They did a good job overall but they didn't show up to the appointments on time and missed one completely.

We used an Angie's deal to get our fireplaces and stove cleaned and inspected. It was easy to make an appointment and they could come out sooner than other places. They don't give you a two hour window of when they'll be there until the night before. That was the only downfall for us. The showed up on time and did great work! We'd use them again.

He came out to inspect, but the job was too dangerous.

I called this company last week after reading some reviews on Angie's List to schedule chimney sweeping and inspection. I was given an appointment for Tuesday, November 25, 2014 and told that they would call me back on Monday the 24th to give me a time for the service call. I was at home all day on Monday and no call. At 5:45pm I decided to call them to get the 'window' for the service on Tuesday. The woman that answered the phone was not very pleasant and she told me that she hadn't gotten to that part of the scheduling yet that she would be calling me back in about an hour. As I sit here now it is 10:00pm and I have still not received a phone call with a time for tomorrow's service. So, if you're reading this you can cancel my appointment. My initial dealings with this company have been unsatisfactory. When you tell a customer you're going to do something, you should really do it! I will begin searching for another company to build a business relationship with that knows how to treat their customers. Very disappointed!!!

The first team who came to remove the original terra-cotta liner was very professional, knew exactly what had to be done and left the work areas immaculate. The installation of the new liner went without a hitch . The installation of the new gas log set was done by the owner Dave, who was only available to complete the job in the early evening, and did not leave until the job was completed to his and my satisfaction at 10 pm. I would definitely recommend this company to neighbors and friends.

Submitted a request for an estimate through their website and Catherine got back to me within a day. Scheduled the technicians for 830-9am two days later. I emailed Catherine shortly after 9am to inquire as no one had showed and called the office at 945am. Spoke with two less-than-pleasant individuals that exuded a sense that I was inconveniencing them, when I was the one that had stayed home from work for the appointment. I was told I was not on the schedule and that their boss had no recollection of emailing with me. Told me she would see if they could get a technician that day and that she would call me back. Called back around 11:15am, I missed the call and she left a voicemail stating that they had no idea which day they had re-scheduled me for and to please call them back. I thought they were finding out if there was an available technician? Apparently not. Didn't call back as I don't feel like they cared at all about the inconvenience and how chaotic the communication was. They get a B for the initial email back from Catherine and eventual call back. Professionalism/Organization was lacking and punctuality.....well.

Fine - a little late but courteous and clean

The cleaning went fine and the provider was careful and cleaned up thoroughly. The inspection of the outside of the chimney was done to fine any problems and the provider listed out all the needed repairs. I received an estimate for $900 for repointing of the mortar and sealing the concrete at the top of a 25 year old chimney. I called a few days later to schedule the repair but was told by the scheduler that she was too busy and she'd call me back later that day. She never called. I've decided to wait until spring to do repairs; after I get other estimates.

The provider did a fully satisfactory job in cleaning my chimney, checking for possible problems, and discussing with me any questions I had. Very competent and friendly staff!

Really wish I could write two separate reviews since chimney work and other brick work are completed by two different groups in the company. The initial set up for the chimney appointment happened relatively quick, and had an appointment scheduled within a week. The estimate I was provided seemed fair to repair a chimney, line it, and rebuild the firebox. The front step was little different experience. My old steps were made of concrete and I was looking to replace those with brick stairs. I was contacted close to three weeks later, and received a phone call on a Wednesday evening asking if I was available the following day for an afternoon appointment. There was no way I would be able to meet up with him, but informed him he was free to stop without me there since the project was outside my home. The quote I received was not for the requested work. I received a quote to remove my current concrete steps and replace with concrete, not brick. One thing that was interesting is on the paperwork it states what was requested. I contacted the company regarding the quote, and the told the quote would be reworked and sent back to me. I still have not received a reply.

This was a terrible experience. Scheduling was a real hassle, the receptionist was very unpleasant, and they would not give an actual time until the day before the scheduled cleaning. Literally wanted me to stay home all day. Then they call and move it a day early! They finally say they will come between 12:30 and 1-and I confirmed that several times as I was not going to be home till noon, only my wife who did not want to deal with them. And then they show up at 11am!! They clean the chimney-I guess it looks fine, and then they spend the next twenty minutes writing up a work order for $5000 worth of construction without explaining at all why it should be done or anything. They just leave a $5k quote and go. No explanation of what is wrong (if anything), and I have had other chimney people come in and say that it is in great shape. In particular they tried to get me to pay $1000 to repoint the outside chimney, when just 7months ago a chimney expert said that the outside of my chimney was in the best shape he had ever seen a chimney and it would not need work for 20 years or more. I don't trust them, and it was a very unpleasant experience.

SP can not perform deal on my house. I would like a refund.

