Everything went well from the first meeting until the end of the job.

It was a good experience, but the price was too steep for me.

Stan was the first of four contractors who visited our home to estimate our proposed kitchen remodel. He called ahead to confirm the appointment and arrived on time. He was courteous and professional and able to give me an immediate ballpark estimate, just what I was seeking. I was pleased, thinking I'd potentially found the right company for the job on the first visit. I emailed Stan with subsequent questions a few times and received immediate helpful replies. We scheduled a return visit for him to meet my husband and to provide enough information for him to give us a more concrete proposal and estimate. The day before he arrived, I noticed a comment in one of the Green Solutions positive reviews that this was the company formerly known as Columbia Home Contractors. Therefore, I looked up Columbia Home Contractors expecting to find additional positive reviews about this company. I did verify that it is the same company. In fact, if you go to the www.columbiahomecontractors.com link on the Angie's List page for Columbia Home Contractors, you are redirected automatically to the Green Solutions website. However, the recent Angie's List reviews were quite negative. Stan arrived again punctually at the scheduled time. During his visit, I asked about the other company. He explained that the bad reviews came during a transition period when they were having trouble with their subcontractor which had subsequently been resolved. He also said the company's name change had nothing to do with that but was updated to reflect the company's interest in energy conservation and the environment and their offering of green products. Our meeting went well very regarding the design proposal and he said he would email us the written proposal and cost estimate within a few days. That was the last time I heard from or saw him. When I tried to contact him via email a week later because I hadn't received his proposal, I got no reply. I emailed him twice more over the next couple of weeks, expressing disappointment that I hadn't received his proposal and asking why. I again received no response. The lack of response led me to believe that because of my questions about the company name change, either (1) he no longer believed we were viable customers and deemed us unworthy of his time, or (2) the company is unscrupulous and changed their name to try to hide their bad reviews. Thus, Green Solutions went from being our potential first choice to our absolute last. Even if we had ended up selecting a different contractor, we would have provided a positive review if he had followed through with the promised proposal and estimate. My advice is to steer clear of this business unless you have direct knowledge of their reputability. I would have given them an F if it hadn't been for the early positive contact.

We haven't actually seen the doors yet, so I'll update then. But Stan had good catalogues and worked with us. He actually tried to get us a lower price for the overall bid on whole job than was originally estimated, but I ended up breaking it into smaller projects and doing the scheduling myself. I would hire again probably, and recommend. (I thought the price for the doors was expensive at first, but it was competitive)

They worked with us to design and install a new kitchen to replace a 40 year old kitchen. This involved a complete kitchen makeover, which included removing 1 interior wall, and taking an exterior wall down to the studs to move a window, plumbing, and gas lines. Window moving resulted in need for new exterior house siding. The quality of craftmanship in the prep work and cabinet installation exceeded our expectations. As with most home improvements, there were 2-3 unexpected issues that required discussion/resolution. They were always supportive in "doing the right thing" throughout this activity. Their main carpenter, Tim, is a carpenter genius who regularly left the work site cleaner than what he found it. He'd even call and alert us if he was showing up late due to traffic. Todd, the project manager, is professional, very knowledgable and offers suggestions, and easy to deal with. The electrical, plumbing, and flooring subcontractors were professional in their work and respectful of our home. All work was completed within 5 weeks of start date. Our tired old kitchen is now the envy of the neighborhood. We would not hesitate to use them again or recommend them.

Countertops were put in first by subcontractor. Excellent work Steve did removal & refacing of cabinets & rebuilt two cabinets. His attention to detail was outstanding. Grout work meticulous. He worked on weekends to make sure job was done on time.

the doors and entrance way were removed and installed as proposed. the problem came with the locks for the doors. i requested a dummy lock on the storm door & a second dummy lock on the dead bolt . the main door came with 2 different locks. I originally asked for the locks to be set to an existing key & was told this could not be done, so i allowed the new lock to have its own key. the lock did not perform properly & i had to have an additional visit from the installers. they came again & later the lock again was not performing properly. at this time it was locked from inside. this was now the july 4th weekend & i needed someone to come out. I ended up calling a locksmith. the locksmith advised me to replace the lock for $150.00. i did replace the lock & wrote a letter to green solutions. they responded requesting a copy of the invoice. i sent them a copy & they said they checked with the company, who said i requested the change. they also said they needed to see the original lock. i have the lock that was removed and gave them the information that it was available to examine. no one responded.

They did a wonderful kitchen. There was no high pressure sales. They called in advance to schedule the installation and did it when they said they would. There were a couple of little cleanup items that they had to do because some of the vendors hadn't provided the equipment. They expedited that and finished the job a couple of days after most of it was done. The job was close to perfect.

They solicited us. Examined bathroom, took measurements, and we discussed what we wanted. He would have to come back for us to make choices from his catalogs for specific items so he could give a detailed estimate. He indicated, based on his experience, ballpark estimate was between $13 - $15,000. We never rescheduled since the cost was too high.

They were very knowledgeable. They were fine. I ultimately decided not to go ahead with re finishing the cabinets and do something else. My decision had nothing to do with them.

We have been totally pleased with all of this contractors work which is the reason we have gone back to them several times over the years.

I was not hassled, I was given a very reasonable price and it was completed right about inside the timeframe forecasted, was not inconvenienced in any way. Very happy.

Their workmanship is the best I've ever seen. They are responsive They are responsive and timely in their work.
