It went very well. I was provided a 30 minute time frame the day before. They were here on time and went right to work. They were quick and efficient. They provided me detail information and said that there were only two very minor items that needed attention with the stacks on the roof. He explained how I could take care of the items myself and even showed me a picture to help clarify what needed to be done. I am very grateful and pleased with American Professional Chimney & Masonry.

Said the two fireplaces and the chimney looked good, but concrete work was needed at the top of the chimney. Gave an estimate for that work on the spot. It has been scheduled.

The eventual costs seem expensive but the cleaning was well done and reasonable

Last month I purchased a chimney sweep/clean from American Professional Chimney. After a complicated scheduling process, I got on their calendar. The window of time for their arrival ended at 5pm. They pulled up a few minutes after that. They proceeded to do what I thought was clean and inspect the chimney. Then they promptly told me my fireplace wasn't safe to use unless I paid for nearly $4500 in repairs and services from them. Thursday, I called and had a second company (personally referred to me, not via Angie's List) come out for a second quote. Within moments of looking at the chimney they said it hadn't been cleaned. Less than 10 minutes later they'd halfway filled a bucket with leaves, a WHOLE SQUIRREL, and A WHOLE BIRD, and a squirrel foot as well. $150 later, and after cleaning the chimney and inspecting the chimney, they looked at the quote from the first company and told me that I didn't need any of that and that the other company just wanted to make money off of me. I was disgusted and disappointed and grossed out. I have three small kids and I can't imagine what it would have been like - let alone smelled like - had I actually used the fireplace with those animals in there. This is the second Angie's List deal that hasn't worked out for me. I had high hopes that AL would be my go-to resource to get my new home up to par. It's not looking good. It sucks I had to pay more money to have done what I'd already paid for. But it really sucks that AL isn't coming through for me.

TERRIBLE. Read the previous paragraph. I want my money back. If this is what i get from using Angie's List, buyer beware

What a racket! These guys swept and "inspected" two fireplaces and chimneys in less than ten minutes (and that included set up and tear down). They were polite enough but when I asked what they saw up there or if they had any recommendations, the lead chimney sweep said, "looks ok, the upstairs fireplace is better." What the heck does that mean? Then they literally ran out the door and presumably on to their next job. This was my first experience using Angie's List and it was very disappointing. These individuals were probably the least thorough chimney sweeps of all time, and to say an inspection was included was a joke. I believe the lead guy did look up there with a flashlight for approximately 2 seconds--so if you believe that is an inspection, this company could be ok for you. I'm perplexed as to why they received so many positive reviews. On the positive side, the communication from the office was good.

I decided to go with American Professional Chimney & Masonry, Inc. based on the positive reviews on Angie?s list and price, which was close to what I was quoted during the home inspection process. Howard showed up earlier then the scheduled time to provide the estimate. He did a thorough job examining the chimneys and provided the most detailed estimate than any other company. Edgar and Marvin showed up during the scheduled timeframe to begin the work. They were polite, professional, and immediately got to work. I was initially told the job would take a few days. When I asked Edgar he said the job would take a little longer. It ended up taking 7 days, which was fine since I?d rather have the job be done correctly, not rushed. Edgar showed me pictures of the work as they progressed. On the final day Edgar took the time to show me how to work the new dampers. The property and home were neat and clean when the job was complete. Leslie & Catherine, who work in the office, were also extremely polite & professional during the entire process. Both of them were a pleasure to talk with on the phone. I was very satisfied with the entire experience from start to finish!

There was a 2 man crew with the chimney brushes and a heavy duty vac. They had laid down some covering on the hearth to ensure there wasn't going to be any messes on the carpet beyond the fireplace. They were so quick and clean with everything, 10 minutes total! Love it, highly recommend :).

It was fine. They honored their "Big Deal" price. I wish they had a camera to look up the chimney.

They arrived on time despite a mix-up with the address (my error). The two techs were very nice and professional. They were careful to cover the work area in front of the chimney before starting the cleaning process (the house has brand new carpet so this was greatly appreciated). Everything was cleaned up before they left. They gave a recommendation and estimate for additional work that should be done to the chimney (the house is 28 years old) but there was absolutely no pressure for an upsell or to schedule right away for additional work!! I will contact them when I'm ready to have the additional repairs done to the chimney.

Honest to pete, I don't know where to begin. We are replacing a dead furnace and needed to have the vent cleaned out ASAP, and the scheduler was kind enough to fit us in before the furnace installation (and it was wonderful to get a human on the phone, rather than voice mail!). Justin and Walter arrived ahead of schedule and after an inspection, walked me through the damage to the terra cotta liner. The photos taken from the roof helped me understand what he was talking about, and while he was thorough, there wasn't any sense of hard sell. Justin gave me a good estimate for the work, and Dave (the owner) offered to come that same evening to get the liner taken care of before the furnace was installed. It's now 11:00 p.m. and the three of them are just finishing up: depsite the late hour, they're still friendly and professional. THe work was well done, and they are obviously proud of what they do. I can't recommend them enough, and would happily have them back. UPDATE TO REVIEW: I forgot add this once our furnace was installed, but one of the furnace guys came upstairs to ask me who did our chimney work. I told them, and he (a man of few words) replied, "they did some good work, there."

