Two chimney sweeps cleaned 2 chimneys. They did a good job and appeared honest when finding one malfunction in one of the fireplaces. The helper chimney sweeper suggested that I pay the individual chimney sweeps rather than the company when asking for the balance on the account. They suggested that my outside chimney had a crack in it and tried to sell me an expensive product. When I got a second opinion, I was told there was nothing wrong with my chimney.

The workers were on time and very professional. They evaluated and cleaned my fireplace for safe operation and made recommendations.

You can't go wrong with these guys! The company I have previously used kept increasing their price each year so I went looking. I had originally booked two others (first one never showed up and the second one called 30 mins before my scheduled appt...10 AM and said they wouldn't be here until 5 PM- cancelled at that point) so was getting a little leery of all of them. But, I knew that I needed to get this done so after reading all of the comments went ahead and purchased the special deal that was offered through Angie's List. They called the day before to confirm the time. Arrived promptly. The two gentlemen were professional, finished quickly, and made sure everything was clean before they left. I was very impressed and will definitely use them again.

Inspection and cleaning was completed within 30 minutes. Contacted in next several days to schedule the services suggested. Had the job scheduled for two and a half days on 10/3/1213. Renaldo and Jose completed job in two days and worked very hard the entire two days. They were considerate and clean, their work was impeccable. They found bricks to match my fireplace on outside as that is how they accessed the flue. They consolidated the flue from the furnace and the hot water heater into one. They sealed the other hole in basement.placed both liners and sealed with cement. One of the liners would not fit for the fireplace, so they went and got another thicker liner from their office. completed crown, sealing flashing, pointing top area of chimney, placed rain cap and rain cap top down damper. The only issue that I faced was when the lower original damper was removed, the fire sometime leaves a smell in the living room area. Also, on occasion smell a slight smoke smell in basement. Contacted Catherine and she said she would have Dave the owner stop by. Dave did stop by and was very courteous and knowledgeable. He did state that if this issue continued to contact them and he would put in a customer lower damper at no charge. Since such time we have had several large fires, ordered a full cord of hardwood. The issue for the most part has subsided for now. Just learning how to deal with the top down damper and the learning curve. Thank you Dave and crew we are loving all of the fires we are having. Now we have to work on getting some new glass doors!

We bought a basic chimney cleaning/sweep. The two workers were running late, but the company called to let us know, which we really appreciate. When they arrived, they did excellent work. The project turned into more than a simple chimney sweep, when they discovered the previous owners of our house never installed a cap on our chimney. As a result, the chimney was filled with debris -- far more than a simple cleaning. The two workers showed us pictures of the blockage and explained that it might take a little longer and they might have to charge us, which we were fine with. They stayed until the job was done, and explained all the charges thoroughly. They even put a new cap on our chimney for a good price. Finally, they noticed some problems with our chimney when they were up on our roof, and gave us an estimate for the repairs, without pressuring us in any way. We were very happy with the work they did and with how helpful the two workers were.

Cleaned out the fireplace and inspected the chimney. They offered to repair small things on the chimney and eventually I will have the repairs done. The two employees were very professional, on time and helpful.

In May of this year we talked to 3 companies about installation of a fireplace insert. All 3 were selected from Angie?s list. We selected American Professional Chimney and Masonry Specialist, based on the knowledge of Brian and Vitale. Even though they weren?t the lowest cost proposal, their presentation made the most sense and did not contain any inconsistencies. Based on information we obtained during their presentation, we ended up going to ACME Stove Co. to look at a stove recommended by Brian. We settled on the Travis Industries Avalon stove. Due to the high ratings on Angie?s list and the strength of their presentation, we decided to have APC install the stove. However, since APC was not a dealer for the stove, the warranty for the stove would be compromised if we ordered the stove through APC, so we ordered the stove from ACME. In July, APC picked up and installed the stove. They did an excellent job of installing the stove, and were very patient as I asked questions as they worked. They started the first fire in the stove to verify every thing worked properly, even staying long enough to verify that the thermostat for the fan actuated. While they were pulling out of the driveway and we were inside enjoying the fire, they noticed that the chimney cap looked different from when they installed it. Without telling us, they climbed back up on the chimney and started fixing the problem. They wouldn?t leave until they fixed the problem to their satisfaction. When we started using the stove in early November, we soon noticed that the thermostat for the fan was becoming increasingly erratic. We called ACME to have them come fix the problem. ACME stated that because APC installed the stove, I needed to contact them to have the unit checked, and then if the issue was not due to an installation issue, we would then need to notify ACME to come check the unit. We contacted APC, and even though they felt that based on the symptoms that we reported, that the issue was a hardware related issue, rather than an installation issue, that they would come look at the stove. Because I did not want to go through multiple rounds of troubleshooting, early on the day APC was to come to look at the stove, I picked up a replacement temperature switch. When Dave Meyers of APC showed up to look at the stove, we rapidly determined that there was nothing associated with the installation that could be causing the problem. I asked him to replace the thermostat, which he did without complaint. After he had replaced the thermostat, I offered to pay him for the service. He refused all of my efforts to pay him. An hour later, we were rewarded by the thermostat turning on the fan. This effort by APC explains why they are so highly rated on Angie?s list.

