Howard and his colleague did a great job. They were efficient, friendly, and from what I can tell thus far got the job done correctly. Howard was very pleasant and took the time to explain the problem, the solution, the process, etc. He even tried to explain why the furnace still was not working after they were finished the job, something that he was not obligated to do (turned out it needed to be reset). The other plus was that they were willing to come to the house the next day after I called them. This was great considering we were without heat, and some other companies told me they were booked for 1+ month out. The price was fairly comparable to some other quotes I got - not the lowest, not the highest. Only one small negative here and that was they were about 20-30 minutes late arriving to my house. But considering the efficiency of their work and their customer service, I was willing to overlook the slight tardiness.

I don't have a brick chimney, my house has siding, so the chimney is a standard prefab that they install in nonbrick houses in our area. This means you need a chimney chase cover and a chimney cap when they wear out. My previous one had rusted and there were holes, letting in some moisture. I was shocked to hear the price for this service and materials. I went online to see that you can send your actual measurements to a firm in Michigan and they will make a chimney chase cover and cap for DIYers. At any rate, they have a cost calculator on their website. The cost would be over $400, but certainly less than $500, for the stainless steel parts. That company charges $300 for local installation. So, my charge was 50% more than what I would have paid if I had lived in Michigan! I know we are a high cost of living area, but that seems much too high. And my $1200 price was negotiated down. On the first visit the workmen spent about 20 minutes inspecting and measuring. On the second visit, they spent under an hour installing. On the positive side, the crews and office staff were very nice and professional and efficient. I am happy workers are happy and are paid a fair wage, but the profit on this job seems too much even if it is the going rate in the DC area. Also note that if you are comparison shopping, this is the same company as chimney.com

They inspected the chimney and cleaned the inside with brooms. It still has a smell to it and I feel it was not a thorough cleaning. I know other companies use power tools with wire brushes on the end. Next time I will use one of those contractors to ensure a deep cleaning is conducted. It was only $125. So I at least got an inspection for that price an a light cleaning.

The entire experience went very well. There was a slight hiccup in scheduling and Catherine, the office manager, worked it out to everyone's satisfaction which was much appreciated to keep on schedule. The workers were very knowledgeable, professional, and kind. Would definitely use them again.

I called about having a chimney cap installed. I was quoted a price of $125. The workers arrived on time and after setting up told me they would need to reinforce the concrete and the flute was too short so they would need an extension. I asked and what would that cost and was told $350. The entire process took less than 30 minutes. When they were done they handed me a bill for $495 and showed me a picture of what was done. the cement work looked amateurish- surely not worth an extra $350. It seemed like a real bait and switch job. I definitely would not recommend the company.

The young men were very polite and arrived promptly when they said they would. The service was performed quickly and unobtrusively, and they also inspected the chimney cap for rust (which they found). Afterwards, they provided photographs of the cap and a quote for the repair, which I have forwarded to the owners. I would definitely use them again.

Did not do work since they don't come out to my area, despite what is listed on Angie's list.

Bought through the AngiesList deal to install a new stainless steel chimney cap; got scheduled to work in 3 days. They came out as scheduled and did the job quickly. He also fixed the damper for me which I could not close myself. Afterwards, the guy showed me some pictures of the chimney top and recommended repairs and left an estimate. The process was very smooth. Will work with them again.

I bought the house about a year ago and had never used the fireplace. Because of the outstanding reviews on Angie's List, I decided to try American Professional Chimney and Masonry to inspect my fireplace/chimney to determine if I needed a cleaning, lining or repair to the firebox/chimney. Manuel and Cesar were there on time and very professional in their demeanor. They went right to work to analyze the situation and determine what--if anything was required. To my delight they said that all was in good working order--a twig had fallen into the chimney so that the damper was blocked from opening completely, which they removed. They said the chimney didn't need cleaning and was already lined. So, they didn't try to sell me something I didn't need or want. I really appreciated their honesty and professionalism. I will be calling next year to schedule a yearly cleaning/inspection.

Two people came out for the work. It took them about two and a half hours. I would definitely recommend them to friends or family. Overall, it was a great experience.

