American Professional Chimney & Masonry

There was a potential repair in one chimney i was worried about which they told me I didn't actually need, at least not anytime soon. While they were up on my roof, they were kind enough to check out my other chimney (which they were not here to inspect) and informed me that it needs work. Since they told me the first chimney doesn't need work, i'm more inclined to trust them when they tell me the second one does. They provided a detailed estimate of what would need to be done. I would assume that finding problems like this and bidding on the larger jobs that follow is how they get value from running chimney inspection specials. I will get an estimate on the work from another company just to check, but if the estimate is comparable to the one from American Professional, I would hire them.

Although it took several weeks to get the work done, I am please with the final result. I understand that this company was inundated with chimney/fireplace repairs, so I will give them a pass on the length of time it took to get the work done. The office personnel was friendly and showed concern due to the wait to get the work done. To be fair, the company that originally installed my fireplace had gone out of business, and American Pro was trying to find panels that would match what I had. In the end, I had to replace the entire fire place panels in order to get a uniform look. But, I am very pleased. Now, to enjoy the relaxing fires I plan to have during this holiday season!

SCHEDULING: They did a great job of scheduling and accommodating us. PRICE: The price is good and reasonable (I bought this as a 'deal' on Angie's List), but expect them to up-sell you even if nothing is wrong with your chimney. QUALITY: I gave them a "B" on quality because the firm we used last year took more time in the inspection of the chimney system. I felt that last year's firm was more thorough. RESPONSIVENESS: They responded to my order quickly PUNCTUALITY: Arrived when they said they would. PROFESSIONALISM: I gave them a "B" for professionalism. The cleaner was very nice and very professional - he deserves an "A", but I suspect his company coaches him to up-sell. After I bought this deal and read through a number of reviews, I realized that this deal would probably involve an up-sell (a number of other reviews mention that they do this.) Even though the chimney sweep last year said the chimney was in excellent shape and there were absolutely no problems (we only used the chimney lightly in the year since), I fully expected this cleaner to find something "wrong" because the other reviews said they did this. I was not disappointed. After cleaning, he started off the conversation with 'the chimney looks great and there are no problems with safety. The flue is fine and you can run a fire no problem, but...' then he went into the up-sell telling us that he wanted to write an 'estimate' for some work, including a new elaborate damper system. (The current one works fine without any problems). My concern here is that (a) given that a number of other reviews say they "up-sell" you and (b) last year's chimney sweep (smaller company and a little more expensive) told us that there was absolutely nothing wrong with the chimney system, it becomes hard for consumers to determine what is real and what isn't. Because of the up-sell part, combined with the fact that the chimney sweep from last year said the chimney was in excellent shape, I probably wouldn't use this company again.

They were very responsive. Responded immediately. I was very pleased with how quickly they came out. They didn't charge me for stuff that i didn't need. They told me cleaning was not needed, only an inspection. He told me I should get a refund with AL for this deal and pay for the necessary work directly with the company.

Overall pleased with the service. Very quick. Did not appreciate the additional sales pitch but work was good.

Quick, easy and painless. The inspector determined that we didn't need a cleaning/sweep so he directed the vendor to refund the portion of the fee that applied to the sweep.

The technician was extremely knowledgeable. He made some suggestions regarding what I needed to do in the future. My house is 28 years old and pretty much everything needs to be upgraded. There was NO pressure sales on his part. He was very professional, timely and efficient.

they were quick and very punctual. I gave them a B for professionalism because though they gave a very good description of the chimney cap that they wanted to replace, they didn't actually show me a picture of it, which they could have easily done while they were on the roof. I didn't ask for one, but I also didn't want to ask them to bring the ladder out again, go up on the roof, just to get me a pic. I would have liked that picture, though, for my information and for my records. It might have even convinced me to have it replaced, but we have a home warranty and so I will be pursueing replacement through that.

Seemed competent. Discovered a problem with my chimney and recommended a solution. I got a second opinion. The second guy confirmed the same prob lems but offered much cheaper solutions.

Cam eon time. Two guys. very professional. Explained what they will do and how long it will take. cleaned the chimney and explained what they were doing. Went up on the roof and took pictures. explained that in a year or two we would need to replace rusting chimney top. when they left. everything was clean.

I was pleased with them. Scheduling was very easy. They were prompt and responded almost immediately. The technician was insightful, knowledgeable and efficient. He also mentioned things that might need to be done in the future.

I was left with half cleaned chimney !

It didn't go at all. No one called or came over.

We made an appointment and used one of their Angie's List coupons. The day before the appointment the company contacted us and rescheduled because it had been raining and was forecast to continue raining on the scheduled work day. We rescheduled to a week later. On the new scheduled date two service men arrived on time. They professionally cleaned our fireplace and chimney. They inspected the inside and outside. They found two cracks on the crown of the chimney and left a repair estimate with pictures. I would use them again.

Estimator showed up on time. He was concerned with some cracks on back wall. Went up to roof and took pictures to show me that pipe was rusted. The cracks on the back wall are almost invisible. Was advised what to look for in the future and that, depending on use, the back wall won't need replacing for another couple of years. Got estimate for that future work. Workers also showed up on time and work was completed without any mess. A concern since I have white furniture. I had no clean up to do when they were finished.

i think the gentleman who did the work was Steve Rodgers and he did an outstanding job. he was very cordial, punctual and very professional. he even went out of his way to re-do my walkway because the bricks were initially laid horizontally instead of vertically which i preferred. so he did my walkway all over again to my preference and didn't charge me extra for it. i couldn't have been more pleased with the final product! i absolutely love the work that he did and it improved my house appearance tremendously. if i ever need any more masonry work done in the future, i'll go straight to this contractor. my walkway is absolutely beautiful!

The cleaning was straight forward and fast, 15-20 minutes. Shop vac and brushes to clean fireplace and chimney, canvas mat laid out in front of fireplace to contain the ash and soot. They recommended some mortar work and a new concrete cap which I is accurate since they are in need of repair. Needed to vacuum up a little after they left to ensure all the little nooks and crannies are cleaned to my standard. I will schedule future cleanings with them again.

The company scheduled an appointment with us using an online system that provided us with a choice of dates/times. We chose a date and time and it was confirmed to me by email. Unfortunately, the company didn't have a record of our appointment and had to reschedule for another day. Then they were late that day. But it was fine. They identified $5000 worth of repairs to be done.
