Description of Work: Did an excellent job (see previous review) on reinstalling insulation in our basement. Our contractor then used them to insulate a substantial garage/workshop with a combination of closed cell spray foam and batting. Very professional and I would recommend them unreservedly

Description of Work: They insulated both attics in our split level home. They also insulated rim joints in our basement and laundry room. The workers showed up on time and were very professional. They were the cheapest estimate we received, but they were one of the few vendors who helped obtain BGE Energy rebates. They offered the best value for the service.

Description of Work: They did an excellent job. Two crews came on Saturday. One crew insulated under the house and the other crew insulated the ceiling/attic area. Everyone was on time, clean, profession, respectful, and took care with my home and property. They went out of their way to ensure I was informed and satisfied with the results. I am very pleased with the results so far.

Description of Work: DeVere helped me insulate my home. When I called to set up an appointment, they also referred me to an energy audit company in order to obtain rebates for work performed. After the audit, DeVere came to my home, reviewed the work to be performed in the attic, and provided me with a quote. DeVere performed air sealing in the attic and in the basement, and installed blown-in cellulose insulation to R-49. I noticed an immediate difference in noise reduction and comfort level. DeVere's staff was professional and courteous throughout the process. They even helped me secure financing.

I called Devere on the recommendation of my energy auditor and after reviewing the company on Angie's List. Devere was able to send someone out within a week to inspect my attic. I also provided Devere with a copy of my energy audit. The representative arrived a bit early and was very professional. After a brief conversation about the situation and energy audit, he climbed into the attic and inspected the entire area, even catching something the energy auditor missed. We then discussed my options and prices involved. Devere wasn't the absolute cheapest ($60 more expensive), but chose to go with them because of their professionalism, quick response, and thoroughness. The actual work from Devere cost $1,055, but under the a program from my utility company I was able to receive a 50% rebate from PEPCO for the insulation work performed. This dropped my total out of pocket cost for the service down to $577, which was almost 4x cheaper than mt quote from Quality Insulation. After I went with Devere, we agreed to a work date and Devere showed up early and ready to work. They first laid down plastic to protect my carpet and stairs from the workmen's boots and the first crew airsealed my attic, top plates, party walls, and even ensured that my bathroom vents only vented to the outside through the roof vents. This crew also installed the baffles. Total work time was able 60-90 minutes. The crew also took pictures of their work before and after since my cathedral ceiling attic is not easy to crawl around. After they were complete, a second crew arrived to blow in the insulation. I popped a screen out so that they could come directly through the second story window with the tube and they were able to blown in the insulation quickly and efficiently. They also sealed off the room from the rest of the house to ensure no loose insulation would escape. After blowing in the sulation, the crew took a video of their work to show me the insulation depth, baffles, etc and quickly cleaned up the room and even vacummed the room, the stairs and the entire route to my front door. All in all, the entire process took maybe 3-3.5 hours from start to finish. Crew worked hard and quickly and I couldn't be more pleased with their work. As part of the rebate process, I had to have a follow-up energy audit done and the results showed a 30% decrease in airflow in my house and the FLIR camera showed that the penetration of hot air into my second floor had stopped. Even better, the second floor of my townhouse is now livable and maintains a similiar temperature to my first floor. The 10 degree wall of heat I hit everyday going upstairs is gone! Only had a small sample size, but I used less AC the rest of the summer and have had to use less heat so far this fall/early winter.
Description of Work: Interior townhouse attic was air sealed (including party walls and top plates), insulation increased from R30 to R49 (blown in fiberglass on top of fiberglass batts), and had baffles installed.

Michelle Griffith is fantastic to work with from start to finish (providing the estimates, answering questions, scheduling and follow up). The on-site crew worked steadily and kept any potential mess to a minimum and left work areas spotless. I additionally requested a bathroom duct be vented to an eave but it didn't draft adequately. A crew leader came back to inspect and reinstalled it to the exterior wall which took care of the problem - at no additional cost. I haven't noticed significant utility savings but will follow up with ecobeco, who performed the energy audit, for further analysis. The final cost was actually reduced by half (i.e., $800) because the attic insulation and air sealing was eligible for a PEPCO energy rebate.

lt appears to have gone very well. They are very knowledgeable and the work was timely done. As far as I can tell as a lay person a month after the job, it appears to have been well done. I am sufficiently impressed that I am relying on them for additional work.

