Description of Work: Rowan replaced a 20 year old HVAC system at my rental property in Bethesda, Maryland with a brand new 16 SEER Goodman system. My wife and I have been working with them for about that long and they've always been a pleasure to work with: prompt, honest, reliable, flexible, customer-friendly, family-owned business. He always does good work for me.

Description of Work: I called to get a consult and get them to come look at a problem. Jim took the call after hours and spent 30 minutes on the phone with me to help me figure out what course of action to take. In the end HE said, "it isn't in your interest to have me come in there, try ... first." The guy was thoughtful and helpful and that is more than I can say for several other places I have called.

To this day, they have ever tried to contact me to rectify or fulfill their contract.
Description of Work: I had them come and look at my heat pump/air conditioner. They were supposed to dismantle it and clean it (the previous owner never changed the filter). They were also to replace the compressor which was under warranty. They also were to take the pump out and wash it with a special chemical solution. They were supposed to come back in the spring/summer and recalibrate it for the air conditioning. It was all in the contract, and they made me pre-pay for everything. It took me weeks to get them to set up the appointment for return service. The day they were supposed to come, I took off work to stay home during their window (5 hours). When I called them and I was justifiably angry, they hung up on me. They hung up on me three times. They refused to take any calls from me and told me that they did not have to listen to me. Their price was double what the quote was. When I inquired about it, the guy totally blew up at me and told me that I was a mean person.

OUR COMPANY IS A FAMILY OWNED COMPANY WHICH IS IN OUR 3RD GENERATION AND HAS BEEN IN BUSINESS SINCE 1959. OUR REPUTATION AND CUSTOMER SERVICE IS OF MOST IMPORTANCE TO US. WE VALUE OUR EMPLOYEES AND INSTILL OUR VALUES OF CUSTOMER SERVICE IN OUR EMPLOYEES. WE TRIED VERY HARD TO PLEASE THIS CUSTOMER AS WELL AS WE HAVE FULFILLED OUR OBLIGATION TO THIS CUSTOMER. THE INITIAL CALL ON 1/31/2005: UPON ARRIVAL OF THE INITIAL CALL THE FILTERS WERE EXTREMELY CLOGGED TO THE EXTENT THAT THEY WERE VERY DIFFICULT TO REMOVE FROM THE UNIT DUE TO LACK OF CHANGING, THE DRAIN LINES AND COIL WAS COMPLETELY CLOGGED, WHICH CAUSED THE COMPRESSOR TO OVERHEAT AND FAIL. ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS, THIS CUSTOMER WOULD MAKE APPOINTMENTS. WE WOULD GIVE HER A TIME RANGE OF ARRIVAL. IN ADDITION TO THIS, OUR POLICY IS TO CALL THE CUSTOMER PRIOR TO OUR GOING ON THE CALL TO VERIFY SOMEONE WAS HOME OR GIVE THE CUSTOMER ½ HOUR TO 1 HOUR NOTICE TO MEET US. FOR THE MAJORITY OF THESE APPOINTMENTS, SHE WAS UNREACHABLE. ON 2 OCCASIONS, WE WERE ABLE TO REACH HER. SHE SAID SHE WAS ON HER WAY TO MEET US AND DID NOT SHOW UP. THIS CUSTOMER INSINUATED THAT SHE WAS IN A HIGH OFFICIAL GOVERNMENT POSITION AND WE SHOULD ACCOMMODATE HER. OUR ORIGINAL DIAGNOSIS WAS ON 1/31/2005, AND WE WERE ABLE TO FINALLY MAKE THE REPAIR ON 3/28/2005, ALMOST 2 MONTHS LATER. REPAIR CALL 3/28/2005: THE SERVICES WE PERFORMED FOR THIS CUSTOMER WERE INSTALLED A NEW COMPRESSOR, CUT OUT AND REMOVED EVAPORATOR COIL TO CHEMICALLY CLEAN THE COIL WHICH NEEDED TO BE CHEMICALLY TREATED SEVERAL TIMES, REINSTALLED EVAPORATOR COIL, REPAIRED THE DRAIN LINE, AND PRESSURE TESTED THE SYSTEM. THE SYSTEM HELD THE VACUUM AND WAS RECHARGED. THE SYSTEM’S PRESSURES WERE NORMAL, AND THE SYSTEM WAS IN GOOD OPERATION AFTER THESE SERVICES WERE PERFORMED. THE COMPRESSOR WAS UNDER THE MANUFACTURES WARRANTY, BUT WAS LIMITED BECAUSE IT WAS 4 YEARS OLD AND AT THE END OF THE WARRANTY TIME ALLOWANCE. IF THIS COMPRESSOR WAS NOT UNDER MANUFACTURES WARRANTY IT WOULD HAVE COST THE CUSTOMER APPROXIMATELY $2200.00 TO REPLACE THE COMPRESSOR. AFTER THE WORK WAS DONE, BECAUSE WE WOULD NOT REFUND THIS CUSTOMER 50% OF THE AGREEMENT, SHE WAS VERY UPSET. THE TOTAL CHARGE FOR THIS SERVICE WAS $1,200.00, SHE WANTED $600.00 BACK. OUR REPUTATION AND CUSTOMER SERVICE IS OF MOST IMPORTANCE TO US. WE VALUE OUR EMPLOYEES AND INSTILL OUR VALUES OF CUSTOMER SERVICE IN OUR EMPLOYEES. WE TRIED VERY HARD TO PLEASE THIS CUSTOMER AS WELL AS WE HAVE FULFILLED OUR OBLIGATION TO THIS CUSTOMER. UNFORTUNATELY, THERE COMES A TIME WHEN OUT OF RESPECT FOR OUR EMPLOYEES, WE AS THE PRINCIPALS OF THE COMPANY HAVE TO DECIDE WHETHER TO CONTINUE SERVICING A CUSTOMER. WE VALUE OUR CUSTOMERS AND ALSO VALUE AND TRUST OUR EMPLOYEES.
