I was very satisfied. Debbie arrived right on time, diagnosed the problem with the switch that I had mis-wired, and then installed the new light fixture. She worked quickly and efficiently, and she explained to me what she was doing and why. I would definitely use Tristar Electric again. In fact, I already have! I also want to compliment Greg, who seems to be in charge. He listened carefully to my description of the problem, provided a realistic estimate of the time required for the job and its potential cost (which turned out to be accurate), and was cheerful and pleasant to deal with. Overall this was a very positive experience.
Description of Work: The provider fixed a malfunctioning bathroom light switch that I had wired incorrectly, and then installed a new light fixture in that bath.

They did some good work. I used a $20 coupon out of the Angie's book. I got $20 off. Two out of the three lights had shorted out. My kitchen and dining room were so dark that you couldn't do anything. So I got these new fantastic lights that are just beautiful. They use less electricity and are good for 28 years, before they wear out. Isn't that neat? All electrical services are expensive. But, I got $20 off with the coupon. Two technicians came out. One was a lady. The lady was in charge. She was the electrician and then she had an assistant, who was male and a little shorter. He may have been foreign born but he knew good English. It was the second time I had them as a provider. They came and fixed something else for me before. They listened to everything I said.
Description of Work: They installed new lights that don't use light bulbs. I had three of them put in down here. I had a plug fixed in the living room that was broken. I had a new plug put in at the same place. In the bathroom, I needed a plug, where I could charge things and use a hair dryer and the Waterpik. I had a waterproof safety plug put in there, at the light switch, where I can plug in anything.

Debbie and Cliff came in and installed two new light fixtures, change out two electric switches (including a dimmer switch) and troubleshooter and found out and corrected why there was no power to the second bedroom /hallway light. Debbie has done work on my home in the past and would recommend this company to all my friends and family!

From the first contact in July to the completion of two service visits in October and November, this company is an A+++++. My work schedule was ridiculous but they corresponded back and forth with me for over two weeks to pin down a date that worked for us both. The original estimate was in July and they honored the same price five months later. This was the only electrical company I came across that repaired the dry wall they had to cut and the cost was very comparable to other estimates I receives without repair of the dry wall. Debbie proved the service and she is beyond professional and an overall nice person. Plastic was put down to protect the following and the work sites were swept clean afterward. I will only ever use them in the future.
Description of Work: Installed two electrical outlets; one was already wired, the other was not. Wired and installed an outdoor light.

From the start, Greg was very responsive and scheduled the work. I specifically wanted the electrician Deb, as she did some great work for a neighbor of mine (and she patches the ceiling/walls!!! YAY). The work took 2 visits to finish and Deb was prompt each time. She is very detail oriented and has an excellent eye for symmetry. This was really important, as there were no pre-existing pendants or recessed lights in the kitchen and placement was critical. I really can't say enough good things about the work that was done. Really perfect! On a funny note, Deb noticed that one of my light switch plate covers was crooked and HAD TO straighten it out. I had simply gotten used to the crookedness, but really appreciated getting it straight! I would definitely use TriStar again and I highly recommend Deb. When she was done, the house looked like they were never there!
Description of Work: Install pendants over kitchen island, recessed lights over counter area, ceiling fan/light in living room, and light fixture over kitchen table. Also replaced a few light switches with dimmers and new GCFI.

During the process of selling our home (from two states away) the buyers inspection showed several electrical system issues, the major problem being a faulty main electrical panel. We agreed to make repairs, and were under tight time constraints to do so prior to closing. Tristar Electric went above and beyond to ensure the work was completed correctly and in a timely manner. Greg DeGrafft obtained the necessary permits and worked with us, and our real estate agent, to ensure everything was properly scheduled (electrician, inspector, BGE) as this was a multi-step process. Everything went smoothly and we closed on the sale yesterday!

TriStar Electric does excellent work. We needed an electrical outlet relocated on a short notice as it was in the way of where our Wet Bar was to be installed, the same day, by another contractor. Greg was very helpful, he set to appointment for 7:30 a.m. in the morning. The Electrician, Debbie, was right on time and did a great job, relocating the outlet. Solution offered by Tri-Star was more in tune with possible future remodeling efforts. They offered to replace old electrical box with larger one and add a 2nd box in the basement to support new stove top and oven combo. I had additional power outlets installed in the new kitchen and a coax outlet moved. This work was also completed. Scheduled an additional service call to have outlets installed in open closet/shelves for roaster and toaster oven. Service call also included install of external light fixture. I was so excited about the additional light, that I forgot to purchase the actual light fixture. Once I purchase it, Tri-star agreed to install it for me. I'm pleased with the work - and will also request another service call to have power outlets installed within my new kitchen island and garage as well as recessed lighting installed within my living room. I'm glad I found Tri-Star on Angie's List - as I probably wouldn't of discovered them. I had bad experiences with other contractors in the past so this experience was a relief. I really like Tri-Star's company personality and their workmanship. Thanks for the good service Tri-Star.