I booked this appointment over a week in advance. The receptionist was very brusque and sounded annoyed when I called, but I went ahead and set up an appointment anyway. The day they were supposed to come, they never showed up. After waiting around (when I should have been at work), I called and the same receptionist told me that since it was raining the person couldn't come. Would have been nice to know in advance (like when I booked the appointment) that they wouldn't come in the event of rain, and would have been nice for them to actually call me the morning of. The receptionist was again very rude, and acted like I was inconveniencing her, so I told them I would find another provider.

I have had the same experience as the previous reviewer trying to schedule an estimate. I called on Monday, Nov. 10, 2014 and spoke with a very pleasant person named Helen who said it may be Thursday before I heard from someone and that I should call back on Friday and speak with her if I hadn't received an estimate. I called on Friday and asked to speak with Helen. The person who answered the phone wouldn't put me thru to Helen but told me she had just found my paperwork and she would have Stephen Rogers call me before the end of the day. That didn't happen.

Arrived on time. Professional and engaging. No mess made or left behind. Took photos of finished work. Made a few gratis adjustments and accepted Angie's list discount coupon. All in all job cost Less than expected and work was better than expected.

It went very well. They made me an offer of remodeling my chimney but there was no pressure. The assessment they did was outstanding and there cleaning job was very good. They were very courteous.

We needed the work done as soon as possible and they haven't been responsive.

I called and spoke to the receptionist/customer service over two weeks ago and she took all my information including billing, several phone number I could be reached at, and locations of work that needed to be done on our property. She assured me that a mason would call me back. I reminded her it was going to get cold soon and I needed some one quickly. Two weeks later still no call. Called back and she said the mason was out with gallstones??? I asked her if he had been out the entire two week she replied no but because of weather he may be behind...blah blah. She did her very best to be pleasant while clearing defending something she knew was un-defendable. Bottom line no one called me at all for two weeks to even give me a heads up. Guess business for them is so good they don't need anymore. My lose huh...call cancelled!

We are going to call another chimney company to get the work done.

Service was excellent. Inspection results were passed to owner of house for action. Would use again except there is no fireplace in the new house.

The chimney cleaning service went well. The team was right on time, very polite, and left the work area clean. I don't have the skills or equipment necessary to assess how dirty the chimney was before and how clean the chimney actually is now. However, the workmen said that yes, it had been dirty. We had not had a cleaning in several years. This was the first time that we used an Angie's Deal, or whatever they call it, so I was a bit apprehensive about that. However, it was easy to do and went fairly well. The vendor's manager (Catherine) was very prompt in replying and communicating about scheduling, etc. Two things to note about the Angie's Deal: 1) Savings was good, but overstated. The deal was advertised as $119 for service and inspection, but claimed to be a $159 or $169 value (I forget which). However, you can schedule this service directly on the vendor's web site for $149. So the savings that Angie's List claimed was overstated. 2) Some email notifications from Angie's List seemed to be delayed. All contact with the vendor is via the Angie's List web site. The vendor replied very quickly, but the Angie's List site did not send a notification of this to my email address promptly (many hours delay). So if you are waiting for Angie to notify you that your vendor has responded, you shouldn't. Instead, you can login and look for a response. It's minor, but Angie should fix this problem.

The chimney sweep was $119. Crown repair was $350 and entailed applying the latest crown coating substance guaranteed for ten years. The mortar between several firebox bricks needed repair. That was $175 and well worth it. I am a DIYer and thought about doing it myself. The repointing of the brick was great and am happy that I had them do it. All of their prices are competitive, and with an Angie's List discount I see no reason to go anywhere else. The crew was friendly, professional and very considerate. They took pictures of the chimney crown, before and after. It was definitely a needed repair and I feel I can rest easy burning with our 75 year chimney. Cathy was very accomodating with scheduling for the initial cleaning and the follow up repairs. Highly recommend.

Recommended service for outside chimney flashing

It was a pleasure dealing with this company from start to finish. I had another contractor out here to look at the flue, which had a small hole in it. He gave me an estimate of $3300 to repair and replace old ducts etc, subsequently lowering the estimate to $3,000. I thought this was very high and remembered I was very satisfied with another company which had installed a new chimney interior a few years ago. When they came out, the very competent young man who did the work on my chimney before arrived an gave an estimate of $455, discounted to 4$405. The work was completed speedily and I could not be more satisfied.

First, if there was a better grade for price I would give it to them. They were by far the most competitive bid we received out of approximately five we solicited. That with the solid Angie's list grade and good reviews from within the neighborhood convinced us to go with them. Steve ran our project and was attentive to the details of the job. I was applying for a country rebate for the permeable paver install, and he worked with me to make sure that the specifics of their criterion were met. And in the end we ended up with a driveway so beautiful that I don't really want to park my car on it! Great job. I will definitely be calling them again.
