Description of Work: The first man who showed up for the appointment, Mr Rogers, was professional and knowledgeable about concrete and the job requirements. A second portion of the work was what Mr Rogers called waterproofing & he referred me to a co-worker for that estimate. As of today, at least 10 days later, the second man has not contacted me & I have called the office 3 times requesting a second phase estimate. This is no way to run a business, I found another company to do the work.

We have a new phone receptionist, but there are three women who answer phones and I don't think One you telephone receptionist justifies your not being contacted. I'm happy to hear you were pleased with Steve Rogers. I will look into what the cause of the delayed response and make sure that it's rectified. Since you got another company to do the work, I won't have anybody contact you at this point. I do want to thank you for leaving a review. The average chimney cleaning rate is about $169. With the big deal coupon you purchased, your price was $99. I'm curious whether you thought that price was deserving of a C or if the price we left you on your repair estimate was deserving of a C. $99 is an exceptionally low price. Sometimes I think when we leave an estimate for repairs, people tend to grade us a little lower and the price category because the fact that we left an estimate bothered them. Description of Work: visually inspected our chimney - did not use a camera. Said there was no lining and that basically everything was wrong with it. Wanted to charge us over $7,000 to fix it without showing any proof like a using a video. Had another chimney group come out and they said everything was fine and showed us the liner that supposedly wasn't there and fixed the damper for couple hundred bucks.

I looked up the hand written proposal Howard left with you that day and it clearly stated terra cotta liner removal as part of the project. Years ago, it was common to tell customers that if they had an older liner they were in good shape. a few folks still do that and then sell something they can do in a few minutes for a couple hundred bucks. It's an easy sell and fast money and unethical and leave the customer happy but unsafe. That is what has happened here, undoubtedly. We have more A reviews and Super Service Awards than any other Chimney company in the entire area because all of us are dedicated to customer service excellence. That is not an easy accomplishment and we never ever deceive anyone for any reason. I always like to show customer's a video scan for free in these situations. Then you can see the size of the gaps or cracks in your liner and decide for yourself. Modern code and chimney regulations clearly state the liner must be free of defects so as to be able to contain ALL of the heat and fumes that are a byproducts of combustion. Not doing so often results in carbon monoxide leakage into the home, condensation in the walls and worse. I would like you to give me a call so I can validate the estimate we left and if the liner is in great shape, I can question the employee involved. But frankly, I know it was Howard and Howard is very smart, very people oriented and would never even think of deceiving anyone. Actually no-one on our staff would, but I know Howard and many of his friends so I can speak for him on a very personal level. But I would like to see the chimney myself, regardless. I promise to not in any way bring up anything that might be viewed as an attempt to sell the work. I only want to validate the proposal left. Incidentally, the parging of the smoke chamber is also a modern requirement and the proposal price included that and relining of your furnace flue and some masonry work on the exterior which you can usually see for yourself from the ground. Binoculars will aid clarity. It is usually necessary in older homes to reline both flues as they are the same general age and condition. My personal cell phone number is 202-468-5506.
