They did a real good job and I had no complaints about them. They charged lesser than what I expected. It went really well and I was really happy. They were willing to do stuff outside of what I was asking them like the initial floor stuff. It worked out fine and they were cheap.

Overall, it was a good experience. There were some communication problems regarding the exact schedule the crew would work and when the job would be complete. I assumed they worked weekends. Unfortunately, I found out they didn't after half the house was sanded on Friday afternoon. The biggest problem was that the crew did not bring all the color samples I asked for on the first day. After a few phone calls, I was able to arrange for someone to come and apply them to the sanded areas on Saturday. He was a few hours late, and complained about not being able to spend Saturday with his family. Luckily for him it only took 10 minutes to apply the samples. The rest of the job was very smooth with a new group of workers. They finished by Tuesday and the floors looked amazing. We couldn't have asked for a better finished product.

I contacted Elegant floor services and was able to schedule an estimate within a couple of days of my call. Cliff came and measured our floors and we discussed the wood options. Cliff dropped by a few days later and provided some samples to choose from. We received our estimate via email a few days after Cliff's initial visit. I sent an email back to Cliff with our wood choice and received an email with the final estimate that I signed and returned the same day of receipt along with a credit card number for the 30% deposit. I expected a phone call to schedule the work but did not receive one. About a week after sending the acceptance I called Elegant flooring and left a message for Steve that I wished to schedule the work. Steve sent me an email with several install dates to choose from. I chose the date and was informed that the work crew would be at my house between 8:30 and 9 the day the work was to commence. Approximately 9:35 the day of the initiation of work I called Elegant Floors to inquire of the status of the crew's arrival. They were running late and would be at my house in "5 minutes". Approximately 10 am they arrived. They covered my kitchen cabinets and counters with plastic and removed my existing flooring. They removed all debris and trash and did a fantastic job. They were courteous and hard working. The second and third day was the install and the crew was on time both days. The floor installation went well and the crew was contentious to ask me if they had any questions. I am a picky person and I found nothing to be picky about at the completion of their work. The workers were very tidy and took all the trash and debris. My cleanup after the job was minimal. It was definitely up to my high standards and I couldn't be more thrilled with the outcome. After the completion of the job the foreman asked my husband (who was home at the time) how we were going to pay the balance. I hadn't expected that question and had assumed the balance would be charged to the credit card they had on file for the down payment. I had sort of expected to be contacted by Steve or Cliff at the completion of the project. A quick call to the main office cleared things up a bit, their computers were down, I don't understand what had do with anything but it got resolved. I did receive an email from Steve with the final invoice a day later asking that I submit the remainder. I told him I was very pleased with the final product and asked him to use the credit card on file and if that was an issue to please let me know. I didn't hear anything more from him and called Elegant Floors later that day to see if there was anything more required from me as I had expected some sort of acknowledgment of the payment terms. I was informed that Steve had run the remaining charge through on my credit card that morning. The final product made the communication irritations/frustrations worth it.

I got 4 estimates, they were second on price, but I went with them due to their high grade on Angies List. Work was done in the time frame estimated 2 days. They did a great job and I am very happy with the floors. Its been a few months now since the work was done and they seem to be holding up well. I like the fact that except for the visit by the sales rep to measure the floors, I was largely able to communicate with them by email, to get the estimate and set up when the work would be done. My only negative concern was the "optional" things that were offered once I agreed to have have the work done. I'd rather they have been offered from the beginning estimate. It kinds of gives it a "bait and switch" feel (though technically it really is not). I guess its no different than what happens when you buy a new car.

We had Joe come out and do an estimate. Joe was great and spent a lot of time with us explaining the process and all of the options for the floors. The estimate process went well. After getting a couple more estimates we decided to go with them and had them do the work on a weekend when we were going to be out of town since it is best to be off the floors anyway while they are curing. We came home to find beautiful floors. They looked great and still do. The floors themselves look great and the molding they installed look great as well. They did get some stain and whatnot on the while molding around the floors but I guess that's to be expected. The reasoning for the low rankings is because of the stain they also got on our outside deck (not quite sure now that happened) and their lack of responsiveness to fix the problem. I called numerous times and asked for some sort of resolution. I was very friendly and just wanted the issue resolved whether it be someone to come and clean up the mess (if they had special stain remover) or a simple 10% off etc. Steve mentioned that he wasn't on the job and would talk to the foreman and get back to me. I never heard back after days passed. I tried emailing him for some sort of response since I didn't receive a phone call. We had just had the deck refinished and stained as well by a different company and now have a bigger issue on our hands than when we started. Steve was quick to charge our credit card for the remaining balance of the floors and did not offer to assist in any way to fix the issue of the stain on the deck. I thought maybe if I reached out to Joe, who did our original estimate, he could help, but still no response from the either of them. It was unfortunate that they ended what could have been a pleasant experience with such bad customer service. The floors look decent but the lack of customer service and accepting when something goes wrong makes me truly distrust this company. Good luck if you use them! Just hope nothing goes wrong because I am sure they will jump to charge you for the services and take off! Very disappointed with the lack of customer care.