Easy to schedule and clean everything well. Also provided no pressure quote on some miscellaneous items they found on the chimney itself. Only down side is the higher cost of the cleaning just because of a wood stove involved.

The company arrived early to my home before I was even there and when I arrived, indicated they had already been on the roof doing something, although they couldn't tell me what. I didn't really appreciate that since I wasn't around and my house is alarmed. But whatever, do what you need to do I guess. I let them into my house, they were considerate and put a moving mat down on the floor in front of my fireplace and brought in some type of vacuum. Never saw a brush or anything that a layperson might deem necessary for cleaning but again whatever, you are the experts. I had started a phone call which lasted for 4:28 seconds (I remember looking down at my phone when I finished) exactly when they started working. When I got off the call they were already done, packing up, and telling me that they needed to go prepare an estimate for all the additional work that needs to be done. Now I admit, I know nothing about the chimney cleaning process but I think it's safe to say it takes longer than 4:28 to properly clean a chimney. I am not sure I even recall hearing the vacuum or seeing any bit of soot coming out. Maybe I just had the cleanest chimney ever. The lead worker was then gone for about 15 minutes and when he came back I had a 2-page estimate for $3800 in additional work for my chimney. That part seemed very detailed and thorough, unlike the cleaning. All in all, they were at my home for 27 minutes total including the 15 minutes to prepare the estimate. I asked repeatedly if my chimney was clean and he assured me that it was, but "you need to do all this other stuff" which i find a bit dubious since I just purchased it a year ago and the chimney had been inspected and cleared for use. Regardless they were all about leaving as soon as possible once the estimate was handed off and kept badgering me to call and schedule the thousands of dollars of work. No thanks. Again, they may have done a great job of cleaning but without explaining what work was done, it's hard to know. I figured this was the typical phishing offer with the upsell on the other end but had hoped because it was through Angie's list, it would be legit. Maybe you will have a different experience but mine was pretty bad. I would like to disclose that I tried to call the company to discuss this before posting but was hung up on once and the other time, reached a person who told me someone would call me back but not shockingly, no one never did.

It went well. They provided me with all the details including photographs to show the condition of the chimney. I also received recommendations that were practical and affordable.

The two gentlemen that did the cleaning were wonderful. The woman I spoke to on the phone regarding scheduling was annoyed when she realized that the address provided by Angie's List was not the address that the work needed to be done at. She had never asked where the work would be done (as other service providers I have hired through Angie's List have). She was able to schedule me on the same day she originally had with the other address, though, which was greatly appreciated.

They were much more careful and thorough in their cleaning and inspection than previous sweeps we have used. They took a good deal of time. The repairs look great, and match well. They put our fireplace screen back and secured it much better than the original installers, Bromwell's in Falls Church, who we had asked repeatedly to fix, but had not. We feel as though they actually know what they are doing.

It was great. In the process, they reccomends some work and quoted us a price. I called a second company in to give me a 2nd opinion. The 2nd company, complimented the work they had done and said they could not beat the price. I will be going back to them for my chimney repairs.

Technicians arrived late due to traffic, but they called and let me know. They explained what they would do and performed their cleaning and inspection quickly and efficiently. They were able to show me photographs and a detailed explanation of the problems inside the chimney, with on the spot pricing for repairs.

We had a voicemail message informing us that our initial appointment could not be fulfilled due to weather. I called back the next morning to reschedule. I felt the representative that answered the phone was a little rude (and rushing me), but none, the less, I rescheduled the appointment for 10/12/15 at 10:00 am. The service team showed up at exactly 10:00 am. This was a great first impression as I am typically used to a "window of time" in which servicemen/women would show up. They put down protection in front of the fireplace and performed a very thorough cleaning. They also inspected the very top of the chimney and provided recommendations and cost(s) associated with the recommendation. We plan to use this company each year for the annual cleanings.

They budgeted for a 2 day chimney reconstruct and knocked it out in 1 day. They hustled from the minute they arrived at my home. Highly recommend them.

I was very pleased with American Professional Chimney and Masonry. They were very easy to work with in scheduling and were diligent about confirming our appointment. The guys who came to perform the work were exceptional: right on time, professional, courteous, and efficient. They walked us through the process, maintenance for our chimney, and took great care in showing us how to use and maintain our fireplace (it's a gas fireplace which neither my husband nor I have ever used). They checked the chimney and also took the time to confirm the location and operation of our gas furnace, not to mention provide advice on how to ensure good maintenance of the system. We would absolutely use them again and would highly recommend them to others.

We were quite pleased with the work which included drilling , sanding and adding a new waterproof surface to the outer chimney. There were other details added and everything appears to be working fine. We would certainly hire him again

American Professional Chimney & Masonry arrived 1/2 hour ahead schedule and provided the inspection and cleaning service purchased. APCM provided the service within the timeframe planned. The inspector was efficient and his team was courteous. The inspection indicated the chimney to be dangerous for a fire and the need for extensive work with a new flue system estimated at more than $3,000. A second inspection was sought to confirm this recommendation, considering the cost of the service recommended. The second vendor did not indicate the same finding in its inspection. Further analysis will be sought to determine a course of action.
