It was fine. Everything was excellent. I like the fact that they told me the exact cost before they did everything so you knew you exactly what you are going to get to. I would hire them again.

The only criteria I could give him higher than an F is on quality. However, the job was so easy there would have been no way he could have got it wrong. He charged me $190 for 15mins of work . Fair wage? Firstly: He never turned up for an appointment I had scheduled. As I was out of state temporarily, I had to apologize to my room mate for making him wait for this guy (Rodney) Secondly: As I needed work done urgently and his reviews seemed reasonable except for the one 'F' which I was willing to discount, I called Rodney again. He apologized for missing the appointment and indicated it had happened because he had marked it wrong on his calender.. Long story short he made an exception to make it out for me on Saturday as I was in town. To me it sounded like it was a genuine mistake and everything looked good. Little did I know he was definitely going to make me pay (pun intended) for calling him out..He charged me $70 for diagnosing that the smoke alarm was bad and all it needed was a simple replacement. I was concerned that there may have been some wiring issues hence my reason for calling him out. The $70 was fair because I expected that amount before I called. I told Rodney, I could replace the smoke alarm myself especially seeing that he was going to charge $121 for 5 minutes of work. He said there would a lot of work involved... stripping the wire, testing by going upstairs, etc. So I agreed to have him perform the work.. He removed the connector, put in a new smoke alarm and it took him a whole 2 MINS that cost me $121 (or $100 actually because the smoke alarm is worth about $20). He used his scare tactic to force me to have him perform the work. Definitely not happy! I do handy work around the house and this was something I could do and had told him I would do. Instead he intentionally exaggerated the situation to bill me using his over inflated rates. After writing this review I went back and rechecked the ratings I had given him.. only thing I changed is an upgrade on quality from C to B. Everything else stands. If you are ok with having some one over who has no qualms about charging anything above fair wage.. this is the guy for you! Good luck!

Rodney was terrific! I'd give him more then an A if possible. He was prompt- outlined the cost which was very reasonable and not only replaced my thermostat but called an HVAC company to find out why the heat pump was not going on. Turned out my friend had blown a fuse. Rodney took a fuse out of his truck- to get my heat pump working again. This is above any service I have ever had from a contractor. Rodney is now in my phone as my go to electrician! Highly recommend!

Rodney was prompt once we set up a time for when he could come out. This was on a Sunday afternoon so I was pleased that he could come out with less than 24 hour notice and fix the issue we were having. He walked me through the pricing and what he was doing every step of the way. He also made suggestions on future fixes I may need. He was very professional as well. Thanks Rodney!

Rodney quickly figured out what the problem was, solved it immediately. No new parts required, only his professional time to modify existing system components. My only reservation is that I had to pay an $89.00 service fee just to get him here (after hours), then another $59.00 for the work, which took maybe 30 minutes. That works out to $300/hour, not counting travel time. Not a big deal, but I thought the $89 to get him there should count towards the charge for services rendered. All in all, 150 bucks not a bad deal for the successful completion of the job.

Lousy sums it up. I make it clear, several times that what I was looking for was quick, cost effective and to pass inspection. Rodney came out and was trying to sell me the Taj mahal of electric work. I reiterated that I'm trying to get the work done in time to get into the house before school starts but, he kept pushing for electric work that was way outside of scope. Quick, cost effective and pass inspection. Rodney then proceed to tell me that I was cutting corners b/c I wasn't buying all of his up-charging (he was even trying to get electrical work in rooms where I was just removing the drop ceiling??) What I got from Rodney was, if he wasn't going to Taj mahal job that he wasn't the guy for the job. Well, he's not the guy for the job. Horrible and waste of time.

There were no additional fees associated with the Big Deal. There are no surprises with their costs. They are on time and show up when they are supposed to. They keep in touch as they go along.

My experience has been very good. The works were very efficient and honest. They had a good estimate and did quick work. We used them through Angie’s List.

We decided to hire a general contractor than to try to sub-contract out the work we had to do on the property so we did not go with Magothy. We would have gone with the strong estimate from Magothy if we did not decide to go with a general contactor.

Yes, I probably could have done this myself... and I feel kind of sheepish reviewing this work since it was extremely fast and easy for the electrician. We had a ballast go bad on one of our fluorescent lights in the basement (in a house we had bought a few weeks before). I was initially uncomfortable dealing with this one because it was hard wired into a junction box - not plugged in to an outlet as the rest of our lights are. I called several electricians on a Saturday morning and none answered - except Magothy Electric. They had a tech out in about an hour - and he gave me some options on how we could deal with the issue. I opted to simply remove the light, which he did in about 10 minutes. I will use them when we redo the basement - no doubt.

Rodney was very professional and personable and showed and explained things as he went along. When jobs were completed, you wouldn't even know he was there he was so thorough cleaning up and even vacummed the floor in the foyer to clean up the drywall soot where he had to cut a whole in the wall. Will definately use his services again and highly recommend.

He found where the problem was. Apparently my freezer had caused the problem by shorting out the electricity. He was able to repair the electrical problem. I called for service from this company and I informed them of the urgency. They said they would be there in 2 hours and were there even faster than that.

When they appeared on the scene, their radio was playing very loudly and they play it all day long. I told the gentleman who was playing the radio very loudly to turn it down for the sake of everyone and he gave me a lot of lip and turned it up next time he saw me. We shouldn't have to be subjected to the noise. The man was very rude.

They did a terrific job. They did it very quickly and very cleanly. I would recommend them to anybody. The price was fair.

He has done a wonderful job on the above work. His pricing is reasonable, he is courtesy and very professional. When I need an electrician I will surely call him back.
