Polite and professional service. The technician made an thorough assessment and provided with a repair estimate. He even found a minor issue in the roof and suggested me to contact a roofing company.

I called this provider to get information. The woman who answered the phone was rude and discourteous. Not a good way to run a business or treat potential customers.

We recently purchased a town home in NOMA that had some pretty intense masonry issues from a leaking gutter and a chimney stack that was crumbling. Catherine was extremely knowledgeable and dispatched the appropriate team to come out and do an estimate. The pricing was very reasonable and we scheduled the work. It was the middle of a rough winter so work had to be done when temperatures were conducive to the brick work needed but Steve and his team kept us totally informed and worked around our schedule. Having the chimney replaced was so easy! Ours looks the best on our block! After seeing what a fantastic job Steve and Flash did repointing the entire back of the house and waterproofing, we asked them to also help finish the interior exposed brick wall! We are SO happy with all the work American Professional Chimney and Masonry did on our house. They will be the first person I call when the front of the house needs pointing work! Highly highly highly recommend!

They provided an estimate, but were unable to clean our chimney because of repairs that were needed first.

I have mixed feelings about this company. I contacted them based on Angies list reviews and asked for an estimate. their crew showed up on time and said we are here to look at your chimney. About an hour later they said "we are done" and also took some pictures to show additional work that could be done. they didn't give an estimate, but relaid the crown. I received a bill for work performed. I asked via email how to remit payment and never received a response. I ended up mailing a physical check for the crown because it looks and performs great (water was running down chimney during rainstorms before crown relay), but I ended up finding debris from their work in my bushes and yard a couple weeks later. Update: after the company saw my original review, they contacted me and asked for clarification. I explained further and the office manager apologized, said they would work out the miscommunication with the crew. She offered to send out a crew to clean up, but it was an easy cleanup for me. She also sent me a rebate that same day. I appreciate the concerns.

No problems with service as performed - the work was done on time and with reasonably good communication - I used an Angie's List special deal for a lower price, and I think that may have been why the technician tried to sell us on a lot of additional "repair" work for the chimney. I did not take any of their suggestions, since I had had extensive repair done when I first purchased the place two years before, including a completely new flue. This year (2014) I had a chimney sweep come in and I asked specifically if there was any work to be done, and he affirmed that everything looked good. I cannot say definitively, but that is suspicious to me.

All went as expected. The guys that came informed me that we had some cracking and other repair work that needed to be done on the chimney. They provided a fair estimate, which we decided to accept and they again were very professional with the second appointment, coming on time and taking care of the necessary repair quickly and efficiently. I would recommend them to friends.

I was told an Estimator would be contacting me on Tuesday, July 29th; same day of my initial call. Never heard from anyone on the 29th. Called back on the morning of July 30th and told the receptionist I never heard from an Estimator. She told me he would be calling. Never heard from anyone on the 30th. Called back again on the morning of July 31st and told the receptionist I still have not heard from an Estimator. She said she would contact the Estimator out in the field and have him call me right away. 4:40pm on Thursday, July 31st. Called back again. Was placed on hold for over 5 minutes and eventually gave up.

Great communication with the home office. Easy to set up the appointment. Showed up on time, left the place as they found it. Also took measurements of the fireplace for me to purchase a stove insert. No reason not to recommend these guys if you need service!

The service was really good. They are the best chimney sweep company I have ever had in the past nine years. They wrote up what needed to be done to my chimney and let me know in what time frame the work needed to be done in. They were very clean, courteous and respectful. They cleaned my chimney without damaging the bricks.

I had a last-minute need to get a chimney inspected in a house I'm buying. It was last-minute because the seller was supposed to get the chimney repaired, but I had doubts about the quality of the repair (the repair was NOT done by American Professional Chimney & Masonry). The chimney problem was a potential fire hazard, and so I wanted to get an inspector from APCM to look at it - preferably w/out having to push back the settlement date. This company was one of the first who contacted me back, so I gave them a good grade for responsiveness. But when they called me with my appointment time, I asked if they could possibly come a little earlier. The young woman I was speaking too transferred me to a rude and gruff lady who snapped at me for not giving them all the info in the first place (which I couldn't because my agent had just informed me when we needed to be out of the house). I think she put me on speaker phone because I could barely hear her...phones were ringing in the background and she continued to grumble and growl and tell me to hold on. I know my request was a bit disorganized due to the time crunch, but a simple "no, we won't be able to arrive earlier" would have been sufficient. In fact, if she had declined my request politely rather than trying to accommodate me rudely, she would have retained me as a future customer. As it is, I won't be using this company at all.

