 + 3 moreThey were about to install a new flew and take out the old tile and fix the top of the chimney. I now have a open WOOD burning fireplace and am super happy with my choice.
Description of Work: I have a old row in dc. I have a fireplace that use to be coal burning and later that chimney was used to vent the gas from my old furnace. I was told by others the most I can get is a nice gas fireplace. They said they could make it wood burning and gave me a choice between an insert of a open.

 + 0 moreIt was fine, the cleaning itself, I assume was ok. Its kind of hard to know,but they were pretty efficient, and came in and cleaned up everything after they were done. The chimney technician was helpful. and also like giving us a peek in our second fireplace, and helping us understand how it works. They did sort of an inspection, and gave us an expensive proposal. Some things were wrong with the chimney, but we were a little bit skeptical about, and you know we heard it was a thing that happen with these deals, and we will get a a second opinion I think, before we were to do it. That is the only thing to note. We didn't opt to have ant additional services done. That's hard to say, without verifying whether the issue they raised is one of an actual issue or not. Assuming everything was correct and the cleaning services, I would probably give them an A. I think the price was pretty reasonable. The same I assume. Yeah. They were very easy to work with. The tech that came put was very good. Very, very, they did a great job. From the time they arrived, to the time they were finished, it was quick. I don't remember exactly, but certainly under an hour.

 + 0 moreIt worked out fine. It turned out to be quite an expensive project, but we were satisfied with the work done and confidence. I booked it and then they scheduled it. They are quite good in terms of scheduling it, working out a time reasonably close to when they done that assessment. Once they started, they moved through the project within a couple of days. We didn’t do comparative shopping, so I can’t say how competitively they were priced. They did seem to be a little pricey, but I was convinced that what they recommended, needed to be done. I would consider using them again, they only thing I would do is shop around and see if they were competitively priced for what I was looking at.
Description of Work: Purchased a Big Deal from American Professional Chimney for $129 for chimney cleaning and inspection. They actually did a diagnosis, an assessment of the chimney and said that it basically needed a lot of work. Both the flue for the heating system and the hot water and stuff as well as the chimney needed to be relined. Based on the Angie’s List perk what we brought, they did the cleaning and an assessment of what they needed to do and came out.

 + 2 moreThis company cleaned the flue system and smoke chamber and removed the damper. They parged the fireplace smoke chamber and smoothed with insulated cement. They installed a new flexible cement crown, ground out and tuckpointed weak mortar joints then applied a heavy dose of V.O.C. grade water repellent to the entire exterior of the chimney. They installed a new lock top damper combo in the chimney. They were prompt and did a thorough job of inspection. They gave me choices and recommendations on what needed to be done and what could be delayed. They did the above listed work in Oct 2017. So far everything appears to be working as advertised. In addition, with the new lock top damper and smoothing in the smoke chamber I have had no more down draft from the chimney and therefore no smokey fire starts or smoke smells in the house since the work was done. That alone has been worth the price. Previously I had to warm the chimney up by burning newspaper in the fireplace to warm up the air in the chimney for a good draw.

 + 0 moreDid not get the discount because the company did not accept the coupon, The job was not started at the scheduled time because the workers did not bring the correct size liner, therefore they went to another assignment and returned later in the afternoon to do the job. It was completed late in the evening (dark). Although I have not used the chimney as yet, the job appeared to have been done properly. Also the person I spoke with was not user friendly.

 + -1 moreTook awhile but the work required was extensive. Their workers were very expert on every aspect of rebuilding the chimney from the inside out and did a fantastic job! The outside masonry work was challenge because at first, we were not told the brick sizes didn't match. However, in the end we were able to match the color and arrived at a solution with regard to a pattern which deemphasized the difference in the mortar joints.
Description of Work: Rebuilt chimney entirely on inside and replaced 10 courses and crown on top..

 + 3 moreThey did a great job of communicating the issues throughout the process. In addition, since we had a number of rainy days delaying the completion of the works, they followed up regularly to ensure that we knew about the delays.
Description of Work: We needed to have chimney and flu liners installed following an inspection that determined that the old flus were outdated and broken. They also replaced stones on the chimney and did a top to bottom tuck point in areas that were damaged.

 + 6 moreEXCELLENT! I was able to get Catherine the book keeper to give me a fair deal and I have no complaints. After the excellent work American did on my chimney, I won't need to darken their door again for a long while.
Description of Work: I had a comedy of errors that would make a great sketch on Saturday Night Live. My 17-year-old heater kept giving me trouble, but I didn't want to spend the cash getting a new one. However, "The Old Girl" finally died and I was forced to get a new gas heater. I will not name the company who I bought the heater from, but there was a problem. The day they came in to instill it, the technicians discovered that there was damage to my chimney that I didn't know about. I was told that many old home such as mine suffered chimney damage from the 2011 earthquake. That damage blocked my chimney and I need a new chimney line before my new heater could be installed. Unfortunately, the company I bought the heater from didn't do that kind of work. Fortunately, I remembered an Angie's List posting for American Professional Chimney and Masonry. They had a special for the lining for my chimney and could do the repairs for about their $1600 and some change Angie's List special. Like you are doing right now, I read up on these guys and saw their reviews. I found customers had positive results with them, so I took the plunge. Before doing the work, American sent a guy out to do a walk through before they did the work. Unlike other companies, this guy from American went on my roof and gave me some bad news: MY CHIMNEY WAS DAMAGED COMPLETELY! So, if I wanted to get a new liner for my new heater, I HAD TO GET A NEW CHIMNEY. Now, I knew the American Guy was NOT blowing smoke up my butt and trying to make some extra bucks. Last year, I had gone up on my roof to examine some work that had be done. I didn't want some second hand information, So, when the American Guy told me and showed me video, I knew the problem was real. So, now I not only had to get a liner for my chimney, I also had to rebuild my chimney. American was in a position where they could stick it to me good........BUT THEY DIDN'T! They gave me an honest and fair deal so I was hooked. What really sold me was the next day when the workers showed up. Edgar, Santos and Marvin (None of us could figure out how a Hispanic Brother could have a name like "MARVIN") came to my house & WORKED! The guys did not come to play, they came to work. When lunch time came, they took their break and they worked so hard, I treated them to lunch. I was impressed with their hard work and dedication to their job. It took two days to rebuild my chimney, clean the damage inside the chimney, install the liner and rebuild the pipe fitting for the new heater. After the work was done, the company came in and installed the new heater effortlessly.

They brought some work to my attention that I needed on my roof and I was thankful for that. They were personal and cleaned up everything. I will use them again for my regular cleaning. They offered to clean my gutters while they were up there so I paid them to do that. The ladies in the office were very good too. They did an excellent job.