I asked lots of questions as I experienced some problems with previous contractors. He basically answered the questions but I wasn't too sure the soundness of his approach... He assured that his company could take care of the problems but maybe he changed his mind...??

They are punctual, professional, and they do good work. They are very easy to work with.

Went very well. Gentleman who came out to do the estimate was very professional and very responsive to questions. I received estimate within a few days via email. The crew who came out to do the work showed up promptly at appointed time. They too were very professional, asked needed questions and went straight to work. When floor damage was discovered, they easily explained what it would take to repair; I immediately got cost from office via phone and approved. This did not seem to add much time to the job because it was completed sooner than I expected. I was very pleased with the result and love my floors.

They were fantastic, and I was very pleased. They were on time, very conscientious about being clean. They hated dust, and picked up well after themselves. The final project was very nice, they look brand new.

They were very punctual, and fast. Gave a good price we just haven't moved forward with the project yet.

Elegant was an exceptional contractor in every aspect--price, timeliness and quality of the finished product. It helped that our floors looked pretty awful to begin with, which made the final contrast incredible. They had a three person crew. While we moved a good deal of the furniture, they helped break down some furniture like bed frames and futons to move around the house. They did one half of the house at a time. One of the best things they did was use the large vacuum that caught the dust as they worked. My wife is asthmatic and this made a huge difference. She had no problems, not even with the fumes in the evening. They also rightly recommended a lighter stain, which we were skeptical about at first but are very happy with. Their price estimate was under any competitors, thanks in part to the Angie's List discount, but the quality of their work was first-rate.

They were excellent. They were very professional. They came out and they were on time. They were very responsive.

They were able to interweave the hardwood and the laminate so that you can't tell the difference. All of my neighbors are envious of my floors. They were extremely knowledgeable and easy to deal with.

The initial estimate was spot on. We are first time homeowners and new nothing about hardwood floors. Joe explained the process to us and gave us enough information to make decisions about what services we needed to make our floors look their best and to be protected. Then as promised he sent us the list of options to select from along with the pricing. Even though, I did have a few more questions both Joe and Steve were quick to respond and answer honestly as to what services were necessary for us. I was able to get my questions answered by email which was extremely important to me as I don't have a lot of time to spend on the phone. They finished the project in the time frame they said they would and showed up on time. They left the place extremely clean and had my floors not look dramatically more beautiful than before I would have never known they were there. This company was excellent, paid attention to detail, were honest and upfront, and it was never a hassle to work with them.

Very dissatisfied with the service provided at Elegant Floors. The actual quality of the work is only satisfactory. Many of my expectations have not been met. After 2 months the work is still incomplete. Communication with the customer is poor or non-existent. Beginning with poorly written estimates, non English speaking labor, general confusion about what is to be done and management that fails to follow up on quality or satisfaction. I have called, written and spoken to Steve White the owner numerous times. Most all my emails, letters, messages and promises are ignored with out reply. Weekly and daily now for 60 days I have had to constantly remind him of the unfinished project. Elegant Floors is eager to start work offering discounts to begin but beware they may have no intention to finish as promised. I would never wish my awful experience on anyone. My floors look much better than they did before they started the job, but I don't feel that they delivered the work that their estimator sold me on. The boards that were replaced are very good and the price was right, but the crew that came out was two guys instead of three, and they seemed overworked. They missed a lot of little details (I can see nailhead that were shorn-off instead of pulled and filled, there are gaps everywhere that were half-filled and I suspect they missed some spots on the second coat of poly because the finish scratches very easily). The work was done on a vacant condo, and the guys on the crew told me they would call me at the end of the day to let me know if I could walk on the floors in the evening or before they got to work -- but they never called. The job was supposed to last two days, but took three -- and I wasn't notified until the afternoon of day two when it seems the crew knew from the start it would be a three day job (it turns out they only worked half a day the first day, but didn't tell me that until later). Steve, the owner was very responsive on the phone, and had a guy come in the following week to take care of some of the work the original crew didn't do right, but I'm still not please with the final product.

Elegant did an outstanding job refinishing the wood floors in our entire house (about 4,000 sq ft). We just moved to the area into a late 1970s house with interesting oak peg & plank wood floors downstairs and more traditional oak floors upstairs (covered over by carpet in 3 of 4 rooms). The downstairs floors were in good shape but dull and the upstairs floors in decent shape in 3 of the rooms but the master was paint damaged and in need of some targeted repairs. Steve came out to the house quickly and on time for the estimate (came in less than the competition). We asked for two estimates compared just shining the floors (except for the master) and refinishing. We were very pleased to learn that the refinish estimate was not all that much more expensive (didn't love the color downstairs), so we decided to sand, stain, and seal the entire home (fortunately, the house was empty so no furniture needed to be moved). Elegant was able to start work immediately. Fernando and his 2-3 man crew came out the next week (we got the estimate Friday and they started Monday) and completed the job from start to finish in 5 work days. They showed up on time every day and cleaned up well after themselves. They brought out different stain options to test on parts of the floor to see how the floor would take the stain. The only minor area of improvement was that they forgot to remove the tape around sinks and toilets in the powder room (to keep from getting stain on them). But, all in all, it was an excellent experience. We are very pleased with the result, and I would highly recommend Elegant for their service and value.

