They did an excellent job. They arrived almost two hours late and I didn't get a call until an hour after the scheduled time. There is marble around the grout area and he was very careful in not causing any problems with the marble. The shower area looks like a new shower.
Description of Work: They spot cleaned two areas of carpet, stairs, hallway, and one room. They also did some grout cleaning and polishing in our shower.

I opted into the Angie's Big Deal and paid for the services on 10/14. Within one day of being notified that the deal was on, I was given an appointment at noon on 11/19. I thought this was a seriously long wait but assumed they had gotten overwhelmed by response to Angie's List and accepted the date. I expected things would go smoothly since this was an Angie's Big Deal and assumed the vendor had been previously vetted or Angie's List wouldn't promote them. On 11/19, I stayed home from work and waited. At 12:40 (appointment was set for noon), I called VIP Steamers. I was told my appointment wasn't until 1 pm. Since I hadn't gotten an email confirmation nor a reminder call, I assumed it was possible I made a mistake in my calendar (though I doubted that later after dealing with them more). I was told they'd be here 1 - 1.5 hours late (2:00-2:30 arrival time). On asking more questions I found out the services would take 1.5 hours and I'd have to stay off the carpet and sofas for 3 or more hours. This was an issue as I had out of town guests arriving for the holidays but would have been fine if they showed up at the original appointment time. During this call I also found out that they didn't have my request to add cleaning a loveseat in the record, nor the quote ($46) but they agreed to do the work and the price was confirmed. When I asked if they would call me if there were any further change, they agreed but were reluctant to verify my phone number. I insisted and I found out that they had the wrong phone number on my appointment. Basically, no part of my appointment record was correct. Julian, the man doing the work, called me a few times telling me he was still on another job in another town and would be later and later and finally arrived just after 4 pm (over 4 hours late). When he arrived, Julian told me the loveseat quote was wrong and would be $65 now and that the office had made a mistake. I was pretty amazed at how bad the office had been at this point and told him the story so he agreed to the original quote of $46. The work was completed in 1.5 hours and Julian left in as big a rush as he arrived. As he was leaving, he told me he had also cleaned a small rug (32 x 46 inches) by the front door to make up for all the issues. Unfortunately, I had just gotten that rug back from the cleaners and it didn't need cleaning so it wasn't much of a bonus! I have never had my sofas cleaned without Scotch-guard but this service was never offered (I would have paid extra). Other than all the headaches, the real problem is that once one of the sofas dried, there are now permanent marks in the fabric where the cleaning wand was used horizontally across the back of the sofa. It is an eyesore and probably ruined the fabric. In compared to other cleaning services I've used, VIP Steamers was the worst ever and I do not recommend them. They ruined my sofa and I will be reluctant to use a Big Deal again.

This was HORRIBLE. I scheduled the date over a month ago, window for arrival was 12-1. I confirmed the appt. At 1:00, no show, no call. I call, and am told they'll check. Call back, ETA is 2:30. Still no show. Call again, and get voice mail. Hear from the technician, that he "had other things to do" and would be there in an hour (this was 3:20). Shows up at 4:55. Can't do the work because there were problems with my outside water source, it would take more than the time I could be home (had to leave for something at 6:30). Technician said that he never got the schedule. And I moved breakables around out of the way, etc. and my LR/DR are still in upheaval and I have no clean carpets to show for it. I'm getting a refund for this, and finding another (more reliable) company. I don't even know if this vendor even does good work, because there wasn't enough time to find out!!

I'm unsure whether to be more disappointed with VIP or with Angie's List for promoting a sub par company via the targeted email coupon. We decided to go with the hired hand for cleaning our carpet versus doing it ourselves due to what seemed to be a good deal. Wrong. Scheduling was not difficult and we were able to get a appointment scheduled first thing on Saturday morning (9:00 am). On Saturday at around 9:15 after the crew had still not arrived I phoned VIP HQ. The woman stated that she'd check to see where he was and get back to me. At 9:45 she still had not returned my call so I phoned again. She stated that the driver's van was broken down but that it shouldn't be long. I asked her if she could have the driver call me to provide an update; she stated that she would and that the driver already had my number. I called again at 11:00 when the van had still not arrived. I asked to speak to a manager or supervisor. The woman stated that she was the only one in the store since it was Saturday. She stated that the driver was nearly done and should be on the way soon. She would follow up with him and get back to me. She did phone me at roughly 11:30 to let me know he was in DC and would be at our house soon. The van arrived at approximately 12:00 pm. The gentleman was kind, courteous, and professional under the circumstance but was also severely behind schedule. He was finished within 45 minutes, including set-up and removal. We will likely need to finish the job ourselves through a store rental as some of what are considerably minor stains were not sufficiently removed. All in all even with the significant discount it was a sufficient waste of money. We're only grateful that we didn't have to spend full price. I'm not sure whether Angie's List vets the companies that send out promotional coupons under it's banner (assume they do) but quite honestly, I don't care. I didn't research/review the company due to what I deemed to be an extra plug by Angie's List. "One-offs" occur and this may be one of them but being the lucky one has not been a particularly gratifying experience. Thanks VIP Steemer and Angie's List.

