There was a little miscommunication about the start day/time (mainly having to do with dispatching), but the workers who showed up were polite, courteous, professional, and did a great job. They took about 3-1/2 days, and did an excellent job with the floors.

I was extremely pleased with all the work they did and everyone I dealt with. I worked with Cliff (a sales representative) to get an estimate and a description of the work to be done. He was able to provide a rough estimate over the phone but recommended that he see the house in person to check out the condition of the hardwood floors and take exact measurements. Cliff was great in explaining the process and options. Alex was the foreman for the work crew. He was fantastic to work with. He put down three samples of stain after the first day so I could choose which would look best on the floors. He also fixed a squeaky part of the floor. The work was flawless. The floors look fantastic and there was no "sloppiness" (no stains on the walls from the wood stain, not much dust leftover, etc...). They did forget to apply the Angie's List discount on the final invoice (even though it was on the preliminary estimate) but they quickly reapplied it once I called.

Overall a very good job. They were able to set an install date very quickly. There were several faults in the initial installation, so their quality control was not very good. However, they were prompt and courteous in fixing the problems, and we were very satisfied with the end result.

I wanted the floor refinished before a graduation party for my son. Elegant floors were the most responsive and efficient of all the people we had come out to give estimates. There was some miscommunication about when they were going to actually come to do the job, but after calling them it was quickly cleared up. Their work was great, they matched the floors very closely to the existing floors. The total cost was right around the estimate they gave us. I plan on using them again when I get the bedrooms refinished. The only tiny issue we had was that the work was done on a Friday and they weren't able to come and move our furniture back to its original place until Monday. However, if the work had been done on a weekday they would have come back the next day. The floors were refinished within the same day and we were able to walk around on them by that evening.

They arrived on time at about 8:00 am and brought their equipment upstairs into the bedroom, then used plastic sheeting to seal the other three rooms, upstairs. They discovered the sanding machine did not work, so left to get another. That took two hours. They completed the sanding and refinishing by about 4:00pm - so the entire job took them about five hours. They instructed us not to enter the room for at least 3 hours, then they left. We inspected the room the next day and found that they did a good job on refinishing the floor exactly as we had agreed to and expected. I would fault them for one thing - they were not very careful and scratched all of the baseboard moulding, which now requires total repainting. I believe they could have been more careful in that respect.

They were wonderful! We had some scheduling conflicts with the contractors who were working on other items. Steve & Cliff were adaptable to schedule changes and wonderful to work with.

Overall, we were happy with the work that Elegant did. The crew that was sent to our house was professional and hard working. They took the appropriate steps to section off vents and other parts of the house and most of all spent time to make sure my wife was happy. They took time to put several different types of stain on the sections of the floor so that my wife could have a more realistic look at the color of the floors. It was very appreciated. The only negative feedback we have is that it was very difficult to get in touch with the main office and the sales representative. As we had issues (needed to modify the quote, ask questions about the work, etc...) my wife ended up leaving several messages and while they did return the call, we did not feel it was timely.

Met Joe for the estimate. He was great at walking me through the process. Dealt mostly with Steve, who was also very good. Had small delay on my part and they were very good about delaying in the middle of the project for a week. Place was dusty from tile removal, but the place was spotless when the project was complete. Very impressed with the quality of work.

They came promptly for estimate. They worked this small job in at a time when they were doing another job in the area which allowed the low price for the job. Results were exactly as requested.

Mr. Small from the company came very soon after my call to give me an estimate. The workmen arrived on time and were very polite and friendly. They moved a great deal of furniture before starting and were extremely careful with all the pieces--nothing was nicked or marred. They worked efficiently and kept me apprised of the steps in the process so that I'd know when I could be in the area and how long the stain, sealer, and varnish would take to dry. Although their usual process was to come the next day after finishing to replace the furniture, I had to go into my office and was unable to do it then. Without a murmur, the company accommodated me by agreeing to come the following day, and again, the men did a great job with the moving.

This company deserves its name -- elegant. Before beginning, they wrap all adjoining walls with plastic for protection. They clean and grind marble using a multi-stage process of graduated diamond abrasive pads. There is no dust since they use water as they grind and then wet-vac the floor until it is dry. They then polish the marble to a high luster sheen. I was amazed at the results. It looked like a brand new floor. I hadn't realized just how unattractive the floor had become. Having recently moved in, I would guess the floor had not been refinished since it was installed in 1990. I chose this company after seeing previous reports on Angie's list.

