1st Class Moving and Storage

WOW!!!! I joined Angie's List because I was looking for a moving company and boy was it the right decision. 1st Class Moving & Storage was 1st Class all the way. They were helpful and efficient from my first call for a quote to the completion of the job. The team of movers was at my gate at the exact time promised to the minute! These guys never stopped from the moment they started. They ensured that all items were protected and packed appropriately. They were organized, friendly and worked well together. There made sure that all walls and floors were protected and they finished the job in less time than quoted. I was informed up front that there would be an additional 10% discount for cash payment, so there was time for me to get cash if necessary. I would highly recommend this company.

They did an awesome job. It took 10 hour but every thing got moved and put it in its proper place. They were the nicest mover I have ever dealt with. I would highly recommend them and use them again.

This is a really difficult review to write. If I had to grade the movers by themselves, we are very pleased with their punctuality and professionalism. They were careful with our items and worked hard. We have no complaints. The owner of the company is the problem. He is surly and rude, and has yelled at me on the phone. His own movers have even said he is not a nice man. Some of our items became damaged while held in storage and dealing with reimbursement for those items (even though we paid a ton extra for insurance) was a nightmare. We ended up asking for reimbursement for far less than what was actually damaged. Many boxes of ours were damaged, had mold, and the items that were ruined were soaking wet with some kind of unidentified liquid. Two rugs of ours were missing in the final inventory count. We did get reimbursed for the claim that was submitted, but it took months of heated exchanges between ourselves and the owner, and visits to the facility to time-stamp our documents so that we knew we would get reimbursed. I hope to never move again, but what I have learned in this process is that it is definitely NOT worth it to save a few bucks to go with a second-rate moving company. Pay a little more and use a nationally-known and reputable company.

The owner of the company called me personally to remedy an issue that we had during our move. After speaking with the owner, I feel better about my overall experience.

Movers were a little late but when they arrived, they went about that work quickly. They broke a mirror but the company paid me for that ($35) after filing insurance claim paperwork. I have used First-Class before and will use them again because they are reasonably priced, if not the best on quality of service. I was okay with a trade-off of top rate service for modest price. The company is managed by responsible individuals who are fairly easy to deal with.

This company recently helped us complete a local move, and I couldn't have been more pleased with ther service I received. I was originally quoted 3 hours for the move, but when I called for an estimate I underestimated the amount that needed to be moved not having packed things up yet. The move ended up taking 4 hours, but the 2 men who came tried their best to complete the job in 3 hours despite the amout of things I had. I was moving from a 3rd floor apartment without an elevator and the men were quickly carrying items out and running back up the stairs for the entire time. They did not take a break at all. They were careful to package all of my things completely, and nothing was broken in the move. Additionally, they were punctual and scheduled to arrive between 8-9 and they arrived at 8:10. This was the smoothest move I've experienced yet, and I won't hesitate to call the company when I move again.

1. The moving team got my home on time. 2. They were very professional in wrapping, dissembling, moving, and assembling furniture. 3. They accurately calculated the number of hours they spent in moving, subtracting the lunch time. 4. My two colleagues used other two moving companies in the same week, the 1st moving did much a much better job than the other two.

Great. Allan came out to provide an estimate. The final bill was exactly as estimated. All statt were professional. Be sure to ask about cash payment discount. We were not informed of that, and would have paid cash to save 10% if we had known!

Gustavo and his crew assisted us with a local move back to the area from out of state. We completed the move in two phases...one to move items from storage to our new home, the second to move a second storage unit and our rental in Howard County to a new home in Baltimore Co. Both times the crew was responsive, polite, on-time, professional and FAST on really hot summer days. The estimates provided were accurate and the work was even completed slightly more quickly (at lower than anticipated cost) than quoted. Everything arrived in perfect condition and was placed exactly where we asked. We hope never to move again, but would recommend not considering anyone else for moving and storage needs. Work with 1st class and you will be treated honestly and fairly and will not be disappointed.

They moved me yesterday. I think that they were very professional and they did an excellent job. Our crew was fantastic. They were very nice and they were very professional. They did a great job. They did not waste any time. They came in and they asked what they needed to do, they looked around and I showed them what needed to be moved and what needed to be done, and they immediately went to work. I was super impressed; I was just like they are fantastic. Their price did not change whatsoever, because sometimes with movers it does change. They gave a quote and they stayed within their quote. They were not hurried at all. They made sure that the job was completed before time. I found their price to be fair, but I did not feel like they low-balled me either. They were on time. I would like to recommend them to others as well.

Move went very well. 7 movers arrived on moving day and were courteous, efficient and professional. They were careful with our items, wrapping all the furniture. Special attention was paid to our Tempur-Pedic mattress. All items arrived in very good condition. Unloading went well also. Nothing was broken or missing. There was a misunderstanding regarding the delivery date but Hussan worked with us to accommodate our needs and reduce extra cost to us. Having moved 15 times previous, we would rate this move far above the others.

They did a good job packing up everything including wrapping it. They did as asked and did not bring out a large truck that would not fit in the driveway. They didn't tack on any charges at the end of the trip and they gave us a 10% discount for paying with cash.

This was a great moving experience for us - the workers were extremely courteous and pleasant, did a wonderful job of moving our furnishings (including a baby grand piano), and did so with the same care that we would have done ourselves. We could not have been more pleased with this service and company, and definitely recommend them.