I was very pleased. All but one pet spot was completely removed and the remaining one in the master bedroom is much better than it was. (There was an additional $39.95 charge for spot removal.) Julian called and said he was running late and he arrived about when he said he would be there. (An hour later than scheduled.) He did an excellent job and we are very pleased. Very professional. They came back and did the sofa separately. For the sofa they charged me an additional $40.00 for "gas." I will use them again when the price is right.
Description of Work: I bought the $130 special deal from Angie's List. -- 4 rooms and a sofa. They did my living room, dining room, master bedroom, and the stairway and hall. There were a number of spots on the carpet from our dog. I also had a sofa to be done but Julian and I had a mis-understanding about that and it was not done when the carpets were cleaned. They came back later and did that.

I signed up for the big deal (4 rooms for $130). After making the appointment (describing this is a condo in a large building), I followed up with an email giving exact dimensions of the 2 small bedrooms, the living room, a small hallway and the staircase to make sure this falls within the concept of the deal. Never received a response to my email. I called on the morning of the appointment to make sure we're on for 2pm again pointing out this is a condo building, parking is challenging. At this time I am informed that a 'portable unit' is necessary for my job, they don't have it on the truck. (Nothing about an extra charge.) We reschedule for 2 days later. On the day of the rescheduled service, I call in the morning, we're on for 3pm. The office calls at 3pm he's on his way. He calls shortly before 4pm asking for location, which I had given in detail several days before and in my email. When I meet him downstairs, he mentions a 'portable charge' for the first time. Not the amount! The job needs to be done due to time constraints. They knew all the details and I already paid through Angie's list. I don't agree to the surcharge. He hears about the stairs (as if for the first time) and starts talking about yet another surcharge. I explain that the exact size and details were known before, and I help him park and pay for the parking! After looking at the size of the apartment he says its within the 4 room limit. He zooms through the place within 45 minutes. I ask whether he had done both bedrooms and he agrees. I check the job and am less than impressed. The stairs do not look clean at all. And I ask whether he could do a better job on it. He says: No. I help him get the equipment downstairs and even wait to watch the equipment while he gets his truck. I say a courteous goodbye - he says he want to give me the paperwork. I wait. He hands me the write up and asks me how I would like to pay the $39.90 surcharge for the portable unit. I say: Not at all! VIP Steemer knew from day one of my order that this unit was in a condo building, not a SFH. The appropriate time to mention a portable unit fee would have been on the website when I decided whether to use them. Or when I first called to make the appointment. Or when we rescheduled, because they did not have a portable unit on the day of my first appointment. Not when he was standing at my condo building after I had changed my schedule twice to accommodate their lack of communication between office and service personnel and had already paid $130. If Julian had done and outstanding job and the carpet and stairs would have looked really clean, maybe I would have been agreeable to an extra charge... But I felt taken for a ride! The big deal's intend was to get the foot in the door. The next day I was able to look at the 2nd bedroom in full daylight and I doubt that he had the machine in there. Maybe it was just a bad day for him and for me, but I certainly would not hire VIP Steemers again or recommend them.
Description of Work: Big deal customer beware! $130 only gets the foot in the door. You WILL be asked to pay more! In my case service was to clean carpet in a 2BR condo plus hallway and stairs. Bottomline: I wish I had rented the steam cleaner from the hardware store. It would have been cleaner and I wouldn't have had the hustle.