We had originally contracted only for the bedroom, upstairs hall and stairs. Upon arrival the workmen asked if we wanted the living and dining rooms done as well. They were not pushy about it, just curious, since adding rooms would change their work plan. We called Elegant Floors offices and they said if we added rooms they would give us a discount. We decided to do that. The whole job took three days. We paid an additional $180 for "dust containment," a cost that was well worth it. Sanding floors creates LOTS of debris, and blocking off other rooms with plastic sheeting made the house more livable during the work. They did a very good job overall. I would recommend that customers be there the day the stain is applied to inspect the newly sanded floors, since older homes may have wood that shows its age. We went with a natural stain and, in hindsight, should have gone darker, to cover over the blemishes.

Flawless. They sent over a very experienced professional to review the situation and provide an estimate. Within a day we had agreed on the work to be completed and started a week later. The entire job was supposed to take 2 days but turned out to be 3 because of the severe condition of the floor. It was pretty bad, actually. I traveled out of town for days 2 and 3, leaving the keys with the contractor and came home to a spectacularly finished floor and staircase. I must have spent about 2 hours just walking around barefoot and grinning.

We hired them before and had them come back out. They did a good job. I would recommend them and use them again in the future.

Without the carpet the noise travels everywhere. It's a lot noisier than we expected. After the carpet was also taken out we noticed that the doors were cut shorter at the bottom without the carpet accommodating it. Where the carpet had been covering a small portion of the wall, we noticed that it had never been painted. We definitely liked the finished floor but I would have thought the company would have informed us about these issues before removing the carpet.

The actual work was great - communication with the manager communicating to the guys at my house was poor.

Came same day i called and gave an estimate. As soon as we agreed to move forward, they started the day after. Javier arrived every morning on time and was very professional, courteous and friendly. He and his assistant worked very hard every day. This was the only estimate we got, but the pricing seemed very fair. They covered all paintings and wall hangings with plastic and was very careful overall. Initially we were told this was a 3 day job but it ended up taking 7. Overall we are very pleased.

This was a big job so I got several estimates. Elegant Floor was the slowest in calling me back and the slowest in coming out for the estimate. I never heard back from them. No quote. Nothing. Obviously, I selected a different company.

This was a superior and professional job. They were able to find the materials that I wanted and in the size I wanted. I received excellent treatment from the owner, foreman and the men on the job. They clearly have a large and experienced staff. First, they came in and corrected the previously-botched floor-leveling job, and then they installed new prefinshed hardwood floors. They did the nosing exactly the way I wanted, getting every detail perfect. Then they installed my custom base molding (which they picked up at the mill, Abernethy Sticks in Kensignton, MD). They waited graciously and patiently a couple days while I painted the molding, and then they returned a couple days later to install the nosing and clean up, adjust door heights, etc. Everything came out clean, beautiful, and stunning. My wife and I couldn't be happier with our new upstairs space.

I gave Elegant a "B+" overall because of the "standoff" which probably wouldn't have occurred if a trained worker had estimated the cost and time in the first place. After wall was said & done, the work was done. Mr. Whit, while stubborn at times, always remained professional.

Our marble floors look like brand new. They got rid of one stain that we thought we would never get out in the main foyer. They hung in there and got the job done. I couldn't believe how hard they worked and felt kind of sorry for them working such a long day with little break time.

Work went very well. Cliff came out and gave us an estimate. He seemed very knowledgeable and was very professional. His estimate came in the lowest of the four I obtained, and I was most comfortable with Elegant because of Cliff's knowledge. He was able to answer all of my questions and offered additional information on the process the others had not supplied. The work was scheduled and the crew showed up promptly and did the job well. The only surprise was when the crew told me there would be an extra charge to move furniture, Cliff had told me it was included. I called the office to advise them of the discrepancy and they never called me back about it. There was no additional charge in the end, and the crew moved the furniture. Alex, the crew chief, and his team, were courteous and professional.

I knew I needed to have the marble polished, and saw the crew working at my neighbor's house. The work they did there was beautiful, so I asked for an estimate. They were not cheap, but the work was more than worth it. They were diligent and detailed in their work. They filled in a spot in the corner where someone years ago must have drilled holes in the floor. They took great pride in the end result, as they should have. The floors didn't look this good even when we moved in to the house ten years ago, and I thought they looked okay then. These are outstanding professionals who take pride in their work.

It took three men approximately four hours. They were just wonderful. A job well done. My floor looks brand new.
