American Professional Chimney & Masonry

Very pleased with the service call. Fireplace inserts have their own idiosyncracies when it comes to cleaning/repairs, and the technician (Bryan) seemed to thoroughly understand how to handle this differently - certainly better than prior cleaners who were also rated highly on Angie's List and Checkbook. Very professional, explained everything, and was conscientious in performing additional minor repairs as part of the cleaning. The charge for the damper slide repair was reasonable, particularly given that it was unknown how tricky the repair would be. Pleased that he could fix that in this visit.

Scheduled Big Deal for chimney cleaning/inspection through Angie's List. Provider responded/scheduled a day for service quickly and stated that they would reach out the day prior to schedule a service window, which they did. Provider called me day of to give more precise timing and subsequently showed up in a timely fashion (near the end of the originally estimated timeframe). Company sent 2 workers-- one climbed up on the roof of our single-story house and inspected the chimney (he quickly came down and said there were no problems) while the other came inside and swept the chimney from the interior. Chimney was swept bottom to top from the interior, even though I had pointed out the chimney's exterior cleanout (in the hopes of reducing possibility of dust coming inside). I assume this was done to save time. The workers, while courteous, were literally in and out and gone in 20 minutes. I guess the chimney is clean--they vacuumed and removed a couple dust pans full of debris from the hearth-- but didn't strike me as a particularly thorough cleaning (once up and down with the brush is all?). Perhaps they truly are that efficient, but I couldn't help but be left with the impression it was a bit of a cursory cleaning job. For an AL service-award winning company, that's a little disappointing.

Service was quick & easy. Reasonably priced. Staff came when they were scheduled. When bad weather made it impossible for a chimney inspection, staff was quick to call and reschedule.

Everything went smoothly and they were very professional.

I just bought the house and wanted to make sure the wood stove was safe to use this winter. The two service men who showed up were very conscientious and made sure everything was kept clean (including a water feature on my deck under the chimney). They also explained what they were doing. The only thing I wish the company could do differently is provide the window for the appointment earlier than the day before. It is hard to schedule work then.

Not only did they show up on time....almost unheard of these days, they were very good and professional. Even suggested that I soon get additional work done on my fireplace, no hurry, and took the time to give me a formal quote before they left for when I was ready. No pressure.

I have used this company in past for chimney relining and chimney sweeps. The promptness when using the Angie's list message system could be better. Neil Brown came out to do an estimate and I was contacted a few days later with the written estimate. I was told that a lintel needed to be replaced by Neil upon his initial inspection; but when it came time to do the job the quote was change to show the lintel on the invoice at $0 cost. So, to me that stated that they were going to replace one lintel included in the price of the other brick and mortar repair that was needed. I communicated several times with Marlo, who sent the quotes to me. Which the quotes had to be redone twice. Also, with Catherine who has always been quick to help. However, I communicated several times that I wanted the Angie's list discount. When I received the invoice the discount was not on the invoice and was told that they did not know what it was at that time...So, never received a discount on the job. The brick replacement that was done was good; however, the brick color match could have been better. Also, the mortar was a similar consistency, sandy; but the color was a bit off. Not terrible, but noticeable up close. The job was completed in one day and upon my inspection, found one additional brick that needed replacement. When I called to make the payment, I asked about the lintel replacement and was told that it wasn't needed that is why it was listed at $0 on the invoice. At that point, I didn't want to bring up the angle's list discount question again...The quality of the job was good and appreciate them getting the job scheduled and completed in a fairly timely manner. However, their needs to be better organization in getting the quotes right and communication consistent. Overall, I do feel the price was a bit high for the amount of work completed.

They listened keenly to my issue. Let me know that they could fix the issue. Explained clearly what needed to be done and completed work in a timely manner.

The servicemen were very punctual and professional. They arrived at the time they said and got straight to work. They did a very good job of cleaning the chimney and hearth inside the house. They checked the chimney on the roof and provided a detailed estimate of the work recommended for the chimney (complete with pictures). Overall I was very satisfied with the experience and will use this company in the future to repair the chimney.

