All State Paving

Adam is the owner/operator so he not only did the estimate but was on site throughout the job. He and his professional and friendly crew did a great job, including finding a creative solution for a natural spring that runs under our driveway. A very good experience overall.

The guys did a great job, showed up on time, finished on time, were professional and cleaned up everything. I was very pleased with the service.

I called them on 30 November 2012 to request a site visit and estimate. Adam showed up the next day, and after a five minute look and three minute haggling, we agreed on the price. Adam was very knowledgeable and immediately knew what needed to be done. He explained in detail what he would need to do, including the cutting and repaving of my driveway entrance. Then they showed up five days later, did the work in ninety minutes. These guys are experienced, no-nonsense, and didn't try to nickel and dime me. I'm so tired of contractors working in worthless expenses or unneeded work. Adam and his guys know the job, get it done, and stick to the agreed work. They will stay in my contact list and I highly recommend them.

Family business. Mother met me at my home to evaluate my driveway. I was very impressed with her obvious experience, expertise and honest assessment. Her sons came and performed job as promised. Everything turned out exactly as she described. I would not hesitate to hire this company again, and I recommend them with no reservations.

I wanted to use the company to coat my driveway, but I did not realize that I needed more than simply a clearcoat. Our driveway is old, worn and full of cracks. The gentleman who came to do the work informed us that our driveway needed to be replaced and that it would be a waste of money to clearcoat it. I appreciated his honest assessment. He did not try to persuade us or talk us into having the replacement done by his company. In fact, he only gave us an estimate of cost for replacement when we asked for it. I appreciated that also. My reservations about future use of this company is that it took phone tag over a few days to set the schedule for the appointment. The first scheduled had to be rescheduled due to unexpected issues with an earlier assignment. Then the weather posed a problem, as the treatment needed 24 hours to dry, if done. Also, regarding the date of last contact, I am not sure. I just know that it was this past spring or early summer 2012.

They were very responsive, especially in light of the fact that they were apparently overwhelmed during the promotion. The job was adequate, but a little sloppy in some small places, and seemed skimpy to me (I could be wrong about that because I don't really know what to expect from a reseal alone). We weren't "dissatsified" with it as a promotion, but felt we probably paid close to full price in the end, and it just wasn't that great. I don't think we would use them again.

Frankly angie, its a pain in my butt to leave this review. These guys did a great job seal coating my driveway. They did not perform brain surgery on me. Jeesh.

They were neat and cleaned up well when finished. I thought that they could have resprayed it again to fill in a lot of the spider cracks, but they did not. I think that it would have been a better job if they had done this, but it was still ok.

Above says it all. They were just awful and totally unprofessional.

They called me first and stated what day that they would be at my home. I told them that it wouldn't work for me on that date. Eventually, I got a date that worked for both of our schedules but it was much farther out than I would have liked. When they came to my home, the deal turned out to not be what I considered a good deal. My driveway needed extra and the remaining balance was high. I received a refund for my deal.

We were not home to meet the people who did the job but it was done professionally. They called us the day before the job was done. Also called to reschedule because of the hurricane, and were very apologetic.

This firm was responsive and punctual throughout the process of an estimate and performing the work. He made minor adjustments to his plan at our request, with no additional charge. From the time he originally scheduled the job (weeks in advance), there was only a day change due to bad weather delaying other jobs, and we were notified of that change in advance. The finished driveway is attractive and we are pleased with the work.

The crew showed up on the date and time scheduled. They completed the job veryprofessionally, quickly and efficiently and departed without leaving any mess for me to deal with .Both times I have hired All State I have been very satified with their service.

I didn't realize they would be using an oil-based sealant and it has made the driveway a little slippery. In the past when I've had other companies do this sort of thing, they've trimmed or blown the grass from the edges of the drive prior to applying the seal-coating, but All State Paving did not. I didn't think that was very professional.

they came on the promised date, they did a beautiful job. They caused minor damage to our fence, which they promptly repaired. The hot asphalt injured some plants, they authorized a hold-back of funds for replacement of plants.

The company came out prepared to work but informed me that my driveway required more than the services being offered for the coupon. They were professional and courteous. I would consider them when I am prepared to pay for a larger job.

It took him a couple of weeks to come out. When He got there he explained that my driveway had been done with latex before and the deal was offering an oil based coating. He said that it would take alittle extra time for him to start the job, but when I called them to say that I still wanted the service and they said that I was on the list. However, they have still put off the service and said that once they get to it, it would be too cold. I have decided to cancel the serives.