I was very impressed with the services offered by this contractor. They have every product for insulation you can imagine and they were very helpful in helping me stay in budget. I live in Harford County and they did a great job on insulating my attic. I have spray foam in my house as well as fiberglass insulation. I have the lowest utility bills of any of my neighbors. I could not be happier with DeVere!

Devere did a fantastic job with the insulation. When removing the old insulation, they did miss a little bit under the far corner of the sloping roof, but we contacted the company and they came back to remove the last of the old insulation before blowing in the new. When they came out to blow in the new insulation, they installed baffles to ensure adequate air flow throughout the attic. Then they blew in the new insulation. Everything went very well with the work and we've seen a pleasant difference in the heating costs for the house. The only wrinkle has been with the billing. We were referred to Devere by another company that was doing mold remediation work for us. For some reason, the office team at Devere wrote up our mold remediation contractor as the customer for the work, rather than me, the homeowner. This caused a few delays and misunderstandings in getting me the invoice so I could pay them. We did sort it out, though, and I would still happily use Devere again.
Description of Work: My wife and I had insulation in our attic that covered the soffet vents, preventing adequate air flow through the attic. We hired Devere to remove the old insulation (which was thoroughly contaminated with mold), to install baffles to hold the insulation back from the vents, and to blow in new insulation.

DeVere was prompt in coming out to give me an estimate, providing the quote, and were relatively prompt in starting the job on the day I was given. They were going to send out two crews to perform the work - the first crew was to foam and caulk the attic and the second crew was to blow-in the insulation afterward. The first crew was here a couple hours when one of the workers told me there was a structural problem in the attic and that because of that, they had caved-in part of the ceiling in one of the upstairs bedrooms. Because of the structural problem, they stopped the job until the problem was fixed. They told me one of the ceiling joists was loose and when they stepped on it, it pushed through the bedroom ceiling. I scrambled to get another contractor out the same day to get up in the attic to check on the problem. The other contractor pulled back most of the existing blown insulation to reveal the joists over the bedroom and told me he didn't find any problems. I contacted DeVere the next day and told them my contractor couldn't find a structural problem - they also sent out a guy to brace the ceiling because it was falling down. DeVere sent out a drywall contractor around a week later to repair the ceiling and he got up in the attic to see if there were any joist issues. Turns out there were no structural issues and the insulation guy had just put his foot through the ceiling - wish the insulation guy would have just told me the truth rather than leading me to believe that I had a problem with the ceiling joists. DeVere's drywall guy did find an issue with the ceiling drywall upstairs and that the drywall had pulled away from the ceiling joists in areas. In discussions with him, we decided the best thing to do was to have all the existing attic insulation removed so that it wouldn't interfere with repairing the loosened ceiling drywall. DeVere agreed to cover all the costs associated with repairing the bedroom ceiling and repainting the room. I contacted DeVere and they modified the quote and sent a crew out to remove the attic insulation, which I am paying for along with costs for repairing the loose ceiling drywall. The crew was here most of the day and did a great job. After failing to show up the first time to make the repairs, the drywall guy removed the ceiling fan, replaced all the ceiling drywall, and did a good job. They then sent out a crew to blow-in new insulation and that crew did a good job. DeVere had another contractor come out to perform the painting a couple of weeks ago. Here's my problem with DeVere. While this wasn't a typical job by any measure, I can't even estimate the number of calls I've had to make to my DeVere contact to keep this job moving and it has still taken nearly two months. Their lack of communication and ensuring the job kept moving on their part, has been very poor. I have been waiting now for over a week for DeVere to send me a revised quote (removing one task that was in the original quote that I had someone else complete) and to send someone out to re-install the ceiling fan they removed when the drywall guy replaced the bedroom ceiling. This job should have been wrapped-up a long time ago. Overall, their lack of communication and time taken to complete this job has greatly diminished the quality of their insulation work.
Description of Work: I hired DeVere to foam, caulk, and blow insulation in the attic and to install batt insulation in a small room in the basement.