I got three estimates and they were the lowest. We picked them because the president of the company came out to do the estimate himself, and just the way they handled things was very well done. They don't miss details. They knocked a minor hole in the door and they were very prompt in wanting to reimburse us for that. We have been here less than a week and they want to make sure everything is right. Everything was done very professionally and on time, very quickly. The price did not include packing, we did the packing ourselves.

They were very thorough, efficient, clean and on time. I felt they were reasonably priced and was pleased with them.

We were told that the movers would arrive between 8 and 10 am to load the truck. They surprised us when they arrived 45 minutes early. Three pleasant men loaded the truck in about an hour. They arrived on time in Boston a few days later. Everything arrived and nothing was damaged. A good experience overall.

I was given excellent customer service on the telephone and via email, and although I thought it was a bit pricey ($516.00 to move a one bedroom apartment 20 miles) I was given a 10% discount for using Angies List and another 10% for paying cash. However, the day of service everything changed. The movers were **4 hours late** with no phone call. I called them when they were an hour late, and they claimed they would be arriving in another hour. Long story short, they were 4 hours late total. They did not have the courtesy to call me to let me know that they were running behind, I had to keep calling them to readjust my schedule. When they arrived, I was given no apology for being so late or their failure to call me. They were slow, and careless with my belongings. My friend wound up helping them move my things because they were moving so slow and he did not trust them to carry the fragile boxes. It seems that the problem is really with the movers themselves. I had a wonderful experience with the management. On the day of service after everything occured, the management agreed to drop my price to a flat rate of $350.00 and sent an additional mover at no extra cost. The price wound up being great, but the movers themselves were rude, inappropriate, and disrespectful.ur

The team of 3 arrived on time, very carefully packed all of my household goods and put them in storage. This included moving a piano down two flights of stairs. They were pleasant and courteous. The packing took longer than anticipated but they packed everything very carefully and took care not to bang up walls even when carrying heavy furniture down 2 flights of stairs. My goods were kept in storage at their warehouse and were delivered one month later. (No charge for one month's storage.) The delivery took place on time, once again the team was pleasant and responsive. Everything was delivered in excellent condition, nothing broken or damaged. The charges ended up exceeding the estimate but I asked them to do extra work, so no complaint.

I could not have asked for better movers! They were on time, polite, and professional. They were absolutely fantastic! I would recommend them to anybody!

They were great. The owner was really responsive and quick to give us a quote. The crew was very careful with our belongings, polite & professional. We plan on using them again very soon for another move.

Their prices were very fair. The staff is courteous and punctual.

We used 1st Class Moving after a friend-of-a-friend used them and said they had a good experience. These guys (led by Oscar) were incredible. They showed up on time and got right to work. Not a scratch on any of my walls or on any of my furniture. Anything they took apart (bed frames, crib, futon) they put back together expertly. I could not believe how quick and efficient they got the truck unpacked and furniture put where I directed them. Price came in less that what I was expecting. Excellent crew, excellent work and I would definitely recommend.

It went horribly from start to finish. I had used this company previously to move my furniture without issue. They gave me a price quote for the hot tub over the phone. Since I did not have an alternative choice to move it, I picked them again. I described the setup to the best of my ability. When they arrived, they decided that there were steps on the ground level deck which would cost extra. I agreed to pay the extra fee. From the beginning, they had the wrong type of truck and equipment to move the hot tub. They used an ordinary moving truck with a ramp and tried to roll it up and down the ramp. When they got to the second location (my house), they lost control of the hot tub and dropped it. Their movers then got in a fist fight and called the police. A few minutes later, I had the police on my doorstep requesting a statement, and an ambulance in my driveway. Once they finally got the hot tub into the backyard, it was apparent that it was broken. I called the manager, who came to look at it. He assured me that the company would fix it to an operable condition and wrote this into the contract. However, he asked me to sign an insurance agreement, which I should never have done. He did have some companies come out and assess the damage, but they were not hot tub companies. The one person from whom we got a card was an unlicensed plumber. We asked repeatedly to have a hot tub company assess the damage and do the work. We finally paid to get a repair assessment ourselves. We made a deal for part of the overall repair cost. Throughout the process, the manager threatened to turn the case over to their insurance company, if we did not comply. I found out this meant that we would get a maximum of $50 to repair. This is why he insisted that I sign off on the insurance. In the end, he did send us a check for $150. It was a horrible experience. They misrepresented their ability to move a hot tub. I strongly recommend that you never use this company for any sort of specialty moving. Their only redeeming factor was that they did make some effort to admit guilt and try to compensate. I do think that was honorable of them. This is why I gave them a "D" instead of an "F".

1. Office people were very pleasant and helpful when we told them we had to move in a week's time. 2. Estimator came out the same day to give a free estimate. 3. Movers arrived within the window of time given. 4. Move was completed in about 30 minutes less than estimated. 5. We paid them at the end with our credit card. They had a wireless credit card machine in the truck (very neat). 6. We are living happily ever after in our new home.

I was very pleased. They gave me a very accurate estimate, came when scheduled, and completed the move without breaking anything major. I have moved several times in the last 10 years. This was one of the most professional companies that I have used.
