They have been excellent. I have been using them for many years and just used them again a week ago. I would highly recommend them to anyone and I will continue to use them.

Samuel C. Boyd came highly recommended by a neighbor who recently hired them. When Dan came out for the initial consultation, he was pleasant and answered all my questions and didn’t make me feel rushed. On installation day, the crew worked very **** ** a hot, humid day. When it was discovered rot had affected some of the rafters, I took a picture of the damage, emailed it to the office followed by a phone call requesting they get the photo to Dan ASAP. Dan was back on site in about 40 minutes to assess the situation and give direction to the crew on a course of action to properly repair the damage to my satisfaction. The roof looks great.

We originally hired Boyd to replace our part asphalt shingle, and part membrane roof. They did a great job, left the yard clean, and were very responsive to us. Later we did some remodeling and installed a new furnace, and we asked them to come out to be sure that the skylights and vent pipes were properly installed in the new roof. They were very responsive and quick to come when we needed them, and did the work quickly and efficiently.

Great work and fantastic people! We bought our row house last summer in DC. From the inspection, we knew it needed replacement slate shingles for broken/missing ones, new sealant on the top ridges, as well as a chimney cap put on. Did my research and Boyd came highly recommended. Reached out and called them, and Chris was able to schedule a visit for the following week. Dan came out, got up on the roof in multiple spots to check everything over - and even found one other problem spot. He was on time for the scheduled estimate, polite, very knowledgeable, and gave me quotes on two other optional things I was also considering. Sent over the detailed quote by email PDF the next day and answered all follow-up questions I had. They scheduled us in pretty quickly for the work, and despite that massive windstorm - kept to their appointment in the aftermath and didn't bump us for other repairs. The team was excellent with communication, worked fast, cleaned up VERY WELL afterwards, and genuinely friendly. Highly recommend Boyd for your roofing needs! We're very happy with the work, the company, and the experience!

Dan Rank was very professional, courteous, and knowledgeable. Didn't end up with Boyd only because the seller of the house was responsible for fixing and they selected someone else. Otherwise, I would have given them the job.

We had delayed this project over a year (we first noticed a leak from the roof in October 2013), but as soon as we decided to simply replace the existing roof, Dan and Angie were right there to help. The crew was very fast; even though there was extensive rotting wood, the job only took an extra day or so longer than expected. The additional charge for wood was very reasonable, and the roof looks great. The crew also cleaned up so well that we wouldn't have known they were there except for the beautiful new roof.

I was very please with work done to the gutter and the customer service is excellent.

They gave me two estimates, one using copper and the second, $1,000.00 less, using stainless steel. They replaced the completely deteriorated metal sheeting with stainless steel, all of the flashing in this section of the roof, shingles as needed, and the chimney flashing. They recaulked the chimney. They fabricated and installed a brand-new stainless steel-covered access hatch. And they closed off the hole behind a dormer where squirrels were getting into the attic. I was also very pleased that they worked hand in hand with Charlie Hibbard, my HVAC contractor, to install an emergency vent pipe from the air conditioning air handler's drain pan in the attic through the roof. I was very pleased with the professionalism and prompt response to my inquiry. Dan Rank came out and sized up the situation within just a few days of my call. The work was done a few weeks later, after I decided between the stainless steel and copper alternatives and contacted Charlie Hibbard, over a period of several days. Chris Boyd and Angie in the office were also most helpful and responsive to my inquiries, both on the phone and via email. The job wasn't cheap, but I continue to marvel at the company's professionalism, responsiveness, and quality of work. They were great to do business with. When the time eventually comes to replace the entire roof, I will certainly give Samuel E. Boyd, Inc. a call.

Very responsive. Work was scheduled quickly and done on time. The crew was very good and did and excellent a job. The cost was within 10 percent of my estimate for the work to be done.

Mr. Bell arrived on time and was very attentive to what I was trying to achieve. He took a good look at all the work that had to be done and was done in about 20 minutes. We received, what I thought, was a very detailed estimate of all the work that I had requested. We did not use Samuel Boyd because we had received a lower estimate from another company. Mr. Bell tried to match it but said he could not. If the decision had been mine alone, I would have used Samuel Boyd because I was confident that we would have gotten a satisfactory job.

