordinate and schedule to come in and do the work. They do work with permits and the building inspector passed their work with flying colors. Their crews are knowledgeable about the most recent advances in electrical devices and installed every-thing in a neat and professional manner. They kept both the work-site and surrounding areas clean and tidy. You could tell by the installation that they take pride in what they do. As one who manages large commercial construction projects for a living, I can attest that Tri-Star knows what they are doing. I highly recommend their work and would definitely use them again.

Did not use the provider due to expense and also due to their suggestion that they could wire up an alternative to a transfer switch that could potentially backfeed my electrical service.

Very professional and on time. Took the time to cover bed with plastic sheeting when working on ceiling fan. At first she just replaced the wall switch with one off the truck...was a bit disappointed with quality of the switch they carry, would suggest buying your own outlets/switches if they need replacing. New switch sparked a few times after install so after some discussion, she determined that because the fan had a remote installed it was likely competing with the wall switch and causing problems. Removed remote from fan because we never used it and the problem seems to have gone away, will keep a close on the switch over the next few days to make sure problems is actually resolved though she seemed confident that was the problem. I would definitely hire them again.