The service was very well done, the carpet was well cleaned including removing a couple of troublesome stains. Other companies would probably have insisted on calling my tiny hallway one of the 4 areas but this gentleman just went ahead and took care of it without adding to the price. The work was done quickly with minimal disruption, although as is always the case the carpet was wet for awhile. I gave the price a B only because this price was consistent with offers you often see advertised by other vendors (although in my experience you always end up paying more), but I consider it a fair price. The vendor also demonstrated a process to clean the tile floor in my dining room/kitchen area. Until he did that I really didn't realize that the floor needed it, but clearly it does! It's a little pricey, but I don't see myself on my knees scrubbing tile anytime soon, so I may go ahead and get that done as well.

I purchased the cleaning through Angie's List special. When Julian arrived the first time, he realized that I had Limestone tile, and needed to return at another time. Due to other work commitments, they were delayed, but once they arived, they got right down to work They cleaned up any mess, and left the kitchen spotless. The floor look great!!

This was an Angie's List Big Deal that offered 300 sq. ft. of tile/grout cleaning. I did not notice that the Big Deal ($180.00) was for 300 sq. ft. in just one area. My kitchen, front entry, and 2 bathrooms were less than 300 sq. ft. total, however there was an additional $59.99 charge to have the tile/grout cleaned in all 4 areas. Julian agreed that information in the Big Deal about just one area may not have been completely clear, so he reduced the additional charge to $39.99. The work performed in the kitchen and front entry was good however he stated that ceramic tile in the bathrooms involved staining from the original installation that could not be removed. I am the original owner of the condo and was skeptical about his assessment given that areas covered by rugs had no such stain. A couple of days later I scrubbed around one of the problem bathroom tiles and succeeded in removing the 'stain'. Vip-Steemer work took less than an hour, and there was no difference in ceramic tile appearance. This is a project I would not repeat in the future.

They came out and the person said he could not clean my apartment because he did not have portable equipment. I scheduled an appointment for this morning and the person never showed up. The owner of the company called me later and said that the appointment slipped through and that there was going to be an additional charge since I lived in an apartment. This was not clearly stated in the deal that I purchased.

This was the worst contractor experience we have ever had, and the worst contractor from Angie's List. Before the appointment I tried to find out information about the cleaning process and how the cabinets would be protected. A call back was promised but never came. I had to chase down the information. VIP Steemer receptionists provided conflicting information in each of 2 phone discussions with them. We were told, for sure, that Julian brings supplies to protect our cabinets and appliances. The contractor didn't show up for the appointment and didn't call. We called Angie's List and were given Julian's cell #. He apologized and said he didn't have the portable equipment because he was unaware that we live in a high rise (but I had told the receptionist that we lived in a high rise.). Also, he said he didn't have our phone number to let us know he wasn't coming. He promised to call back that day, but he didn't. I then called him and made a second appointment. When he arrived for that appointment, he said the portable machine would cost $60 extra, but he would give us a $20 discount. I said that we should have been told in advance that a portable machine would add to the price, especially since I had disclosed that we were in high rise. The machine kept blowing the circuit breakers and wouldn't work. 5. The machine "broke"completely when a rag got sucked into the machine and it no longer worked at all. He couldn't finish the job properly and had to do it manually. Julian had no tools or rags. My husband and I were running around getting him tools, towels, rags, etc. As he was leaving we noticed the carpet was soaked. Somehow the machine had leaked all over our expensive Karastan carpet. My husband and I were on the floor trying to get water out of the rug. He insisted we pay the extra $40 for the portable even though he ruined our $1000 rug. He said it was only water and would dry. He said he was bonded and insured and that we should call if there was a problem after the rug dried. As for the cleaning and sealing of the the grout, the grout was cleaned in the bathrooms, but was not completely cleaned in the kitchen and dining room once the machine completely broke down. I didn't know if the grout was sealed because of the nightmare experience we had in dealing with this contractor. We wanted him out of our house and did not ask any more questions of him. Now we see that water seeps into the grout, but doesn't bead up. Last, when he left we discovered that the rug pad, too, was soaked. This should not have happened. Angie's List is supposed to "protect" members from experiences like this -- not offer them as Big Deals. The charge for this service appeared as Angie's List on our credit card, not VIP Steemer, so Angie's List bears some responsibility for this horrendous experience. The contractor was apologetic and kept saying he was "only human," a totally unacceptable response to a customer who has paid in advance for good service in good faith and has received poor service from the get go. One more thing, the contractor brought nothing to protect our kitchen baseboards or cabinets or appliances. Not only did we provide the plastic and masking tape, but we also got down on the floor and did the work!
Description of Work: This was an Angie's List Big Deal. So we paid in advance for the promised service: grout cleaning and sealing up to 300 sq. feet. The technician (owner?) Julian cleaned the grout on the floors in the kitchen, dining area and 3 bathrooms. If the grout was sealed, it wasn't sealed well.

