I scheduled the appointment via their online scheduling system. I received an email confirmation from the manager. They were no shows with no courtesy call.

It was an Angie's List Big Deal that I purchased. It was so-so. They did very well on the chimney cleaning and inspection. They told me they found some damage on top and that I needed a new chaise cover. I ordered a cover through them in November and they did not actually install the cover until the day after Christmas. They called and said they were going to be delayed and then they came out and told me that they measured wrong so they had to order another chaise cover. I got a little bit of the run around and it took well over a month to get the thing that was supposed to take about 1 1/2 weeks to install. Some of the people were very professional and some were not. I would use them again for cleaning.

They were polite, quick and clean. They did a great job!

I thought that American Chimney did a fantastic job on the rebuild of two chimneys (brickwork to the roof line), redo and improvement of flashing, steel liner of the exhaust chimney, and sealing of brickwork. What really impressed me -- and had been a huge worry for me --was the matching of brick and mortar. I have a sandy colored mortar and antique brick which were matched perfectly by their technicians. The mortar work was very professionally done. Major roof leaks that had plagued me for years were resolved with this repair. They did flashing the PROFESSIONAL way (unlike my roofer) with the flashing tucked into lines cut into the mortar line of the brick. They probably saved me from carbon monoxide back flow in my laundry room with their inspection and eventual steel lining of my exhaust chimney (tile were out of alignment probably due to a recent earthquake). They encountered a difficult install on the liner, and really put their backs into the job. This process took several days; don't expect a one day job. But, they did it RIGHT, and that was worth the three days I worked at home to accommodate the process. All in all, very good quality work at a price that I thought very reasonable.

They were great. They came in, super professional, really fast, good guys and I like them. They cleaned the chimney, they cleaned the fireplace as well, they were in and out about half an hour and that's really all we needed from them. We'll need them here again pretty soon.

They arrived on time and went right to work. The were very neat and did a good job of making a dirty job very clean. They answered any questions that I had and were quick and efficent

A gentleman came to our house and did the inspection but said that it didn't need swept because there was alot of things that needed fixed first. He left a $8000 estimate. We needed to get a cage to put around the chimney to stop animals from getting in. I called the office and the lady that I spoke to seemed very rushed, was very rude and abrasive. I had my husband call back and she was also very rude to him. Whether we are spending $1 or $8000, we won't be giving them our business. When I was on the line with her I could hear phone lines ringing in the back ground and she seemed very impatient, so I don't know if that is why she was so snappy, but not good customer service. She was extremely rude and abrasive, she even got snappy with me when my baby started crying and said she couldn't hear me.

The team was on time, efficient, and very polite. They showed me pictures of the work I wasn't able to see on my own.

They came originally to do a chimney sweep and inspection. They were right on time and everything seemed fine. They cleaned the chimney and acted very professional, but said that the inspection had identified major problems that needed to be addressed before the chimney could be used costing $4,000. I don't know much about chimneys so decided to pay for another inspection. The second company said we only needed $500 in repairs and that the chimney would work fine in the mean time while we scheduled a the repairs to the crown. I gave American Professional a negative review based on this second opinion. They then called me up after seeing the negative review. They came back to do a video inspection of the chimney for free to check on the quality of their first inspection. They confirmed the results of the first inspection and showed me the video feed to back up their work. They were very professional throughout the interaction despite my earlier negative review. I was wrong to post such a negative review earlier. They adressed the situation in a very appropriate manner, so I am amending my earlier F to make it an A.

I knew about these problems from a sweep two years ago, but this time decided to get them fixed. The work was done on time and very professionally.

Everything went as scheduled and the service was nice. The technician was very nice and professional. They did everything they said they were going to do and completed the work in timely manner.

Did an excellent quick job on cleaning the chimney and gave me a fair estimate for recapping the crown of the chimney.

When I called to schedule, the person who answered the phone was somewhat discourteous, complaining about how Angie's List operated. When the man came, he went around my house, and proposed techniques to repair water coming into the house that seemed strange to me; I had had a number of different people come to the house and none of them proposed anything like what he did. He also indicated the price, which would have been prohibitive to us (although I didn't say that to him), especially without any guarantee that the problem would be fixed. At any rate, he said he would send me proposed plans to fix the problem, and he never did. I really don't remember the date of service.

Good overall. They arrived earlier than expected and got the job done. After inspection, some repairs were noted and they provided me with an estimate. Very thorough inspection.

It was a great experience. The foreman, Brian, and his technicians were very knowledgeable about our chimney system, clearly explained how to use the system, and did a very thorough cleaning. We were also impressed at how clean they kept the house while they did the work. Ultimately, we will use them again and would recommend the company's services to others.