First, Catherine was fantastic to work with. Prompt, efficient, and into the details. Servicemen were on time, every time. First person who came out for estimate was Alex. Loved him. After 3 other bids, it was a no brainer to go with American Professional Chimney, even if they weren't the cheapest. Work was supposed to start on a Friday. The day before, on Thursday, Catherine called asking if they could start the job that day. I hadn't even signed the contract yet or given the deposit. Work was started a day early, and finished by Saturday. Towards end of job, I was not sure that the new vents were code, or that they had the right angle to vent properly. Upon asking, the servicemen called Catherine, who then called me, and she sent the owner of the company out immediately to assess. He spent over an hour with us, assessing the work, making some minor modifications, and explaining our entire system to us. My only complaint was that I had requested Alex to do the work (and told he would), but he only worked 1 of the 3 days because he was already committed - despite the fact we scheduled specifically so that he could do my job. I would use them again in a heartbeat.

Ms Catherine Wilson was very accommodating. I was in the process of selling my home and the status of the home sale was changing constantly. I had requested chimney repair work to be done. Then, I had to cancel the request due to having an active sales contract on the home...The process of selling my home went round and round for awhile and Catherine was so patient and flexible with scheduling. She understood the ups and downs of home selling and simply remained as available as possible. Finally, I was at a point I could get the work done. And sure enough, Catherine had her team ready. All went well with the new damper installation and the new owner was satisfied with the job performance and the professionalism. I was pleased that the new owner actually got to see the work being performed. All is well that ends well!

I found this company on Angie's List. The company was easy to work with and charged a highly reasonable price for a woodstove. They answer their phones, we scheduled an appointment, they called the day before to confirm, and the men arrived within the 2-hour window. They checked everything out, they cleaned the chimney, and they said everything looked good. They did not urge me to buy or do anything else like other companies. They were efficient, professional, competent, and thorough. It was a pleasure doing business with this company. I would definitely use them again and recommend them highly.

The company contracted the work out and discovered that the proposal was under-spec and didn't meet code. It would have cost more than I would have cared to pay to bring it up to code.

I originally purchased an Angie's List Big Deal for a chimney sweep and inspection for $119. The scheduling and completion of the chimny sweep and inspection went very smoothly. The crew was actally early and did an excellent job including taking picture of the areas on the outside of my chimney that needed repair. They gave me a quote for the repairs. After doing additional research, the knew the price was fair and I moved forward on scheduling the additonal repairs to the inside and outside of my chimney. The day of the repair did not go as smoothly as the sweep and inspection. I waited for the crew to arrive and finally called the office to inquire on their ETA. The woman who answered told me she was on her way to the office and would call me with an update. I waited another hour or so and called back but she was just arriving at the office and told me they were on the way. I waited another hour and called again. This time she informed me that the van the crew was in had broken down on the beltway and that they would not be able to make it. Since I had taken the day off of work for this work to be done, it needed to be done. They evenutally arrived and completed the work in about 4 hours - much less time than expected. Overall, they work was excellent - even with the timing and communication issues.

I had purchased and scheduled the service but determined that it was not needed due to the service being recently performed by another vendor before I bought the property. The provider graciously refunded the purchase. However, having experienced this type service elsewhere I believe the price of the service is a little too high.

We were very impressed with the work. First, Brian came out to do an assessment of what needed to be done. We had had a few other companies come out to do the same, and Brian was the only one who actually bothered to go up on the roof and the chimney to look first-hand. Plus he really seemed to understand our needs much better than the other companies. Once the work began, the first crew (headed by Oscar) did the power wash, grinding and tuckpointing. We had recently had a new roof put on, and they were very careful not to damage it. They made up a number of test batches of mortar so as to match the existing mortar as much as possible. Once they were done, the second crew (headed by Brian) constructed a new cement crown with a drip edge and drip groove. Again, they did the work carefully. After pouring the crown it had to set for a few days, and they covered it with heavy duty plastic to prevent damage from the heavy rains we got. The result is a great looking and certainly more functional crown than the cracked one we had previously.

I never scheduled an appointment with them. So, I cannot make any comments their service.
