Owner, Dave Myers, is the area's most experienced chimney diagnostician (since 1973). We have an A-Plus BBB rating & emphasize customer service excellence in every aspect of our business. We especially appreciated how the manager of the project (Renaldo) took the time to show us what he was doing and how the job was being done. We also appreciate that the crew worked into the early evening to complete the job rather than come back and complete it during expected inclement weather the next day.

We also called you that day and recording a message that your voice mail bocx is full. We received no response from you to the email. We then repeatedly called the phone number provided to us by Angie's List. Each time the recording has continued to say your mail box is full. Then we received your F review. "The cleaning of a chimney is brief. The majority of time is spent setting up and taking down our ladders, vacuums, hoses, brushes, lighting, and drop cloths and returning it all to it's place in the work van as well as inspecting the chimney with high powered spotlights from the roof and from the interior and writing up a detailed report. We do spend a good deal of time talking to our clients about their chimneys, helping them understand how their chimney is constructed and the purpose of each component. We then explain the conditions seen within the chimney and how they might effect either the longevity or the safety of the chimney. We also indicate the urgency of each issue. At this point, our clients can make an informed decision that is aligned with their short and long term goals. The technicians arrived within the "call ahead" timeframe. There were 2 young men and they were both courteous and very personable. Prior to starting the work, they discussed with me what they were going to do. They went right to work cleaning the fireplace and inspecting and cleaning the chimney from within the house. There was absolutely no mess left behind. The technicians then went on the roof to inspect and take pictures.
A itemized proposal with recommendations was written and discussed with me. I was really very happy that there was no pressure to immediately purchase the additional items and/or services. It was extremely important that I felt that I was not being scammed or pressured.
After the holidays I am definitely considering having American Professional Chimney & Masonry return and perform some, if not all, of the recommendations the technicians made. And I will definitely request the service of Mr.. Ronald Gomez.

The only glitch I had in using this Angie's List deal with American Professional Chimney & Masonry was something that had been mentioned in past reviews. The office staff isn't overly persistent in trying to reach customers to confirm the arrival time of the team.
I did get a message in a very timely manner through Angie's List saying I'd been scheduled for 11/29 and that I would receive a call on 11/27 (the 28th was Thanksgiving Day) to confirm an arrival window. I never received that call or a message. Instead, I called first thing on the 29th and, after being made to feel as though I'd interrupted someone's day because I inadvertently called the person on the other end of the line by the wrong name, I was told when the team would arrive and that I didn't get the call on the 27th because she couldn't leave a message. The only phone number/line/etc. I own on which a caller cannot leave a message is my home phone and I never give that out to anyone who might need to reach me with timely information. I go give out my Google Voice number, which asks callers to state their name and the service will try to connect the call. I've had one other instance where another service provider (plumber) thought they'd reached voice mail and didn't leave a message, though if they had, they wouldn't have had to wait for me to arrive home. I know Google Voice isn't part of everyone's life, but it's no different that calling, say, a credit card company and following the menu to get to the right option.
Additionally, I don't find "I couldn't leave a message" as an acceptable excuse when they'd previously contacted me through an Angie's List message, and I'm guessing there's access to my email address, as it's part of my profile when I make a purchase.
I would certainly use APC&M again, but would not look forward to speaking to the front office.
