1st Class Moving and Storage

We chose this company based upon the professionalism of the sales rep that came to our home to give an estimate on the work and because they were the least expensive of the three companies we contacted for estimates. The company charges a $100 downpayment for moving services when you sign a contract with them. They mistakenly charged me $250 for this. Since the amount is applied towards the cost of the move, I wasn't that concerned. However, I was concerned when on Monday I had not received any confirmation of the move which was scheduled for Wednesday. I talked to someone in accounting on Monday who told me that I was on the schedule for Wednesday and that I did not receive confirmation due to a paperwork issue they had (hence the overcharge on the deposit). He told me that I would get a call on Tuesday to confirm a time for the move. On Tuesday at 1pm I still had not heard from them. I called again and was told that someone from dispatch would call me with a time. That person never called. I called again and was transferred to dispatch. He told me that I wasn't on their schedule and therefore would not be moved. He didn't offer an apology or even suggest a different day for moving --- even though I had been calling for TWO DAYS to make sure we were scheduled and had been told that we were. The house was being turned over to the new owner on Friday so not moving on the planned day was not an option for us. The dispatch seemed unconcerned with the issue and no one else that I had spoken to seemed to want to discuss it -- they kept transferring my call to the dispatch. I finally demanded the phone number of the owner of the company. Amazingly, he gave me the cell number of the owner of the company. I called the owner and he answered. I explained what was happening. He called me back an hour later and said that he would have a moving crew there in the morning. Due to the experience I had already had with them, I was unconvinced of this so I made backup arrangements to have a local handyman company make the move in a rented U-Haul just in case they didn't show up. This was not how I expected to spend the 48 hours prior to moving our entire family, including a new baby. The crew showed up on time. They were efficient and polite and were sure to point out any defects in our property before they moved them (such as scratches on wood furniture). I appreciated that they were so thorough. It was a shame that the experience with scheduling was so poor because the move-out crew did a good job. A few weeks later we called them to move us back into our new house. This time I received email confirmation of the move. They crew showed up during the time they said they would. This crew was also polite and professional. They were also efficient and were sure to ask where things went in the new home. There were some minor downsides though...we had a small table that was broken after they put it back together and we had a handful of boxes that didn't fare so well (this could have been due to our packing of the boxes though). They also left moving blankets on our back porch, which we didn't realize until after they left. Otherwise, everything went as I hoped it would. In the end, you get what you pay for. We went with the cheapest bid and had some issues. Who knows if the same would have happened with the more expensive companies. If the scheduling issue with the move-out hadn't been so frustrating, I would have rated them higher. I must say though - I do give the company credit for giving me the owner's cell phone number and him fixing the situation. Next time we'll pay more to avoid the hassles.

They did a very good job and were a great value for the money. I packed everything up and just had them do the heavy lifting and it was terrific. They did a fantastic job and their customer service is really good as well. I highly recommend them to all my friends, clients (I am a Realtor) and family.

Excellent. Movers were prompt, very careful with our belongings and very courteous. I could not have been happier.

It went really well. Nothing broke. They went above and beyond and their estimate was comparable to others we received.

We hired them to move my son's overflowing two bedroom apartment to his new townhouse a few blocks away. They arrived on time, worked continuously and did not complain about the three flights of stairs they had to go up and down. The move included a 70" TV, four 7 ft tall bookshelves, queen size bedroom set, living room furniture, and other miscellaneous items. They took great care in disassembling items and padding everything well. The only damage was a box that we had packed and it looked like it had been dropped on a corner and an inexpensive baking dish and lid were broken. There was also a small dent knocked in the bedroom wall that was easily repaired. The men were polite and hard working.

Three gentlemen arrived and worked hard from the moment they arrived. They were efficient, very helpful and very professional. It was a great experience, especially in light of other experiences I had. They did not damage one box, piece of furniture or one wall in either house. They did a wonderful job.

I have nothing but RAVE reviews for 1st Class Moving Storage; right from our estimate with Justin to the last box put down byDennis and crew. They did a FANTASTIC job with our whole house move. As you can tell, I WHOLEHEARTEDLY recommend 1st Class! We selected them because they were the most economical (cheapest) of the four estimates we received. Dennis and crew were GREAT, very responsive to my every request!

Very impressed with all aspects of move: estimate, promptness, packing, moving, unloading. Nothing was broken or damaged. Everything was placed in the room we requested. All the beds were re-assembled correctly and quickly. They really worked hard. Worth every penny.

We had a really bad experience. The movers were not professional. We specially told them that certain pieces of furniture needed to be packed especially well, and with extra packing. They did not do that at all. They packed the really small, insignificant furniture really well because one guy was doing a great job. He, of course, was not working on the real expensive furniture. When they came, it seemed like they were not using workers that were part of their every day company, they weren't wearing shirts or anything representing the company, it seemed like they didn't know each other, and it seemed like they just picked people off the street. They dropped our couch, and broke it, and we had paid for maximum insurance for the insurance. We just got the check for it last week.

A estimator arrived at my place sveral weeks before my planend move date. We walked through the entire townhouse and discussed what my needs were. The day of the move the team arrived and moved my items quickly. When I arrived at my destination they brought the rented wardrobe boxes in for me to unpack first.

