From the initial phone call through work done, they are incredibly professional, prompt, and personable. I have also used them for chimney repair and for chimney caps with the same excellent results.

They were very careful not to make a mess or get the house dirty.

They no longer clean ducts. This company is mis-categorized.

With allergies and asthma in the family, having the air ducts cleaned seemed like a good idea. I hadn't thought much about the process and was a little concerned when they showed up and started cutting a hole in the duct work next to the heat pump (the cold air return, I believe). It turned out that the technician in charge was an off-duty Baltimore City firefighter;his helper was a young dad from Carroll County. They were polite and worked well together and did an excellent job. The patches in the duct work are perfect, in fact, I can hardly tell they are there!

During rain in late August, we noticed water coming in through chimney, so I called McDowell's to come take a look. We also needed gutters cleaned, so asked for that too. The only thing is, I don't think they got the message from the receptionist about the water issue, because my husband had to remind them to look for the source of the leak. They were professional, and very clean too. They went on house and saw that water was coming in through a small opening where all they needed to do was just re-seal, so they did that at no charge, they said. They cleaned out gutters and even told us about problem with front gutter - pitch was bad, not draining properly. Unfortunately, they don't do gutter repair. Price seemed a bit high for cleaning gutters, expecially since it's a townhome, so won't use them again for that. But good experience in general. They identified problem with the chimney prefab walls - cracked, and gave us a quote, but since we don't use chimney, we won't do.

They professionally inspected the work to be done and submitted a prompt bid. However, the bid was for chimney repair/reline only - they would not bid the roof repair or flashing (''consult a professional roofer to reflash chimney''). $3895.00 for an incomplete job. They also sent a $60.00 invoice for the bid.

I called this company right off Angie's List without any other referral. The receptionist helped me immediately with my urgent situation of a newly-installed hot water heater not venting properly. The company came out the next morning. Jason was courteous, knowledgeable and patient. They did not traipse dirt through the house. They answered all my questions. Overall an excellent experience.

Jason was the team leader and was very professional, polite, informative and helpful. They did a thorough job (demonstrated with before and after photos) and were very respectful of our property. I would have readily had them do our ducts had they been in the duct cleaning business still!

This is the second time I've used McDowells for chimney work. I've been very pleased overall with their work and professionalism. They are a little expensive, but it is worth it.

I WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND THEM TO ANYONE. THEY WERE PROMPT WITH RETURNING MY FIRST PHONE CALL, THEY STAYED WITHIN THE ESTIMATE AND THERE WAS NO AGREED TIMEFRAME, BUT I FEEL THAT IT TOOK THEM AS LONG AS I THOUGHT IT WOULD.

HE IS VERY GOOD AND VERY HONEST. HE DIDN'T LEAVE A MESS FOR ME TO CLEAN UP. I GOT A PROMPT RESPONSE AFTER MY FIRST CALL. HE GOT ALL OF THE WORK DONE QUICKLY.

I FELT THAT THEY DID A EXCELLENT JOB THEY WERE RIGHT ON TIME AND I WAS VERY PLEASED WITH THE WORK THAT THEY PERFORMED. WHEN THEY WERE DONE, THE WORK WAS CLEAN.

WE WERE VERY SATISFIED. THEY PROMPT, TOOK PICTURES ON THE ROOF TO SHOW US WHAT THE PROBLEM WAS. WITH OUR APPROVAL THEY FIXED IT. THEY WERE ON TIME AND VERY PROFESSIONAL IN THEY WAY THEY HANDLED THEM SELVES THEY WERE NOT PUSHY ON GETTING US TO USE THEIR PRODUCTS.

MCDOWELL'S WAS VERY HONEST AND PROFESSIONAL. WE RECEIVED PROMPT, TIMELY, AND HIGH QUALITY SERVICE, AND THEY WERE HAPPY TO SET UP AN INSTALLMENT PAYMENT PLAN. ALTHOUGH WE DID NOT HAVE THEM DO ALL THE WORK RECOMMENDED, WE WILL DEFINITELY USE THEM AGAIN.

MCDOWELL'S WAS A PROFESSIONAL SERVICE WITH KNOWLEDGEABLE EMPLOYEES. WE CHOSE NOT TO HAVE THE TILES REPLACED AT THIS TIME AS MCDOWELL'S ADVISED THAT THE TILES HAD ANOTHER 5 YEARS BEFORE IT BECAME NECESSARY TO REPLACE THE TILES.

THE CHIMNEY NEEDED A THOROUGH CLEANING. THE GUYS WHO CAME TO CLEAN IT EXAMINED THE CHIMNEY FOR OTHER PROBLEMS TOO. SOME COMPANIES TELL THEIR GUYS TO FIND THINGS EVEN IF THEY DON'T NEED TO BE FIXED. BUT MCDOWELL'S GUYS SAID THE CHIMNEY ITSELF WAS IN GOOD SHAPE AND JUST NEEDED TO HAVE SOOT REMOVED.
