We are thrilled with our home inspection and report. All our questions were answered quickly and we had confidence in moving forward with our home purchase. Steve is both easy to work with and thorough - A top combination! The report arrived via email and was extremely well organized and detailed. We appreciated all Steve's notes, including specific appliance maintenance schedules, recommendations for improvements and remediations, general knowledge about best practices. Fantastic job!

The inspector was far too harsh considering the age of the home. He used unnecessarily derogatory language and was unreasonably critical of the home. Much of the report seemed overly opinionated. For example, the kitchen was called "dated," which is a value judgment and not part of a reasonable inspection. The inspector recommended new appliances and systems; most appliances are only four years old. Inspector recommended changing locksets for "safety," which is irrelevant to an inspection and seems to disparage an extremely safe and well run town. Inspector questioned electrical systems which have passed multiple inspections by municipal authorities. Inspector went so far as to note weeds in the gravel driveway, when weeds are present in virtually every gravel driveway. Would not recommend that any agent hire this inspector and that prospective buyers understand that his opinions may not be within the norms of the home inspection industry.

Very well. I've used Steve Showalter for three homes now. He is very thorough in his inspection and wants the buyer to be there with him as he explores the home. I have received an excellent education about the properties and how they work. (I think I'd pay him just for that once I bought the home!) Once the inspection is done, Steve leaves you with a custom three ring binder full of information about the property. It is like an owner's manual for the home with a list of things that should be corrected or used to negotiate on the final purchase. I STRONGLY recommend Steve Showalter before buying your new home or before accepting a new construction home. Top recommendation possible!

I called requesting a third party inspection of an HVAC and drywall situation in a room of our new house. The room us unusually damp and the drywall tape is pulling away. I had wanted to get a second opinion. However, his initial responses to my questions indicated to me he was not interested in providing services in my given situation even though his thermal imaging services would have been helpful. By the time he said he could do that it his tone was clear to me he was still not interested. I think this was due to the fact he was afraid this would end up in litigation with the builder. If your looking for someone to litigate on a new home don't call him. He no longer does those despite his website saying otherwise.

I highly recommend Mr. Showalter. We are a bit and quot;greenand quot; and he was patient and took the time to make sure we understood everything he explained. I could tell by the way the way he interacted with us and the detail in his inspection that he truly cared. We loved the fact that he does his own Radon testing, no outsourcing. We were also very impressed with the inspection report. We received our report the same day and it was delivered electronically. Again, highly recommended.

The inspection went great. Mr. Showalter was punctual and efficient. He thoroughly inspected all aspects of the house and answered all our questions. His report was very detailed and organized with pictures to support all the findings. I would absolutely use his services in the future.