That went really well. They were very thorough. They showed us places that needed improvement on the chimney. They are really good but not the best I have ever seen. They were very professional. I would recommend them. They were responsive. They were on time.

They did a nice job, would use them again.

Manuel and his co-worker worked for about an hour on my chimney and got an amazing amount of soot removed from the liner. They were very careful to keep everything clean and they communicated well together. They came well equipped with a 40 foot ladder, industrial vacuum and all the necessary brushes. We had this same chimney cleaned a couple of years ago by another company who spent all of 15 minutes doing the work and didn't even go on the roof. He forgot his ladder. And he charged me $200!!!! Needless, to say, we weren't about to call him again. But I'd recommend American Professional Chimney to anyone. The only negative I can say is they were later than originally scheduled but they called to say they would be late.

During the chimney inspection portion of my service, I heard scraping noises from my chimney, which I thought was suspicious for an inspection. Once the inspection was completed, they showed me pictures of what needed to be done. The pictures showed an area where I need to have an existing crown removed and a new crown installed. They also said I need to re-seal the corner of the chimney. I suspect they may have caused these issues during the inspection, as in 2011, I had the crown restructured by another company. The crown is under warranty with the original company, but if the damage was caused by American Professional Chimney & Masonry, then my warranty won't apply.

American Professional Chimney did a great job. We shopped around for over a year to find this vendor. When we signed on to Angie's list we got bids from several companies. Based on the conversation with the estimator answering the questions we have and the flexibility of options we went with this company. On arrival, the team that actually worked on the chimney were clean and pleasant, willing to answer any questions we had. In the end, the work was excellent and we are very pleased with our new chimney.

American Professional Chimney and Masonry is a great company; they are honest, skilled, and professional. In the past, another company, not American Professional Chimney and Masonry, installed my fireplace damper. The damper this other company installed was always difficult for me to open and close. Consequently, I did not use my fireplace, and heat would leave my house in the winter, through the chimney. The technician from American Professional Chimney and Masonry, Manny, fixed the damper cord so I could easily open and close the damper, and he very patiently worked with me until he knew I was comfortable working the cord and wouldn't have any problems. Manny was wonderful, and I cannot thank him enough! He was very professional, knowledgeable, and patient. Because of Manny, I will finally have a fire in my fireplace this winter, and my house will be warm!

They were on time, cleaned and inspected the chimney without leaving a mess. We will hire again.

They arrived on time and were very quick and thorough in the cleaning of the chimney. The gave me a breakdown of the condition of the chimney which is over 60 years old. There estimates for the repair where reasonable, but more than I want to spend currently. So the chimney will not be used for now.

Very courteous. Extremely careful of furnishings.

Setting up the appointment was easy. They are very responsive and helpful. The guys were prompt and quick. They even offered to take off their shoes in our new home. They also laid down coverings for the floors surrounding the fireplace to help keep the place clean.

It was mediocre. The people were very nice, they came when they said they would, however we had some lack of clarity in terms of the scope of things that they communicated in their quote was not actually what they intended to do. Their quote was very specific about the type or the color of the mortar to be used on the chimney and it turned out to be different color when they finished it.

Once they arrived, they were quick to start the service and cleaned chimney and cleaned up after themselves.

The guys who did the work were very thorough and professional. They spent a long time cleaning one of our two chimneys because it hadn't been cleaned properly in a long time. The house is almost 100 years old and the inspection they performed uncovered some serious issues with one of our chimneys that need to be fixed asap (the guys got up on a ladder to inspect our chimneys and seemed to do a very thorough job). They took photos of the problem areas and emailed them to me upon request so that I could share them with my husband. They also sent me a proposal for the work that needs to be done within a couple days. Every one I dealt with at the company was nice, responsive and professional.

The actual work was great, and a great deal. However, during the inspection the person suggested all this work that didn't actually need to be done (fortunately the workmen who came to perform the work clarified that some of the suggested repairs were not necessary).

I don't know how to tell how good a job he did but he was punctual and professional.