Two masons showed up on time as scheduled. Very nice men. I had matching bricks so company did not need to provide them. This was a small job. When I was told the job was finished I noticed that a brick adjacent to the last replaced was broken and should have been replaced. I pointed it out and the additional brick was removed and replaced. A few other areas in need on grout/cement were graciously filled. Good value, nice men, overall very pleased.

We recently purchased our home and the previous owners had neglected a water problem in the chimney for many years; it was in very bad shape. An estimate was provided, and included services that would prevent the same water problem in the future. The two gentleman who performed the work arrived on time and kept the area clean. When the liner was replaced, he took pictures of the interior of the chimney to show me the progress. We will absolutely use them in the future for maintenance.

By fare, they gave us the best estimate and their work was excellent.

During a recent roof inspection, a contractor pointed out that our stone chimney was losing nearly all of its mortar After some failed attempts to find a local contractor by ?word of mouth,? we went to Angie?s List. We quickly found that that not all chimney companies work with stone chimneys. We found three contractors on Angie?s List and arranged for someone from each to look at the chimney and give us estimates. One contractor said the mortar should be replaced and sealed. The second contractor said the same thing, but he never went on the roof to check. And the third contractor did a visual inspection of the chimney?s outside and the flue inside the chimney. The person doing the inspection said the 30-foot stainless steel pipe should be replaced. After talking with the three contractors, we decided to hire American Chimney. Even with the inclusion of the steel liner, American Chimney was by far the best value. We set a date for the work to start. The men who arrived to do the work were prompt and pleasant, and they also arrived on time. It took two days to remove the loose mortar and apply the new mortar. After letting the mortar dry for a few days, American Chimney returned, on schedule, and completed the water proofing. At all times, the employees were extremely professional. They worked long hours and did a beautiful job. American Chimney asked if we wanted the mortar to blend with the house?s color. We said ?Yes,? and that?s what they did. They also replaced some cap stones on the top of the crown. The chimney looks great We have no reservations about recommending them to others. In fact, if we ever need more chimney work (let?s hope not), they would be the first call we would make.

The chimney clean was done without leaving and dust or ash ending up in our living room.

When buying a home, my home inspector said he couldn't see past an acute angle in the flue and that I needed to bring in a chimney specialist. APCM responded promptly to my message and was able to make time for me within my inspection contingency period. Brian and Kevin arrived right on time. They inspected the fireplace and chimney, and gave me a quote to fix cracks in the crown of the chimney. The inspection itself was free. I intend to have them back to conduct the repair after closing. UPDATE: After closing, I had APCM back to repair the chimney crown. They charged $350 to apply a latex membrane to seal the cracked cement crown. They provided photographs of "before" and "after," so that I could see the work. Everything went very smoothly, and I plan to use APCM for all my chimney needs.

American Professional Chimney arrived on time. The technicians cleaned the chimney from inside the house and inspected the chimney from the roof. They did not make a mess or leave debris behind. I was pleased with the service.

The crew was on time, extremely neat, and very helpful. I will use them again in the future.

I originally just wanted the rubber strip at the bottom of the garage door replaced, since it was falling off, by JW talked me into an Angie's List deal for a check up of the entire system. It was the right thing to do since the garage door hadn't been inspected for at least 10 years (it was installed about 14 years ago. I am fortunate that it was in good shape, but various roller wheels were replaced and the entire thing was lubricated. The door opens and shuts much more quietly and smoothly, so it was all worth it. The rubber strip was replaced at an additional $25 or so, which I expected so it was no surprise. I don't remember the name of the gentleman who performed the service, but he was polite, professional, efficient and helpful. I am very happy customer.

American Professional Chimney and Masonry is a class act. When I called for an estimate, they came out the next day and gave a fair assessment of the entire chimney and the brickwork all around the house. Their price was right, and their estimate crew was very nice - Cesar even cleaned out my gutters to kill time!! Who does that!? When it came to doing the job, their crews were professional all day, every day. They did great work, and I am so happy with the state of my chimney and the tuckpointing they did on other parts of the house. They left a clean workspace, taught me how to use the new flue, and went through every point on the work order to make sure that their job was done. Brickwork can be noisy, especially when you have to demolish half of the chimney, but other than the tool noise the men were polite and quiet - no stereos blasting or loud unnecessary shouting. I am very happy with my experience, and I will call on them if needed in the future.
