Fantastic job! Very professional company and staff. They started by contacting me right away to set up a date for the service -- with a wide variety of possible dates, all very close to the date I purchased the service. During that call, the staff member who assisted me was extremely professional, polite and helpful. The day before the service, the company called to give me a 1-hour window for when the staff would arrive on the day of service. The staff arrived during that window. (It was lovely to have them arrive when I was told that they would. It was great that I didn't need to wait and wait and wait for them to arrive!) And that's when things got even better. The staff were extremely pleasant, competent and efficient. They started by covering the carpet in front of the fireplace with a large piece of canvas, and then they carefully and thoroughly cleaned the ashes from the fireplace and cleaned the chimney flue. Then they went outside to inspect the top of the chimney. I could tell, by the way they described the various steps that I had taken over the years to make the chimney of my over 50-year-old house up-to-date and safe that the staff had very carefully inspected the fireplace and chimney. In addition to being extremely pleasant and professional, but the staff clearly "knew their stuff" -- and liked what they did for a living. It was refreshing to see staff who were happy with their line of work. As people who know me know, I'm a very frugal person. Despite that, I will have this company do my chimney cleaning from now on, even if there isn't an Angie's list deal!!

The initial interaction was fine. The scheduling was a bit complicated but nothing too significant. The team that came to the house was lovely and thoroughly explained their findings--which is appropriate given the estimate for additional work was several thousand dollars. Their vacuum broke while cleaning the basement fireplace but I was contacted to schedule a new cleaning--which I scheduled for the same time as the inspection described below. One of the items needed was a video inspection which was made out to be of utmost importance so I scheduled it the next week. I made the appointment on a Friday and was told I would get a call the day before the appointment with a more specific time (I wasn't sure why I didn't get a specific time immediately since I was to be the inspectors first appointment of the day). Just before 4pm on Monday I received a call saying the tech would arrive between 9:30-10am, but closer to the 9:30a side since I'm the first appointment. Great. I arranged my work schedule to accommodate the appointment. At 9:44am the technician called to tell me he was running late and would arrive closer to 11am. I asked how that could be since I was the first appointment of the day. He told me the company had a safety meeting that morning and the person scheduling appointments must have forgotten about the meeting. I didn't have time to wait around for more than another hour for the person to arrive (and then who knows how long to do the work) so I told him not to come. I completely understand that mistakes are made and scheduling can get confused. But what I don't understand is why no one called me when the error was realized. Surely the inspector checked his schedule some time before calling me? Someone in the office realized he was still there when he should have been gone for an appointment more than an hour away? I was told my chimney needs thousands of dollars in repair work yet the company telling me I need all this work can't do something as simple as appropriately schedule an appointment for further inspection (an inspection that I was told is critical to the safety of my home). I am left struggling with the honesty of the estimate and just how critical this work really is.

The office was super responsive and sent someone out to inspect the chimney the same day I called, which I appreciated since we didn't have much time. Following an inspection and cleaning, we scheduled the repairs for the following week. The chimney top was rebuilt, 10-12 courses of brick. The existing damper was removed and a new top sealing damper/raincap combination was added to the chimney. In the smoke chamber and behind the lintel insulated cement was added to seal the core bricks and smooth the walls to seal holes. The crew arrived on time and worked efficiently. We gladly recommend this company to others. Cost for all, including cleaning and initial inspection: $2,850

It went very well! Brian and Kevin came out to assess the situation and give me an estimate. It appeared we had to re-do the repair from years ago plus some (lesson learned, hire the contractor directly and do not use the firm the landscape architects pick!). It turned out the brick previously used brick was very porous and we were starting to see the effects of that in our basement below. So now the problem is solved. Edgar and Marvin came out and did an exceptional job rebuilding our chimney and putting in a new liner, a small door off the back to bring it to code, etc. Plus a water repellent on the chimney to keep things safe going forward. We can finally get our gas logs installed - yay! The other chimney was dug out and removed. We now feel safer with that chimney out of the way so we can re-do our gutter work and more so it completely covers the house instead of the gaps that previously existed. The team all the way through the repairs were professional, communicated with me regularly and were extremely neat with all of their work. And they did an amazing job. Our new chimney is a thing of beauty. Edgar and Marvin are artists!

We first had a good experience with American Professional Chimney and Masonry when they repaired our chimney in 2015. This job was also of similar quality. Abel and his crew did a really nice job of fixing and patching two of our retaining walls and front steps, getting most of the many layers of paint off an old concrete retaining wall, and painting it. We love the color of our "new" back wall in the garden, and look forward to working with American Professional Chimney and Masonry again.

They not only cleaned the chimney, but fixed a leak for free. They noticed that there was water leaking from the chimney. So they even caulked around the flashing to fix the leak. They did a great job! Thank you!

It was fine. I think they were late. They got the job done quickly. We liked that. We are still waiting a second estimate for repairs that they deemed were necessary so I can't say anything else beyond the fact that they did it quickly.