Once I contacted Tri-Star, the owner Dave came to the house and conducted a thorough inspection and write up of all the work. Tri-Star sent me a quote within a couple of days and we were able to arrange for work to begin shortly thereafter. The work crews were courteous and professional. Not only did they do the required work but they adjusted or fixed a number of minor things as they went alone. I was very happy with the way they routed the wiring through the cellar to provide the external outlets with essentially no external runs of wiring. They changed the circuit panel changed in the house which was necessary to up the amperage and provide additional circuits for the external sockets they installed. The panel was professionally installed and breakers were all properly identified and marked. The external power run to the house from a BG&E pole was rerun to a better location and the electric meter was moved as well. The power run had to be replaced because of storm damage that had broken the wire connection point to the house. Finally, they replaced the very old external hanging wires that ran between the house and the garage, a distance of approximately 50 feet. The replacement wires were routed underground and they also replaced the old circuit panel in the garage. All and all, I was extremely pleased with Tri-Star. From the attention of the owner, to the crew manager in the office, to the courteous workmen at my house, everything was done to my complete satisfaction.
Description of Work: Changed out circuit breaker box in the house and in the garage. Added two outdoor sockets. Re-wired power coming into the house and moved the electric meter. Rerouted power to the garage through a buried cable, removing the unsightly overhead wires that used to run from the house to the garage.

They came out very quickly and did great work. They were very helpful.
Description of Work: We had a whole section of our home that was out of power. TriStar took a look at the electrical panel and took out a blown box and found some shoddy work done by a previous contractor that left a live wire hanging and they fixed the issue.

wo new ceiling fans were damaged by an apparent power surge. They diagnosed the problem, replaced both fans (I procured replacement fans at their suggestions before the service call). They were on time, neat and very professional; they repackaged the old fans into the new boxes so they could be returned to Lowes.It took two of hem two hours and it cost $390, all things considered I was very pleased with the service call.

Somehow they had lost our phone number, so without notification, they stopped by and serviced our generator. When we called the office, the story was that many clients do not need to be home so they just decided to do the service without notification or knowledge. We became aware that the service was done when we found the service document at our home. Their service is driven by their convenience within areas to accomplish services on time versus client presence for service conduct. This was an issue for us because we had other work being done this week at our residence and there could have been cross contractor issues. In addition, my expectation was to be present for the service if possible to learn more about the condition of my generator, perhaps do a fail over test and discuss possible additional work for rewiring for a better home backup configuration. I found the initial office response to our concerns to be less contrite than we expected. After a follow on discussion with two supervisors, Tri-Star has sincerely committed to better coordination in the future-I have upgraded their evaluation accordingly.
Description of Work: Provided second scheduled service of our back up generator under a 12 month contract.

From the moment Deb Nd Alex arrived I was put at ease by their friendly yet completely proffessional manner.They even were taking off their shoes by the front door, which was not necessary. The thoughtful jesturge was noted and appreciated. My concern with exterior decorative and safety lights was explained and they went to work examining and diagnosing my problems. They explained each step to me about what they saw and the remedy. They explained working with hot and non powered lines and told me not to be worried if I heard a pop or if a breaker flipped. Again, I was learning as they worked with ultimate skill. Deb fixed a mess another installer had made installing a back door light, using two back up measures to secure the lights tightly against the exterior masonry wall. She then put a sealant around the fixtures. Alex fixed my security light, installed new bulbs, and reset the settings. He then took my decorative fixture by the front door down and discovered its needs. He and Deb fixed the problem quickly and efficiently. Lights set next to brick and masonry come loose if not securely set. They knew just what to do. I got advice on installing more exterior lighting and plan on calling them again soon. I was so grateful and pleased with the knowledge and proficiency Deb and Alex demonstrated. Their kindness to me and to my elder doggie, Toby, was appreciated. They work well together and showed respect and trust in each other. I'd say they are a great team. I thought the price for their time and knowledge was quite appropriate. I was able to use a coupon from Angie's Magazine. Thanks to Deb for asking me if I had one. I did! I can not tell you how glad I called this company. The person answering the phone told me who was coming and in what kind of company vehicle without me inquiring. I really appreciate them anticipating a costumer's concerns. I was so pleased someone could come the next day. I appreciated not having to leave a message and wait for someone to call back. Overall, today's experience with Tristar Electric was exceptional. I will call them for all of my future electric work. I hope I will have Deb and Alex next time, as well. They are first rate.