The service person was on time, pleasant, worked very hard for 65 minutes, the carpets which were heavily stained came out looking great! I was very pleased, especially for the price. (The couch which was burlap came out okay--you can't make a very old and cheap couch look perfect.).

I booked this company through one of the "Big Deal" promotions for tile- and grout-cleaning. I made my appointment about three weeks in advance, and planned to stay home on a weekday morning in order to get this done. I gave them all the details they asked for and scheduled an 8:30-9:30 arrival time slot. On the day of my appointment, they called around 9:00 to give me an update on time and asked me where they could park and hook up their equipment. From what I understand, they usually run a hose (for the vacuum) from the car to the house. I said that I lived in an apartment building so they could not park in front and run a hose through the lobby of the building. At the time of the booking I had indicated that I lived in an apartment and not in a house. Apparently they did not have the right machine available for use in an apartment so they ended up not coming at all. A woman from the company called me late in the afternoon to re-schedule. She was not very apologetic about their mistake/misunderstanding, and I struggled to get them to make time for me the next day. In the end, we scheduled an appointment for 8:00 am the next morning. Unbelievably, the next morning they did not show up AT ALL. On top of that, nobody even called to let me know. When I called them, no one picked up. Finally, around 12:30 pm, the technician called me to say that he could be at my apartment between 5:30-6:30 pm. He seemed to believe that I was available at their beck and call. He did not try to explain why he didn't show up at the scheduled time or why he didn't bother to let me know he wasn't coming. It took about 35-40 minutes for him to manually clean/re-seal the tiles in my bathroom and re-caulk some additional areas. All in all, I am relatively happy with the results, but I do not feel that it was worth the time and money that I spent. I am especially disappointed with their lack of respect and professionalism. I would try another provider next time.

They said they would come between one and two pm and did not get to our house till 2:30 pm. They looked at the work that had to be performed and told me they would have to charge me more than I had paid for. I had paid for "the deal" offered through Angie's list that covered four areas. They claimed that since I wanted the stairs done they would have to charge me for four more areas. I have a small house and there are only 14 steps on one stairway and ten on the other. They claimed that had to count as four areas and added $195 to the cost of the job. They also said we were paying for "stain repellent treatment". This brought the cost of the job to $ 325.00. We did not mind paying because having read the reviews on Angie's List we thought we were getting quality service. We were not happy with the final outcome. The only stain they took out was a rust stain and they charged an additional $ 15 for that. Other than that the carpet looks the same as it did prior to them cleaning it. In addition the carpet took three days to dry. We had great weather and kept the windows open and did not walk on the carpets for three days. I consider the entire project a complete waste of our time. It was a lot of work clearing the floor area in anticipation of the cleaning. I also did not appreciate having to pay a total of $325 to have the carpets look exactly the same as they did before. Our carpets were relatively clean. We do not have pets or smaland we always take our shoes off when we enter the house. We had a few spots on the stairs and just wanted to refresh the carpets. This did not happen. I asked them if they could remove the dark areas where the carpet meets the wall and dust collects and they told me they could not do that. In retrospect I wish I had just rented a carpet cleaner from our local grocery store and done the job myself. I could have saved a lot of money.
Description of Work: I hired them to clean the carpets in four bedrooms, a hallway and two sets of stairs. We got everything off the floor and vacuumed the entire area thoroughly prior to their arrival.

I called Vip- Julian and asked if it was possible to come today. I called early in the morning and was hoping he could squeese me in since I was not at work today. He said he would be able to come after his last job around 7ish. He promptly called me around that time and I text him my address. He came and did the job as spotless as always. I have been using VIP Steemer for 3 years now and they never fail me. I don't mind paying the price they ask because they do a thorough job, they are professionals and that is what I like. My carpet not only looks new and clean but smells fresh! Julian is the best!
Description of Work: I had them come and steam clean my master bedroom which was soiled by pet stains and the main stair way. I have white carpet throughout the house, so it was not an easy job.

