It's a private company, a small company. He did the installation. It went really well. I was surprised that they did it all in one day. They came in, took out the old, put in the new, and it's really saved us a lot of money on our electric bills because our house is all electric. They said within five years it would pay for itself and I believe it will. Our highest electric bill this winter was two hundred and something, and normally it was four hundred and something. We got the Carrier. They were really good about sending over on the computer the differences between the two so you could read up on it. I actually got acquainted with this company when I was on the vestry at our church and they did work for the church. And then we had them come out and do some work for us, and then when we wanted to replace our system, we went with them. No matter where you go, it's gonna be expensive. They were right on it. Definitely I would use them again in the future.

They come on time and they're professional. I think that for most people, especially mine and my husband's age group, we're always worried that they're going to want to take advantage, like prey on the elderly, so to speak. They never add to the bill. We've had that experience in the past too, where somebody comes to do a job and they say well, now I know I quoted you this but I didn't know I was gonna need this, this, and this. When that happens, you just tell them to leave.
Description of Work: This was just a check-up. Everything's working great but you want to make sure it is. They were making sure it was gonna be alright for the hot Summer we're anticipating.

Fabulous -- they really care about providing service, from the front office through all levels. Although they were clearly busy, they were able to send excellent technicians earlier than they originally projected. After common maintenance to my furnace resulted in a seemingly functional system, those technicians proceeded to ensure that the system was reliable through follow-on tests. I've had other companies leave me in the cold without such additional tests (pun intended). It turns out that the further tests identified a one-in-a-million[1] part that "almost never fails" (I guess I hit the lottery?). If they hadn't followed through at the time, I would be shivering under blankets rather than writing an assessment. It turns out that the motor I needed was unusual, but they tracked one down, had another technician pick it up and deliver it, and I was happily listening to my furnace run that day. My most memorable moment was over-hearing the technician on the phone plead "but if we don't get it today, she isn't going to have heat!" It's nice to find a company that cares. [1] for those with oil heat, the motor that runs the oil pump broke part of its coil. That motor is similar to the starter in a car -- if it breaks, it might work occassionly, or if you mechanically turn it a bit, but I'd rather not have to take my furnace apart to start it each time.

