Description of Work: Have used CTC for board and train and private lessons. We have seen amazing results! Our shy girl has built a ton of confidence, and she listens reliably to her commands. And best of all, she went from crazed leash puller to an absolute pleasure to walk. |We've worked the most with Andrew and Karen - both are super nice, incredibly loving and kind to the dogs, and they have knack for not making us humans feel stupid when they correct our training technique. Would highly recommend them!

Andrew and his team were superb from start to finish. They listened to what our issues were and helped us develop the dog we knew Lilli could be. They were realistic and ensure we knew what was possible and what we could expect during the training and when we brought her home. Just as importantly, they gave us training on how to more effectively work with her and to keep her successful. The staff was thorough, professional and obviously loves dogs. Andrew in particular was superb at communicating ideas and concepts to us and went out of his way to answer our questions and ensure we were on the right track. Lilli is now responsive, polite and a joy to have back in our house. We STRONGLY recommend CTC.

Having been the recipients of the "big box" animal training centers who parade the dogs around the store with our last dog we searched for a trainer who would provide both individualized attention to our particular dog and a group environment to help socialize the dog with other animals as well as people. We were very concerned that we would get into a training environment where everything was based on food rewards and were looking for something more rewarding for the dog and us. We also were not interested in a boot camp type environment. When we first met Andrew, Cooper was just a wee pup, it was an individual meeting because CTC feels it is important to meet and evaluate the dog before putting them in an environment with other dogs. Needless to say we were delighted at how easily Cooper created a bond with Andrew and with us as well. During this meeting we discussed behavioral issues; such as eating shoes, chasing the cats (ok maybe a natural thing); he ate drywall; pulled extensively when walking and was (for lack of a better description) wired for sound. We attempted some basic training but we not experiencing much success. We felt confident after the initial meeting that this was the right trainer for Cooper. In the beginning there was the initial class that explained theory and processes that was for people only, it was important for us to learn the how the journey would take place and what we could expect from the classes. It also gave us the opportunity to meet owners of the other dogs in our class. Each class lasted eight weeks and initially there was food reward but eventually all were weaned off food for good behavior and were happy when they received praise and love for their accomplishments. We were provided with paperwork on WHAT would be the focus each week and when we returned the dogs were evaluated on how well they were able to accomplish their task. If Cooper was successful he moved on if not remedial training was given (not to just the dog) until the skill was achieved. If there was one thing we learned during these classes it is not just the dog who requires training (yes, Andrew we were listening) It is difficult to explain the feeling of confidence that you get when you are in the classes and how he turns losses into gains and accomplishments into victories for both the owner and the dog. It is also important to note that when we experienced other behavioral type issues, CTC was always there to provide advice. Cooper is a large breed (Bernese Mountain Dog) now weighing in at 120 pounds and was always excited when he met people especially children, with Andrew's help we were able to train him to lay on the ground when approached by a child allowing them to pet him but not scaring or overwhelming them with his size. There was another problem with fear he was experiencing when crossing bridges; again Andrew's advice was right on target and he no longer experiences that anxiety. We will continue to work with Andrew on future classes that he offers as this is a rewarding experience for all involved. He is by far among the finest persons we have met. When we are asked where Cooper was trained we recommend the CTC.

The dog training course was very informative and gave me a very realistic picture of what the training course was like and what type of work I needed to do in order to properly train my huge dog. DO NOT THINK THE PROGRAM WILL BE THE SILVER BULLET AND DO THE WORK FOR YOU. No effective dog training program will ever cite itself in that way. 80% of the work will need to be done by you, and rightly so: the CTC will lay the foundation for your dog to be trained. YOU must continue the work. It has been about five months since we had our dog trained and we still continue to use the same training and communicating skills as we did when we brought our dog from the CTC course. Our dog's behavior is a far cry from before when we brought him to CTC. This is an effective course to take with your dog.
Description of Work: We had a two week board and train for our huge dog. He had learned to listen and execute human commands and we were also taught to communicate with him more effectively

We are still going through the group dog training course and we couldn't be more pleased. Andrew and his team have been fabulous to work with as new dog owners. Andrew is kind, professional, patient and a very talented dog (and people) trainer. It is obvious he loves his job and he does it so well. Andrew's training program is well organized and effective. We can see the progress we are making with our dog and with ourselves as dog owners. Andrew and his team educate the owners how to train their dogs and make it fun for the dogs and owners. Andrew is great about answering all questions during the class and in between sessions via phone and email. We are so grateful that we found CTC! We would highly recommend Andrew and the CTC without any reservations!

