We have hired Steve for at least two prior jobs and were happy with his work. He installed a beautiful fan (and had to run power for it) in a cathedral-height ceiling. He also installed track and pendant lighting in our kitchen. From what we saw, we liked his work, so we hired him again to install ceiling fans in two bedrooms. Again, power had to be run for these as well. In preparation, I bought special switches for the fans, not realizing they were not compatible. As a temporary measure, I asked Steve to just go ahead and install a regular switch and I would later replace it with a more custom switch that was compatible with that fan. The switch was in a 2-gang box because it was to be mounted next to an existing light switch (each room has same setup). He finished the job, and all seemed fine because the fans worked. Some time went by and I went ahead to switch out the temporary switch with the final setup I had settled on. When taking out the switches, I found that nothing had been grounded. Also, one of the switches was barely secured and just pulled right away from the wires without me needing to loosen the securing screws. The light switches next to them strangely had cut ground wires. Improperly sized wire nuts were used, and the boxes were sloppily mounted within the wall. The main issue is the lack of grounding; this would not have passed a safety code inspection. I emailed him to make him aware of my concerns and disappointments, and he never replied back. It's a shame, because before he seemed more detail-oriented. I don't know what happened for this job...but because of it, we won't be hiring him any more. Having said this, another concern that I've come up with is reviews for things like electrical jobs or anything that the potential reviewer really knows nothing about. Most people would have given this job an A rating because, well, the fans work! Who is any wiser that just because the fans work doesn't mean they are wired up safely? How does a reviewer really give a proper review? Being courteous and cleaning up isn't enough.

Steve was excellent. His quote was more than fair. He was there when he said he would be and did everything he promised. Our dogs loved him too. We would recommend Steve to anyone.
Description of Work: We purchased a 1941 house with fuse boxes that had not been upgraded since the house was built. Steve upgraded the boxes, ran extra power to the garage, and worked with BGE to upgrade our service from them.

The lights look great. He was great with design and lighting ideas too. The B in professionalism is because he could have been a bit neater with the drywall repair. Very knowledgeable, easy to work with.
Description of Work: He replaced my fluorescent lighting in the kitchen and basement with recessed lighting. Eleven lights + two where there were no lights. Dimmers, additional switches, etc. He also installed an outdoor motion light on the deck and two additional recessed lights in the family room. Drywall repairs included where walls and ceiling were cut.

He gave me advice on replacement parts. He provided suggestions on how to save money and not over buy. He was professional, polite, friendly, helpful, and neighborly. His price is reasonable.