We had a great experience with 1st Class!! We were looking for a mover to both pack and move our four bedroom house. I interviewed and received estimates from five movers. 1st Class's price was very competitive and Justin was very knowledgable! He assured me the pack could be done in one day and the move also in one day. Other providers told me it couldn't be done in two days. The team that arrived, led by Gabriel, was polite, hard-working and efficient. Part of our contract was disassembling and re-assembling a trampoline. They had it put together in 25 minutes!! But most important, they were trustworthy - we had an envelope with $200 in a dresser we forgot to remove before the move. We found the envelope safely packed in with the other items from that drawer. Gabriel and his team made the move easy!!

Great. Justin provided a same day estimate including insurance and storage option. Movers arrived on time and were careful and fast. I was moving from a row house which presented some difficulty with narrow stairwells and corridors. It was a long distance move from MD to Long Island NY. A storage option was provided which fortunately I did not need.

Only pleasant surprises! Didn't add on any crazy charges after my initial quote (which was very competitive). They could not have been any more accommodating as to the timing of the move. The crew showed up exactly on time, finished loading in a timely manner, and did the exact same on drop-off. And no issues with anything being damaged. Could not have asked for a better experience!

It went well and we were very pleased.

Smooth. I had taken out all of the drawers, shelves, loose pieces on the furniture and moved them myself which cut down the movers time. The original quote was $1,400 and it ended up costing me $700. No furniture was damaged during the move.

The move went well. They arrived right on time. The crew leader and team walked around the house to assess everything we had. I was lazy and did not want to fill out their online inventory list, so they provided me an estimate a little bit blindly. The estimate was for 7 hours. After the walk though, I was told that it maybe closer to 8 or 9 hours. They worked very diligently to get everything packed up and in the truck. The day of the move was 9 degrees out, so they were able to pull the truck on the front lawn and right up to the door. The move took the original estimate 7 hours. Nothing broken, no walls scraped. I would recommend them

They were wonderful. Very professional courteous. Everyone on the team new exactly what to do and worked steadily to get the job done. I was concerned about the grand piano, but they were perfect. They knew just how to disassemble it as much as possible (remove the lid and the legs), wrapped it carefully with moving blankets, etc., secured it to a platform and moved it out. My aunt lived in a highrise apartment, but they had no difficulty moving everything out the door, down the hall, down the elevator and out the loading dock. I highly recommend these movers to anyone. The cost was very close to the estimate (almost exactly - even slightly less).

My expectations were exceeded from bid to final payment. Justin was informative, knowledgeable, and provided a very thorough explanation of the moving process. Allan was very timely with providing confirmation paperwork. The moving team (sorry, can't remember any of their names) were on time and were a whirlwind getting us moved out of the old house and storage unit and into our apartment FASTER than estimated. Not a single scratch, bump , or nick. They handled everything with utmost professional care! Everyone had spectacular work ethic and I do plan to use this company again when we move from the apartment into our next house.

It went perfectly smooth. The came on time, the staff was very cooperative and polite. Can not imagine that it could have been done in any other efficient manner.

This is the second move 1st Class has done for me and they did a terrific job. Their prices were better than any other mover I found and their service and communication was excellent. They even gave me boxes to pack my household in so that I didn't have to buy boxes! Highly recommend them!! I am a real estate agent and I also have recommended them to my clients and they have done a terrific job for them as well! Check them out!

The move went very smoothly with no surprises. The moving team arrived early, carefully packed everything into 2 trucks, then drove to our new home (about 40 minutes away), unpacked everything - and broke NOTHING! This included a baby grand piano. I was very impressed with how hard and diligent the team worked. I can't say enough about the entire experience - I'd very much recommend 1st Class Moving Storage again!

They were wonderful. They wrapped up and packaged everything nicely. They did a good job and we only moved 12 miles but they packaged everything and took their time. They were prompt and they were careful not to damage anything. They sent a moving truck and they were so responsive that they coordinated everything. And then we actually left something that we thought it was for the new home owner and they went back and got it.

Absolutely fantastic. Arrived early, respectful, friendly group of four guys. The only hitch we had was that they hadn't been told they were moving my baby grand piano. They got on the phone immediately to have the right equipment dropped off and got to work on other pieces right away. You could see they have plenty of experience moving pianos and got it into our new home without issue. I've moved a number of times and have never seen movers go this quickly while still maintaining high standards. They clearly were trying to keep us within, or under, our estimated time and cost. The company even provided us used boxes you can pick up at their warehouse. Were a complete delight to work with overall. We plan on using them again twice within the next year to move both sets of our parents.

They were AWESOME!!! Showed up on time, moved everything with no damage or problem, situated and re-situated furniture until it was to our liking, moved some stuff to another location. They did everything efficiently, and were nice also. I would most DEFINITELY recommend them and use them again.

1st Class Moving did a great job moving us into our new home. The whole process went smoothly, from the original estimating (which was through and had a cap) to communications while they stored our belongings to moving us in to the new house. Our hard - working crew was led by Gabriel. The entire team of 5 movers worked hard but were also thoughtful and careful with our stuff, and we were able to get the same crew even though on both of our moving days which helped. We got multiple quotes and they were the cheapest by a substantial amount, but came highly recommended. I would recommend as well.
