The contractor did a great job of replacing fixtures, designing the new finishes, and executing the work. They are very friendly and respectful of the property. The take care to avoid a mess.

The company was requested to fix a malfunctioning gas fireplace for an investment property housing tenants during the cold spell earlier this year. Their technician visited, vacuumed the unit, said that parts (the complete pilot assembly + additional parts) would be needed and that they would get back to me with a price. I followed up with them almost every day for the next few days as the tenants were asking that the unit be fixed immediately and was informed that the technician hadn't filed the paperwork. Finally, the company called and left a message that they were unable to quote a price as they did not have the part details. I called back and was informed that their technician had not noted the details of the parts to be ordered during his visit. They asked that I identify the parts for them so that they could provide a price (which I was unable to provide as the tenant could not identify or find the relevant information on the parts). I informed the company that we couldn't get the part details as it wasn't visible and we definitely were not going to try disassembling a gas fireplace on our own, at which point they offered to send the technician again at almost $180/hour with the commute time also billable. Considering that it was their tech's oversight, I did not think I should have been asked to pay again and also not knowing how long the commute from the previous appointment would be it appeared to be a very open-ended price. At that point I decided to find a different and preferably more professional company to do the job. The other company that I found was rated highly on AL and completed the job perfectly and professionally with no issues (they will be receiving a very positive review). The other company also did not ask me to replace the more expensive pilot assembly and replaced only a couple of minor defective parts and fixed the issue at a much lower cost. Considering that I had received no service benefit from this company I requested a refund through my credit card company, I exchanged a few emails with the owner of Day or Night Home & Hearth, who was unable to understand the issue and kept circling around the fact that their company had done the research and had called me for parts information. The owner even claimed that they had provided me with pricing on the parts. Luckily I was able to retrieve their own voicemail stating that pricing could not be provided due to lack of parts information and I shared that message audio file with the owner. The voicemail clearly stated that they were unable to provide the pricing until the parts make/model were identified. The owner came back claiming to stand by the employee's version essentially implying that as a customer I was wrong despite having provided the actual voicemail to that effect. It appeared that the owner was unable to understand that customers pay in return for the actual service received. The owner claimed that the company spent time researching the parts for which they should be paid - which I proved was not possible since they had themselves indicated that they failed to collect the necessary information needed to research and identify the parts. There were also false claims that I was offered different options such as buying the parts myself or have another company do the job - again not possible as the part details were not known. I challenged them more than once to provide the date that they claimed when they had contacted me and made such an offer to which I received no direct response. On my part I had phone records available to support my incident timeline and a record of my contact with them). I felt that either the owner did not have all the facts from their employees or was unable/unwilling to understand the issue. Thankfully, the credit card company reviewed the evidence and after a couple of rounds of additional evidence, issued a refund so I was able to get my money back. My recommendation - if you choose to use this company , make sure that you do not sign their work ticket that the job was completed satisfactorily until you are in fact sure that their visit was indeed productive and the job has been completed. I personally have no intention of using this company ever again but based on some of the other reviews on AL, I may have had an out of ordinary bad experience but you may have better luck. Just make sure that you verify the work is indeed completed to satisfaction before signing any documents. Trust but verify.

They were very clean. They put down a mat in front of the fireplace. They took out every part, cleaned it and put it all back. They were very efficient. The interaction was good.

It was very good. We bought a lifetime maintenance on it. They are on time. They do a terrific job and I've had no problems with them. I wouldn't recommend anybody else.

They did exactly what they said they were going to do. They even made it out in a massive snow storm and made it down our driveway. The insert was a difficult fit but they did it. They were very attentive whenever we called them for a follow up or whatever. The work was excellent. Their price was competitive.

It was good. They came out and did it as scheduled. The young man was very courteous. He cleaned up after himself. Different times I've had questions about the stove and I've called the lady and she has always been able to help me so they are pretty good. The price was fair. I would recommend them because of price, understanding my needs and continuing to serve me even after it was bought and installed. The locality is pretty close.

I would definitely use them. They are very knowledgeable, professional and reliable. They show up in a timely fashion. My home was clean when they were done. They put on shoe covers when they came in my home. I highly recommend them.

They were great. They did a good job. We had trouble finding them at first because everybody we contacted just wanted to clean out the chimney and that wasn't what we wanted. The guy they sent was good. He knew what he was doing. It was a good experience. He was the best.

