They were fine. The initial inspection went really well. The man came out and did what he was supposed to do. I did have some damage to the door, they did come out and replace some panels. I wouldn't have done it if the gentleman hadn't done the service that he did. I needed 17 feet and they came in at 18 feet. Then came in again, they were supposed to be foam colored, but came in as white.
Description of Work: Precision Garage Doors Incorporated did an inspection and replaced some panels. Part of the cost was a big deal purchase. The first visit they did a tune-up because, it was making a horrible noise.

I said the price was a B. I don't mean that as a criticism. I think the price was very fair and quite frankly they honored coupon that gave me a pretty good discount on the whole thing. I only say "B" because it was more expensive that I has planned on but I do think the amount was a fair price and....the best part about it, everything is fixed correct and my garage is running smooth as silk. Barry, my service technician was very busy and trying to make it back safely home before Snowzilla hit and I greatly appreciate him being out and about that day. Not only did Barry fix what needed fixing, he identified some loose nuts on the door hinges that I had not noticed

The technician, Barry, was fantastic. He is prompt, friendly, and professional. He is also very knowledgeable about what he does and good at explaining it. It was easy to set up an appointment and the company is responsive. I'd use them again. Just be better mentally prepared for the prices vs. what you may see in forums or for just the parts on-line.
Description of Work: Replaced garage door torsion spring ($250). Also replaced cables (one got frayed from becoming bound in the pulley when spring broke, but they don't do singles, only pairs) - ($100 total, $50 each). It was also recommended that I replace the Center Bearing ($50). Add in an additional labor to better secure a mounting area from the original installers of the doors years ago ($40) and a service call fee ($50) and the final price left me a little sticker shocked.

I'm not happy at all with how much I was charged to do a repair of the garage door spring that broke. I was charged $600+ to do the job of putting in two new Springs ($240 each) plus labor. With the 10% Angies List discount, it came down to a total of $541.50 Comments on website and Anglie's list state that the cost of this repair should not be over $200 on average. I do not recommend using this company for this type of service.

Our office manager left a message for you to call us to discuss. We use only high powered quality springs, and you were not charged in excess. Our parts are warrantied and our technicians are highly trained. The reviews you read were not of the same repair that was performed by our technicians on your door. You did get a discount, but we can offer the 10%. Please call our office manager to discuss at 301.617.0807. Thank you.

This was a good service appointment. Rick arrived 2 hours early after verifying via phone that that would be OK. On arrival, a safety check yielded a sales pitch around various additional parts that could be replaced or repaired, including a premium package deal that included replacement of other parts. The package deal was around $600 and as I've read here wouldn't have been able to have the Angie's List discount applied to it. I discussed with the technician about just wanting the springs replaced, and he was able to apply the Angie's List discount to just that service. The service took 45 minutes. After the service, Rick mentioned that the rollers may have an issue and that we should apply silicone spray to them every two months, or consider replacing them in the future. He also gave a basic garage door maintenance safety brief, ensuring I don't hurt myself should I try the repair myself. The B rating is due to price and a communication issue I experienced. On price, the cost of $120 per spring with no cheaper option was unexpected. I would have preferred to have installed far cheaper springs such as ones that can be bought at the neighborhood home store for $15 for two. I would have asked Precision to install these without warranty. I did have an issue with Precision regarding the re-use of replacement springs that I had purchased. In a previous appointment, a technician told me that Precision would replace using springs that I purchased. I was told that this is not the case and that other technician must have misspoken.
Description of Work: Replaced two 110-pound garage door extension springs. One had broken, and the other was replaced to match up with it as is a standard practice.

We contacted Precision Garage Doors to install a numerical touchpad outside our garage door. The company scheduled our repair at a convenient time and sent us an email ?reminder?. The Precision serviceman called in advance and arrived on time. He was both professional and very informative. He quickly and efficiently installed a numerical touchpad. He also spent some time explaining how the unit functioned in addition to a few other aspects of our garage door system. Although the installation of the touchpad turned out to be fairly simple and straightforward, our experience with Precision Garage Doors turned out to be very positive. We would definitely call them again if the need arose.