This month we installed new patio door, and the new door caused some increased tension to the wood floors nearby. So when we found there is a little squirky sounds if people steps or walks in front of the patio door, we called Steve to ask if they may fix them. The repair was done promptly and the crew installed new moulding. We are happy with the results and glad they come out all the way from Maryland to Virginia for this small 10 minutes job.

We went with them because price was best out of the 3 Angie List providers we received estimates from and they could start right away. They were punctual and always pleasant to deal with, although we had more than our fair share of miscommunications. In the end I would say we are mostly satisfied with the work. I would not likely use them again becuase it took several visits for them to correct hasty work (quarter round not secured or replaced; wood filler not used to cover nail holes after installation of new base board; new base board not cut properly, ect). The floors themselves look good and we have received compliments on the work, although I have come to notice some places where scuff marks were created by the sander. However, since I have never had wood floors refinished or installed before, it is difficult for me to rate whether this is poor workmanship or something that is expected in this line of work now and again. And one or two of the new floor boards put down have bore holes in them that I did not notice until it was too late to fix. Overall, my main complaint is attention to detail. The work seemed hurried. They were always responsive to our concerns and corrected everything we requested, however I would have liked everything to have been finished correctly the first time.

I have been getting a lot of work done on the outside and inside of my house. The hardwood floors have never been refinished or sealed and had a lot of water and fading damage. We had to move all of the furniture out of the rooms, but after two days were able to reclaim our living space. They did an absolutely wonderful job. The floors look new. TThere was no dust anywhere when they were finished because they attach a vacuum to the sander which captures all the dust. The service workers were professional and prompt.

Elegant Floor Service was prompt in visiting, preparing a quote, and performing the work. We appreciated that they were able to complete the job in one day. We also liked being able to choose our stain color by viewing sample areas on our floor. Their work was high quality and the end result is beautiful.

The work that was done turned out very well. Our floors are beautiful. However, there were communication problems. When the workers at the house were doing something different than what was in the proposal, I called the office to ask about it. The men on site wanted to nail down some sagging boards instead of replacing them, as the estimate said. The man I spoke to seemed very annoyed that I would question anything they were doing. He said the men on site were the experts and they knew what they were doing, and the final bill would be adjusted to show that they did not replace the boards. We had requested an extra layer of finish for the floors, what is called a "street shoe finish," since the floors were very old and needed to be protected as much as possible. After the workers nailed the boards down and did not replace them, the floor seemed like new, and we were pleased with a change that saved us money. Then, one of the workers suggested to my husband that we did not need the street shoe finish either. My husband agreed, based on the other change they had made that had worked out well. If they said we didn't need it, we figured they knew what they were talking about. A while later, I saw that the charge on our credit card was for the full proposal amount (we did not receive a final, adjusted bill)--there was nothing subtracted for the boards they did not replace or the extra finish they said they would not apply. I called the office to question this, and the owner spoke with the men who worked on our house. The men said they did not replace the boards, so we should not be charged for this. However, they insisted that they did do the street shoe finish. The owner's reaction to this was to say he found it "a little annoying" that they did not report to him that the boards weren't replaced, but he trusted his men and he was sure that they did do the street shoe finish, even though they told my husband they weren't going to. This, of course, was upsetting to me because he said there was no way to prove one way or the other if they did the extra finish or not. He made no apology for anything, even the mistake they admitted making, and was very rude to me when I suggested that because they did not report one change in the proposal, I did not completely trust them to report another. We are new homeowners and this was our first big job in the house, so we didn't think to have the workers write down changes and sign them. This was our rookie mistake, and next time we'll do it differently. But I was very disappointed in the customer service and professionalism. I could not even get an apology for the confusion and for me having to call to get the bill corrected, which was something they should have done. Even though the floors look great, the experience was not a good one because I had to do extra work to get some of my money back, and I'm still not sure if I actually got all of what I paid for.

They came two times to do the work. The owner's name is Steve. They did a very nice job. They gave us two estimates and their prices were competitive in comparison to others. They provided a lot of technical support over the phone and through emails.

He was very professional, courteous, punctual, and informative.

Overall, I am pleased. Elegant Floors were responsive in visiting to give me an estimate and came in with a very good price, after the Angie's List member discount. They re-arranged their work schedule to accommodate my need to get the job done before moving into a new place. They kept to the estimated price and only took a day longer than originally predicted. My only reservation concerns the moulding. Elegant Floors, along with the other companies from which I received estimates, do not use Mirage brand moldings or trim in order to save money and to avoid having to use multiple pieces for each wall since Mirage trim only goes up to 7 feet, I believe. Instead, they stain on-site wood they purchase from other suppliers. This means there can be a noticeable difference in the color between the floor and the moldings. I would have preferred this be spelled out in the estimate but none of the estimates from any flooring company did this. I requested that some moulding pieces be re-stained, which they did, at which point the color was satisfactory. Elegant did a high quality job and the floor looks beautiful. I have not had any problems since installation.