The whole process was smooth and easy. I called the office, got a reasonable estimate and set up a time and date. The whole process took less than15 minutes, including the answers to my questions about what was covered. The person with the truck came to my house right on time and was very professional from start to finish.
Description of Work: We recently bought a house with snow white carpeting that either needed to be replaced or carefully cleaned. VIP did a great job, especially on the stairs.

They were professional, they were quick, neat and clean. They were proactive and sprayed to make sure that mold wouldn't grow. They also used an eco-friendly product.

Their price was resonable compared with other companies contacted. They were flexible with their scheduling and were able to clean the carpets the day before I moved into the house. The day of the appointment they were 1 and 1/2 hours late. They did call when they were in route but still I had to wait a long time for them. They did do a very good job with the carpets and they looked like new.
Description of Work: VIP Steemer cleaned the carpet and applied scotch guard.

There was a scheduling glitch (I had written 9-10am on my calendar when I made the appt, but Julian had us down for 4-5pm). It was okay with my schedule, so he called between 4-5 because he was stuck in traffic, but got here around 5:30. He did the job -- tiles look good! The grout (which should have been sealed by the installer) was sealed. I know that by hand this would have taken me a full day at least, so it was a great luxury to have VIP come out and do the work. We'll probably have them back every year.
Description of Work: This was a "Big Deal" special from Angies List, so price won't always be this good. They cleaned and sealed grout on almost 300sf of porcelain tile in our kitchen and mudroom.

Called for an appointment - mentioned I had seen their good rating on Angie's list. Julian took info on what needed to be cleaned. He also took my name, address and phone # . When he asked me how soon I wanted carpets cleaned, I asked him how soon they had an opening. He said to let him check the schedule and he would get back with me later that afternoon. It is now 3 days later and he still hasn't called back. Even if he did call back now, I don't want this company cleaning my carpets. This is a lousy way to run a business.

Julian did a great job on schedule and cleaned up well. It looks great!
Description of Work: On 9/9/2010, cleaned floor and bathtub wall tiles for $180 as specified in Angie's List email offer. Recaulked bathtub on top and bottom for $100. Advised me that bathtub wall tile needed regrouting for $500. I agreed. On 9/10,2010, removed old grout and applied new. On 9/11,2010, applied finish to grout and tiles.

he was prompt-i had told him by phone how many carpeted steps to clean, plus 2 rooms. he said $365. After he got here, i added a big hallway-and another bedroom. The price went up to $900 which included the stain prevention ingredient. I asked if the steam could hurt the wood under the stair carpet. He said no that it barely got wet and would surely not stay wet for more than a very short time, so it couldnt hurt the wooden steps. That was on a friday. I went out of town..The steps down to the club room were still wet sunday night.Also..he asked if he could drive his truck on the lawn next to the gate. I said no problem. Apparently the truck was very heavy and it sunk down into the grass leaving deep indentations..He said he would come back and fill them in and put grass seed on them. He called one day to do that about 5 days later..but he kept calling and changing the time that day..so i spent all day waiting until i finally had to call him in the late afternoon and tell him to make it another day. he said fine and i havent heard from him since..6 weeks ago. Also when i wrote the $900 check i mentioned that i thought i remembered a 10% discount if i got his name from Angie's list. He said no..that he had already given me a good price..($900 ). i was hoping he would have gotten in touch by now and fixed the lawn..plus i had told him he needed to re-do the wet steps because we had no other way to get from floor to floor and since they were still wet, they caught the dirt from our going up and down ( there are only 2 of us living here). He was agreeable to doing that...but he hasnt called to set up a time.
Description of Work: Carpets cleaned..stain prevention added to the steam mixture.

First of all I thank you for doing business with VIP-STEEMER. I do appriciate. You we right about the van/truck sinking into the grass, the ground was damp and the van too heavy, we took responsiblity for the dent on your grass and voluntarily offered to fix it, Many times I called to set appointment up with you, and left you a couple of messages, you were out of town. Your basement carpet has dis-coloration, and I adviced you that we can only give it out best, I turned up the heat on the mechine so high in other to get the stains out,"it was a deep deep steam clean".. also your steps were double steps in length and its a total of 61 steps, when we got there we realized that it was triple the estimate in size and your hall way was almost 400 square feet.