Their sale's pitch was impressive; Impressive enough to select them among 4 others installer. But that's exactly what it was; just a sale's pitch. Today, within a year it fell off; all by itself, no hit, no blow, nothing. The technician came, started blaming on almost everything for this damage, explaining how the warranty wont' be covering anything Talk about the excuses. But the main thing that is worrisome is his dishonesty; he talked about cable and coil breakage and quoted us $175 for the parts and labor. My wife, though not convinced, couldn't argue much with a screwed businessman. We didn't'/couldn't' avail his service. And what do I find hours later; the cable had come off the wheel, which had tripped the door panel off its track. Put everything back and started working within minutes. If you want to go with this company for your new garage door, be my guest. But remember, anyone can promise the sky during sale, the main question is if they will follow through. @Precision-Garage-Doors-Inc-of-Central-Maryland won't; either because their technicians are incompetent or dishonest or both. r

jumped a year later. If there was defective workmanship, it would have happened right away. There must have been an issue with something getting in the way. That being said, we would honor the warranty. The technician called our office to explain that you were unhappy with the labor and service charge. We lowered the labor charge, but you did not want to pay that. This is a standard practice, because it costs us time and labor to drive to your home and make the necessary repairs, and pay our technician. Our manager will contact you to explain this to you. Our technicians are highly trained, and we are not dishonest. We have thousands of totally satisfied customers.

When leaving for work Thursday morning, a cable on my garage door mechanism snapped. I jumped online to Angieslist and reviewed the various contractors available. Precision stood out with a large number of reviews and an A rating for quality and no worse than most others for price. It was also close to my house. I called about 8:00 am concerning repair and was led through several questions regarding the situation and was told a person come between 10 and 12 (much smaller timeframe than some). At about 9:20, Barry called and stated he could be there at about 9:40; however being at work I could not get home in time. He agreed to meet at 10. Upon arriving he reviewed the door problem, looked over the remainder of of the mechanism and discussed with me the options. He went over the pricing for each option as well as the details of the work. Since the door and mechanism were at least 23 years old, I agreed that a complete overhaul of the mechanism would be appropriate to avoid near future issues. He informed me it would be about an hour; however it turned out to be more like 45 - 50 minutes. He then went over in the detail the work he performed and reiterated the 5 year warranty on parts. At about 11 am, all was done and I returned to work happy that it had only taken about two hours out of my day. I was very satisfied with the service and would definitely use them again.
Description of Work: Barry from Precision Garage Door repaired my garage door open/close mechanism. The cable had snapped that morning. He arrived promptly and reviewed the situation. He reviewed with me his take on the entire mechanism and recommended a complete overhaul. Since the mechanism was at least 23 years old, I agreed with that assessment and to the terms of the work. He performed this work within the time quoted (1 hour) and went over in detail what he had done. It appeared to be a very good job.

JR came to my house to provide an estimate for a new garage door and garage door opener with installation. He went over his products with me and was able to explain the difference between the various products and the technology the each product uses. He was very helpful and got back in a couple days with an excellent estimate. I had him schedule installation at a time that was convenient for me and the workman came out and installed the new door, opener and removed all the old materials. What an improvement. I was very happy with the work that was performed and had them do another home that I own. This time it was 3 garage doors and 3 openers. Again, I was very happy with the price and the workmanship. Well done!

Installation was completed in one day without issues. After about four months one door started to squeak loudly. Even though it was under warranty I was charged $50 to have them come out and fix. It was a minor fix and I thought this should have been under warranty. My only complaint to this date.

I'm hoping the technician took the time to explain the difference in spring sizes and durability. We only use high-quality springs with more than 3 c the lifespan of others. The person giving you an estimate is giving you the cost of one spring, plus the service call, not for two. The size of springs needed for your door is also a factor.

They were very good. They were really good and recommended that the type of motor that we had originally wasn't strong enough for a double size door. We have one single door for a two car garage, very, very heavy, and they installed a motor that's really nice and - wait a minute, I'm going back too far, that's like two years ago. They came more recently and the main spring that was original equipment, broke. I can certify to you that they get straight As and everything was good.

