Chimney cleaning time can vary greatly. 10 to 20 minutes is not unusual for a fluffy soot buildup. If you have any doubt about the cleanliness of your chimney, please give us a call and will have somebody come out right away. When we are instructing the guys to go out to the chimney and it has a little soot in it, we ask them to go ahead and clean it. When we get a request for a cleaning and inspection we do just that . If you only want an inspection, you should request only an inspection. The fee, however, is $75. For that reason we usually clean them because for just s few more dollars you might as will get it taken care of and not have to worry about it for a while . We also find some times that want to chimney looks clean there is actually a lot of buildup laying on the shelf behind the damper. It should be safety Institute of America states that that is the most important part of a committee queen because that area is prone collecting an off a lot of sweat and can fuel the long term chimney fire. I realize this may sound odd but this area is not visible without removing the damper and actually going through part of the process of cleaning the chimney . Anybody who doubts that this is a fact, should contact the chimney safety Institute of America for verification. This is because it is a shelf hope high above the fireplace and there is no way to look up the chimney and you back down on top of that shelf. If you happen to clean your chimney in a couple of years or you don't know the status of your chimney, you should get it cleaned and inspected. Description of Work: I mainly hired them to clean my chimney, which they did quicker than promised, so this was a very good thing. The crew was very professional, worked on a drop cloth, removed their shoes and meticulously cleaned up afterward. Scheduling was okay. Catherine provided a few possible dates and worked with me to select the best one for me. However, there were a couple of negatives. The crew shoed up two hours late without notice. It was okay since it was on a Sunday morning, but if it was a work day, I would have had a problem with it. Also, the service included an inspection of my fireplace. After I asked them, they said that the inspection went okay and there were no cracks or other issues with the fireplace. When I looked inside the fireplace (after they already left) I clearly saw several thin cracks. I am not sure those cracks are dangerous and I am going to patch them up with some fireproof concrete, but it seems that the "inspection" didn't really happen. I am okay with the results because, once again, I mainly wanted them to clean the chimney, but I can't give them an A rating since they didn't do everything they promised.

Sorry they were late. I'm glad the din't cause you a problem. Thin cracks in the fireplace are often not considered a safety issue. There's a lot of thermal expansion and retraction between fire rich and hairline cracks do frequently develop. Larger open cracks should be filled. I suspect the guys did actually look farther up the chimney as they virtually always do and hence their statement about no cracks up in the chimney. Sometimes we look very closely up and down the chimney and miss what is right in front of our faces. The firebox itself!! No excuses. I will be sure to let the guys know to look at every portion carefully. Dave Myers, owner

Description of Work: Two young guys, nice enough, but very unprofessional. Came in with huge vacuum banging it on the interior door trim. Started to clean chimney without putting drop cloth-- until I mentioned it. Hardly did any sweeping-- took less than 10 minutes-- I hardly think they cleaned any soot as I didn't see much of anything come out. Then tried to tell me I need all kinds of repairs (which I was prepared for). I said "no, please don't upsell me." And requested they leave.
