TAKOMA TREE EXPERTS

Called back right away but it took a few days to the evaluation and then a few more to get work scheduled. I was a bit concerned because the tree I originally called about was laying across my neighbor's back yard. (Nothing urgent but inconvenient to my neighbor.) Bill, the owner, was very courteous and instilled confidence that he would evaluate the yard. Once they came, the guys even noted another tree that looked bad after they had cleared the fallen tree. They revised estimate and asked what I wanted to be done and came back to care of that. (I was impressed they acknowledged the change in plan, checked, and came back to take care of it.) The cost seemed very reasonable for the number and height of the trees they either took down or trimmed. I am grateful to my neighbor (the one in whose yard the tree fell) for recommending Takoma Tree Experts!

Takoma Tree Experts took the tree down quickly with no damage to any electrical wires nearby, all the properties and all the fences beside the tree. The neighbors were happy. They cleaned up all the sawdust.

The pine tree in front of my house had been planted too close to the house (probably over 30 years ago) and no longer had room to grow. The tree had become taller than my house and its branches were lying on my roof and in my front gutter. I called Takoma Tree Experts and two other companies for quotes to have the tree cut down and all debris removed. Takoma Tree Experts offered the most competitive price. The company came on the date established and within the stated timeframe. The tree experts quickly and neatly cut down the tree and removed all debris without causing damage to my flower bed borders. I am very pleased with the work.

Takoma Tree was extremely responsive; Bill Marvil was very good at keeping in touch and he coordinated the work between me and an adjacent neighbor who wanted two trees taken completely out and was granting permission for Takoma's bucket truck to use their driveway to get to MY tree. Illness among one of their crew and rain disrupted our first two planned dates, but Takoma Tree pounced on the very next dry day and came out at 8:00am to get started. Upon further examination of my tree, the crew supervisor advised that the vine encroachment was very bad; the tree would eventually be strangled. He recommended that I add vine removal to the contract, but there wasn't any and quot;hard selland quot;. I ended up approving the additional work at a cost of $325. I had to leave for work just as they were getting into the take-downs of the neighbor's trees; I was worried that I'd come home to a and quot;scalpedand quot; tree. However, when I saw the completed work, I was extremely pleased. There was no damage to my fence and they left the area very clean. I'm very glad I took the recommendation to have them remove all the strangler vines; the tree looks 1,000% better and will hopefully live longer, too. In hindsight, I should have thought to turn off and cover my recirculating fountain - an accumulation of sawdust in the pump is causing some problems. But my tree looks great; still has natural shaping but the and quot;scaryand quot; branches are gone. My neighbors seem pleased too; Takoma ground their two stumps completely down. My neighbor thinks the crew worked 9-10 hours straight.

We had an exceptionally large tulip poplar in our back yard that in essence was like three trees: a large main trunk with two additional leads that curved out and up. We had managed to secure a hazardous tree permit (with help from another arborist), and contacted Takoma Tree Experts regarding removal. The estimated cost was significantly lower than those of other companies (helped by the fact that it wasn't the middle of storm season, but winter). The work crew showed up at the time specified (on the dot) and the work was finished within three or four days. Takoma Tree respected our desire to limit the disruption to our neighbors and did not use cranes, but rather brough in a sufficiently large crew to bring the tree down piece by piece. Takoma Tree also pruned the other large tree in the back yard. Clean-up was handled well and I think they even cleaned up the alleyway behind the house. The head of Takoma Tree experts was consistently professional and courteous in his dealings with us, and also responded quickly to email and calls.

It went great. They had to come a day later, because the weather. Other than that they were there when they said they would be and got the job done. I would use them again in a heartbeat.

They did a nice job and did what I asked of them.

We had a very large pine tree from our neighbor's property that had branches resting on the power line on our property and another tree located in our neighbor's yard but growing downward into our yard and phone line because it was being choked by a vine. Takoma Tree Experts provided a competitive estimate and the work was done quickly and professionally to address these problems. All the debris was cleaned up thoroughly and hauled away and they made sure to check on exactly how much we wanted to cut back the tree growing onto our property from our neighbor's yard. It looks great now and I would highly recommend them to anyone in need of extensive tree pruning.

I was very, very pleased with the work overall from start to finish. A great group of professionals. I have used Takoma Tree Experts in the past to do work and I knew from experience that they would do a fantastic job and they did. I have nothing but praise for William H. Marvil (owner) and his crew.

This is to comment on the two times that I used this firm for tree work. The first time was in 2009 and I had a and quot;majorand quot; trimming of a large tree in my backyard. I had concerns about both dead/weak limbs as well as limbs that were hanging in/through phone lines. They did a great job trimming it. At first I was a little taken aback at how it looked (like a tall stalk of broccoli) but I'm convinced that the work that they did saved the tree during the major snow and rain/wind storms that hit this area soon after. I then called them to remove a fairly large tree that presented a potential hazard in my front yard. They helped me with the permit process--which was new to me, as there are specific restrictions re. tree removal in DC. And, due to rule changes, it was going to be fairly inconvenient and expensive for me to even get parking permits for their work trucks. While I tried to figure out when I could afford to spend an afternoon trying to figure out DC government rules, they contacted me to let me know that they would be in the general area and would stop by to and quot;take a look.and quot; Well, they did better than that, they were able to actually finish the job! I came home to find that the tree had been taken care of and there were just a few leaves around--practically no sign that the work had been done! They were great about communicating and then the work was done early and cleanly. I've been meaning to put this recommendation up for a while because of my good experience and I would not hesitate to call them again.