I am conflicted about this one. Bought the big deal and contacted the company to make appt. They sent a technician out the next day to do the work. While he was there we discovered a bigger issue in that the door itself was cracked and would need replacement. This was not a bait and switch. We had noticed a problem with the door over several days and the tech Barry found the problem right away. He suggested that we request a refund on the big deal as we would be getting new rollers with the new door and only charged me a $49.95 service call. He also contacted the sales person to get me a quote on a new fully insulated door. My husband and I discussed the problem and within a couple of hours I called the company back to order the door. I was told the salesman would call me back. The next morning I could barely get the door open as the problem Barry had pointed out had only gotten worse with the door opening and closing. I called the company again on my way to work and explained that we needed to go forward as soon as possible as the door had now failed completely. I gave them several numbers where I could be contacted and they said someone would get back to me. There is the problem - it has been almost 48 hours and I have not heard a thing from the sales person. In the meantime, I have a broken garage door that I can barely open even manually. Apparently I am going to have to call other companies. So, basically, while they have exceptional service technicians (have had service with them several times) there sales department is somewhat lacking. Or maybe they are just sooo busy that they don't need to follow up with a customer who has an immediate problem. I felt I needed to add something to this review after reading the company's response. According to the response, I was given the number to call and that they never heard from us. I guess they didn't actually read my review because it specifically says that I called the company the same day the tech was out and I called again the next morning and gave them several numbers to contact me that day. I also told them that our garage door was no longer functioning and needed a call as soon as possible. Both times I was told the sales rep would get back to me. The first time we got a call was four days later. By that time I had called another company who came out within two hours, gave me a quote that was actually less for the same door and then set up an installation date on a time frame that worked with my schedule. When I told the rep that we had gone with another company, all he said was "oh, okay" He was not apologetic about the delay and didn't seem too concerned about losing a $1400 sale. It would be nice if the company actually followed up with a dissatisfied customer ( we had used them before) instead of trying to make themselves look good by misstating facts at the customers expense. You have lost a future customer!!

Within one half hour of their leaving the garage doors were not working. Using the new remotes, the garage doors would only go down about one foot and then go back up. I called the technician who was here and told him I had a problem. He told me to "fiddle" around with it! I told him he knew, I had to use a cane, and I was not going to "fiddle" around with it! I asked him to return, but he refused. I then called Overhead Garage Doors. They came to the house and said there was no lubrication on any of the garage opener components. They also said that Precision has done this in the past. When they see a car with out of state plates, they say they are going to fix everything, but do nothing. The Overhead Garage Door technician said he used to work for Precision, but left because he was told to do nothing when seeing out of state plates! They charged me $227.00, did absolutely nothing and refused to return within one half hour of leaving my home!
Description of Work: I just bought this house and the automatic garage doors needed servicing and a new code. They sold me new remotes. They said they were going to lubricate the garage door's moving parts.

On Thursday, April 2 at 3pm Precision Door Garage technician "Gary" Arrived for appointment to program our new SUV remote control with garage door opener. Upon opening the garage several times he begin trying to force the opening mechanism while the garage was open and BROKE the timing chain. Realizing that the garage would no longer open or close with automation, he advised my husband we needed new springs. Ten minutes later he said we needed an entire NEW garage opener. We could not believe it, note, the garage was fully and properly opening upon his arrival. We challenged him, called his company and begin to get the run around. First we spoke with Michael, Shift Manager? (Not sure if this the right title) who informed us that before Gary does anything to our/any garage he must advise us that he has to check 25 points inspection by LAW. We explained NO ONE ever mentioned that to us, because we called only to have the SUV remote programmed, nothing else. Further, we advised Gary of what Michael said and he said, he knew nothing about it being a law but Precision wants them to do it. We then researched the law and found NOTHING and NO truth to such inspection or law. After, realizing Michael was lying, he then put Derrick Easterday, General Manager, who stuck by their story/lie advised that they needed to speak with the owner. At this point, Gary has spent a half hour or more in his truck talking on the phone. He advises that the owner, Harry Hall would like to offer us a discount on the the garage opener. By now we are not interested in Precision doing anything. They have proved to be incompetent and DISHONEST. We do not TRUST them. I asked to speak with the owner, Harry, Gary goes back to the truck and beginning talking on the phone again. Finally, advising us that there would be no charge and he was just leaving. Precision Door Garage, INCOMPETENT, DISHONEST, DO NOT TRUST.

We have already responded to this concern,. We listened to the call, and noted that the 25 point inspection was mentioned to the customer. It is what we do on every job. He was not told it was the law, simply our policy. The technician did not break the opener. He inspected the door and parts, and noted the springs were worn, The opener was having to lift 30-40 pounds vs the normal 6-8 pounds. The opener was over 14 years old and worn. The technician never touched the opener. He only opened the keypad cover. We offered him a huge discount on a new opener, since his had failed, but he refused.