This was the best customer service and quality workmanship experience I've had in a long time and I will recommend this company to everyone I know. I will definitely use them again for some brick wall masonry work as well. It's so refreshing to find an honest, hardworking home improvement company with professional and friendly staff who make an extra effort to clearly communicate what they are doing and go the extra mile for customer satisfaction. I recently purchased my first home and have had a crash course in contractors - construction, handymen, plumbers, HVAC guys, you name it, and have gotten about 25 estimates for various projects over the past few months. It's exhausting, frustrating, and takes a huge amount of time. Happening upon American Professional Chimney & Masonry after all that was such a breath of fresh air. My fireplace probably hadn't been touched in 75 years and needed a lot of work so I got three estimates. Two came in very close to $5k and one at $7k for the same work (the main difference was for labor as the higher estimate company was going to send three guys instead of two for the two day job). I chose this company because I had a very positive customer service experience both over the phone and with the estimator, because they noted a few more details on their estimate sheet that gave me confidence they were really paying attention (e.g. they noticed the vent pipe off the hot water heater was 1" too small and replaced it before joining with the furnace vent), because they have excellent Angie's List reviews already, and because they were closer to my home. I absolutely made the right choice. I decided to get the work done in early Dec. which is a busy time of year for this industry I'm sure. Still, they had good availability and were able to do the work the two days after Christmas. They sent two guys who were very, very friendly and courteous. They showed up early each day and worked hard all day long. They were very careful to keep indoor areas clean (I was concerned about dust getting on plants all around the fireplace) and sealed off the fireplace while demolishing the existing terra cotta liner. I tried not to interrupt much but they were happy to answer questions about what they were doing and how things worked (e.g. the insulation around the metal liners) which I appreciated tremendously. On the second day, they were doing tuckpointing around the chimney and I asked if they thought I should consider repairing one notable crack in my home's exterior under a window. I thought they could just give me advice or maybe do it at the same time, for which I'd have been happy to pay a reasonable additional amount. Instead, they just took care of it and I noticed they even ground out and repaired a few other spots I hadn't even noticed. Now THAT is customer service. I never got up on the roof but I could see from the ground that they essentially repaired every strip of mortar around the whole chimney. In addition to being technically competent, professional, and courteous, these were just really nice guys to have around the house for a couple of days and I felt completely comfortable leaving them to work while I ran a few errands. Overall: A+ (and I'm a hard grader). Thank you so much!

Found a problem on the crown (hairline cracks) which they gave me an estimate of $300 to fix. Seemed to be in a really really big hurry so told me to call the office to schedule another visit to fix the hairline cracks.

It was an Angie's List Big Deal that I purchased. It worked out great. They came and did exactly what was needed. They did a good job so I had no complaints. I didn't pay any additional. I was satisfied and everything worked out perfectly. I haven't had any problems with the chimney. They said the seal needed to be reattached to the roof which was good for us to know. They wanted $400 and the price was too high. We did have the chimney repaired by another company for $100. They wanted to charge too much for the additional work. They came on time and were set up. I'm not sure if I would use them again because of the second price quote.

The service was good, they inspected and cleaned the inside of the chimney; the inspection also include the outside area. The cost to reinforce the chimney by putting more morter between the bricks is a little too expensive for me. The person who did the inspection could speak good English, so the company called later that night to ensure that I understood the findings from the inspection.

This is a good company that delivers what they promise. They showed up on time and they were professional, courteous and thorough. They cleaned everything as expected, inspected the chimney and provided a report of the work completed and the degree of buildup that was in the pipe ? which in our case was surprisingly minimal after almost ten years without use of the fireplace. They also assessed the chimney and just prior to their departure they provided a detailed estimate for additional work that was need. They showed us pictures of the chimney cap with trees in the background making it clear it was my house where the work was needed which was very helpful in assessing the time sensitivity of the work. Several web sites warn homeowners to beware of high pressure or scare tactics to do more work than requested or required but that was never a problem here. There was no pressure what so ever to do the additional work, just the written estimate upon departure of the workers of what should be done and how much it would cost should American Professional do the work.

The sweep was on time, very pleasant and professional. I will definitely use this company again.

I don't remember the exact cost and date but i remember that I was surprised by the fine service, a true value.

The two cleaners showed up promptly, about 20 minutes after the appointment window began. They worked quickly and kept my newly refinished hardwood floors clean. The inspection took a little longer, but he pointed out that our boiler chimney may not be up to code, as well as inspecting the fireplace chimney. He wrote up estimates for replacing some corner bricks on the chimney, bringing the boiler chimney up to code, replacing the cracked chimney cap, and fixing some missing grout on the side of our front porch. None are urgent, but I think we'll end up completing most of those projects at some point, and would certainly use this company for them.

They were very nice and professional. However they were very very pricey. I was also disappointed that I had two "$100 off a chimney repair" coupon and they refused to honor the second because both jobs were on the same writeup. Despite that they were unrelated jobs and performed on days apart by different crews. If it was by the same crew or on the same day, I could understand it counting as one job. That said, I'm so far happy with the work, however it was very expensive.