The owner was great. The original time he came to do the work the pollen was still coming off the trees and he offered to come back after that was done so that the pollen would not fall on the new paving job. I thought this was very customer service oriented of him. Would definitely recommend him to others.

They came out to provide an estimate in case the square footage was over the specified limit - it wasn't, just under I was told. They explained that they had had a huge response to the big deal posting so depending on weather it could be a while before they could do the work. I wasn't in a rush and did not see that as a problem since it was communicated up front. Work was done well and as expected.

I called to request an estimate for driveway sealing. I told the lady that the area was 310-320 sq yards, based upon two separate field measurements, one by the engineer and one by the original paver. She said she was not accustomed to thinking in sq. yards, so I did mental arithmetic and told her roughly 2900 sf (so they would know it was not some 500 sf job). I also explained that it was on a panhandle, that the section to be paved began 150 ft off the road, and that it should be obvious that it was the most recently paved. She did call me back on two subsequent days, each time saying that the estimator "might" be in my area that day, but evidently he was not. A few days later I did find an estimate in my mailbox. I know that this is common practice, since estimators on residential jobs usually would rather measure & split without getting into conversations with the property owner, but it this case it raises some questions. At first glance I was shocked to see how much lower AllState's price was. Then I looked closer at the numbers and did the arithmetic. The AllState estimate said for 2000 sf! Doing the arithmetic, the price per sf was precisely the same as the competing estimate to 4 decimal places. Obviously this estimate could not be correct, but it is not clear to me where the 2000 sf number came from, or if the estimator even measured the drive or if he did, what he omitted. Since it was left in the mailbox, it must have been written on site. ????? By this time, I had already committed to another contractor, so there was no point in discussing this estimate, which was entirely inconsistent with the actual job, but considering the size and reputation of AllState I am totally bemused at the sloppiness and apparent lack of professionalism I encountered. While I would at least consider them for future work, I would want a better response/interaction -- and definitely run the numbers!

All State Paving got right back to me after I purchased the Angies list big deal and scheduled me for my next available convenient date. They showed up on time and since my driveway is bigger than the coupon called for, the owner quoted me a comparable price to do my entire driveway. He quickly got to work, did a great job and then checked out with me giving me tips on how to make my driveway last longer. I am very happy with the workmanship and will use this company again soon.

Honesty and professional service; that's what makes a company that people want to recommend. All State Paving quoted me a price of $3100 for replacing my driveway and installing a parking pad along side of the house. We recently had a tree removed from along side the house and had the stump ground to allow for the installation of a parking pad. The tree removal was completed by another company, not All State Paving. Due to a mix up (my fault) All State quoted me a price for a much smaller parking pad than I wanted. When they arrived to perform the job, a new quote of $3300 was given. I found this very reasonable considering I was asking to add an additional 11' x 10' area to the parking pad. Soon after work began it became clear that the stump from the removed tree along side the house was not properly ground. The stump was ground to about three inches under the dirt but an extra several inches of stump remained that had to be excavated in order to properly install the parking pad. My wife, who was home at the time was able to observe several All State workers laboring to dig the stump out of the ground. It was so big that the laborers were taking pictures of the stump with their phones! After about two hours of incredibly hard work, the owner knocked on our door and explained the changed situation. We had heard from several asphalt companies that stump removal would be extra and/or we would have to do it ourselves, so I was not surprised when my wife called to tell me that All State was notifying us that they had to increase the price of the job. The owner was VERY reluctant to increase the price but could not justify the amount of extra work he was having to perform for the bid price of the job. We were told that the bid would have to go up; possibly by $400. The work was already underway, the driveway was pretty much completely removed, so we had no choice but to agree, All State's owner (I wish I could remember his name) went out and rented a stump grinder and spent about four hours grinding our stump. Even after the grinding, once the stump was removed the root-ball was about 3' x 4' and incredibly heavy. The driveway was replaced, the stump was removed, large tree roots that were causing bumps in the driveway were removed. All work was satisfactory and the driveway looks much better. The parking pad looks fantastic and is properly sloped for water run-off. When the owner brought me the final bill he also brought the rental slip for the stump grinder. The rental of the grinder was $406. All State charged me an additional $250 for the extra work, bringing my total to $3550. It was clear to me that the owner was worried that we would think he was trying to "get over" on us. That could not have been further from the truth. I was completely satisfied and was impressed that we were only charged $250 for the many man-hours of extra work All State had to complete because of my improperly removed tree. It is always great to be able to report on the honesty and hard work of certain businesses on Angie's List. All State Paving was professional, friendly and extremely concerned about cost overruns. The driveway looks good and I would recommend All State Paving to any of my neighbors in a heartbeat.
