American Professional Chimney & Masonry

Found out we needed to reline the chimney, which was not really what I wanted to hear but was important to find out.

Went very well. Show up on time, work was performed efficiently and most important with a chimney, very clean.

This is our second time using American Professional Chimney & Masonry. We were very satisfied with their service the first time and of course wanted to give them more business. This time, we rearranged our schedule because the office staff told us that they might be up to a half hour early and we needed to be available. They ended up being approximately 20min late. When they arrived they were courteous and professional. However, they did not spend the time we deserved cleaning our chimney. They used a shop vacuum with an extension and a feather brush to clean our chimney. Our chimney is two-stories high and they maybe achieved 3-4 feet. In our opinion, they did a great job cleaning our "fireplace" but did not efficiently clean our "chimney." Sadly, we are very disappointed in this service.

They were able to view and show me th the chimney didn't need cleaning. They had trouble lighting the fireplace and keeping it lit. I was told a supervisor would come out but they never did. Feel like i paid $89 for someone to take a picture of my chimney. The tech said he didn't have the right equipment anyway to clean it and acted annoyed that it was a gas fireplace.

Guys were on time and thorough. Recommended what would be needed in the future.

It was very good. They were very clean. They didn’t leave a mess and it was very quick.

The appointment was scheduled for between 12:30 pm and 1:00 pm. The repairman arrived at my home at 11:30 am. He did not call to say he would be early. He called once at my home to ask if I was home. I told him the representative confirmed 12:30 - 1:00. He said this was true however his last client cancelled and he was early. I told him I was not available at 11:30; he then said he would be at my home at 12:30 pm. At approximately 12:00 noon, I heard noises in the back of my home. I looked outside only to find the repairman on top of my roof inspecting the chimney! I went outside to ask him how he got up there considering my fence to the backyard was locked. He replied that threw the ladder over the fence they jumped the fence and proceeded to get on the roof!! I was very disturbed by this and shared that with him. He replied that if a burglar wanted to gain entry, he could do that in many ways! I never gave him permission to enter my property, nor did he ask to do so in my absence. I hope this isn't the way they do business - entering a potential client's property without authorization or permission. That's extremely unsafe, both for the homeowner and the repairman. Needless to say, I will NOT be doing business with this company and would NOT recommend.

The whole experience was very professional and positive. Because this was an Angie's list special, I actually paid through Angie's List and made a separate call to American Chimney & Masonry to schedule, but they were familiar with the process and I had no problems with billing or scheduling. I was able to get an appointment the next week. They called one day before the appointment to give me a two-hour window in which they planned to arrive. Two employees arrived within 10 minutes of the start of that window and were able to accomplish the cleaning & inspection in half an hour. They worked efficiently, used a vacuum cleaner while sweeping, and kept a drop cloth in place, until everything was cleaned and inspected, so there was no mess. I was very satisfied with the result. They provided me an informative verbal description of the type, construction & state of repair of my fireplace and chimney and answered all of my questions clearly. I have since used the fireplace and all is well. I definitely recommend this company.

Great! He was very meticulous both inside and out side the house. Used tarps and made sure everything was cleaned up before he left.

as expected. no surprises. He even diagnosed a mortar/efflourescence condition causing streaks on our cedar shingled roof. I never felt as though I was being upsold on other services.

It was fine. I felt it was more of a sales call than anything. They were definitely trying to sell me a lot of service. I didn't pay any more. They called me right away to schedule. The provider was using it more as a sales call. They were definitely trying to redo my whole chimney. They wanted me to redo the bricks on the outside, they wanted me to rebuild my whole chimney. The workers were very courteous. It turned out my chimney wasn't dirty. They should just not make it so much of a sales call.

very professional and balanced assessment of chimney / fire box and exterior brick. took many pictures from the roof to show me various issues. Was honest about urgency of various issues and recomendations.

Two-person crew showed up on time, as scheduled. Cleaning and inspection went smoothly. Evidently, a lot of additional work needs to be done in order to use the fireplace (e.g., new chimney liner, repairing the chimney cap, redoing some brickwork at the top of the chimney). The crew provided a separate estimate for those repairs. I especially appreciated that one of the guys took some pictures of the chimney problems that existed to provide evidence of the need for further repairs. He sent them to me upon my request.

Showed up on time, very friendly; performed the sweep and told us things we need to think about for future maintenance and service without making us feel like we were being up-sold. We had a follow up appointment to make a few repairs when the tech performed and even showed us before and after photos. Great job!!!!
