American Professional Chimney & Masonry

Provider arrived on time and did the work in a quick and professional manner. They did find some cracks in the fireplace brick and gave us a quote to have them replaced but we chose to repair the cracks ourselves.

The work was done swiftly and professionally. Scaffolding was set up and all materials were neatly organized during the work. After the work was over the workers flushed out the gutters to assure that all debris from the work was gone. I was completely impressed with their manner, skill and hard work. I would not hesitate to use this company. I was very relieved to find a reliable, honest chimney company. The name 'American Professional' suits them well.

Very pleased with their honesty. They also took a look at the chase cover on the chimney and they said that it did not need to be replaced, but just sanded and painted. I was waiting for an estimate of this, but never got one. Still interested in getting an estimate for this if it's possible. 12/11/13 As of 12/11, still waiting for a call back on the estimate for painting the chase cover. Hope to hear from you soon! The team that came out was very prompt, polite and professional. The fireplace is nearly spotless, but the cleaning did reveal some problems with the fire brick in the fire place, which I was alerted to. I was also provided an estimate to make the repairs necessary to get the fireplace back in working order. The only glitch I had in using this Angie's List deal with American Professional Chimney & Masonry was something that had been mentioned in past reviews. The office staff isn't overly persistent in trying to reach customers to confirm the arrival time of the team. I did get a message in a very timely manner through Angie's List saying I'd been scheduled for 11/29 and that I would receive a call on 11/27 (the 28th was Thanksgiving Day) to confirm an arrival window. I never received that call or a message. Instead, I called first thing on the 29th and, after being made to feel as though I'd interrupted someone's day because I inadvertently called the person on the other end of the line by the wrong name, I was told when the team would arrive and that I didn't get the call on the 27th because she couldn't leave a message. The only phone number/line/etc. I own on which a caller cannot leave a message is my home phone and I never give that out to anyone who might need to reach me with timely information. I go give out my Google Voice number, which asks callers to state their name and the service will try to connect the call. I've had one other instance where another service provider (plumber) thought they'd reached voice mail and didn't leave a message, though if they had, they wouldn't have had to wait for me to arrive home. I know Google Voice isn't part of everyone's life, but it's no different that calling, say, a credit card company and following the menu to get to the right option. Additionally, I don't find "I couldn't leave a message" as an acceptable excuse when they'd previously contacted me through an Angie's List message, and I'm guessing there's access to my email address, as it's part of my profile when I make a purchase. I would certainly use APC&M again, but would not look forward to speaking to the front office.

They came, they cleaned, they left - no muss, no fuss, no debris left behind. Great experience.

Service went fine. They did tell us some work needed to be done which I want to independently verify.

During heavy rain, I was hearing raindrops in my fireplace. American Professional Chimney came out promptly and gave an estimate. They painted the chase cover with a galvanized compound. After a heavy rain, I heard a few drops, but much less than before. They returned and resealed it. No problems since. The workers were courteous, prompt, professional, and respectful of my property. The office staff was also very courteous, prompt, and professional.

It went fine except that our chimney needs major repairs, not sweeping.

My interaction with American Professional Chimney was positive. They were able to schedule an inspection quickly, and the men arrived on time as expected. They were very pleasant and provided a thorough inspection of our chimney. They also provided helpful advice on how to operate it since this is our first house with a chimney. They found one repair which is needed (but not urgent) and provided an estimate which we will pursue fixing next spring/summer.

Chimney is as clean as it has ever been. The report on the inspection was thorough and easily understood.

They were about 45 minutes late - not a big problem. They gave me a rough estimate of $5000 for needed repairs including repointing, brick work , liners and repair to the furnace vent. It took 2-3 days and several phone calls to get the formal estimate. I have had another contractor in and the second contractor found the same issues. I am prcing contractors now to do the work.

No work was performed. This was a confusing & disconcerting transaction. The company came ouit twice. On the first trip they told me I needed a chase cover and replacement of the cover would be $700. I indicated to the office staff that I wanted a cap installed and would have to purchase a chase cover later. Representatives came out and toook measurements, again, of the chase cover and told me that a new cap wouldn't do any good. This representative gave me an estimate of $1,000.00, a discount from the normal $1,500.00 cost. All I intended was to replace the chimney cap. Since I am not prepared to replace my chase cover at this time and the company doesn't seem to want to just replace the cap, I will be asking for a refund. I would prefer to use another company in future.

I did not get what I expected with this Big Deal. The service provider didn't even know how to turn on my gas fireplace and I couldn't verify that they were able to sweep the chimney, but they did get up on the roof and take off the chimney cap.

Contractor arrived on time and finished the job quickly and satisfactorily. I used this same contractor in '05 to re-line with a stainless piper, and the results have been excellent. While here, they inspected another fireplace to advise repair of the damper.

It went well but the representative kept trying to up-sell me on a chimney liner. Also, I have an ash chute in the basement that I asked them to clean out, but the rep gave me an odd reason as to why he would not clean it out. I would consider using them in the future when I install a chimney liner.

Nice job. Even vacuumed out the fire place.

I called to set up an appointment, and get same day service. Crew was clean, professional, and explained everything that they did. in addition, they provided me with a quote for some repairs. I would definitely use them again, each year.

In response to an Angie's List special, these folks came to check and clean my chimney. They were wonderfully professional, friendly, and helpful, and also suggested some additional work I need. I would definitely recommend them and will use them again.

VERY HAPPY. HIGHLY RECOMMEND. This is a good outfit. Polite, courteous, good quality. We had them sweep our chimney and inspect our chimney and wood burning stove. They were super, super helpful and provided a lot of great options for us to do some future repair work.

Just ok. We got the $119 deal from Angie's List for a chimney sweep and inspection. I called the company and scheduled a 3:30 pm appointment. The day before the appointment I got a voice mail saying the men would arrive as scheduled at 10:30 am. So I called again and reminded them that the appointment was actually for 3:30 pm. Then the day of the appointment I got a call at 1:30 pm saying the men were at the house as scheduled but there was nobody home. A bit exasperated, I reminded them again that the appointment was for 3:30 pm. They were there at 3:30 pm, thank goodness. I got the sense they are pretty disorganized - they need to take a look at their scheduling and appointment system, so they don't waste their employees' and their clients' time with a bunch of confusion. They did a good job with the chimney cleaning, it was worth the $119 bucks, but they also offered some services that were outrageously priced - a $1400 chimney rebuild, a $1800 stainless steel something, and a $400 something else. Gimme a break. I want my chimney cleaned for a hundred bucks and you offer me $3600 worth of other work? Does anybody ever fall for that?

They were polite, punctual, efficient and worked very cleanly (very important for chimney cleaners). I can recommend them highly.

They did a great job. They cleaned it and they were aimed to please. He was very professional. They removed the old caulking and replaced it. Mr. Abel was great.

The repointing was good but the clean- up did not go as well...some staining on bricks.
