American Professional Chimney & Masonry

Not great. I had expected to receive a full, thorough inspection, and a full, thorough plan for how I could solve my house's water problems (drips in basement, water pooling right next to the foundation, gutters not angled correctly, etc.). Instead I got a quote from the company for the things that they could fix, and even that wasn't complete, in my opinion. I should have just researched companies and called a company that specializes in this area. They would most likely give me a free estimate, then done the work if the price was right.

They guys were very good. They did an efficient job.

Their price was competitive, they (a 2man crew) worked very hard, and they were always on time.

I was contacted the same day that I purchased the coupon for the discounted inspection rate. I got the coupon because I had a significant amount of water in the basement after one of the severe storms, and needed to assess its origin & how to repair it. The inspection was done several days later, and I found it to be very thorough. I requested a proposal for the work needed and an estimate for the cost. I found the estimate to be very reasonable considering the amount of work that was needed. The job was scheduled within a week of the inspection and was completed in several days. The work included a drainage trench, sump pumps and modification of the outdoor drainage from the gutters, as well as the sealing of a window that was allowing water to leak into the basement. Upon completion, I was given a walk-through to see the repairs and instructions for maintenance. In addition, I was advised of some potential areas of outdoor masonry that might require future repair. I was very impressed with the entire process, and completely satisfied with the work & service that I received. I would highly recommend this company, and I plan to use their services again to address their recommendations for future repairs.

We were very satisfied. They didn't have to do anything basically and they gave us some tips about how often to have a check. They were very courteous and very pleasant. There were no additional charges. It was punctual and it was handy. They were courteous. We didn't have the feeling that they were trying to take us for a ride.

The team that was sent to my house did a fantastic job. They were in and out in less than an hour and they cleaned every thing! I woiuld definately recommend them again!

We purchased the coupon and called for an appointment. It was easy to make and a few days later they came and cleaned it as well as did a detailed inspection of both chimney pipes.

The workers were scheduled to come out between 1:00 and 2:00 PM on a weekday. They arrived within the scheduled time, cleaned the flue and chimney from the basement and from the top of the chimney, and were out within about an hour. I have used American Professional Chimney several times before--to install a chimney and clean the chimney--and have been very pleased with their service which is why I use them every year or two. I like the fact that they don't keep you waiting outside of the appointed time. They also manage to work within a tight area in my basement without complaint.

That turned out. I didn't use their service, but they gave me an estimate of the work. There were no additional charges. They were efficient, and he showed me other things that I could do for the work that I needed done, and he gave me a pretty fair estimate. I had gotten other estimates before. He was a really nice guy.

It was an Angie's List Big Deal that I purchased. It was fine. Just perfect. No complaints. The gentleman was very courteous and thorough. He walked me through what he did and what he found. It was fine and it is working well. They pointed out a few things that needed to be fixed. I would definitely recommend them. I didn't spend any additional.

There was a mix up with the address so they showed up to the wrong address. They did a good job on the cleaning.

We got three estimates for repairing our chimney. American Professional wanted to replace the whole chimney, and two other companies wanted to replace different numbers of rows based on their assessments of the extent of the cracking in the bricks/grout. Even though their total estimated price was the highest, we liked them the most and thought they were the most professional and thorough in their assessment. We did not, however, want to (or felt we needed to) replace the whole chimney, since it leads into a non-functioning fireplace alcove anyway. We pushed back on their assessment of the whole thing needing replacing, and agreed that they would make an assessment on the day of as to how many rows really needed to be pulled out rather than just demolishing the whole thing. As it turned out, they didn't have to replace the whole chimney, and were very pleased with the work they did.

I ordered some "check and clean your chimney" package via Angie's list for $119. (I hadn't used my wood burning stove in the 8 years since I bought my house.) They came when they were supposed to and were polite and kept things clean. My chimney was fine. They told me I needed a chimney cap (I guess my old one had fallen off), which they said they could install. They also said the cement at the top of my chimney was wearing down, and they wanted to put some sort of rubber cap on top of the chimney for several hundred dollars. I wasn't sure about that -- it felt like I was at a quick oil change place and they were just trying to sell me stuff.

The service turned out fine. We did not pay anything additional.

My allergies prevented me from using them because of the equipment used. They were very accommadating.

The service was excellent. I had a leak in my ceiling due to rotted bricks and mortar, and gaps in the chimney flashing. They came right out to fix the leaks, and then later came to do the sealant (temperature needed to be above 40 degrees)

The technicians were great, friendly and made sure that the area's involved were cleaned up. They replaced my dryer vent which none of Best Buy's technicians figured out why my vent light kept coming on my dryer. The one they installed was wrong. These guys are great!

I haven't had anyone come out from Angie's List that I wasn't thrilled with, so I give them all A's.

It went fine except he wanted to sell me a unit that was high priced but he did a good job and he was professional. He left the flue area at the top open so i had to deal with that. He was on time and did exactly what he said he would do. He wanted to repair a lot of things but i don't have a contract. The price was good.

Estimator and masons were all very professional. Office staff was very helpful and courteous on the phone and kept me updated with any schedule changes. Estimate was clearly explained and questions were clearly answered. After beginning work, the masons realized that the ceramic chimney lining was cracked. They replaced it without additional charge. Not much dust came into the house. The masons made sure the flue was closed well before beginning work. Job took two days for brickwork and 1 day for waterproofing after mortar was cured. Very nice job!

Brian was the person who came to do the inspection. He was very professional and they were clean and quick. While inspecting the chimney he noticed that the crown had some cracking and recommended that it be repaired as water penetration could cause it to get worse. He asked if I had had the work done recently which I had and instead of doing the hard sell, he suggested that I call the company that had done the work and have them repair the cracks since it still be covered by their warranty which it was. We were also getting smoke from the fireplace coming into the Living Room. Brian recommended and gave an estimate to install a new smoke guard to reduce the opening but also suggested that we tape a piece of aluminum foil across the top to simulate the smoke guard to ensure that it would solve the problem before paying for the actual work. We did this and realized that the cleaning of the fireplace flue had solved the problem. We appreciated that Brian was thorough and professional in doing his work and although he found some maintenance items, did not push us to do the work. I wish more companies took this approach. They have definitely earned our future business!

It went well. The technician found cracks in the firebox and I would like to follow up on that now.

The scheduling of the appointment by telephone went fine. The appointment was scheduled within a few days of my request. The estimator came out to the house and got right to work. He asked me to show him my concerns and I showed him an area on the interior wall which was showing some efflorescence. He checked the flues at their termination in the basement and then went up on the roof to see the chimney/crown. There was some cracking and a stone was loose. Because of the stone construction of the chimney he needed to get some research done to see about materials for the work. He said he would have an estimate back to me within a day or two. It has now been more than three weeks and have not received an estimate or any contact from the company with follow-up information.

The workers were able to perform the work quickly and found multiple problems that should be taken care of soon. The estimate was around the dollar amount I expected and after discussing the required work with my spouse, we will seriously consider them to perform it. Overall, an outstanding and professional crew who went above and beyond what we had asked them to do.

It went great. Very professional and courteous crew, quality work, good communication. They said they would came back a few days later to remove the plastic from the cap once the concrete set. They did (and they called to remind me on the day they would be up on the roof). Overall would definitely use them again.