I have over 50 years of experience with dogs, growing up in a household where my parents bred and showed Doberman's. I was very involved in the family hobby of raising and showing dogs as a young adult. As an adult I have always have had one dog at home. My love of animals has been handed down to all 3 of my children. Last year, we bought my older son, his lifelong dream dog, an Alaskan Malamute. In June, we brought home a lovely female pup. Luna is a sweetheart, and very different than any other dog I have owned. She is smart and eager to please similar to a Doberman. However, she is very headstrong and like the sledding dog she is, was always pulling on her walks with us. My son had done a very reasonable job for a new dog owner with her, but she still needed some help with her basic training. She was easily distracted and was developing some bad habits, but mostly, it was that she was always pulling on her leash. In fact, the only way I could walk her was on a short tight choke collar. This was no fun for any of us. I found Andrew and the Canine Training Center through Angie?s list. After speaking with 3 different canine training programs, all highly reviewed, I chose The Canine Training Center. We did the two-week intensive training program. It was well worth the money. All of us, my son, myself and Luna, are extremely pleased with the results. Andrew and his staff have worked magic with Luna. She now walks on her leash without pulling, heels, sits, lies down and stays. She also is better crate trained. Her spirit has not been broken. Recently, I went back for an individual session as I was out of town when Luna?s training session ended. Andrew was extremely flexible and gracious with allowing me to have a separate individual training session, even though my son had a ready had his individual session. More importantly, when Luna and I arrived at CTC, Luna was very excited and greeted both Andrew and Ally wholeheartedly. I was so impressed with her greeting them, as it confirmed that she was treated well and had a great time during her 2 weeks with CTC. Since being home, Luna is the same sweet and loving dog. However she is now well behaved, and enjoys going through all of her training. We can go on walks with her heeling and not pulling at all! She is well mannered and less rambunctious. I give Andrew and his staff at the CTC high marks and recommend them highly without any reservations. Even though I have been around dogs my entire life, I too learned valuable insight into training our canine friends. Who said "you cannot teach an old dog new tricks?"

We have a two year old lab named Gus. He is a great dog, but had a hard time with self-control and listening, especially in times of distraction. He would often nip us when he wanted to play or wanted our attention. We had already done a lot of training with Gus, all of which stressed positive reinforcement through treats. This definitely worked, but only when we had treats. We heard about Andrew and the Canine Training Center from a friend and decided to try it. I was a bit nervous about Gus being taken for two weeks and especially about the use of a remote collar for correction, but we had to do something. What an amazing experience! Andrew and his team were very professional, caring and willing to answer any and every question we had...and I had a lot. Even when we got home there were more questions that came to mind. We would email Andrew directly and he would respond immediately. The very first day we dropped him off we were reassured and felt confident that Gus would be well taken care of. The first time we were reunited with Gus we were amazed! Of course, we weren't really sure how he would be at home with us. When we brought him home we followed Andrew's instructions and Gus has been amazing. The amount of self-control he demonstrates is unreal. We could never leave out shoes without him chewing them. We had gates up to keep him out of certain rooms and he definitely would go crazy every time one of our neighboring dogs would walk by. We no longer have any gates in the house. Gus has access to a shoe rack near our front door and doesn't even touch them! He will stay in a down/stay wagging his tail like crazy, but will not get up when one of the neighbors walks by with their dog. This is all directly resulting from the CTC training and instruction. When people see us out with Gus we constantly receive compliments about his behavior. We brag consistently about the training he received at CTC. We continue to work with Gus and are excited to continue our work with Andrew and his team. We are enrolled in a group class to help us reinforce the training techniques for both Gus and even more so for us! We cannot say enough about how satisfied we are with the training and care Gus received. I am an extremely tough customer with high expectations. The CTC delivered and did so with the utmost professionalism.

Andrew was very patient with us before dropping off our puppy for training over the 2 week period. We were naturally nervous and missed him terribly. When our golden retriever puppy, Ralphie, was 6 months old, he was out of control. He would jump on tables, steal food, play roughly with my 3 young sons, and he was very mouthy with us all, making our already chaotic household out of control! Something needed to be done or were were really going to be in trouble. I found Andrew through google and he returned my call promptly. From the moment we first spoke he was very calm and professional. I took Ralphie out to meet him the following day, and his professionalism and patience, with both me and the puppy, shined! After spending two weeks with Andrew, I picked up Ralphie, and was amazed to see a much more confident and happy dog that respected Andrew 100%. I firmly believe Ralphie is happier now that Andrew has provided him with the boundaries he was craving, which I did not know how to provide. Andrew educated both the puppy, and our family, about mutual respect between dog and human. We are all truly amazed with the transformation! I would absolutely send our next puppy to Andrew, before even meeting the puppy. I feel that all dogs could benefit from Andrew's extensive knowledge of canine psychology. Andrew has also made follow up visits to our house and has installed an electric fence around our property and trained Ralphie on it. Every time he comes by, we are all happy to see him, especially Ralphie! This shows the extent of his ability to bond and understand the canine nature.

