American Professional Chimney & Masonry

The company was very professional. The employees showed up on time, and they called ahead of time to give their ETA. One of them went on the roof to check the chimney cap and exterior. The other one started sweeping the chimney right away. They pointed out things to watch (some rusting on the cap, a crack in the cement base of the fireplace), but they were very honest and didn't use scare tactics to try to pressure us into fixing these things immediately. We had a different company come to our house 3 years ago to do an inspection and sweep, and they deemed our chimney "clean", they didn't go on the roof and inspect the exterior, and they didn't even clean up the few ashes we had in the fireplace from a recent fire! But we had to pay them $89. On the other hand, our experience with American Professional Chimney & Masonry was the opposite. They inspected everything, they cleaned everything, and they were extremely professional and efficient. We will definitely use them again!

This is our second time using this company. They are very prompt and communicative. They gave us a competitive quote after doing a thorough review of our chimneys. The work was done on time and at price quoted. It took three days. The workers cleaned up well each day. It was a big job to remove the old liner, reline, and re insulate. The picture is of when they had knocked out all the terra-cotta liner, which shows what a big job it was.

The company was responsive in switching the chimney cleaning that I bought for $99 to chimney inspection on two connected chimneys (one upstairs, one downstairs). The workers were prompt and tried to explain the troubles they saw to my home inspector and realtor, but said that the owner would have to follow up to explain everything. I never received a follow up call or report. So while I got a good idea of what was going on because my home inspector seemed to understand what the workers were describing, I never got anything definitive either written or orally thereafter.

The cleaning went well, they cleaned the wood stove and flue coming out of the wood stove. Communication was an issue as English was not the workers primary language. It was very difficult to understand their inspection results.

They arrived on time, were very friendly and gave us a very detailed write up explaining what needed to be done immediately and what could wait. We had some work done immediately and will have the remainder done next year. These guys were awesome!

We hired them for a chimney sweep, which they did efficiently. They were polite and professional. They recommended capping our chimney to protect the structure (explained it without being pushy), which we agreed to do. When we requested photos, they were happy to oblige. No complaints.

The team (2) was on time, efficient, and pleasant. They took care of both chimneys and were clean and neat in the process. They also (described as part of the planned service) checked out chimneys internally and climbed on the roof to assess the chimneys and intersections with the roof. They identified several areas needing work, took pictures, and nicely texted them to me. The office then sent me a quote for the additional repair work. We haven't taken further action yet.

We did have an issue - although I needed only the interior inspection/cleaning (I'm in a condo building and they take care of the chimney roof inspections part) they still canceled on me because it was raining at their office location (which was several miles from my condo, where it was not raining.) And didn't give me notice that their folks weren't coming - I found out when I called after waiting 30 minutes at a condo I rent and left my work to give them access to. However - although I was frustrated by this, they immediately rescheduled for the next day when it was convenient for me and their crew was quick, thorough and efficient - based on the work performance I would rehire, but just be aware that inclement weather can make them unreliable.

Every interaction with the staff of American Professional Chimney & Masonry was outstanding, from the first call, to the free home visit to provide an estimate, to scheduling the work, to having the work done, to paying the invoice. In particular, I appreciated how they were able to rearrange their schedule to replace my chimney the next day since we were without hot water and heat until the work could be completed. The team who actually did the work were efficient and communicated exactly what they were doing. And they even made sure to leave my house as clean as possible after they were done.

I am very pleased with the service provided! They went out of their way to accommodate me running late for the appointment time. That was a huge courtesy! Thank you! The only thing I would mention to other Angie's list users is to read the offer/service in full. It was not apparent that the service was only for fireplaces- not wood stoves. I had to pay more than the offer on A.L. It wasn't clear to me until after I purchased.

I had never used the fireplace (in 40+ years) but wanted to make sure it is operational. Another company had already given it a clean bill of health, but I wanted a second opinion. The two opinions are diametrical to each other. One company assessed the chimney based according to its age, while APC evaluated it against today's code. Informative. The cannot assess the actual work they performed, but they seemed thorough. They were very clean and punctual. Very professional.

This company is extremely professional. They showed up on time, performed the inspection, and recommended necessary corrective action. I would definitely recommend them.

It went great, had these folks come out before and that's why I went back for their services again. They were very professional, made sure to keep are traffic areas covered and were very efficient and made sure everything was in compliance. Would highly recommend!!!

Great. Phone communication was prompt. Came the next day. Staff were prompt, polite and did a great job. Provided an assessment of chimney condition with suggestions for work to be done along with photos.

Never performed. Had someone else do for $250. They quoted me $1800.