We live in MoCo and have large old maples that drop limbs and hand over our hourse and our neighbor's houses and cars. During the first visitn in 2000, Takoma pruned all of the trees and remcommended wiring one of the trees that could possibly split. The work was done promptly and professionally, clean-up was excellent. In 2002 we had them return to remove a tree and reshape a tree that was deformed due to crowding. Again, they did a great job and clean-up was impeccable. In 2007, prior to a home renovation, we callend them back to remove the to holly trees. Our contractor could have gotten a better price for us, but we really trust Takoma and we know the work would be done correctly without creating a nuisance for our neighbors. It was and we are about to call them again.

Everything went well. They are certified arborists, and their work is excellent.

If you're willing to wait until they can fit you in, these guys are great. I got three estimates for the work and Takoma Tree was much cheaper than the others. I had used them before, so I knew their work was good. They're very busy, though, and for good reason. I worked with them while they were trimming the large trees in the back, so it would be just right. Very cooperative, very responsive. Although I had to wait a couple of weeks, they came right on time on the day scheduled. Great overall.

The company was very professional and did great work. They even knocked on our neighbor's door to tell them they'd be doing the work, since one of the trees was theirs. The responsiveness was not superb, but maybe we caught them at a busy time. They lost our initial contract, and then it took about 3 weeks after they found it to do the work, only after I e-mailed them to remind them of it. But then they came right away and did it. The price was good for the limp removal, but for the deadwood removal, it seemed excessive -- $300 for what looked like me to remove low-hanging limbs I could do myself. The stump removal quote was reasonable -- we just aren't sure we want to do it yet. I would recommend them highly for their work, but you might have to wait a little while before they come to do the work and push them a little to get it done.

I had 7 tree removal experts give estimates. Takoma was not the cheapest initially, but after I told him the competition's prices they came down on their price. They came and removed the trees and ground the stumps on the dates they proposed. Minimum damage to the yard and these were big trees. A window on the house was shattered by a flying rock from the stump grinder. Takoma paid for replacement, inconvenient, but they took responsibility. Overall, great experience.

Overall went very well. Because of the emergency nature of the service I do not know what other services would have charged, but fact that this was the only service that returned my call in a timely manner suggests they made extra effort. Had received estimate from them earlier on another job and this price seemed in line.

I highly recommend Takoma Tree experts. They provided a free estimate, arrived as scheduled for the estimate and removal, and did a thorough job. They gave the best price of the three companies I contacted.

They made good cuts, I know this because I am a master gardener. We did get multiple estimates, and they were the lowest.

They were just an okay company as nothing really stood out. They showed up on time. I did not choose them based on price as they were in the middle.

Although getting the company to respond to phone messages is not always easy, once the connection was made, the work was performed quickly and professionally, and at a very reasonable price.

Takoma Tree Experts did a good job trimming, elevating, and removing trees. However, I was disappointed that they left the job without acknowledging (1) that they had broken a paving stone, (2) that they had left large gouges in the lawn (presumably from falling branches). Also, a short time after they left, I discovered that (3) the window beneath a tree they trimmed had a punctured screen, and that paint on the trim of the window had been knocked loose. Finally, 3 days after the work was finished, our (4)furnace shut down because broken shards of the clay liner from the chimney (which is beneath one of the trees they trimmed) had fallen through the liner. While I cannot be certain that Takoma Tree Works is responsible for items (3) and (4), combined with items (1) and (2) above, in my subjective opinion they did not take adequate care in protecting my property. They have, however, been responsive in responding to problems (1) and (2), but not (3). I have not raised (4) with them.

Takoma Tree Experts was one of several tree services I contacted. They provided the most thorough estimate at the most reasonable price. After I decided to accept their proposal, I had a little difficulty getting information on how to actually accept it as it is not clear on the form. After several calls and e-mails, I was finally told to sign and fax it to them. The back of the contract does say it can take them 2-4 weeks, but after faxing in the acceptance, they called me to say they would probably get to the job in about two weeks. In reality, they just made it under the 4-week wire. When they finished, I had to play the telephone game to find out how to pay them since they did not leave an invoice. Turns out they mail you one and then you mail in payment. Overall, they did a very good job. All the deadwood is gone, the crowns are clean and they cleaned up the yard. I would use them again.

Takoma Tree Experts did an excellent job. They performed the work while we were away and left the tree beautifully shaped. They removed all debris. When I called, I was told that they would get to the job within 15 business days - they came on the 11th business day.

THEY DID A VERY GOOD JOB, THE JOB TURNED OUT TO BE MUCH LARGER THAN WAS EXPECTED. THEY HANDLED THE PROBLEM LIKE PROFESSIONALS AND THEY DID A GREAT JOB GETTING IT DONE. THEY CLEANED UP EVERYTHING AND REMOVED IT AFTER THEY WERE FINISHED. AN EXCELLENT JOB.

I THINK THEY WERE SO GREAT. THIS COMPANY REALLY GOT THE JOB DONE IN A TIMELY MANNER. THEY DIDN'T EVEN LEAVE A MESS. I'M VERY PLEASED WITH THE LOOK OF MY TREES, THEY DON'T LOOK BUTCHERED.
