Bought a deal on Angie?s list for a Chimney cleaning. They contacted me via phone when the service was scheduled to let me know the time window for my appointment. On the day of service, the office and service personnel called to let me know they were running ahead of schedule and asked if they could come early. The service technician called a few minutes latter to do the same. I was happy to accommodate the change. They were very nice and quick once on site. They did the cleaning as requested and provided me a recommended list of repairs after the inspection. I have recently scheduled the recommended repairs with them later in June. Overall the company was very responsive.

The chimney people showed up on time and immediately started on cleaning up the fireplace. They then inspected the chimney interior to make sure there wasn't any major cracks or damage to the lining. Afterwards, they inspected the smoke stack as we stated there were small leaks occurring whenever there were long bouts of rain. They did an excellent and quick job on cleaning up the soot as well as make a few recommendations on how to protect the back of the fireplace wall from heat damage. They also provided an on the spot estimate on repairing the smoke stack as we found there were small water leaks occurring whenever there are long bouts of rain.

They actually did more than a chimney sweep, they also fixed some broken side and helped us convert it to a gas. It went very well. They're very clean, very professional, they take the time to show what they've done and what else they still need to do. They were knowledgeable enough to not just put in the wrong piece. They have fair pricing, they're prompt, they were here when they said they were gonna be here, they have someone call for customer service to check to see if everything is going alright. One time we had to reschedule because of weather and that was done promptly as well. I'm very pleased with the overall response. I would recommend them to someone else.

Chimney sweep went well and the technician seemed very knowledgeable. However, when we called the company about performing other repairs, they never got back to us.

Well, the service went fine. The two individuals were very professional and punctual. I need additional repairs on my chimney but I did not receive a heavy sales pitch. I really appreciated that. In addition, during the inspection I was informed that I had a raccoon taking residence in my chimney. As a result of keeping the raccoon out of my fireplace I did purchase a chimney cap for $115 additional. At the end I was very please with the service.

I called to get a free estimate, they tried to charge me $40. I mentioned that online they said they gave free estimates, so the person on the phone said "oh yes, okay." then we scheduled an appointment for Saturday (6/7). They called Thursday to confirm a time (2:30 to 4pm) and I called them back to confirm. No one showed up.

I used a coupon to have our chimney cleaned. When the workers arrived, they were unable to perform the work because, unbeknownst to me, the chimney had been sealed years before. So they left. After voicing my dissatisfaction for the lack of service, Mr. Myers, the owner of the company called me to apologize and ensure that I was given a full refund. Although my initial experience was negative, they turned it around by doing the right thing. In the end, I was very happy with their professionalism and would recommend them.

They were prompt to answer and take my information, and the estimator was prompt to call and attempt to set up an estimate appointment, but I had left my phone at home for a long weekend away. After calling the estimator back several times (which I should have taken as a bad sign), he answered and we set up an appointment for between 9am-10am Saturday morning. I called him at 10 after 10am, no answer. No call no show. I so badly want to find someone reliable to do this job, but I guess it won't be American Professional

We purchased a "fixer upper" with 2 fireplaces. I am very thankful I had arranged for a cleaning and inspection because he informed me my fireplaces were not safe and he showed my some serious issues that our house inspector failed to see.

They did a great job containing the mess of the chimney, and then offered to show me the chimney issues needing attention. They then provided a fair estimate for work that we will have them do at a future date.

He never gave me a written report. He gave me a verbal report while performing the inspection. I would of liked to receive a written report especially since I had asked for one. I was not impressed.

They did an outstanding job! Dave Myers, the boss, is a true professional and gentleman. They did a beautiful job rebuilding my chimney. They spent a huge amount of time ensuring that the brick and mortar matched the rest of the chimney. They did meticulous work. I highly recommend them! I would definitely use them again.

Brian was fantastic. I had to leave the house for an emergency doctor's appointment and he assured me he could get everything done in time for me to leave. And he did. He and his assistant were efficient and knew exactly what to do. They were quick, clean, and friendly - everything I could want. I will definitely hire them again next year.

My house had several big problems: the chimney was too short and unlined and didn't have a cap, and the flue pipes were in bad shape. American Chimney came very promptly to look at the house (their guy was charming, and pronounced chimney as chimley), and they sent people the next day to do the work. They did an outstanding job. The masonry work is top-notch and looks beautiful, the pipes look good--and the chimney liner comes with a lifetime warranty. It's been more than two years (I really apologize for not writing this sooner), and I have had zero problems since then. I would recommend them to anyone.

Responded immediately to my purchase of their service of Cleaning our Chimney and Fireplace. Professional, friendly and very clean - not a speck of ash in the air or on the surrounding floor and furniture! Fabulous!

Very pleased. The date of the scheduled work, the team arrived on time but could only do the cleaning due to bad weather. They just returned to do the inspection. They found some areas that need reprinting, and because they had worked on this this chimney in the fall, 2011, they are doing this new repointing under warranty. They also found some additional areas that need new silicone and they will come back to do that work. I'll be sure to update my review. So in summary: work done as promised, on time (weather notwithstanding), and the teams were very punctual and professional. Frankly, we originally found this company for the 2011 work through a Web search. We were already planning to call them again when we joined Angie's List.

You can't beat their online booking system. I love being able to see dates and available time slots, along with a prompt confirmation. The guys called ahead to let me know where they were, they showed up on time, and they have a professional looking van... not some generic, creepy white van with no company logo. I bought the Angie's list deal for my upstairs fireplace; however, I have a downstairs fireplace that needed to be checked as well. So, the guy cut me a deal and cleaned/inspected that one as well. Although this is the first time I've had a chimney cleaned, so I have nothing to compare them too, I'd use them again (with a coupon of course).

They did fine but the quote was very expensive.

I have had them out a second time for additional work. Scheduling was not a problem and cleanup was excellent; I had no problems. The prices they charge seem to be the same as their competitors and the inspection was fine.

The crew was on time, nice, and professional. My only issue was that they don't cover the opening to the fireplace when they are cleaning the chimney. We use our fireplace a lot, so I knew it would be dirty. I asked them to cover it. They initially said their vaccuum was sufficiently strong that it would catch all the dust. When it didn't, they want to the truck and got a big plastic container to try to cover the fireplace, but it was still messier than I would have liked. They tried their best, but I would hope that their standard operating procedure for the company would be to formally cover the fireplace before beginning the sweeping.

I scheduled an appointment with the provider to come to my home between 8:00 a.m. and 8:30 a.m. on Friday, May 16. No one showed up, either at that time or any time that day. I called the (202) telephone number in the provider's Angie's List profile but received a message stating that the voice mailbox was full. I followed up again on Wednesday, May 21 to inquire why the estimator didn't come or call, and whether someoen could still come to my home to give me an estimate for refinishing my concrete front stoop. The woman replied that she would call Steve and tell him to call her back immediately--she would, then, call me back. I did not hear back from her. The lack of responsiveness was very disappointing. The provider should keep in mind that technical skill alone is not enough to win and retain customers--having "soft skills" such as showing up for scheduled appointments and following up is important since it shows professionalism and reliability.

The work has not been performed yet due to the rain, but they have been responsive so far.