Job took two days to complete, one less than original estimated. First day was removing the old brick fireplace front (not veneer like many modern homes), cutting and installing the new stone veneer fireplace front, and cutting and installing the new stone hearth. Total time was about 9 hours. Day two was installing the stainless steel chimney liner. This took a bit longer than anticipated as my fireplace had a very tight offset throat. The new fireplace insert was also installed. The technicians were very professional and polite, and did a fair job of cleaning up the dust (although it does get just about everywhere). Final product was as good or better than anticipated.

We paid for their estimate. It took over a week to get a written estimate after they visited our home. They provided overall estimates without any cost breakdown. There was a lack of specifics and no details about their service plan. When I requested prices for the mantle, permits, service plans, etc, I was told they do not itemize. The estimate did not describe how the fireplace would be vented or how the flue would be capped. The total price was nearly $15,000 which was significantly higher than other estimates we received. We selected another contractor due to the lack of specifics and the price.

Communication was prompt. Pat came out to look at the setup in my basement to be able to give me an accurate quote. Once we agreed on price, the appointment was scheduled within a week. The gentlemen who came out to perform the work were on time and very polite.

While we found the company to be professional, we thought repair estimate was pricey. We ended up contacting original installer and home builder since house was less than 4 yrs old and was able to troubleshoot the issue at no cost.Thus we never actually hired this provider or any others for this repair service. However, if we ever decide to replace fireplace, we will consider this provider.

Day and night were extremely helpful and did a wonderful job of setting up our pellet burning insert. The results were more expensive than a cheaper alternative, but you get what you pay for. We highly recommend them.

it went well, there was some issue with the measurements of the surround that required another service visit to complete the install, but all in all a good install and reasonable value.

The representative arrived on time and was very professional. He protected the surrounding areas of the gas fireplace with a blanket. He carefully removed the glass panel and gas logs and cleaned and inspected the entire unit. After everything was put back into place, it looked like I had a brand new fireplace! I will definitely use this company again!

The job went as planned. From the assistance in the showroom in selecting a model and pricing the job to the final testing of the fireplace the entire staff and techs were very professional. It was a great experience and no hassles.

The service men arrived on time and took all steps to protect the house putting down tarps and vacuuming regularly to prevent debris from getting into the family room. They gently took down the existing mantle and pulled out all of the marble that surrounded the fireplace insert. They dissembled the fireplace insert and old cap putting in the new flue and cap. They installed the new granite surround and the new fireplace insert pellet stove. They also delivered a 1/2 ton of pellets storing it in the garage on a pallet where I had made space. After the install and reattaching the mantle they took the time to review the controls with and and showed me how to clean the entire stove. They oversaw me filling the hopper and helped me to make the settings based on my needs. They stayed to ensure everything was working well and left the house clean. Both service men were very friendly and willing to answer any questions. They knew what they were doing and were very familiar with the product. For the first time since we moved into the house over 12 years ago we are truly happy with the fireplace insert we have. Both the installation and purchase experience were excellent and I would gladly recommend the product and Day or Night Home and Hearth to anyone.

They show up on time. They are very thorough and do a good job.

As it turned out the issue wasn't completely resolved during the first visit. They sent out another technician at no charge and he fixed the remaining problem. I will definitely use them in the future.

The service went really well. There is a lot that goes into a job like this so the communication began a few months ago. They have a great showroom and are very knowledgeable on their products. Their Gas Fireplace units are able to be tested in the showroom and will look exactly the same when installed. The first most important part was finding a unit within our budget and fit the functionality of our home and the firebox. Day Or Night worked with us through the whole process to find the best unit for our needs. The next important part was the install. I wanted a company that not only sold the unit but installed the gas pipes to the unit. Their job was clean and looks great as if it was always there. I could not be more pleased with the installation process. Day or Night provided us with excellent service at a very fair price. I would not want to leave this type of a job up to a company that does not specialize in this type of work, I wanted family owned and operated and this was great. I highly recommend. Do be sure to plan ahead of time because it will take patience to get the order placed and scheduled for an install. Do not look for a company that wants to rush through this type of job. It takes planning and coordination to have a clean and safe job and Day or Night were the perfect people for the job. Thanks guys!

They were great! I got them off of Angie's List so I figured they would be good. They got here on time, they were real clean, that is important to have someone that won't wreck your carpet.