We want to apologize for disappointing you. In our 23 years of being in business this is the first time we had encountered a project that required so many subcontractors on an existing home and a unique situation. Our team should have done a better job of staying in touch with you and managing the magnitude of subcontractors on this project. That was not done, and we are very sorry. As a result of your project we are addressing our internal communication systems. We are glad that you were pleased with a portion of our work and are sorry for our errors on others. We hope you accept our apology.

I requested quotes from several companies on this list. Jeff Jackson came out from DeVere and walked the project with me, and provided a very professional and user friendly quote. I was impressed with his suggestions and the the quality of the materials and work he was recommending. I selected DeVere because I felt they were offering the best job per dollar spent, and at a better overall price than the competition. The DeVere crew showed up when scheduled, worked hard and did a great job. Left the job site clean. I feel that I got a great job for a great price, and would highly recommend DeVere.
Description of Work: Service was to fully insulate a 2-story 3-stall garage with a workshop on second floor and attached potting shed on rear. R13 in the walls and R38 or max possible in ceilings and roof rafter areas.

I wanted this job done before it got hot. I figured they'd do a better job if it isn't 150 degrees in attic, so I planned to have it done in early May. Crew showed up on time and did a super job. Protected carpeting and did a great job cleaning up. During the installation the Team Lead kept me informed (I'm the curious type) of what they were doing and why. When they were done he walked me through everything they had done to insure I was pleased. The three person team completed the install in one day as promised. Post air pressure test showed a reduction of 26% in air flow. The biggest unforseen benefit was the sound reduction to the home from I-29. After the install I had to work with Michelle Griffith to get closure paperwork for the grant funding and she was very responsive in helping out.
Description of Work: Devere was one of three companies I had do a quote for me based on an home energy audit I had in March. Their rep, Joel, was very informative and knew what was required based on the assessment. The work scope was air sealing in attic and basement along the rim joist and blowing insulation in the attic to R-49 as well as a cantiliter overhang. Their pricing was competitive relative to the other quotes. This effort was motivated by the MD Home Performance funding. Suggest anyone planning on tapping these funds do as early as possible in the year to avoid having to rush the process. There are usually delays.

I think this company was extremely unprofessional. 1) They mislead me about honoring the work. They promised to include weatherstripping which was clearly documented in an email along with a few other items that I asked her to include in the contract in lieu of negotiating over price. They agreed over the phone to include ALL of them then changed their mind after we agreed to this in our negotiations. 2) They jacked up prices between the site review and the actual quote. The site review technician told me for a contractor to remove the siding would only be a few hundred, instead it was a few thousand! 3) The contact person went on vacation at the last minute -for a week!!!- with no alternate person established to respond to emails and BGE/MEA rebates were running out very quickly! Time was of the extreme essence that week and they dropped the ball. 4) They failed to honor their promises (they promised to have a contract for me that evening by 5pm, when I called back at 6 after receiving nothing for several hours, I was told the contact person had left the office!). I had to call their messaging service and ask for it to be sent to me that evening so I could mail out the contract ASAP to guarantee my MEA rebates. After they refused to honor their promises, they pulled out of the contract. Their delays nearly cost me MEA/BGE rebates and may still cost me rebates now that they will not honor their contract. This cost me $20 out of pocket for my cost to overnight the contract to MEA (which had to be done expedited mail since they delayed the contract significantly to the point that the available funds were nearly expired) that now has to be withdrawn, and my significant time and energy. I will not work with them ever again. IN RESPONSE TO YOUR COMMENTS - MY HOME DOES NOT HAVE NOR HAS IT EVER HAD ALUMINUM SIDING. YOU HAVE YOUR HOMES MIXED UP. I HAVE EMAIL PROOF THAT YOU PROMISED TO DO WEATHERSTRIPPING. NOBODY RETURNED MY CALLS NOR DID ANYONE TELL US YOUR PROPOSAL WOULD BE LATE. YOUR CONTACT PERSON NEVER FOLLOWED UP. YOU KNEW TIME WAS OF THE ESSENCE. TOTALLY UNPROFESSIONAL. THAT'S WHY YOU GOT THE NEGATIVE REVIEW.
Description of Work: They provided me with a quote and a contract for work to be performed. Their prices were good which is why I chose them. They ultimately pulled out of the contract after I had invested time and money, and sent out my MEA rebate forms which now have to be withdrawn.

