The performance of the J and J team was outstanding. It was an ambitious job involving floor to ceiling tile work, marble benches in the new shower, and full coverage of cement board under it all. Job took about eight days to finish, and the final product was of excellent quality, and J and J's workers were first rate. Getting rave reviews from friends and neighbors, and the other subcontractors working on the project. I would use them again.
- He works really neatly. I had my whole kitchen gutted and installed all new. I had the least clean up to do after Jerry left, compared to all the other contractors who worked on the job.
- He makes sure things are done RIGHT. For example, part of the border was already on the wall (with the listellos beneath to support it) when we decided where the outside strip would be cut off. As it turned out, the last listello would only be about 1.5 inches long. Rather than leaving a goofy looking little piece on the end like that, Jerry pulled out all the listellos he'd already placed, started from the middle and cut the pieces to make sure they were symmetrical.
- I'd asked him to install the travertine chair rail around the circumference of my whole powder room. He said that would stay in place unsupported AS LONG AS NO ONE LEANED ON THE TIILES when they got up from the toilet. He made a special trip to Home Depot (about 45 minutes each way from my house) to buy a special brace/support that could rest under the bottom rails yet not be seen. Perfect solution to a potential problem.
- I think there were times when I tried his patience (actually, I KNOW I did) by asking him to switch things out. I tried to make light of it and remind him that he asked me to stay! But, in any case, he was always very professional and patient ... and successfully implemented ... all my requests.
- I called another tile place in Calvert County and she was pretty rude when I said I had my own tile and I just wanted to pay for the labor of installation. Jerry will do just the labor for you or he can order and pick up tile for you. (I think he actually prefers to do just the labor because he has to go to Virginia to pick up the tiles.) So, if you have your own tile and are afraid to put it in yourself, Jerry is the guy for you!
All in all, I would definitely recommend Jerry to anyone who has a tile job. He does beautiful work.
Oh, and I forgot to mention, he only has one arm! His right arm is missing from about the elbow, and he might introduce himself with something like, and quot; They call me Lefty. I guess you can see why.and quot; So don't be surprised. My husband was dubious that he could do the job with just one arm but, believe me, he can and does!