UPDATE: Upon appeal, Mr. SEaton brought in an attorney (despite probably having to pay her more than he would have had to pay me to rectify his mistake). She successfully got the case dismissed on a technicality...that the statute of limitations had expired. Even the appeals court judge seemed to feel Mr. Seaton had simply lucked out and expressed his disappointment that the technicality required him to dismiss the case. Mr. Seaton clearly has no integrity. He made a huge mistake, jeopardizing me and my family and costing me $4,000 to rectify, yet he didn't have the decency to pay even the $2,000 I originally asked for to split the cost of fixing his mistake and never even apologized. No way I'd trust him or his company to do work on my home again. UPDATE: After a year of delays (mostly prompted by Mr. Seaton at Day or Night), my small claims court case against Day or Night was heard a few weeks ago and I was awarded a judgement against Day or Night. Howver, Mr. Seaton is continuing to delay and has appealed the judgment, despite the clear evidence presented and the extremely low chance that the judgment would be reversed. BEWARE. This company installed a pellet stove and chimney liner for me which violated safety codes and endangered my family. It has been unwilling to take the necessary steps to fix the situation. Stove and chimney liner were installed in March, 2010, after I paid for an in-home consultation with Jerry Seaton, the owner of the company to determine if the stove could be properly and safely vented. I was assured that yes, the stove could be installed and used safely and the installation appeared to go very well. However, in summer, 2013 , I was made aware of the extremely dangerous circumstances which Day or Night had exposed my family to for the past three years. When a new hot water heater and boiler were installed, the company I selected to do that work informed me that they were unable to complete the job by installing the necessary new chimney liner to vent the two new appliances. Apparently, Day or Night had filled the sole chimney in the house with the liner for the pellet stove. This meant that the previous hot water heater and boiler were being vented in the same chimney as the pellet stove (against code). Worse, they were vented solely around the edges of the pellet stove liner -- that is between the liner and the original chimney walls. Obviously, this left my family at a very high risk of carbon monoxide poisoning and it is sheer luck that no tragedy ensued. I have been in contact with Day or Night, seeking their financial assistance in installing a separate flue for the boiler and hot water heater, leaving the pellet stove flue undisturbed. They have argued however, that what they did was their "standard practice" and that they do not have any responsibility for rectifying the situation. In all my previous dealings with Jerry Seaton, I had been pleased with his apparent professionalism. All of that is for naught, however, as it has become clear that the company's standard practice was not adequate. Their installation of the chimney liner did not meet code and placed my family in grave danger . It was a mistake and not deliberately shoddy practice. But it was a hugely serious mistake and Day or Night has refused to take responsibility for fixing it. Mr. Seaton refused my suggestion that Day or Night pay one-half of the cost of having a new flue installed so that both the pellet stove and my boiler could be properly vented. Over the course of several months of negotiations and discussions, he frequently didn't return calls, repeatedly delaying my efforts to get the situation fixed before cold weather set in. He offered to pay $1,000 of the $3,800 cost, but even when I reluctantly accepted this offer in order to get the work done, he delayed for several more weeks. Before Day or Night would issue me a check for the $1,000 it required me to sign a document waiving my right to take any future action against them, and it took several weeks for them to send me that document. By that time, I had concluded that the company had no real intention of ever helping me pay for the needed fix. It was fall, cold weather was coming and I needed to get my new boiler vented so that i could run it to heat the house. So I ended up paying for the new flue myself and taking Day or Night to small claims court for reimbursement. All told...a dangerous situation and a royal pain in the butt It really shook my confidence in the company and I wouldn't use them again. Adding insult to injury, Day or Night never even apologized.

The showroom for Day and Night was exceptional with a great selection of gas logs in all sizes and configurations. There were many options available to choose from with all types of flames and/or heat options. Terrace, my salesman, was so helpful and professional. There were also many choices on the types of fireplace screens that are available. Showroom very neat and clean and well organized. I had at least 1 hour with Terrance to make my decisions and we were not interrupted during that time. He scheduled an inspection to be done at my home and that was done within the week. Very prompt and the technician who came to the house was very knowledgeable and answered all my questions. I had a final quote for the installation by the next day. WOW! I was really impressed and I expect to have the gas logs installed shortly.

It went very well. They were very professional and quick. The price was reasonable.
