I found them on Angie's List. They were very good. They have been working in our community for a while. There are very few companies that are knowledgeable on geothermal HVAC. Our previous company had misdiagnosed a problem and said that we needed to replace our HVAC for $10000. Rowan Heating and Air Conditioning Inc. came in and fixed it for $1000. They really know what they are doing. They were very professional and very thorough. They worked really hard to try to diagnose. They tried to diagnose problems before recommending they replace the unit. They were looking at ways to save us money.

I wanted to get my air conditioning checked early this year due to it being old. I decided to get my furnace done at the same time while I was at it since I never did it last fall. I have used Rowan many times in the past. Their repairman are always very efficient, very friendly and professional. As I mentioned my system is on the older side and it has had things do wrong. Never have they tried to upsell me. They have even gone out of the way to fix a system with the cheapest option which I appreciate. I feel they are an extremely honest company. This time, the repairman came in did a through testing, talked to me about options should I need to replace any time soon and did the job well. My only complaint would be I made this appointment two weeks in advance to make sure I could get in on a day I had off. I was not given an appt time but told I could call the day of in the morning to get an estimate. I was told it would be sometime between 8-4. The day of I called and was informed I was the last appt of the day with the person working in Potomac and VA that day as well. Needless to say he didn't make it till after 4. I understand emergency appts do come up but I did make my appt. well in advance and I wish they would have taken that into consideration. Overall though, I trust this company and appreciate that they are reasonable and honest and would recommend them.

I called for someone to come out and give me an estimate for a new HVAC system. They wanted to charge me a $49 dollar fee for an estimate. How unprofessional. Not only that, but they weren't sure when they would be able to make it out. They acted like it would be an inconvenience to come out, hence why they charge the fee. The woman on the phone explained to me how the person coming out could be working other jobs, which is why they charge. Again, unprofessional. Pretty sure the first rule of customer service isn't to guilt your potential customers. In the same two day period, I had four other companies come out, give me estimates, and I've decided to go with one and get the work done next week. I guess Rowan is way too busy. Good for them in this economy.

Our furnace went out on a night that it was 10 degrees outside. We had no other source of heat in the home for our family and two little kids. We called and them at 8pm and they were VERY courteous on the phone and started by helping us to trouble shoot the situation. When these attempts did not resolve our problem for us, someone came out about an hour later. He figured it out and had the part he needed and we had heat up and running again within 15 minutes. I will definitely call them for all my heating/AC issues in the future and would highly recommend them. Very professional and courteous.

We have used Rowen several times over the past 10 years and have always been very pleased with their service and professionalism as well as their price. The young man that serviced a broken pipe for us last fall truly went above and beyond the call of duty and does business the same way that i do...putting the customer first and giving 150%. Not only was he very knowledgeable in finding several problems he was very honest in identifying exactly what the problem was and not taking advantage of us when he easily could have! He even saw some things that would be a potential issue and brought them to my attention probably saving us hundreds if not thousands of dollars in future repairs. They were simple and easy adjustments that he made and only charged me a couple of bucks for, and some that he recommended that I just do myself. I really fell that this is a company that keeps their customers best interests at hand and I will always use and recommend them. They are one of the most trust worthy businesses that I have had the pleasure to work with.

Overall the job went very well. He was here for about an hour and solved the problem.

Because the furnace had been infiltrated by mice, a Sears service technician had refused to make repairs. Because the mice were in a furnace, exterminators were unwilling to tackle the job. I was finally advised to consult with HVAC companies, and I was very pleased with Rowan's response to my dilemma. Mr. Rowan discussed the problem with me over the phone, and added me to their service schedule for the next day, even though I was a new customer. Jake was professional, prompt, pleasant and courteous, and extremely careful, checking each important safety step along the way as he figured out how to extricate the two mouse nests - not an easy task! I was very pleased with the results, and would certainly call Rowan again for any HVAC need.

We showed him how it was in back of our house and they would have to dig up my whole yard to see where the end of the line was. They put a new line from the furnace pump in to my ceiling and into my laundry area in a stationary tub. The air conditioner is working fine.

They were prompt, courteous and efficient. They did exactly wat they said they'd do. After the installation was complete, they followed up and put a chimney on a heat pump that was located in an enclosed area to improve the air flow and efficiency. It made a huge difference and didn't even charge, which I was amazed by

The initial call to set an appointment was OK, but thereafter the visit to diagnose, the follow up calls and recommendations for next steps, the repair call, were knowledgeable, helpful, respectful and successful. This is a service oriented company with highly skilled employees. I would highly recommend Rowan.