Sweeping was done quickly, they were able to finish in about 15 minutes. They also inspected the fireplace from inside the house, and also from the rooftop. I recently purchased the home and had no idea the condition of the chimney as the home inspector only conducted a view from the ground. They were able to provide me with a quote for the repairs, which was a little shocking. I was hoping to use my fireplace after the chimney was swept, but the quote to fix some small cracks was over 1100% higher than what I paid for the sweeping. I didn't have that kind of money prepared, so I guess I wont be using my fireplace after all.

The company was very flexible with scheduling, and they showed up right on time--actually they arrived a little early and they had the courtesy to call and make sure that was okay. They did a thorough sweep and inspection--providing pictures to show me some cracks at the top of the chimney. I will likely contact them again to do the repair work as they were very professional, prompt and very neat.

Great company! I called on Wednesday, got an appointment for Friday, and Alex and his partner were at my door on time and ready to work. They completed the job efficiently and professionally. After the cleaning was completed, Alex walked me thru a complete analyis of my fireplace with pictures. Although the additional work to get my fireplace in order will costs thousands, I trust that this company will do a great job. This is the third comapny I have used from Angie's list and its been another good experience. I've had only one bad experience with a company from Angie's List. I would recommend this company to others and would contact them again for future services.

The American team has been responsive to my requests, and I await a proposal.

Come to find out, the chimney was clogged and was unable to be cleaned. They were very nice, honest, thorough in investigating the chimney and even had their supervision come take a look at this as well.

The work went smoothly. The contractors , the contractors worked quetly, efficiently and were neat they cleaned up any residue aused a grinding type tool to remove the old mortar and then filled the carks, etc. They also sealed the area under the vinyl windows (where water was seeping into the house. After filling carcks and crevices in my concrete window leges they resurfaced the areas (5 windows). They also checked my back gutter to ensure that it was free of debris. Within an hour after the contractor finished, it rained heavily for the next few days. My inner walls remained dry and the water no longer pools around my back drain. I am pleased with the quality of the work and will consider this contractor for future projects.

They were about a half hour late. No mention of that when they arrived, but were most pleasant and did a terrific job. Kept the area clean, worked quickly and explained what they were doing. It was a cold and windy morning but they still went up on the chimney and did all the work necessary to completely check out my fireplace and chimney.

The two technicians arrived within the designated timeframe. They were very polite and careful about covering the floor so that the ashes from the fireplace didn't get on anything. They were great with the dogs, which I appreciated. They also got on the roof to inspect the chimney and gave me a detailed estimate for repairs, but didn't pressure me to commit to anything that day. I would like to get the repairs done in the next year or so and expect to ask this company to do the repairs at that time.

The service provider scheduled the service for 1:00 PM. However, they were delayed on the day of service, so they postponed till 3:00 PM. They didn't actually arrive (after several phone calls by us) till after 5:00 PM. I was concerned by the late arrival mostly because it was dark by the time the technician went onto the roof for the exterior chimney inspection, which he did with a flashlight without any issues. Unfortunately, the technicians didn't have the appropriate sized brush to clear our damper for the chimney cleaning, so the service was not completed; rather they had to return the following day to complete the service. On the following day, they did arrive on time and they did complete the service. My principal complaint is that I was never given a definitive answer to the fundamental question of "is it safe to build a fire in my fireplace?" I was given a lengthy and thorough explanation of the repairs that were being proposed and I was provided with a detailed estimate for those repairs. We are new to the house, which is old (1942), and the chimney hasn't been upgraded, so I do understand the need for an upgrade. However, because we're not in a position to spend thousands of dollars at this time for such an upgrade, I would have appreciated a definitive response to the question of safety.

The company scheduled an appointment right away and called me the day before to let me know exactly when they would arrive. They were supposed to arrive between 2:30 and 3:30 possibly as late as 4pm. They showed up at the wrong address at 6pm. After speaking with them, they wanted to come to the correct address (15 minutes away) and do the work. I said no that I did not want anyone on my roof in the dark and that I wanted to reschedule. They apologized saying that they got held up on another job, but that they do work in the dark all the time. I said no again. I called the company in the morning to reschedule and spoke with Maria. To say that Maria was rude would be an understatement at the very least. Maria said that I needed to give them the right address next time. I did give them the correct address. I own 2 homes, one that has a chimney and one that does not. Maria then told me that they do work in the dark all the time with spotlights and it was fine. I don't want to do business with a company that sends its guys to do work on a roof at night. More importantly, I don't want to do business with a company that treats customers this badly.

Everything went very well, the personnel was on time and explained in detail what they were doing there findings and suggestions for the future.

It was fine. They were prompt and professional and I would recommend them to others.

They did a great job. They found some other things that needed fixing. They were reliable and responsive. I was pleased all around with their service.

In general they did a good job of cleaning the chimney. Afterwards they gave me a proposed estimate of an additional $5000 for work that they say I need to have done. They also removed a hearth piece that I need if I am ever going to use the fireplace. Because of that, I was not entirely satisfied with the job.

I had an appointment with a company to sweep my chimney in mid December. However, my furnace began having problems. Concerned that it was a draft issue, I tried to get the other company to come sooner. However, they were unable to do so. Based upon Angie's List ratings, I contacted American Professional Chimney & Masonry. They were able a team to come that afternoon. The team came and cleaned my chimney/flue. The team was professional and service oriented. I appreciate American Professional Chimney & Masonry's willingness to work with me and handle short notice calls. I plan to use them again.

The contacted me and said they could not service my area so I needed to find someone else. However, they were very responsive and I appreciated that. They were very quick to respond with the error.