I heard about the CTC and Andrew Wildeson from a coworker. I was so impressed with the results I signed upmy 2 1/2 yr old rescue lab. We were treated like family! Andrew listened to our concerns and requests - we opted not to use an ecollar and used a cinch collar instead. He worked with our request and we got back an amazing well behaved dog -The psychology class was for people only and was informative, simple and a look into what goes on in our dogs heads! And also what was expected of us to continue their training after the two weeks -When we saw our dog for the first time ( 10 days into training). It was amazing. She was heeling, sitting, staying and paying attention with little correction and she was LOVING Andrew -He teaches with corrections and lots of love. -He has a great website with pictures so you can check up on your pooch -He answers all emails and phone calls promptly and answers your questions no matter how silly! -Our two traing classes with our dog were awesome, we were all learning together. -We got back our dog with her happy disposition and her "labness" but all the difference in the world in her manners. -I think she really missed Andrew the first few days home A miracle was performed in the two week period of time promised. We would go back to The Canine Training Center with any new dog we get or if we ever need a place to board our dog, as CTC also does boarding.

Our one year old miniature schnauzer was in desperate need of obedience training. He had previously been owned by our daughter who did not attempt any type of training. He was very aggressive towards other dogs, would never come when we called him and was generally stubborn. Taking him for a walk was no picnic. He pulled on the leash so much it was if he was walking me. When we would come across another dog, there was no controlling our schnauzer. Andrew the owner of CTC was recommended by our neighbor who had used him for private training sessions. We chose to register our dog into the 2 week "Board and Train program as we didn't think private lessons were going to be enough. Let me just say that when it was time to retrieve him he was a different dog. Andrew worked with us before we brought him home as we also needed some training on how to handle him...basic dos and don'ts and tips on how to reinforce what our dog had learned. Now taking him for a walk is a pleasure. He sits patiently at the door prior to our walks and doesn't move until I give him the command. Now I walk him instead of the other way around. Andrew is a very good trainer and very accommodating. He always followed up to see how we were doing. In reference to installation of the fencing system, it included all equipment needed, 3 training lessons, plus the collar is rechargeable (rather having to periodically purchase new batteries). Andrew did the work and the training himself.
Description of Work: We used the Canine Training Center for "Board and Train" obedience training for our miniature schnauzer. They also installed an underground electronic fencing system. The price is for both.

My dog is aggressive to other dogs. After some time taking classes that really helped to discipline her, but didn't stop the aggression, I decided to take my dog to Boarding Training at CTC. After I got her back my dog sleeps in her crate without complaints. She doesn't attack every dog she sees in the neighborhood. She walks next to me and she stops when I stop. I am very pleased with her progress. CTC accomplished in two weeks, what I couldn't in a year.

Andrew is a gifted instructor who can communicate easily with both owners and their dogs. For group classes, he will offer a free evaluation for the appropriate type and level of training. He has a passion for helping owners with dog training and behavior, and his enthusiasm is contagious. Andrew sees the positive potential in every dog and helps owners work toward that achievement. The Canine Training Center facility is new, clean, and comfortable. It is a great working and learning environment, and the classes are sized perfectly for individualized attention.Choosing to train with Andrew and the CTC should be an easy decision. Your bond with your dog will be strengthened through Andrew’s class exercises and assigned homework. Both you and your dog will have fun with the process and be very happy with the results! We certainly are!
Description of Work: This is to enthusiastically give Andrew Wildeson and The Canine Training Center my highest recommendation. My dog and I took two group classes with Andrew (level 1 and 2), and I was thoroughly impressed with his training skills and philosophy. The class instruction was well thought out and the information was clearly presented. Andrew’s insightful teaching was evenly paced and included skill building that allowed for steady progress.

Mr. Wildesen is pleasant and professional. We were pleased with the results of the training both times. We would certainly use his services again.

I went to see Andrew (owner) to get an assessment of what I needed to improve my dogs aggression to other dogs. He recommended one-in-one help with another trainer because of my dog's aggressiveness. After that I joined this level 2 class, With this class I feel that I conquered my fear of been around other big dogs with my dog. My dog knows her command and my attitude is a lot better.

The results were stunning. While Toby is still learning, he is a disciplined dog now. He knows when he has to walk quietly alongside us and when he can wander. He knows he is not supposed to bark at people who pass by the house. He knows how to stay seated, when a guest arrives at the house, until he is given permission. The Canine Training Center did a terrific job for us. Andrew was thorough, professional, and flexible. Highly recommended.
Description of Work: Andrew Wildesen of the Canine Training Center took our very nervous, easily frightened dog, who seemed nearly untrainable to us, for two weeks. I can't say exactly what he did during that time, but the dog came back to us ready to obey, willing to control his impulse to bark and nip.