I called the office on Monday and we set up a 3 hour window (9-12) for Wednesday morning (they probably could have come sooner if not for my schedule). The tech would call 1/2 hour before arriving. On Wednesday morning the tech called at 10 and said he'd be there in 15 minutes. He was. Tommy B was the young tech that went over the system rather thoroughly. He was well equipped with modern electronic tools, enthusiastic, and knew what he was doing. He add a pound of refrigerant (which was $99 of the cost). We discussed a number of options to address some issues that may come up as the system ages. The heating system is performing normally again. Based on today's experience I'll be calling Rowan the next time I need HVAC maintenance or repairs.

I called Rowan heating on a cold friday night after our furnace stopped working during the coldest part of the 2010 winter. They were so helpful, patient and empathetic of our situation as no heating companies were open or willing to come out to our home due to the severe road conditions. They walked me through the entire process of figuring out that there was a faulty switch on the furnace which caused it to shut down, for safety purposes. They gave me precise directions on how to by-pass the switch in order for us to have heat through-out the night (and advised us to check on it periodically to make sure it doesn't overheat) and they promised to come out to our location the next day when the road conditions improved. The next day, Nick Rowan showed up to our home and gave me an honest and upfront answer on how to fix the switch. He didn't have the exact switch for our model furnace. Then he proceeded to show me how to remove the old switch and how to install the a new one and recommended that I order the part for $4 and install it on my own. After all his help, he didn't charge us anything for his visit. I ended up ordering a replacement switch online for $4.30 and replaced it after receiving it 3 days later. Companies like Rowan heating and A/C are few and far between and I would absolutely recommend there business to friends and family.

It went really well. I came home from out of town to no air conditioning. By the time I was able to contact any companies it was late on Friday. Rowan wouldn't promise to get me in before Wednesday, but would try to fit me in sooner. They fit me in on Monday. They called me at work as a 30 minute notice that they were able to fit me in. They were at my house about 30 minutes. Diagnosed the problem, fixed it and were very professional the whole time. I would definitely use them again.

I gave the company an A because I think they know what they are doing. My first impression on the phone was good, my first impression in person gave me a few reservations but ultimately I think they did a good job. I got an appointment far more quickly than had I gone to Argent which was my first call. The woman on the phone knew a lot. When I answered my door, the guy that came out smelled strongly of cigarettes. His hands were dirty which made me a bit concerned only because he was going to be touching white doors, window frames and walls. Those are my only complaints. He was clear about what he knew and was good at, and clear about where we'd need to bring in his boss (who he held in high regard!) to give us additional information. He climbed out on our roof on a scorching hot day through a window and when I apologized he minimized it saying he'd done far worse. He gave me a lot of information and helped me explain what I didn't understand (like what a return is). I would recommend them and I will use them again.

The work went as close to perfect as I could imagine. The owner was forthcoming, and he was reasonable at all times. The workers were there when they said they would be, they were dependable, professional and courteous, and they cleaned up after themselves. They worked very well with the other trades, and were done on time and within budget. Any issues were addressed timely and completely resolved. It was one of the smoothest projects I've done.

They're just a fabulous company from top to bottom.

My 1994 a/c stopped producing cool air. I called Rowan and they said to call back in two days because of their heavy schedule. When I called I got service that same day. The employee they sent was professional, knowledgeable, hardworking and very pleasant. He checked all possibiliites of what might be the problem, found it, and fixed it in what I thought was a very timely manner. He also explained what else could go wrong with the a/c and explained the incentives of getting a new a/c. I was very pleased with the work and service.

We are pleased with this company. The crew was very professional and dependable. They will perform big or small jobs and they have flexible hours. We would use them again. They did a great job cleaning everything up when they were finished. I would like to highly recommend them to others.

Everything went smoothly although it took longer than we expected to install. We noticed that our old system wasn't cooling when the season got hot and everyone was turning on their A/C. We called for a service call and they suggested that we check the breaker box first to see if that would solve our problem, which is when we found that the circuit wouldn't hold. When we called back they were able to come out the next day to review the situation and submit a quote for the proposed service. That was on Thursday, we called them back on Friday to set-up the installation and they did the work on Tuesday. They arrived at 9:30 am like they said they would and worked constantly until 6 pm when they were cleaned up and ready to leave. They showed us the work done and gave us a thorough lesson on working the new programmable thermostat. They were very professional and pleasant the whole time.
