We have used The North Star Companies for several jobs in the past, with the most recent being the largest. We hired them do a complete renovation of our home in Severn. The job grew larger as demo began and turned into a job requiring the rebuild of exterior walls, demo of concrete slabs - basically the house had to be rebuilt from the ground up. All new plumbing, electric, framing, windows, siding, roof, etc. I have known Chris for 20+ years and was confident that our forever home would be solid and done right. We had a few hiccups throughout the process - as this was done during Covid, so there were supply issues, delays and so forth, but Chris and his guys did an amazing job. We couldn't be happier and are continuously getting compliments on our beautiful home. Chris has been and will continue to be our go-to for any construction needs for us and our family and friends.

Northstar was recommended by a Concierge service. Chris was very professional and knowledgeable. We had an addition added as well as a beautiful sunroom/patio. We also relocated items to allow for more room in our laundry area. His staff was very respectable and competent workers. Though delayed due to the challenges of COVID the end result is beautiful!! Would recommend Northstar without hesitation!!!

On the recommendation of a friend, I contracted North Star Companies for a bathroom and the kitchen/dining area remodel on a 120 year old home. The work included removing an interior wall, gutting the rooms, updating ancient plumbing and electrical fixtures and reinforcing the home with concrete footers. Chris was always available for questions and reviewing work. His crew was very professional, possessed a strong work ethic and left work areas clean every day. When a subcontractor had to make some minor adjustments, Chris kept me updated until the new materials arrived. The result is a gorgeous, transformed home. I rate the quality of the work highly and recommend Chris Marshall and North Star Companies without hesitation.

We are ecstatic about how our basement renovation turned out! When my husband and I met Chris in March 2021, he was very professional and knowledgeable about what it would for our project. The cost estimate he provided was reasonable and we were able to stay in budget. His team was polite and had good work ethic. Chris was very engaged in the entire project and kept us aware of progress and delays. In addition to the project, they included a few other items that really helped us (I.e., electrical socket in the front of house, cable wiring in the living room for better signaling throughout the house)They did great work and we will be using their services for future projects! In 2017 my townhouse was remolded by Northstar Company. I signed the contract, left my house keys with Chris Marshall and left to snowbird for the winter in Florida. Every day when Iâ m back in the house, I marvel on the professional job done. Three years later, Iâ m still getting positive feedback on the remodel. Recently, we noticed the bathroom wall had black mold. I called Chris and he immediately responded to troubleshoot. On a rainy night, he stood on my handrail to look for the leak. We found the problem was caused by water leaking from my neighborâ s roof after cutting a hole in the upstairs ceiling. After his crew, fixed the neighborâ s roof problem and the termite contractor did his work, the ceiling was patched and painted along with the bathroom wall. It looks brand new. Iâ m writing this review to relay that this is a contractor that you can trust even after the contract is completed.

We have used The North Star Companies on several projects this year. They provide exceptional quality and great customer service. Each of the properties they completed sold quickly receiving multiple offers within days of being on the market. I highly recommend The North Star Companies.

If you are looking to hire a contractor for home renovations/ new builds, don t hesitate to hire North Star. I spoke with and met several contractors prior to my major home renovation. Chris knows the business inside and out and is the consummate professional. The total renovation job done on my house was on time, within budget, and looks amazing. There are a lot of contractors out there..... finding a responsive, knowledgeable, professional that is trustworthy and courteous is hard to find. I wouldn t hesitate to hire North Star again!

After dealing with a bad contractor, you really appreciate the good ones. Chris is gold. Being a first-time home buyer I did not know what to expect. He was very realistic and understanding. As a mother of two small children I didn't t but know what specific items would cost and he was very informative and helpful picking items and brands that were quality.

Chris and his team did a superb job in renovating my row house. They are reliable, responsive and do quality work. They have the resources to tackle unexpected issues which surfaced during my renovation. I have near-gut renovated two row houses in NW DC over three years including ambitious basement renovations and I wish I had met Chris Marshall at the beginning of the process with House #1 instead of in the middle of the process with House #2 because he was by far the most professional and responsive of any of the nearly two dozen contractors I probably interviewed in some shape or form over 2 years. His quotes were timely and the most detailed, and when I did the math it was actually cheaper to use Chris than to use contractors with much lower quotes because I invariably had to go back and rehire someone new to fix problems left by the cheap guy. The North Star's workmanship can't be better, the crews were professional and tidy, and the prices were actually right in the middle where they ought to be. (I was trying to go super cheap at first). I think the before/after pics for House #2 speak for themselves. I'm hoping to pull equity from this home to purchase House #3 in 2019 and I'm already envisioning using Chris for that project too. Professional, reliable, trustworthy, very knowledgeable, good value for the money. I'm sorry I didn't meet him sooner.

We recently hired Chris Marshall and the NSC, LLC Team to complete a TOTAL renovation of our dream home. Chris and his team FAR exceeded our expectations, the quality and workmanship of what they delivered speaks volumes about this company. Our home is absolutely gorgeous and the envy of the neighborhood. Chris helped us make major decisions and gently guided us around keeping our wants inline with our budget, which I am sure was a struggle at times. He was super timely, considerate, informative and just the OPPOSITE of everything we had ever heard related to hiring a contractor. He completed the entire renovation in 90 days; we moved in on 12/23 as promised giving my family the best Christmas present EVER!!!

When I first met Chris, I was interested in moving from a apartment to house. A friend showed me their house and the finished renovation of his house and it was beautiful. I soon got in touch with Chris to act as my realtor and then renovator! As a first time homebuyer it took me over a year to find that house. Some houses I had lost out on the bidding but I'm glad I found this beautiful home. This house required a total remodel - bathrooms were remodeled, closets were added to bedrooms, crawlspace was conditioned and encapsulated; new furnace installed with new central heating an air conditioning, new propane fireplace installed, tankless water heater installed, new carpeting and beautiful hardwood floors! All new windows were installed and brand new doors. Chris has suggested that i get the antique white paint for the main living quarters of the house. However, after I saw in my old apartment light I wasn't pleased with it. I went to meet Chris to make the selections to pick out the shower, and flooring for my laundry room and kitchen! (Its a lot of fun! Its like being on HGTV without the cameras!) Chris wanted to show a house that had the fixtures for the bathrooms and when we entered I noticed the beautiful paint and mentioned it to...he said it was the antique white! So take from this, just go with what he suggests! There was one surprise that came out of no where when the door rim board below the back door was found to be rotten because it was leaking. Unfortunately it wasn't noticed in the home inspection. The floor joists were repaired because of water intrusion and rot. After the remodel, I got numerous compliments on how beautiful the house looked and people inquired about who was my contractor....I was very happy to say its was Chris Marshall of North Star and for them to contact him. Its taken me a long time (over a year and half) to get my review written. Before I wrote mine I noticed a few people that Chris showed my house to after the renovation to show his work, have also had their projects completed and their reviews done! I'm happy to see that they were very please with the work done in my house that they stayed with Chris and his company to have their own beautiful home! We have a new construction home and wanted to have a wet bar constructed where the rough-in plumbing existed. I reached out to multiple vendors and also contacted The North Star Companies. We quickly got a response to have an in-home meeting to talk about the project and get a rough estimate. Working with Chris Marshall was a great experience, even if our small-ish project took place during the busy summer months when many people are completing home construction/renovation projects with much larger scopes. Chris was attentive, very helpful and kept his team on track to get the project completed. If there ever was an issue, even a minor one, Chris and his team quickly addressed it. We'll use his services again when we have any other home construction projects!