The repairs were done on time. However, the wall in the bathroom still showed signs of a leak after a hard rain that we had. Boyd's men promptly came back out and caulked everything that could have possibly have allowed the water in. The repair on the front part of the house was also promptly done and I was given a 10% discount since the hole had not been noticed when the initial inspection had been done. It was in a difficult spot to detect on the eave of a false dormer. While the price was more than I expected because I didn't expect to have to repair eaves on dormers and replace fascia and gutters, they have been very helpful and responsive to additional needs.

They provided a reasonable estimate and did the job as promised and actually a bit under the estimate. Will use them again. Much better than another company we used, didn't do the job right the first time and were more expensive.

I have a flat, membrane roof on a DC rowhouse. Last year I called a couple companies to come out and give estimates to repair or replace the roof. The paint was peeling away pretty badily and the membrane underneath was getting dry and cracked (alligatoring). Although one company suggested replacement of the entire roof for about 7 or 8 grand, the estimator from Boyd came right out and said he didn't think it needed replaced and recommended the much cheaper resurfacing of the roof. I got quotes from Boyd and the other company and Boyd was higher for both repair and replacement of the roof. But I got them to lower their price for the repair so that it was competitive with the other company (985 v. 700). But when I went back to the other company that was cheaper, they weren't really interested in doing the work anyway, so I went with Boyd. Overall very happy with the roof. Looks good and brand new. I will update if anything goes wrong or if it wears out quicker than it should. But glad to have a refinished roof for less than $1000 that should last a few years rather than paying $8000+ for a whole new roof.

They were very prompt in coming out to give the estimate for the job. The available date to do and complete the work was within quite acceptable to us. The workmen came out completed the job without delay. The next week, the supervisor came out to inspect the work. The work was done to our satisfaction, and I would use the company again for similar work.

They did the job. They were professional, particularly the gentlemen who came out to give the estimate. The workmanship was done alright. The workmanship was alright. They are going to come back out and do some more work. I thought the service was a little pricey.

They did a good job. They cleaned up and took away all the debris. They came when they said they would and got done on time. They were efficient because I did have a follow up issue so they came out and took care of it.

The gentleman who was present at Samuel C Boyd Inc. Company was very professional. He was very knowledgeable. He knows his business. He was familiar with lot of things which he was free to discuss with me. However the estimate itself was too high; it was non-competitive.

The total job cost me $9600. I was very pleased with them. I received several estimates. Their estimate for a total roof replacement was among the lowest estimates I received. They were licensed and bonded. The manager was very prompt when he initially came out to give me an estimate. He showed up exactly when he said he would. He came with pictures and sketches to show me what was going on the roof. There was no additional price. I was very impressed with his professionalism. When the job was scheduled, they showed up when they were supposed to. They worked fast and cleaned up very well after the job. It was everything that I expected to get. So, I was very pleased with the work they did. I think the price is always expensive to replace a roof. If need be, then I would use their services again.

They seem to have done great. I've had great experiences with them in the past. They were the lowest of the 3 estimates I collected.

It took them several weeks to get to the job, but when they did it they did it well.

They were very nice. We took a little while to make a decision and they were very patient with us. They showed up on time and did the work very well. They also cleaned everything after the work was done.

The guys tested the downspout and repaired joints, but couldn't fix the gutter issue. They were there for maybe 30 minutes and I received a bill for over $200 that included "cleaned the rear gutter and two downspouts" -- this work was absolutely not done. When I called to ask about an invoice that charged me for work that was never done, I was told that they would reword the invoice but the charge would remain the same. I feel completely ripped off.

Most companies would not do a job under 40 ft. This company did! They did an excellent job!

Call originally made for the gutters to be cleaned and some missing roof shingles be replaced. The secretary made an appointment for the representative to check the roof and give me an estimate on the work I wanted done. The representative was punctual. Knocked on the door to let me know he was there before checking the roof. Upon completion, he gave me feedback on what need to replaced by drawing via a diagram he drew of my roof. Overall several shingles needed to be replaced. He gave an estimate of what the cost would be which would include the gutter cleaning. He also noted that in several places the gutter had pulled away from the roof, and said this would need to be reattached as well as the front downspout seam was broken perhaps due to a clog. He suggested that I may also want to consider screening over the gutters front and back since I live near a wooded area as a optional job. I was impressed with the representative professionalism.

They have very competitive pricing and do good work. With any questions about subsequent minor leaks (old house, difficult roof), they have been prompt to respond.
