American Professional Chimney & Masonry

We bought our house two years ago and the the main fire place damper was broken in an open state. During the winter the family room was always freezing. I finally got around to finding a reputable business to replace the damper and also clean the chimney this winter. The team that did my work was excellent. The team lead was Manuel. They were very professional guys (And also honest -- someone in my house left some cash on the fireplace mantle without my knowledge. Manuel and his team did the work and the cash was still there when they left. Yeah, no one should steal from you, but these days you never know what you're going to get. It's worth acknowledging that). The only complaint I have about APCM is they could probably do a little bit better with their scheduling service. Our first appointment was cancelled because of rain (totally understandable). It was rescheduled with the caveat that if it rained it would be cancelled again. During the second appointment, it rained off and on, so I wasn't sure if they were going to come out or not (and they didn't). But, no one from APCM called to tell me they weren't coming. So, I ended up hanging around all day just in case they were going to honor the appointment. I also called and left a message to reschedule again, but no one called me back. Finally, got this third appointment and got the work done which I'm very happy with. So, I would say, scheduling and customer service is something they should work on. But, other than that, I plan on hiring these guys again to do more work in the future.

Service was great. Howard has been here once before and he remembered. The team arrived promptly at 8:30 AM when they said they would.

Chimney Sweep was performed well, as was the clean up and the service overall. My only complaint is that they identified a problem with my chimney (it needed a liner replacement), yet they went ahead and performed the cleaning prior to discussing the problem with me. As a result, they cleaned a chimney that was necessary to replace. Would have preferred not to clean something that was going to be torn out and replaced.

Just OK - they arrived more than one hr late (the main office did call to warn us, but only at the very last minute when we already expected them to have arrived). One was clearly a pro, the other a newbie who messed up, caused a big mess, and delayed what should have been a quick job (possibly why they were running late from the last appointment). Accidents can happen and there wasn't anything that the crew didn't make right/clean up. But still.

The techs who came to do work were prompt and professional. Thoroughly cleaned fireplace, stack, left no mess - and even came back to repair damper that was damaged in cleaning at no additional cost to us.

Team was on time, quick, and worked well to clean our chimney.

This service went very well. They did a thorough check of the chimney. Answered all of my questions. Gave me a quote for repairs. Very pleased with service.

Although I had not been on the roof to inspect the gutters before they arrived, I knew they were very dirty because there was things growing out of them since they had not been cleaned since we moved in over a year ago. They arrived in a timely manner, however, they were done in less than 20 minutes!! No way! I knew something wasn't right. I even asked the gentlemen if they had really cleaned them properly .. to which he replied yes. Just one week later, I requested my yard maintenance guys check the gutters to see how they looked. He told me they me they were very dirty, with a great deal of mud still packed in them. So I had them cleaned again. This company NEVER has to concern itself with returning to my home for any reason. Once a company takes advantage of me, I'm done.

it went well. They did the cleaning as needed along with estimate on repairing the chimney but they estimate seemed higher then was needed and other estimates. The person answering the phone seemed a little abrupt then what I was expecting.

It went poorly since the company never called me to schedule the work despite having committed to do so.

I was surprised the workers showed up 20 mins earlier that my scheduled time, which was great because I was able to on about my day sooner than I thought. The workers introduced themselves prior to entering our home and promptly began bringing in their cleaning equipment, and proceed to work. It took them no more than 15-20 mins to complete the job. To add, one of the two workers inspected our chimney to let us know it was in good condition. FYI...I purchased an Angie's List deal. Lastly, after the work was completed, we looked to see how cleaned the chimney was and we were able to look straight through the chimney (basically, they cleaned it very well). To sum up, we would recommended them for their professionalism (the scheduler and workers), punctuality, and actual worked performed.

They arrived about an hour late. They were fast & efficient once they arrived.

Arrived on time, called 5 minutes prior to let me know he was arriving soon. Two workers showed up, both polite and courteous and started working immediately. My chimney apparently needs a good deal of repairs so they provided me a written estimate that is good for 30 days. He encouraged me to get additional quotes to be sure of the price and the work, but that they would be happy to discuss options once I decide if the work is needed. Overall very helpful and am currently pricing out other options to ensure I get the best deal, but they will be a big part of my decision.

Provider was prompt and courteous, work was well done.

after the first cleaning, I opened the damper and all these ashes fell out. i called the company and they sent another crew and they cleaned both fireplaces again (they got out another bucket of ashes out for each fireplace).

The technician showed up on time as promised and preformed the agreed upon cleaning and inspection.

Another (to remain nameless) company came out and did an assessment per my request for a chimney liner. They told me that not only was my chimney dangerous, but that there were two other related trouble spots that I did not ask them to check. I called American Professional for a second opinion and they came out, did the assessment and told me everything was fine. The tech even took the time for a quick fireplace tutorial and then we lit a cheery fire to test it out. These folks are a class act, and I highly recommend them for their honesty and responsiveness!

This is a tough review. We had a LOT of problems getting them to come out. When they didn't show per the scheduled time, we called the office contact we had, who said that they called and left a message, but didn't hear back so didn't come out. We verified the number was slightly wrong and fixed it. The office contact said they will fit us in over the weekend and told us she'd call us back. The next day rolls around and since we didn't hear from her, we called her again. We reminded her of the scenario and she again said she'd have someone come out that weekend and she'd call us back. This happened a few times. Finally one morning, they did show up (we didn't know they were coming right then), we did learn later that they called and left us a message that they were on the way 30 minutes earlier, luckily we were home. The team that came out were very good. They explained what they were doing, got to work. He cleaned a few leaves out of the chimney, went on top of the house to make sure all was good there too. He recommended a minor repair, but said it could wait a year and wasn't serious. They were at the house maybe 30 minutes total. He also said there was no charge for the cleaning and that they would refund part of the 119 paid. He also said since he had gotten the call, he didn't have the paperwork and didn't have anything to leave us for the inspection. He advised us to call the office and that they could e-mail it. We tried the office and asked 2x for the e-mail so we could show the inspector, we did finally get something that was able to get the inspector/plumber happy. I have no expectations that we will ever see the refund. So good, fair work. Difficult office team. ***Update*** We received a refund of $44 of the price paid, plus the paperwork within a day of the review, which was clearly done before the review was created. I have adjusted the review accordingly, as I didn't have to continue to hound them for the refund.

The repairs that the crew did do were adequate. However, I also contracted to have a stainless steel cap installed in the chimney and they arrived without the part. I could not stay home another day and just had them put the old one back. I was particularly annoyed because the original estimate was added wrong (in their favor) and the estimate included $300 for scaffolding which was not used. If I had not spotted theses deficiencies, I would have most likely been charged anyway. The office manager did not give me an argument when I asked to have the costs reduced. Finally, when leaving, the crew drove their truck off the driveway creating a huge rut in my lawn. Just careless. The crew did not stop to apologize or offer to repair the damage.

They installed the cap and inspected the chimney per the coupon i purchased. They gave me an estimation of over 10,000 to repair the chimney which is not a reasonable amount of money for what they were proposing. The crew they sent out also was being called by the main office repeatedly while he was speaking with me about the repairs and he was complaining about it to me. It came off a bit unprofessional.

It was fine. They were here and they gave us some recommendations. It was good. They were here in a day or two.

They showed up on time and even on a Sunday which helped us as we are busying during the week. They taught us about our fireplace and made al the appropriate inspections.

Work went very quickly, and they kept us posted on every step.