Member, We apologize for your frustration. We feel we were clear about the inclusion of the weatherstripping. We were not planning to do this at no cost, and indicated so in our proposal. In the program with BGE you do get certain things for free. This does not include weatherstripping of doors. We cannot provide the materials and labor for free for this service. We did, however, agree to weatherstrip two doors for less than we normally charge to do one door. Regarding siding removal, your home has aluminum siding. We only remove siding that is vinyl as it is the type that can be removed and replaced safely. Based on your type of siding, we had to bring in an outside contractor to do the work. This resulted in an increased cost. We did provide a different price should you decide to hire a contractor to remove the siding, which was an option. We are sorry our contact person did not alert you to their expected vacancy from the office. Anybody on our team could have helped you had you called our office. You are correct that we did not get a proposal to you by 5pm. As you have a business yourself, you can understand how unexpected issues arise during a business day. Your representative was in the office when you called although your call was intercepted by our after-hours answering service. Upon your call, the answering service contacted your representative via cell phone immediately, at the exact time she was completing your quote. We did decline to work with you on this project and hope you were able to find another contractor who was able to meet your terms.

They did a great job, the crew arrived on time and began removing the insulation after I showed them the crawl space. This was not an easy job, or I would have done it myself. Within a few hours they were done and cleaning up. The next day, at the same time, the next crew arrived and after I showed them began foaming under the house. After a few hours they were done. After both jobs,I was shown the work that was done. The crews were profesional and courteous. I would have liked to have seen a visit or a follow up call from the home office about the work that was done, kind of impersonel, like ording something from a catalog.

We had a very good experience with Devere over two days of work. The work was complicated by the fact that we had a construction crew on site at the same time, but Devere's team was flexible and worked around the mess. We are very pleased with the end result, especially the new foam insulation in a previously uninsulated area of our home.

The crew of four headed by Joel Windsor spent 6 hours one day and over an hour the next day to finish the work. The were punctual and very careful not to leave any mess in the house. Joel would calmly answer all my questions and invite me to check their progress. His crew was very efficient and professional. As I mentioned, when the energy auditor indicated that 20% reduction was not achieved by the planned insulating, Joel readily agreed to come the next day and do extra work at no additional charge. I am very happy with DeVere's job.
Description of Work: DeVere insulated my attic and bedroom crawl space based on the recommendation of an independent energy auditor after an energy audit. He recommended DeVere Insulation stating that they will not limit themselves to the work in original quote but will work with me to achieve 20% reduction in air flow. I also received quotes from other insulation companies and DeVere were quite competitive. (Note that it is hard to compare quotes to someone not familiar with the jargon. There are many ways to perform the work and many types of sealants and insulation. I had to rely on the energy auditor, Richard Dexter, to compare the quotes). As originally planned, DeVere air-sealed the attic and crawl space, blew additional insulation into the attic (to achieve R-49) and installed batt insulation in the bedroom crawl space. Part of the crawl space did not have ready access. They cut holes in the garage ceiling, insulated the crawl space and patched the ceiling very neatly. After the blow test, the energy auditor stated that more work needs to be done to achieve the desired air flow reduction. DeVere came the next day and performed air sealing in the basement without extra charge.