CUSTOMER SERVICE EXEMPLARY! Called the office and explained i was going to buy an Angie's list coupon that I wanted to use for chimney repair. Office woman said let's get someone out FIRST and do an estimate and then if you want to move ahead at that point buy the angie's list coupon! I was not obligated to them that way!!! VERY PROFESSIONAL ESTIMATORS! The gentlemen they sent were punctual and explained every detail of what they were suggesting be done to the chimney so that I had a very clear understanding. Then i bought my angie's list coupon and called to make an appointment for the work. VERY PROFESSIONAL WORKERS! The gentlemen they sent to do the work were, likewise, very punctual. They set up scaffolding and took care of the shoulder work and tuckpointing but had to break down early because of thunderstorms. They were very clear that the work on the crown would get done ASAP and that once the ENTIRE project was completed i would then pay. I received a follow up call from the office re-confirming that another crew would be out in a couple of days to complete the project...and true to their word the job was completed as promised. EVERY STEP OF MY EXPERIENCE with American Professional Chimney & Masonry, Inc. was incredibly positive!! The professionalism of everyone from the office worker to the field worker was exemplary!!! I would whole-heartedly recommend them to anyone!!

The technicians showed up on time and worked steadily. My husband noticed a couple of bricks in the siding were askew, so he asked them to straighten those bricks, which they did. There were no other issues that I know of. We are not able to test the chimney with the new liner, but I have faith that it will work properly when the time comes.

They did an outstanding job. When unexpected things came up they came up with some solutions for a great price and the fireplace looks even better than I thought it would when they recreated the walls of the fireplace and had to lay new firebrick. When it rained everyday for 3 weeks they kept calling and rescheduling till we finally got nice weather to finish the outside. I would highly recommend them to any of my friends. Prices were great for the amount of work that they did. The finished product looks great. Thank you!

They told us that there was no problem with the fireplace after performing the service, which lasted only about 15 minutes, but smoke is still continuing to come into the house. We've tried reaching out to them to follow-up and have received no response.

Special thanks to Marlo and Catherine for knowing immediately what needed doing and providing faultless and friendly service. Also, the craftsmen doing the work did an excellent job. The reworked chimney passed Fairfax County inspection and our house now looks finished and MUCH more attractive. I highly recommend American Professional Chimney.

I purchased it for my personal home, that went fine, that was last October. However, I recently purchased it for a friend of mine who would use it for her rental property and it didn't go so well. It was unclear, so she actually had two fireplaces in her property and it wasn't clear in the Deal, how that was supposed to be covered. They were responsive but other than that they performed the duties on one fireplace. Like I said, it wasn't clear in the bill about how they would take care of the second fireplace and then when I reached out to them, they said, oh no it's only for one fireplace and we just kind of left it like that. The service that I experienced personally at our home was great. They were very timely, very good about giving recommendations and things of that nature. I experienced them twice. It was just the $99 for the service.

It was good. They gave us a nice idea of what we could do to improve our chimney. We are still considering their suggestions because they were expensive, but I trusted their opinion.

Fantastic service! the guys called to ask if they could come a few minutes earlier than expected (absolutely!) and were so professional. Turns out they had done work in my townhouse community before, so they were familiar with the setup. Great experience!

Chimney sweeps arrived and were polite and efficient. Provided cell phone pictures of chimney issues and suggestions for repairs. Spoke with main office about estimate for future work and received written proposal. Main office very thorough and explained the suggested repairs in great detail. Estimate of repair work a little higher than other chimney sweeps in the area.

He wanted like $10,000. It as a completely outrageous price. I did not take the repair they recommended. I certainly will not call them again.

It was okay but they over-exaggerated their repair cost on that. Basically the chimney sweep was just an entry for them to upsell everything out. They did the job well. They did perform it. They're in contact with me quickly. They should not do so much upselling and just coming out to do what you're there for. They're the cheapest one there.

Where do I start?! I contacted American Professional Chimney to ask for an estimate to do work on our chimney -- we had noticed several bricks were loose from the mortar at the "shoulder" of the chimney. They came our two days later -- on a Saturday. The crew was extremely nice and professional, and showed us photos of the top of the chimney (which we would never have seen). The crown was cracked, and there was a crack in the mortar all the way around the chimney about 8' from the top, in addition to the loose bricks we had seen closer to the ground. They gave us an estimate for the work which included an Angies' List discount (thank you very much!) -- and we accepted the proposal. The crew came back the next day to start the work, but because we had cleaning of our deck also going on, they didn't want to grind out the mortar and chance it falling onto the deck -- they returned the next day and did the grinding out of old mortar and tuck pointing the bricks. We wanted to power wash the chimney before the waterproofing, so we set up a date two weeks later to apply the water repellant (to allow the bricks and mortar to thoroughly dry). We were told that the weather also needed to cooperate -- we needed no rain the day before, day of and day after the water repellant was applied! Fortunately for us, the crew arrived today to apply the water repellant. As we requested, they put plastic over the windows on that side of the house to protect them. When they finished, they cleaned the area up like nothing had gone on ... except that something HAD gone on -- a terrific job by a terrific crew from a terrific company. Honestly, from the first contact to the finished job, American Professional Chimney was just wonderful. They were extremely careful about protecting our landscaping around the chimney; they were on time each time they arrived; they were knowledgeable about their job and explained everything to us. I could not be happier and would highly recommend this company if you need someone to do work on your chimney or masonry. They are aptly named -- PROFESSIONAL!

We were not pleased with the service mainly because we asked them to clean the chimney and we were trying to use them as an alternate, and they were done in 15 minutes, and that is not possible. They were finished in a flash. I haven't done it in 30 years, and I know it isn't that dirty, but it can't be done in 15 minutes. I know how much I usually pay, so it was cost effective, but the price was good if the work was done. I thought they were very responsive, and they were on time. They were good. I wouldn't use them again, not for what I had them do. My son dealt directly with them. I have one company do it all the time, and my son wanted to use them.
