Description of Work: This company does not operate in a manner indicative of a highly efficient customer service oriented company. The moving crew was very unprofessional and lacked the skills necessary to perform their task. For example, they improperly wrapped flatware which caused sharp knives to protrude from packing into the side of items and boxes. Secondly, they improperly wrapped wooden picture frames, furniture, and expensive trash recepticles which cause extensive damage that required vendor repair or replacement. Poor wrapping resulted in a broken glass table top, lamp shades cursed, dining room table top severely scratched, dining chair leg broken, night stand leg broken several pieces of wooden furniture scratched to name a few. We eventually had to engage the company president/owner to resolve several on site issues and eventually needed his presence to resolve and locate missing items. Upon conclusion of the service, we attempted to process our insurance claim with them to find that they only have a 30 day window for submission of the claim. This is contrary to what we understood from them. Subsequently, we procesed our claim through our homeowners insurance where we were informed the industry standard is more than just 30 days for submission of such a claim. Their unprofessionalism is evident by the fact that our insurance company attempted to contact them numerous times to no avail. | |WE WOULD NEVER USE THEM AGAIN OR RECOMMEND TO OTHERS.

Very well. I had to change my moving time from early morning to late afternoon/evening because of a mix-up with the freight elevator reservations. I called one day before the scheduled move date and time (the day before a major holiday - July 4th) and they were able to accommodate me. Also, the first moving crew that was supposed to move me got hung up on the first move and were still there after 7 hours. The mover called to inform me that they would not be able to come and advised me to call my moving coordinator, Marc, for an alternate moving crew. When I called Marc he already knew the situation and was working on a new crew for me. He called back and had a crew and said they might be a little later than planned but they were on their way. Once the moving crew arrived they were professional, friendly, careful and fast. I was moved in less than 3 hours. They even carried my sofa up two flights of stairs because the freight elevator was not large enough to accommodate my sofa. They also carried in and out fragile items like the TV that I was moving in my car. Their rating is A+ with me. They turned what could have been a nightmare moving day into a dream! I could not be more pleased. Plus the end price was less than they had originally quoted which was a nice surprise.

BestWay was by far the lowest estimate I got, about half as much as other moving companies that I contacted. The two guys arrived right on time and got right to work. They were very professional and worked quickly and carefully. They were very careful with my furniture and did a great job. The final bill was exactly what the estimate was. There were some small additions for packing supplies, some boxes and tape. I would recommend them to anyone who has to move.

We were very pleased with the responsiveness of the company initially. The company is run almost entirely by Russians, which was not a problem except for a few instances where we found it difficult to communicate with them. We dealt with an American initially, but once the moving process began, we occasionally had difficulty communicating with some of the movers. The packers seemed to do a decent job, but somewhere en route a lot of our stuff was poorly handled. Several of our plastic totes were destroyed and our headboard literally had tire tracks running across it. We also ended up with a box that belonged to someone else. We contacted Bestway, and they never responded, so we took it upon ourselves to track down the owner and deliver it. We were disappointed in the amount of time it took to receive our stuff. While technically within the 10-15 business days allowed for in the fine print of their contract, we had hoped it would take less time. I would use them again for a local move, but not for a long haul. It appeared that they lost control of how stuff was handled once it left the area.