Dave came out to do the initial estimate and was very helpful in suggesting what kinds of fixtures might look good in my space, as well as mapping out the number/locations of the recessed lights and suggesting bulb options.. Based on a review of other similar projects, I went with this company based on Dave's expertise and the company's reviews, even though I thought the price was on the high side. The electrician and assistant arrived on time but seemed to not be aware of the scope of my project. Once I explained the work scope and showed her the location of the new fans/fixtures, she made some suggestions and asked appropriate questions about the recessed lighting before proceeding. Not long after starting the work, she mentioned that she had another job later the same afternoon in another county. Dave estimated that the work would take at least 4 hours, maybe a bit more. At one point well into the project, around 1pm, another company worker arrived and began to work on installing the stairwell fixture and the lighting kit on one of the ceiling fans. I was on the second floor working when I heard a crash on the third floor. When I went to check, the glass globe from the lighting kit had fallen from the fan and was lying in pieces on the floor. The assistant apologized, saying he thought the electrician had secured the globe completely. The electrician also apologized and agreed to deduct the value of the kit from the invoice. No problem, accidents happen. However, things went downhill from there. Once the fan installations were complete, I noticed that both were wobbling noticeably, on low and high speeds. I pointed this out to the electrician as something I was not satisfied with, especially given the quality of the fan I had purchased. She initially insisted that the wobble was minimal and that even if she used the balancing tool included with the fans, it would not make a difference. She suggested that the fan may be defective. I called the fan company while she was here and made an appointment to have them come out, at no expense to me, to check for a defect. Long story short, the fan company technician came out today and balanced both fans and completely eliminated the wobbles in 20 minutes. That confirmed for me that the Tri-Star electrician either didn't know how to use the tool provided to balance the fan, or did know but chose not to bother doing it. I shouldn't have had to take more time from work to have the fan company come out to do work that I paid Tri-Star to do. Then, when i was reviewing the invoice to make payment, I noticed that my initial quote included dimmer switches for the recessed lighting, but dimmers had not been installed on either switch. When I pointed this out, she proceeded to install the kitchen dimmer and assigned the living room dimmer to one of her assistants. Shortly after removing the wall plate in the living room, the assistant apparently crossed some wires and the power surged/flickered briefly in the living room. Kind of scary. The electrician was clearly annoyed and quickly took over and completed both dimmer installations herself. I do think this is a good company, but I also think I deserved to receive the best customer service possible. I don't know if this outcome was the electrician's fault, or poor project management on the part of Tri-Star, but I didn't get what I paid for, and for that reason, I would not use them again or recommend them to others. I think my overall "C" rating is deserved and may even be a bit generous.
Description of Work: Installed recessed lighting in kitchen and living room areas. Removed a fluorescent light fixture in kitchen. Replaced two ceiling fans, a foyer fixture and a stairwell fixture.

The electrical upload lasted several months due to PEPCO backlog. Dave and Greg made sure I was informed at very step of this project. TriStar even guided PEPCO in the proper site of the new power pole on my property . The installers returned at sundown to reassess the effect of exterior lights.

Contacted TriStar through Angie's list and quickly received a message back from Greg with a number to call and discuss the project. Since ceiling fans are relatively straight-forward, he was able to give an estimate over the phone. After having received previous estimates, the cost was very reasonable and I agreed to schedule the work with TriStar on the spot. I additionally asked if the tech performing the ceiling fan install could discuss the electrical work for a future patio and hot tub installation project and Greg easily agreed to send a Debbie (who I had already read had several positive comments on Angie's List) that could also give an estimate for this work. The time between scheduling and the date for the work was only about a week - a very reasonable time. Debbie and Jordan arrived on time for the project and immediately went to work installing the ceiling fans. Both were very friendly and extremely professional. The fan installations went smoothly and the work is fantastic! I wish I had called TriStar earlier in the summer for these fans! Debbie is very knowledgeable and gave some good advice about our future hot tub installation. She also was able to give an estimated cost before departing - always a positive thing rather than waiting days for an estimate. Overall, a very positive and smooth experience. Thanks to Debbie and Jordan.

Two-man crew was punctual and courteous. They installed a ceiling fan in our two-story family room in about an hour. They covered their shoes when they entered and cleaned up everything before they left.
