American Professional Chimney & Masonry

I wasn't all that impressed. They did replace the cap, and Inspected the chimney (looked up the chimney through the fireplace). They said my issue was that we had a 6" flew pipe and needed to replace it with an 8". I'm not sure how that would help things because I never use the fireplace anyway and wanted a new cap to keep water from getting, but that was their recommendation to fix the issue.

The guys showed up on time and were efficient and thorough. They inspected the chimney and found some things that are in need of repair and wrote up an estimate. The only challenge for me is the scheduling process. They call less than 24 hours in advance to give you a window of what time the technicians will arrive. That's probably fine for most, but I have a job that requires me to have a little more notice due to constant meetings and travel. I don't have the luxury of waiting by the phone for them to call and confirm that I'll be available, so that policy naturally provides a challenge for me. Other than that, the company is great and as they've been successful, I'm sure my situation is the exception, not the rule.

It went very well. The two technicians were right on time. The explained what they were going to do. They protected the carpets, did the job promptly, and cleaned up after themselves. They provided me with a report of the inspection, including photographs.

Very nice young men...Brian and Kevin. They worked hard and left my room better then when they came. VERY VERY pleased! I would HIGHLY recommend these young men!

The scheduling went smoothly and the workers arrived on time. Everyone was helpful, friendly, and professional.

It worked fine. They gave me a recommendation for a much more expensive work but I anticipated they would do that.

Contractor showed up when expected and was very friendly. Explained what they were doing and gave details of how to maintain the fireplace.

The arrived a little early, fine by me. Removed shoes without asking. They thoroughly cleaned the chimney with no dust or blow back in the house. Excellent job.

All went well but there was a mix up in the billing. I had paid by credit card in advance when I ordered the service through Angie's List but apparently the technician was not told the bill was paid and insisted that my Son pay again the day of service. I contacted American Professional Chimney & Masonry to let them know what happened and they said they would refund my card. I told them to send my Son's check back to him because this was a gift to him from me. It took about a week for him to get his check back but they did respond. In order to get the deal that I got on this service, I had to pay up-front when I ordered the service through Angie's List. I think that the service providers need to be aware that the service was ordered through Angie's List and make sure that the customer's are not billed twice.

Arrived within stated 30 minute window. In and out. Quick and clean. The workers were polite and friendly.

Very well. Told us of some chimney repair needs that seemed reasonable, and gave us an estimate. But no high pressure.

Courteous, punctual and professional. They repaired the relevant issues and provided advice regarding the re-finishing of the fire place chimney (which we ultimately didn't do).

They arrived around the expected time. They parked in the middle of my 2 car driveway which prevented my husband from getting in and out. When asked, their response was "people don't usually come and go while we are here." They didn't wear booties so they tracked dirt through my house. This was especially disturbing because we don't wear shoes in our house and have young kids. It was also annoying because they clean chimneys so they have soot and roof stuff on their shoes. The main guy was not helpful in explaining the service or what was completed. They also removed the insulation but dididn't tell me so I have no clue if I should be replacing it or what it looks like/measurements if I do. They provided an estimate to repair my chimney and install a flue. $300 to fix a crack in some bricks. I brought a second company out and the guy said I could repair it myself for less than $10. Would never recommend them.

That was a total waste. They came back with a quote that was ridiculous. We had to pay them $99 for them to give us a ridiculous quote. We thought it was a scam. The inspection didn't produce anything other than them saying that they wanted us to pay a lot more money. It was not a valuable service. The quote was $6000. I remember we were dissatisfied with them.

I called American Professional Chimney a day or 2 before "Snowzilla," concerned that I'd lose power and have to rely on my chimneys for warmth, so I wanted to be sure that they were good to go. (I recently purchased my home.) Catherine, the manager, answered the phone, and could not have been more pleasant -- I enjoyed chatting with her, and learned she knew my neighborhood well. She assured me that though they were busy with similar calls, they'd squeeze me in before the storm, so I purchased the deal for one chimney. (I wasn't sure if I needed them both cleaned, but she said I could add the second when they arrived, which I did -- the price on this review reflects the total.) The team arrived a few minutes early and got right to work. Nice guys, and all business. One gentleman began work on the fireplace, while the other climbed on the roof to inspect. He returned with photographs and explained his findings to me -- everything looked fine and there was no attempt to upsell me on anything. He also made sure that I understood how to open and close my flue (tricky and heavy in my old row house), and had me practice a couple of times. I appreciated that. I will certainly call APC the next time my chimneys or fireplaces require any service. Catherine is a real gem, and while my power stayed on and I haven't yet used my fireplaces, I was very pleased with their customer service and the work performed.

The cleaning was fast and efficient and there was no mess left behind. Suggested repairs and their relative importance were explained in detail. Best of all, there was no pressure to commit to follow up services.

The cleaning went fine. The technician showed up promptly and walked through what was going to happen. He unfortunately gave us an expense list of items that need fixed. I'm not sure how much of this is the company trying to sell expense chimney upgrades and how much is a legitimate concern. Have not yet received a second assessment.

The two gentlemen was on time and very professional. This was a couple of years ago. I do not remember the cost. Or the date this was performed.