.I cannot say enough good things about the moving service provided by Best Way Movers. I contacted them early in the month of April, trying to plan ahead for the move, but I ignorantly selected another moving company that had a much lower bid offer. When I discovered -- two days before the move -- that the low-bid company I selected was fraudulent, I called back Best Way to see if they could help. Miraculously, Marc managed to arrange for a truck and three men in spite of the fact it was the end of the month, a time when many people are moving. My only complaint was that I was originally told that the team would show up between 8 - 10 am., but showed up at 11 am instead. The house I was moving out of was 1 hr,., 45 mins. away from the office, which should've meant that the men showed up around 10 am instead. When the moving team did arrive, I could see that they were very dedicated workers. They immediately got to work and worked straight through for four hours. Around 1:45, I put lunch out for the moving team, but they wouldn't even stop for lunch until the entire job was complete (around 3 pm), and even then, the person acting as the team lead wouldn't stop and eat at my house -- he took the food with him, eating in the truck, so that he wouldn't be on the clock while taking a break. (I felt actually bad about this, as I believe in workers having the right to have breaks on the job, and would've gladly paid him for his break, but he wouldn't even entertain the possibility.) My job wasn't easy, since the main part of the house was elevated, and everything had to be hand carried down the stairs. And, due to the fact that my items were going into storage at their facility, these men wrapped everything very carefully with plastic wrap and/or boxes cut to size, if necessary. I was really surprised by the amount of attention they gave to ensure that each item was packed correctly. I occasionally have used other moving companies and have had very mixed results. One previous time, a company sent three workers, two of which reeked of alchol before the move was over. I am very happy to report that none of the three men had been drinking prior to or on the job, On another move, the moving company sent a team that had another move the same day as mine, which meant the men worked fast to get my move complete, but did not seem to work very carefully. Again, not an issue with Best Way. Two thumbs up for Best Way movers!!!
Description of Work: I had a challenging move -- way out in the country, down a couple of dirt roads. Most of the house's furnishings were on the second and third floors, with a long stairway that required most of the heavy items being hand-carried down a long set of steps. The job required more packing than I expected, and the packing costs for wrap, tape and boxes came to almost $400 of the price listed above. Note: I couldn't figure out how to get the address into the system correctly, but this move occurred in St. Mary's County, MD.

Bestway Movers responded to a blanket request for moving services I did online. They were persistent with emails and calls to bid, and I ended up choosing them. The pick up was fairly good, and occurred on June 10. However the movers arrived 2.5 hours late. I had to call them about 90 minutes after the scheduled pick up to see where they were. The movers wrapped anything that might get nicked in shrink wrap, and more delicate things like a sectional couch and furniture with wood veneer in blankets and shrink wrap. The movers did break a couple of glasses. Confusion did arise, which I admit is partially my misunderstanding, on the delivery date. About a week before my arrival in Cambridge I called the firm to confirm the date. I had put down July 2 as my earliest delivery. The form, however, has a note about there being a 5-7 business day window for delivery. I understood this as the same as the minimum time it would take them to transport. But this was in addition to any minimum time it would take for transport. Since this doesn't make sense to me: if they knew my desired delivery date three weeks in advance, why can't they schedule transport and delivery with in that timeframe? So when he told me that my stuff could arrive anytime between July 2 and July 15 (with the holiday in there) I was upset since I have to be in place in my house for a study program. After clearing this up, and requesting they be more explicit in stating this window, I offered to pay extra for it to be delivered by July 2, about an additional $350. The movers did arrive on July 2. After an expected 4 pm (they were driving up from DC that morning, an 8-9 hour drive depending on traffic), they came in around 8 pm. Most everything arrived intact. A couple of broken dishes, which is almost required. However, they did not bring my mattress, the wood slats that fit in the bed frame to support the mattress (no boxframe), and a large wall mirror. I had to negotiate with them about their cash delivery rule, and pulled back $300 of the balance until those pieces were delivered. Since this was Thursday, before the 4th of July, I did not receive the remaining items until July 6, Monday. However, those movers brought the wrong size bed slats. I have a full-size and they brought queen size slats. I didn't figure that out until about 6 pm because I was doing other errands. When I called the dispatcher that night, he said the would try the storage facility the next morning. The next morning after not receiving a call, I called the dispatch again, and explained the situation. Since I had little faith on the speed of the delivery, I told him I would be buying the slats from the Boston outlet of the store I bought my bed, and would send him the receipt for reimbursement ($50 + taxes). What struck me as odd was no indication that the dispatch person realized he had two customers with the wrong bed slats. I will not be recommending this mover.