Lindy Redding himself is a very unprofessional owner. I needed a new AC and furnace; the work was pushed back two days from the original start date. I was told they would finish in one day. They did not. I was then told they would come back the very next day. No one showed up; no one called. I had to call in and be informed they haven't even scheduled anyone to come back out to finish yet. They came out a few days later and there were already issues with the new system. It was leaking water all over our basement floor. I called and was told to turn the heat on (it was over 90 degrees outside at this point). A tech came out and wasted yet another day. He informed me it was fixed and there should be no problem. The problem happened again the next day. I called in and Anita, who happens to be Lindy's wife, answered the phone and told me "it is normal for it to continue leaking for a few days". I disagreed but she didn't really seem to care. It got to the point where it was leaking and managed to make it to the furthest wall, resulting in the drywall becoming wet. What happens when drywall gets wet, especially in a basement? It gets mold. I told Lindy there are now bigger issues going on to where I have to fix my basement because of the lousy job that was done. Sadly, it took a total of 5 times to finally fix the issue. In no reasonable way should it take 5 times to fix an issue, especially when the entire unit is brand new. It got to the point where there were a total of 7 full working days that had to be taken off in order for them to get the work done, properly. It got to the point where we asked Lindy for a discount and this is when the issues escalated. He said "Well it's working so what does it matter". It matters because you were so nonchalant about the entire thing. All in all we asked for a breakdown of the work and a discount in order to get this whole disaster over with. He wanted nothing to do with either one. He refused, and still does to this day, to give a work breakdown. All we got was an invoice that told us the total price we owe. He stated that "that's not how I do business, so you can just pay me what it says". I wanted to know exactly what I was paying for, considering they have to come back multiple times over the course of three weeks just to get it to work the way it should. We left a message Sunday night to have him call us to work things out the next day. He actually left a voicemail on my fiancees phone cussing and swearing him and saying he doesn't matter and he just "lives there". It was unbelievable. My fiancee asked him straight up about it and he fully admitted that he did in fact say all of that. That is not how you treat a customer, especially being the owner. It was a uphill battle because Lindy refused to cooperate at all. Eventually he agreed to give a breakdown and a $300 discount. He stated "well you should have gotten a formal proposal before the work started with a breakdown of everything". That is the exact point we were trying to make for weeks at this point. The financial department sent my what they call a breakdown. All it included was the price of the units and a labor guarantee that Lindy said he "gave" us. Come to find out he charged us for a 3 year labor guarantee. I asked him about it when the work was done and he said normally they give only a 1 year but because of all the problems he was "giving" us 3 years. I was charged $700 for it. We were not aware this was part of the cost, hence why we were so persistent from day one for a breakdown. As the consumer we deserve to know exactly what we are paying for. Otherwise, you put hidden fees in there without tell the customer, and technically that is fraud. I was then sent an invoice, which happened to be for the more expensive unit (which we did not get), and turns out to be about $2000 more. Finally I get the correct invoice. I decided to deduct the $300 he said he would take off. I also then decided that I would deduct the $700 for the labor guarantee that I was never told about or even wanted at that point. I think that is more than fair considering all the time we had to take off, the hassle, the damages in the basement, and the unbelievably rude unprofessional way we were treated. It comes as no surprise that my check got sent back to me with a nasty note from his wife, Anita. They wee unhappy that it said "final payment" when it was not for the right amount. The lady in charge of financials called me to tell me they needed payment or I could risk losing out on the rebates. That ultimately means I would then owe Lindy the amount of the rebate as well. There is no way that is going to happen. I told her I refuse to pay the full amount because we have been treated like garbage for weeks now. Apparently she talked to Lindy, who was less than professional with her, and he still is unwilling to work anything out with us at this point.
Description of Work: Our furnace went up right as the heat came. We had no AC and needed everything to be replaced. I have used them before and the gentleman, who happens to be a friend of my family and did the work on the side, did the work and it was great. That's why I decided to use them again.

Unfortunately, we am very unhappy with the service. The job was not completed timely, they used subcontractors and were less than responsive. We contracted for a 3 ton system and received a 2 ton outside unit connected to a 3 ton air handler. When we discover this, we complained and Lindy Redding Company replied in an email that there is nothing wrong with doing that and its fine. We asked that the system be corrected with a matching 3 ton outside unit but they refuse and asked that we pay and additional fee. I have continuing problems with my systems but elected to pay for other professional services as opposed to getting free warranty service from Lindy Redding Company.

Description of Work: They installed a new American Standard Heat Pump system in my home. I had a few problems in the beginning, but they came and did several service calls and finally discovered it was a defective part. After replacing the part I've had no trouble with the system. I was happy with the job they did, didn't leave any mess behind and were very professional.

Mr. Redding came out to my house to give me an estimate because I was having a bunch of people give me estimates before I decided on a company. He is very nice and for his companies price was the best out of everybody's and I liked him. He seemed like he do good work and quickly after he gave me my estimate and he came out with his sons and installed central heating and air. They were very nice, friendly, on time, and they finished the job in a timely manner.

Lindy employees showed up on time. Completed installation and cleaned up thoroughly. The condenser unit outside malfunctioned within a week. When I called Lindy, their engineer came out immediately and found the unit was defective. The unit was replaced within 2-3 days and it has worked perfectly since.

Lindy Redding Service responded to my call the same day and came out to give an evaluation. The central A/C unit was leaking water into my basement, ultimately because the condensation pan underneath the A/C cooling coils was rotted out. The A/C coils unit was 14 years old and no replacement was available. After pricing out alternatives, a new pan was not an option - one would have to be custom built - and the old coils might need service in the near future. Lindy Redding discussed this with me and we went with a new set of A/C coils with a much improved pan. Lindy Redding was out the next day and completed the work at the estimated price. I have had no further problems with that unit (as of 07/30/10).
