Everything is pretty much positive with them. They fixed my computer virus in one day. When I went to pick it up, there were some things on my computer that were not the same as when I took it in. For example, I could no longer go on Amazon to download some music. I had to call them to get it straightened out and they did straighten it out. But they do fix the problems.
Description of Work: They repaired my computer. I have a contract with them. It doesn't cost me anything when I take it in. My computer had a virus.

I had a good experience there a year ago when I went and got my large Acer laptop. I used it as my desktop at home and that's one reason I got the netbook so it'll be something nice and light that I can take with me. I like computer a lot. When I initially bought the computer it was fine, but when I went back to Best Buy to try to get the netbook they had one on display and they didn't keep any stock in the store. I asked the young man about it and he told me that they are getting rid of the netbooks and they are not keeping netbooks anymore because everybody wants an iPad. I have an entertainment computer and I needed a netbook for business. It was aggravating because I had a good experience before when I bought my large laptop and not everybody is looking for a computer for entertainment. I would probably not shop there again. I would look somewhere else.
Description of Work: I got an Acer laptop from Best Buy a year ago.

Bad experience; the second time I picked it up, another customer was waiting for them to fix something they had not fixed properly the first time.
Description of Work: The Geeks at this Best Buy told me I needed a new hard drive, which I bought; within 1 week of getting my computer home, it was crashing again. I took it back and they ran a full diagnostic test- said Windows 7 had not been properly installed. They said they could not communicate with the Geek Squad contact I'd talked to on the phone who had found numerous error messages. What's the point of having Geeks if they aren't all working together? My computer is now working, but I'll never take it back to this Best Buy.

TV was purchased from Best Buy with a free extended warranty. Had used the warranty for repair twice but warranty was now expired. Same problem for the third time, but when I phoned Best Buy, they couldn't find our records. Tech came out, examined TV, and was paid. Estimated repair cost at $700. I was devastated, as I did not have $700. After much pleading, tech agreed to fix set on his own for $200. Suddenly, the expensive component was no longer needed-the repair he performed was the same adjustment the two previous techs made under warranty. TV fixed, but I feel guilty. The tech defrauded his employer and I was a willing participate to this act. However, his employer was apparently willing to defraud me(charge me for an expensive component when an adjustment was adequate). Feel very conflicted and won't use Best Buy TV repair again.

I took my computer in to the Geeks On Call at Best Buy because the power supply had failed. After doing a diagnostic test, the tech told me that I had a dangerous level of spyware on my computer, and that I should have various services done to remedy this problem. I agreed to have them perform those services, as well as replace the power supply. I was told it would be worked on the following morning, and done by the next evening. Looking over the diagnostic report later, I saw no evidence of ''dangerous spyware'' (we faithfully run an anti-spyware program at home). It was not ready until 2 days after promised. It was difficult to get through to them on the phone. Once we had our computer back, it was as if it had had a stroke--we have spent a week getting it usable again. Some of what was supposed to have been backed up was lost forever. We will never use this ''service'' again.
Description of Work: Did diagnostic service; cleaned dust out; performed system tune-up; did operating system service; backed up information to external hard drive; installed replacement power supply.

THEY WERE VERY PROFESSIONAL. THE REPAIRMAN WAS EXTREMELY KNOWLEDGEABLE ABOUT THE COMPUTER AND SOFTWARE. HE EXPLAINED A LOT TO ME ABOUT WHICH SOFTWARE TO CHOOSE AND WHY. HE ALSO HAD OUR COMPUTER READY THE SAME DAY. WE WAS EVEN ABLE TO CALL WHEN WE GOT HOME WITH A FEW QUESTIONS.
Description of Work: INSTALLED NEW ANTI VIRUS SOFTWARE AND UPGRADED HARD DRIVE TO OUR HOME COMPUTER. ALSO INSTALLED A USB PORT.

TECHNICIAN HAD TO EVENTUALLY REPLACE THE UNIT. WE ONLY HAD TO PAY THE DIFFERENCE OF WHAT WE PAID FOR THE ORIGINAL AND THE NEW MICROWAVE WHICH WAS $125.00 PLUS TAX, AND THE NEW WARRANTY. THE MICROWAVE IS LISTED AS $500.00, SO THIS WAS GREAT. HE WAS QUICK AND PROMPT, AND THEY CALL BEFORE THEY COME OUT. ALSO PROFESSIONAL.
Description of Work: LARGE SPACESAVER MICROWAVE COMPUTER PART NOT WORKING. HAD TO HAVE TECHNICIAN COME OUT.

AFTER SEVERAL DIFFERENT TECHS AND NUMEROUS PROFESSIONALS LOOKED AT IT, FINALLY BEST BUY TECHS FIXED THE PROBLEM AND RESTORED THE USE OF MY SECOND BIG SCREEN TV.
Description of Work: MY BIG SCREEN TV WOULDN'T PLAY THAT I HAD PURCHASED FROM BEST BUY. IT WAS AN OLDER TOSHIBA MODEL; SOME OF THE INNER TUBING WENT BAD.
